“Why don’t I have a love life? Why don’t I have a love life like that? ” Taehyung whined, tugging on Jimin’s sleeve. A scene came on of the guy confessing to the girl at a pretty field, the sunset coloring the skies with orange and pink. They ended it with a passionate kiss.
Jimin sighed, prying his hands off, but Taehyung just held onto his hands instead. “Why are you so obsessed with these romance movies lately?”
Taehyung gave him a look that could only portray ‘are you stupid?’ “You’re serious! Jiminie, I broke up with my good-for-nothing ex not that long ago!”
“Correction; 5 months ago. Besides, you started watching these like two weeks ago. They all have the same plot.” Jimin scrunched his nose in displeasure.
“Jiminie...shut up. I’ll continue to watch these and drag you to watch them whether you like it or not.” He sighed, staring at the screen ahead. “I like them because it’s different from the relationship I had. I didn’t have stuff they do in movies. It just seems...nice.” Taehyung ended his thought with a humorless chuckle.
Jimin’s face softened and he suddenly feels like an ass for making fun of him. He squeezed Taehyung’s hand. “He was an asshole. You deserve someone better who will do these things for you okay? Sorry for making fun of you.”
Taehyung looked at him and smiled. He rested his head on Jimin’s shoulder. “I know. I’m over him. I know you didn’t mean anything by it. I make fun of you all the time.”
Jimin scoffed and lightly flicked him. “Yeah you do, jerk.”
“Only cause I love you.”
Jimin laughed. “Oh no, he’s getting sappy on me.”
“You know you secretly enjoy these too.”
Jimin just shrugged, a smile still on his face.
Jimin was doing his usual stretches during his dance class. He met the president of the club, and now his friend, Hoseok, his freshman year of university and the moment he saw Jimin dance, he forced Jimin to join. Not that Jimin was complaining, it was his favorite part of the day. He loved to dance, to express his emotions through graceful movements or feel the beat of the songs in his bones. He loved seeing Hoseok dance, Jimin admired him greatly. He loved seeing others in his class dance, too. Jimin even got to see some of them improve from when they first started out and felt a swell of pride for them.
But, he especially loved watching a specific boy in his dance class. Jeon Jungkook. He wasn’t elegant like Jimin nor flexile movements like Hoseok. But he was powerful in his moves, and talented that Jimin always had to force himself out of his trance of staring at him dance. Jungkook had an aura around his dance that called out his name. Jungkook was pretty shy, he spoke to some people in the class but if he wasn’t, he’d be on his phone with headphones in his ears. Despite the shyness though, he was quite popular. Jimin wasn’t surprised though, he was incredibly handsome.
Jimin let out a sigh when he stretched into a split, enjoying the satisfying feeling of his muscles being stretched.
“Hey Jiminie, we’re about to start.” Hoseok said before taking a sip of water.
Jimin stood up taking sips of his own water bottle. “Alright.”
“Did you stretch well?”
“I always do, hyung.” Jimin smiled.
Hoseok wrapped an arm around his shoulder, grinning. “I know, I know. I’m just looking out for you.”
“Yeah cause it’s not like i’m in this club for the third year.”
Hoseok scoffed. “So stingy.” He walked to the center to grab everyone’s attention. “Alright, position’s guys!”
Taehyung sipped on his coffee, observing Jimin silently.
“What now?” Jimin pouted at him.
“What do you mean?” Taehyung put his mug down.
“You’ve been staring at me for like 10 minutes.”
Taehyung pursed his lips. “Well, I always talk about my love life...and we’ve been best friends for a long time...but you never talk about your love life.”
“Okay…” Jimin had a feeling he knew where Taehyung was getting at, but he looked at him with suspicion in his eyes.
“I just wanna know what was your last date like? I mean you’ve probably been on a lot, you’re hot.”
Jimin couldn’t help but let out a laugh before panic settled in his insides. He’s never been on a date before, and although he knows Taehyung wouldn’t judge him for it, he was still incredibly embarrassed being in his junior year in university and not having been on a date before. He didn’t wanna lie to his friend either. Shit . Jimin scratched his cheek. “Oh...um, I mean does it matter?”
Taehyung shrugged. “I saw a romance movie yesterday and there was this really cute date, it’s been in my head all day.” He said almost dreamily.
“I wanna punch that asshole that turned you into a sappy, romantic mush.” Jimin shook his head.
Taehyung chuckled but gave a pointed look, awaiting his answer. “Better yet, who was your last date with? A sexy senior? A cute freshman?”
