Chapter Text
I roll my eyes, completely unimpressed with Haru’s concern about his roommate. I hum, biting my tongue so I don’t speak my mind when the brunet tries to call him for the fifth time.
Eventually, I wrap my arms around Haru, hugging him from behind as I rest my chin on his shoulder. “He’s not going to answer, love. I’m sure he’s…busy, if you know what I mean.”
He shakes his head. “Rin, you don’t understand. We always text each other when we don’t come home.”
I tighten my arms around Haru. “Oh, really?”
He sighs, sensing my jealousy. “It’s not like that.”
I turn him around, snaking an arm around his waist as I possessively press my lips against his. Haru tenses when he feels my teeth on his bottom lip, but I have no intention to hurt him. I simply tease him with my teeth, before I leisurely trace his full, tempting bottom lip with the tip of my tongue.
“You’re mine,” I whisper against his lips.
I place both hands on his hips and start pushing him backwards towards his bed. I chuckle when his legs hit the bed and he falls on his back, instinctively licking my lips as I look at his body.
“I have practice tomorrow,” he weakly protests, whimpering when I push his T shirt up and start licking my way from his navel to his chest.
I’ve barely closed my lips around one of his nipple when his phone starts ringing. I’d like nothing more than to pin his wrists above his head and torment him with my tongue, but I sigh and get up, letting him take his phone.
Haru answers, his cheeks flushed as if the person on the other side can actually see him.
“Hello?” he insists, frowning. “Kaede?”
A loud scream pierces the silence and we both jump.
We hear Kaede’s voice yelling “Kyoko, run!”, before the call abruptly cuts off.
“What the fuck was that?” I ask, looking at Haru’s pale face.
~~~~~~~~~~
“Good riddance, if you ask me,” Hiyori comments.
Haru snaps his head in the direction of Hiyori, ready to argue, but the auburn haired man’s pale face and the dark circles under his eyes soften his gaze.
After the phone call, we’ve summoned all our friends to the hotel room Haru shares with Kaede and I’m honestly surprised Hiyori decided to show up.
It’s been a few days of only seeing Haru outside of practice and I expected to notice signs of fatigue on all our friends, but Hiyori looks the worst. I also remember that he complained about shoulder pain the last time we all went out together.
“Hiyori, how’s your shoulder?” I ask, extending my arm towards him.
The auburn haired man flinches when I place my hand on his right shoulder. Ikuya squints his eyes, but Hiyori shakes his head.
“I’m fine, just a little tired. My shoulder doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“You’re lying,” Ikuya snaps.
Hiyori shrugs, unable to meet his best friend’s gaze. “I’m not lying, it doesn’t hurt. More like my neck is stiff and I have a lot of headaches.”
I sigh. “You should get that checked.”
“Anyways, we’re here to talk about that traitor, right?” the auburn haired man asks a bit angrily, changing the subject. “What is it that you want us to do, Haru?”
The brunet hesitates, but I intervene. “Obviously, we should try to look for Kaede. And Kyoko as well..”
“Or report them as missing to the police,” Sayuri suggests.
Sousuke snorts. “You’re aware of the fact that they’ll ask us to wait at least twenty four hours before we can file an official missing person report, right?”
“Yes, but we can use that time to search for them ourselves,” she replies, frowning. “Something bad has happened to them.”
“At least we can rule Ji Hoon out, right?” Asahi inquires. “He’s still in Australia. Right?”
Haru shrugs with one shoulder. “He posted a pic three hours ago on his Insta page, claiming to be in Sydney, but it’s not like he can’t do that from another location.”
Hiyori’s phone vibrates and he squints his eyes as he reads his text. “Sorry, but I have to go back to practice. My coach has called me to the swimming pool.”
“Hiyori, you’ve trained all day. It’s not normal to train late in the evening, too,” Ikuya comments.
Hiyori throws his best friend a look, as if to warn him to mind his own business, then simply gets up from his chair. “It’s fine. See you later, guys.”