Jimin felt his palms get sweaty, his cheeks heated.
“Oh! Jiminie, you’re blushing! Who is he?!” Jimin could see the excitement swimming in his eyes.
Now Jimin felt too bad...maybe he could just play along, just for today. “U-Um. This boy named-” He tried to think of a name, his mind flashing Jungkook’s. He’ll just use his name. That should be fine, right? “-his name is Jungkook.”
Taehyung widened his eyes. “As in Jeon Jungkook?!” His mouth opened in shock, and Jimin panicked. “Holy shit, no way. I didn’t know you guys knew each other!”
Jimin bit his lip. “Uh...I didn’t know you knew him?” Jimin squeaked.
“Yeah! We had a math class together last year and we got along cause be both sucked.” Taehyung giggled, remembering the memory.
Jimin bit at his finger. Shit, shit, shit. “Um. Taehyung I think I gotta go. I’ll see you at the dorms later!” He got up almost making the chair fall backward. Jimin laughed awkwardly as he speedily walked off, not awaiting Taehyung’s response. Jimin needed to find Jungkook before Taehyung did. Why did life hate him so much that they just had to know each other?
Jimin took out his phone and called Hoseok, he could get him in contact with Jungkook. This is gonna be so awkward.
“Jiminie! What’s up?” Hoseok’s chipper voice sounded through the phone.
Jimin ran his fingers through his hair, letting it flop back down. “Um, you know Jeon Jungkook from our dance class?”
“Yeah, obvi. What about him?” There was a teasing hint to his voice and Jimin sighed.
“D-Do you think you can give me his number? Assuming you have it…”
“I do!” Hoseok chuckled. “Are you...interested?”
Jimin’s cheeks flushed. “N-No! I just need to ask him a favor. Anyways, can you?”
Hoseok laughed. “Alright, alright. I’ll stop teasing you. I’ll text you his number.”
Jimin hung up, awaiting Hoseok’s text. He got it soon after and saved it on his phone. Should he call? Text? Did he even know who Jimin was? That’d be even more embarrassing….
Um, hi. It’s Park Jimin from dance class. This might be sudden...but do you think you can meet me at Bighit cafe today?
He click sent as soon as he finished typing, not wanting to doubt himself. Jimin put his phone in his pocket, it felt as if it was burning a hole in jeans. He was too aware of its presence.
Jimin was about to make his way there when he felt his phone vibrate. He took a deep breath and took his phone out.
Oh, hey...Um, yeah it’s a little sudden but I can go now. If you want?
Jimin felt his heart beat chaotically against his chest.
That’d be great! Thanks. I’ll explain everything to you.
Yeah no problem. Omw.
Jimin felt too warm in the cafe, it wasn’t crowded like when Jimin would come in the rush hour of the morning but it wasn’t empty either. Everyone was busy chatting with others or trying to study. Jimin sighed as he sipped on his coffee, liking the feeling of hot drink going down his throat.
“Um, Jimin?” He heard a shy voice speak.
Jimin looked up in surprise to see Jungkook standing beside his table, he seemed unsure of whether to sit or not. Jimin was too nervous that he didn’t even notice when he came in. “O-Oh, sit!” Jimin motioned his hand towards the chair in front of him.
Jungkook sat silently and looked at him. Up close, Jimin noticed his doe-eyes and wished he didn’t.
“Um right, you’re probably super confused right now. I-” He scratched his neck in a mix of nervousness and embarrassment. “I need a favor from you. You can totally deny if you want.”
Jungkook nodded so Jimin continued. “My best friend-Taehyung- he’s really into romance stuff right now and he asked me who my last date was with and-” Jimin cut himself off. Fuck, he can’t know I haven’t been on a date before. Taehyung wouldn’t judge me but would Jungkook? Would he laugh?
Jungkook looked relaxed at Taehyung’s name but he still seemed confused. “And?”
Jimin felt his face warm. “I panicked and said your name...So he kinda thinks we’ve been on a date but I don’t want him to know I lied.” Jimin sneaked a glance and saw his eyes widen. “I know it’s bad, but like if you could just play along, i’d be really grateful!"
Jungkook looked away, staring at the window while biting his bottom lip in thought. “You...said my name?”
Jimin got out of his trance of looking at his lips and the cute beauty mark below it. “Y-Yeah. Um he doesn’t really know the people in my dance class except Hoseok hyung. I thought he wouldn’t know you…”
Jungkook looked at him again and didn’t seem convinced on his answer but nodded, much to Jimin’s surprise. “I’ll play along.”