He walks out the door before any of us get a chance to say anything. Ikuya bites on his thumb, obviously concerned and Haru gently places his hand on the teal haired man’s shoulder. “Do you want to leave with him?”
Ikuya shakes his head. “He doesn’t let me practice with him. Hiyori told me that if I want to train with a coach, I should find my own.”
“That was cruel,” I comment. “And unlike Hiyori, am I right?”
Ikuya nods. “That’s what I thought as well. Anyways, back to Kaede and Kyoko…Haru, what do you think we should do?”
“First of all, I want to ask all of you to leave my sister out of this,” he replies. “The Grand Prix Final starts in two days and she doesn’t need any distraction.”
“I agree,” Ikuya says.
“Then…I don’t know, I think Sayuri is right. I don’t know what else to do,” he continues, his voice quiet.
I swing an arm over his shoulders, wordlessly showing my support.
“Yes, but…were can we even begin to look for them?” Sousuke asks.
That’s the question we’ve all been asking ourselves.
~~~~~~~~~~
I can’t help but smile as I watch Haru resurface after leisurely swimming. Our practice with the coaches was over for the day, but like always, my boyfriend wanted to cool down in the pool.
It feels so good being able to call him my boyfriend again. I was such a fool, fighting against my feelings and letting my pride and jealousy get in the way.
I bite my bottom lip as I watch him take his swim cap off and shake the water out of his hair. He’s so sexy when he moves like this, even though he doesn’t even know how much his small gesture turns me on.
Haru raises his head and looks at me, a small smile playing at his lips. Scratch that, he knows exactly what he’s doing.
I walk towards the edge of the pool, then offer him my hand and help him get out of the pool. There are a few swimmers around and I keep telling myself to behave, because I don’t want to give the reporters a new subject to grill us about at the upcoming press conference.
No matter how wrong it is, I hate that as soon as we leave the pool, we’re going to try to look for Kaede and Kyoko again. Just like Sousuke said, the police advised us to wait forty eight hours until we make an official report, because couples run away together all the time. Us explaining that those two are both swimming in the upcoming competition fell on deaf ears.
I hear my name and turn around in time to see Jordan, an Australian swimmer waving at me. I make my way towards him, offering him a polite smile and ready to make a random excuse. He’s the type that never shuts up once he starts talking.
“Hey, Rin, how’s practice? Ready to get your ass kicked?” he asks, chuckling.
I roll my eyes. “I’ve been swimming all day, I’m tired as hell,” I reply.
“I’ve discovered this new diet, man, let me tell you all about it,” he continues.
“No need,” I retort, already turning to face Haru. “We’re actually leaving…”
My words get stuck in my throat as I notice a swimmer, a tall guy twice the size of Haru run in the direction of my boyfriend. Another swimmer is chasing him, but even from a distance, it looks staged.
“Haru!” I call out, but it’s too late.
My boyfriend only manages to turn his head towards me, before the tall guys slams hard into him. They fall on the edge of the pool in a tangle of limbs and Haru’s painful yell freezes my blood.
The brunet rolls into the pool and the tall guy gets on his knees. “I’m sorry, it was an accident,” he says, but I don’t pay any attention to him.
I’m about to jump in the water when Haru comes us, his eyes wide, as he holds onto the lane rope.
“Haru, are you okay?” I ask him, my voice shaking.
I push my hand towards him, ready to help him out of the water, but Haru isn’t moving. His whole body is trembling, so I decide to go into the water myself and check on him.
“Love, what’s wrong?” I whisper softly as soon as I’m in front of him.
Haru lets go of the lane rope and grips his left elbow with his other hand. “I…my elbow.”
My stomach drops and I feel like throwing up. However, I can’t afford to lose my shit right now. Faking calm, I gently guide Haru out of the water.
All I can do is take him to the ER and hope his elbow isn’t broken.