“Seriously?” Jimin opened his mouth in astonishment.
Jungkook shrugged. “I can mess with Taehyung.”
Jimin smiled. “Yeah. Besides, we can just say we decided to stay friends after the date or something.”
“Right...Yeah.” Jungkook nodded slowly.
Jimin hummed, rubbing his hands on his black jeans. “Do you...uh, want coffee or something? My treat since I’m asking for this.”
Jungkook looked hesitant before nodding. “Just an Americano is fine.”
“Cool, i’ll order it for you.” Jimin got up, a little too quick, and went to order Jungkook’s coffee. He took this moment as a breather, he felt too nervous with the cute boy in front of him. His hands felt clammy and his face too red.
“Who’s the kid?” Seokjin, a pretty barista who Jimin became friends with, asked.
Jimin glanced back to see Jungkook busying himself with his phone. “We...have dance together.”
Seokjin’s brow rose in curiosity. “Oh? What’s his name? I feel like I’ve seen him around.”
Jimin watched his hyung prepare the drink with quick hands and sighed, “Jungkook. Second year of uni.”
“Ah, Jungkook.” Seokjin realizes. “Quite popular isn’t he? Seems quiet though.”
Jimin shrugged. “He’s a little shy, but I’ve seen him with his close friends and it’s different. But yeah, popular for sure.”
Seokjin chuckled. “As if you’re not.”
Jimin frowned. “I don’t count it if all they talk about are my looks. Do you know how many times I go through cat-calling-” Jimin paused and huffed. “ Actually , yeah you do. People come in here to see your face.”
“Rude.” Jin playfully glared. “Can’t help it if i’m beautiful.” He winked at him but then pursed his lips. “Cat-calling though...yeah, not fun.”
Jimin realized he’d been chatting far too long and left Jungkook alone. “Shit, I should head back. Thanks hyung. I’ll talk to you later.”
Jin waved him off as Jimin made his way back to the table, placing the cup in front of Jungkook. Jimin smiled sheepishly. “Sorry I took long.”
Jungkook looked up from his phone and smiled. “Thanks for the coffee, hyung.” He glanced to see Seokjin attending a customer who was very clearly gushing over his looks. “Do you...like him?”
Jimin looked at him in surprise. “Oh n-no! We’re just friends.” Jimin ended his statement with an awkward chuckle.
Jungkook sipped on his coffee and Jimin wasn’t sure if the small smirk on his face was just an illusion. “Anyway, I didn’t think Taehyung was this obsessed with the romance stuff. When he told me, I thought he was kidding.”
Jimin laughed. “Yeah I did too. But as his roommate, I see him watching them whenever he has the chance. I knew he was serious about this, but it makes sense anyway.”
Jungkook scoffed. “I know, fuck that asshole for cheating on Tae hyung.”
Jimin looked at him in amusement. “I appreciate you doing this. I’m kind of embarrassed about it, but thanks anyway.”
Jungkook stared at him before smiling. “I don’t mind hyung.”
Jimin grinned at him. “Thanks.”
The moment Jimin walked into his apartment, he was bombarded with Taehyung’s excited yelling.
“Tae! Stop talking for a sec, I can’t understand you.” Jimin plopped onto the couch with a tired sigh.
Taehyung sat beside him and smirked. “I spoke to Jungkook today.” Jimin glanced at him warily. Taehyung pouted. “He didn’t wanna tell me about your date, said it was a secret. You’ll tell me right?”
Jimin hid his surprise by giggling at his friend. “Sorry, my mouth is shut~”
Taehyung had a look of betrayal as he side-eyed him. “I take it it went well?”
Jimin bit his lip. They hadn’t discussed what they were going to do, Jungkook only said he’d played along. Should he say it didn’t so they can end whatever this was? “Well-”
“Jungkook’s super sweet, I bet he treated you like a prince. He’s kinda dorky, maybe you knew that already, so I think he can make you laugh lots!” Taehyung looked at him happily and Jimin felt a weight crush his chest.
“O-Oh...yeah, he was really cute on our um, date.” Jimin thought of their time at the cafe, technically that was like a date, right? “He was easy to talk to once he got comfortable.”
Taehyung nodded excitedly. “Yeah exactly! In no time he’ll act like a fool around you.”
Jimin smiled fondly at his friend before he leaned his head on the back of the sofa and sighed. “I don’t think we’ll go on another...date.”
He heard Taehyung gasp softly beside him. “How come? Did you not like him?”
Jimin felt himself blush. “I-I did...but I don’t think he does so it’s best to just quit it.”
Taehyung crossed his arms and he looked like an adorable angered child. “I’ll talk to him. How can he not like my Jiminie?”
Jimin was conflicted between feeling warm at Taehyung’s defense or panic at the thought of him talking to Jungkook and telling him what he probably shouldn’t have said. “Ah, no! You don’t have to do that Tae. It’s fine, really!”
Taehyung stared at him and sighed. “I can’t promise my mouth won’t start running.”
Jimin laughed, of course. “I should’ve known it was too good to be true.” Jimin pulled Taehyung against his chest. “Thanks though.” He felt guilty for lying.
Jimin stood up, stretching his arms above his head. He bent down, grabbing his ankles, chest touching his legs. He sighed at the pull on his muscles. He heard someone clear his throat and looked up to see Jungkook standing in front of him, with what looked like a blush on his cheeks, but it was also hot in the room.
Jimin stood up straight. “Oh, hey.”
Jungkook smiled. “I just wanted to tell you that Taehyung talked to me, not very nicely either. Well, as mean as Taehyung can be anyway.” He chuckled.
Jimin rolled his eyes. Of course Taehyung spoke to him asap. “Just ignore whatever he said-”
Jungkook stared at him intently. “Hm. I apparently don’t like you which is why we’re not going on another date.”
Jimin grimaced. “Right...I just wanted an excuse to end this so you don’t have to play along longer than needed. He’s just a little...overprotective sometimes. Sorry, I should’ve just said I didn’t like you or something.”
Jungkook rose a brow while stretching his arms. “I don’t mind playing along if you need me to. But he kind of told me to give you another chance and continued to ramble about your great qualities.”
Jimin flushed a bright pink. “Jesus.” Jimin covered his face with his hands. “He’s so embarrassing.”
Jungkook smirked playfully. “I think we should. He’s my friend too, I don’t wanna seem like an asshole who didn’t give his best friend another chance.”
Well this Jimin didn’t expect. “You wanna go on a date...with me?”
Jungkook shrugged. “Yeah.” He pointed to himself. “Not an asshole, remember?”
“I feel bad making you do this. I feel worse if I continue this lie.” Jimin frowned.
Jungkook’s smile faltered but went unnoticed by Jimin. “Just one date hyung. So he can lay off the both of us.”
Jimin ran his fingers through his hair as he sighed. Jungkook’s eyes following the gesture. “Alright...Maybe you're right.”
Jungkook grinned at him. “Taehyung will be happy when he hears this.”
Jimin smiled weakly. His heart feel heavy and he doesn't know who he's doing this for anymore.
Jimin arrived home from dance wanting a cold shower. Taehyung was resting on the couch watching a romance drama, the couple on the screen were on a date. He had to force his mind to not imagine that being him and Jungkook. As soon as Taehyung spotted him, his face lit up. “I heard! Jungkookie told me he’d give you a chance. I think my convincing worked.”
Jimin rolled his eyes, throwing his shoes off, feeling his body ache. “More like you forced yourself on him even after I told you not to.”
“Only because I saw how much you like him.” Taehyung defended.
Jimin sunk onto the couch and looked at him in confusion. “What do you mean…”
Taehyung sighed and looked down at his hands with a sad smile, it hurt Jimin to see him that way. “You looked the same way I did when I...when I talked about my ex. But at least I know Jungkook’s not a dick.”
Jimin swallowed the lump in his throat. “What did I look like?”
Taehyung looked up at him with a smile before looking away with a sigh. “You just looked...fond, to say it simply. You’re eyes shimmered as you spoke his name, you had a slight blush to your cheeks, and...you looked disappointed when you said he probably doesn’t want to go on another date.”
Jimin can imagine his face being incredibly red right now. Maybe he liked Jungkook a lot more than he let himself believe. “Tae…”
“I know I’m always meddling in your business but I couldn’t help this pass by you. I want you to get something better than I did.”
Jimin saw a tear roll down his cheeks before Taehyung turned away from him. “Tae, look at me.”
“I’m gonna go to bed.”
“Tae!” Jimin grabbed his wrist and stood up, hugging him from behind. He ignored their height difference and leaned his forehead on the back of his neck. “I hate seeing you like this. I’m an asshole for talking about this when you still feel hurt.”
Taehyung turned around, still smiling despite everything. He hugged Jimin properly. “You’re never an asshole. I started this anyway.”
“Still.” Jimin sighed, massaging Taehyung’s scalp, knowing how much he liked that. “I’m sorry.”
Taehyung held in a whimper as he held tighter onto his best friend. Jimin dragged him to his room, throwing the blanket over their bodies. Jimin tried wiping his tears yet more fell onto the pillow. “Jiminie be happy okay?”
Jimin rubbed his back soothingly. “Enough of me, Tae. Before anyone else, i’m here for you.”
Taehyung snuggled closer to Jimin’s body. “Okay.”
“Why don’t you go to sleep, hm?” Jimin nosed the crown of his head.
Jimin had been texting Taehyung every chance he could get without getting caught from Hoseok. They were on break and Hoseok was currently helping out a few of the newer members with the moves. Jungkook sat beside Jimin and stared at him. “Hyung are you okay? You’ve been quiet today and distracted.” He glanced at the phone.
Jimin looked at him before staring at the mirrors across the room, he sighed. “Not really...I think I’m the real ass here.”
Jungkook furrowed his brows. “What do you mean?”
Jimin looked up trying to hold back his tears, an image of Taehyung’s face appearing in his mind. “I lied to Taehyung so that I can look good in front of him, not even considering how shitty he’s been feeling since his break up. He told me to be happy but that’s what I should be saying to him . What kind of best friend is that?”
Jungkook grabbed one of Jimin’s hands. “You’re not an asshole and you’re not a shit friend. Hyung, how were you supposed to know he felt like that when he was hiding it so well?”
Jimin glanced at Jungkook, seeing the concern in his face and it made him ache. “Best friends are supposed to know.”
Jungkook squeezed his hand. “No, best friends are there for comfort and all that, they’re not psychics hyung. You didn’t know he was feeling like this, now you do and you’ll be there for him. That doesn’t make you less of great friend.”
Jimin stayed in silence, thinking over the other’s words. Jimin leaned his forehead on his raised knees. His hand was still clasped in Jungkook’s and it felt better than he imagined. He didn’t wanna let go.
“Hey, hey. What’s up with you slackers-” Hoseok took note of Jimin’s distraught face and immediately had a face of worry. “Jiminie are you okay?” He glanced at Jungkook, then their hands, and back at Jimin.
Jimin smiled as best he could. “Yeah, sorry. I got...distracted. Is break over?” He stood up, reluctantly letting go of Jungkook’s hand, who looked at him with pursed lips.
“Are you sure you’re okay? I won’t mind you getting some rest at home.” Hoseok crossed his arms, trying to read his expression. It was something he always did when Jimin looked even a little unhappy.
“I’m fine, really.”
Hoseok huffed. “If you’re not dancing well, I’m gonna make you.” He walked off, telling everyone to get into their positions.
The beat of the song began slowly, once they got to the chorus Jimin stumbled in his step. The next time, he bumped into another guy. The following mistake, he forgot a dance move.
“Jimin!” Hoseok yelled over the music, he sighed. “Sorry. Can I have a word?” His face softened at Jimin’s guilty face. “Everyone else keep practicing!”
Jimin wiped his damp hand on his sweats, trying to ignore Jungkook’s hard stare. “I’m sorry hyung. I’ll do better-”
“I told you if you’re not doing well, I’d force you home. I wasn’t kidding. Listen, clearly something’s bothering you. You don’t have to tell me what it is if you don’t want to, but just go home and clear your head okay? Dancing half-assed isn’t going to help you, trust me. As your hyung, i’m looking out for you. As your dance leader, i’m going to use my position to tell you to go home. Don’t fight me on this Jiminie.”
Jimin sighed, he was angry. Angry at himself. “Don’t do this to me, please.”
Hoseok felt his heart break, but he wouldn’t accept no as an answer. “I’m not doing this because I want to. I know how much dancing means to you. I know it makes you feel better. I know. But it’s doing you no good. Please Jimin, just go take a walk, or take a nap.”
Jimin felt his eyes water. “Fine. I’ll go.” He walked off, grabbing his bag hastily, feeling angry and embarrassed. He walked out of the building, feeling tears rolling down his cheeks.
“Hyung! Hyung wait up!” Jimin turned around, to see Jungkook jogging towards him. Jungkook’s face turned into a worried frown. He rose his hands, cupping Jimin’s face and wiping his tears with his thumbs which made him want to cry even more. “Hyung...you’re thinking too much about this.”
“Jungkook…” Was the only thing that came out of his mouth before his voice cracked. Jungkook pulled him into a hug, sighing softly into his hair.
“That’s right, just let it all out. Cry all you want hyung.”
He did just that, he sobbed into Jungkook’s shoulder. He knew he was overthinking, but he couldn’t help it, it was something Jimin always did. He took a sniff, slowly releasing his tight grip on Jungkook’s shirt, but keeping his head on his shoulder. “This is so embarrassing.”
Jungkook chuckled, kissing Jimin’s head. The latter’s head jerked back and looked up at him with widened eyes. Jungkook’s eyes mirroring his. “O-Oh, um, sorry.”
Jimin looked down, biting hard on his bottom lip, Jungkook’s eyes following the movement. “It’s fine...I’m okay now, you should probably head back in.”
Jungkook fiddled with the hem of his shirt. What the hell was he thinking? “Actually Hoseok hyung told me to make sure you were okay. I thought i’d walk you home...if you don’t mind, obviously.”
Jimin looked up, only to look back down with a blush. “Sure. Thanks.” Jimin began walking, Jungkook walking closely behind him. “Sorry for breaking down on you. I wet your shirt.”
Jungkook shook his head. “You have nothing to be sorry about, and don’t worry about my shirt. If it’ll make you feel better, it’s no big deal.”
Jimin looked up at him and smiled, his eyes turning into pretty crescents. “You’ve been really nice to me. I know i’ve said this so much, it’s probably annoying now-” Jimin saw Jungkook open his mouth, ready to protest but Jimin spoke louder. “ But , I really really appreciate what you’ve done for me, even when you didn’t know me well when I asked for this favor.”
Jimin felt Jungkook’s hand brush his, but paid in no mind.
“I mean I feel like I did know you. We’ve been in the same dance class for two years now.” Jungkook said.
“But we’ve never spoken to each other until that moment.”
“True, but still. You didn’t feel like a stranger to me.” Jungkook shrugged. “Did I seem like one to you?”
Jimin paused to think. “No...no you didn’t feel like one.” And it was true, he’d always had an eye out for him, that he felt like no stranger, despite them not haven spoken in the years they did know each other.
Jungkook looked away to hide his grin. He realized that Jimin paused his walk, he looked at him to see they arrived at his building.
“Well, this is me. Thanks for walking me...um…” Jimin could feel his face heat up.
Jungkook stood in front of Jimin, and took his hands in his own. His thumb caressing his skin. “Feel better okay? If you feel like breaking down again, you can always call me okay? Anytime.”
Jimin looked up at Jungkook in amazement. Jungkook’s done so much for him, and his heart feels so warm. Jimin took a deep breath and shut his thoughts out. He wrapped his arms around Jungkook’s neck in a hug. He felt Jungkook tense up before relaxing and wrapping his own arms around Jimin’s waist. Jimin could feel Jungkook smiling beside his temple.
Jimin let go, wanting so much to return to his arms, and smiled at Jungkook. “Well, have a good night.”
Jungkook bit his bottom lip while smiling. “Yeah, you too hyung.”
Jimin giggled, turning around to walk in. “Hyung!” Jimin turned around at Jungkook’s voice, the latter grabbing Jimin’s hand in his.
“I don’t know if this is the right time to tell you this...but I can’t help it. I accepted your favor because I like you. A lot. I’ve always admired you from the moment I was accepted into dance. I fell in love with your gracefulness when you did your solos. I fell in love with your smile. I was too scared to say anything, so I just kept my distance.” Jungkook glanced at Jimin to see him wearing a face of shock. Jungkook cleared his throat to continue, “ Anyway...I like you, for real . I’d like to go out with you, if you feel the same way.”
“Oh wow.” Jimin whispered.
Jungkook panicked, he fucked up. Jimin probably didn’t feel that way- He paused his thought to look at Jimin in confusion, the latter breaking out into the biggest grin Jungkook’s seen, and it was beautiful.
“Jungkookie, holy shit!” Jimin giggled as he leaped onto his body and wrapped his arm around his shoulders. “I like you too! I’ve always been watching you. Wait- that sounds creepy, not like that.” His face was scrunched up and Jungkook couldn’t help the laugh that slipped out of his mouth.
He returned the hug, wrapping his arm around Jimin tightly, and twirling him around happily. Jungkook wanted nothing more but to listen to the happy giggles coming out of the smaller boy’s mouth, it was like music to his ears.
Once Jimin was put down, he looked up at Jungkook who was looking at him with doe-eyes.
“Can I...kiss you?” Jungkook asked, biting his lips worryingly and it made Jimin look at how red they were.
“Yeah.” Jimin said breathlessly.
Jungkook grabbed one of his hands while the other caressed his soft cheek. He leaned in slowly until they’re breaths were felt on each other’s skin. Jimin shut his eyes, and so Jungkook leaned in, getting pleasure from how soft and plush Jimin’s lip felt against his own. Jungkook sighed, and Jimin grabbed the back of Jungkook’s neck to pull him closer than they already were, slipping his tongue into Jungkook’s mouth. The latter let out a surprised gasp at the sensation of his warm tongue and the pull on the back of his hair. Jungkook bit the bottom of Jimin’s lip lightly until it slipped from him, causing him to open his eyes.
Jimin was slightly panting, his eyes glazed and his lips red. Jungkook felt his face heat up, feeling comfort in seeing Jimin’s cheeks equally as pink. Jimin smiled, looking down at his feet. Jungkook felt jittery, he pecked Jimin’s lips once more.
“I’ll uh...call you later?” Jungkook said, his blush deepening.
“Yeah, that’d be nice.” Jimin giggled. “Goodnight, Jungkookie.”
“Night Jiminie.” Jungkook saw his body leave into the building and he let out a long sigh of relief, his body feeling like mush. He really needed to sit down, or go home and take a cold shower.
Jimin hung his coat on the rack inside the hall of his apartment. He called out to Taehyung who responded with “I’m in the living room!” Taehyung was curled up on the couch watching the drama he’s been following up on, chewing on dessert.
“Um...so I have some news. Jungkook and I are uh, dating.” Jimin said with a blush on his face.
Taehyung widened his eyes, a huge smile on his face. “I’m so happy for you Jiminie!”
“Thanks.” Jimin felt his body go hot and wanted to change the subject. “How was class?” Jimin asked, taking a seat beside the taller boy, and leaning on his body.
Taehyung side-eyed him knowing what he was doing, but played along. “It was alright. I’m kinda tired to be honest. How come you're here earlier?”
Jimin pursed his lips, knowing he wasn’t tired only because of his classes, he probably also spent his entire day thinking about what happened last night. “Um I wasn’t doing well in dance, Hobi hyung sent me home.”
Taehyung turned his head to look at him with concern swimming in his eyes. “How come? He’s never sent you home before.”
Jimin sighed. He had to come clean to him, Taehyung deserved that, he deserved more but it was the least Jimin could do at this point. “I have something to confess.”
Taehyung looked at him hesitantly but nodded.
“I never went on a date with Jungkook- I mean I have now, but I didn’t the first time you asked about my last date. To be honest...I’ve never been on a date before.” Jimin rose his hands up in defense. “I know that you would never judge me and I trust you with all my life, but I was embarrassed to tell you that. So I said Jungkook’s name because well he’s in my dance class and I’ve had a low-key crush on him the entire time, I never thought you’d know him.”
Giggles came out of Taehyung’s mouth, and Jimin looked at him in surprise. Taehyung flicked him in the forehead. “You’re such an idiot. Why wouldn’t you tell me something like that? I’ve been pestering you about it too...but gosh, Jiminie! I don’t care, you don’t have to look so worried.” He put his index fingers between his furrowed brows.
“What…” Jimin whispered stupidly.
“Well you said you’re dating now right? So whatever happened before is in the past. Listen, i’m not dumb, I know you’ve been keeping quiet because you don’t wanna hurt my feelings but after my breakdown, I feel good. I mean it.” Taehyung gave him a genuine smile.
“I felt like shit lying to you. I still do.” Jimin frowned.
Taehyung slung his arm over Jimin’s shoulders. “Don’t!” He smiled, “You know, in a way I brought you and Jungkook together.” He smiled mischievously to his shorter friend.
Jimin rolled his eyes with a smile. “Yeah, yeah, okay matchmaker.” But he leaned closer to Taehyung. Jimin was being an idiot this entire time.
They were more than halfway through the episode when Taehyung speaks up again, “Hey, Jiminie?”
“I really am happy for you. You guys are a cute couple.”
Jimin felt himself blush but he also felt warmth in his chest. “Thanks Tae.” Jimin said softly.
Before they began dating, Jimin used to distract himself during dance class by stealing glances at Jungkook. But now that they were actually dating for three months, they would look at each other through the mirror, breaking out into smiles, always walking towards the other when there was a break, as if they were magnets for each other. Hoseok would constantly tease them, telling him to flirt outside of the studio.
It didn’t help that Jungkook got a hundred times more confident after they began dating and eventually got more comfortable with each other. If he was feeling like being a tease, he’d make sure to stare at Jimin through the mirror whenever there was a body roll, or make the moves seem sensual while biting his lip, never breaking contact with Jimin.
Jimin slumped against the wall on the floor, chugging down water, breathing heavily. Jungkook sat beside him soon after, kissing his cheek. Jimin scrunched his nose, “I’m sweaty.”
“And it’s weirdly attractive.” Jungkook said, letting out a chuckle.
Jimin laughed, “Speaking of attractive, you really have to stop staring at me the way you do through the mirror, it’s getting harder to dance.”
Jungkook wasn’t looking at him, taking gulps from his water bottle, but the smirk was evident. “I just love seeing you blush. Besides, it’s my little revenge for all those times I stared at you dancing and... shit hyung, you’re something else.”
Jimin smiled fondly despite the sexual meaning. “Thanks baby.” He leaned in to kiss Jungkook’s cheek, but laughed. “You’re sweatier than I am.” He wiped his mouth slightly. “Sorry, I don’t think i’ll be able to kiss you while we’re both sweaty.”
Jungkook grinned. “More kisses for me then!” He leaned in but Jimin kept leaning away, happy giggles leaving his mouth. It was one of Jungkook’s favorite sounds and the way his eyes formed crescents was the cutest.
“Oh god, get a room!” Hoseok whined as he walked towards the couple. “Break’s over love birds.”
Jungkook couldn’t stop smiling at Jimin planting kisses all over his face. “I don’t want this to end.”
Jimin hummed, kissing his neck.
“Hyung, you know we gotta meet Tae hyung soon and ah-” He let out a moan while Jimin bit and licked the sensitive spot below his ear. He could feel Jimin full on grinning now. “Hyung, cmon.” He put his hands on his boyfriend’s shoulders. Jimin huffed, giving him a quick peck. “Alright, alright.”
Jungkook ran his fingers through his hair, sighing happily. “You’re beautiful.”
Jimin blushed at the sudden compliment. “Y-You too...always.”
“If only Tae hyung wasn’t going to bring Namjoon hyung, I would’ve done a rain check on him.”
Jimin smiled. “It’s hard saying no to him regardless.”
Jungkook hummed in agreement, stroking Jimin’s sides. “You’re right.” He patted his thigh. “Let’s go then.”
Jimin and Jungkook sat in front of the other couple. They seemed embarrassed, a high flush to both their cheeks.
“What are you two shy about? It’s not like we’re meeting for the first time.” Jimin playfully said.
Taehyung scrunched his nose at him but he blushed harder. “Yeah whatever, don’t act like you weren’t a blushing mess when you first got together.”
Jungkook laughed the moment Jimin’s cheeks got pink. Jimin crossed his arms, though he had a soft smile on his face. “Well even though we’ve met plenty of times Namjoon hyung, I never got to say this to you; if you hurt Taehyung, I don’t care that you’re older, taller, or stronger, I will hurt you. I’m sure he’s told you but he’s been hurt, and I won’t let him get hurt again.” Jimin had his eyes narrowed but ended his small speech with another sweet smile.
Taehyung looked at Jimin with wide eyes, but he looked as grateful as ever. Namjoon widened his eyes in slight fear and nodded. “I wouldn’t want to hurt him, trust me.” Namjoon turned to look at Taehyung, interlocking their fingers, with a fond smile while Taehyung returned it with a goofy one.
Jimin and Jungkook looked at each other, thinking the same thing, they were both happy to see Taehyung genuinely smiling again and in love.
Jungkook snuggled closer to Jimin on the bed, reveling in the warmth of his body. Jimin kissed the top of his head.
“I’m so happy to be with you.” Jungkook mumbled into his neck, kissing softly under his jaw.
Jimin smiled. “Me too Jungkookie, me too.” Jungkook lifted his head, looking shy. Jimin tilted his head, while running his fingers through his boyfriend’s soft hair. “Hm? Something up?”
Jungkook bit his lip. “I-I love you.” His face was hot, a blush on his cheeks and the tip of his ears.
“Oh...” Jimin’s mouth was open before he grinned widely, he caressed Jungkook’s warm cheek. “I’m so happy! I love you too.” Jimin pulled Jungkook down to kiss his lips.
Jungkook grinned, snuggling back into Jimin’s neck. Jimin’s chest tightening with the best emotions possible. He never wanted for this day to end, just stay cuddling in his bed with his boyfriend, the sun peeking through the curtain, with only their breathing and kissing being echoed in the room.
