Lan Zhan nods. “Who should I make it out to?” he asks.
“Wei Wuxian,” Jin Ling says.
Lan Zhan drops his pen. “Who?” he croaks.
Ouyang Zizhen lets out a soft gasp beside him. “Oh fuck, it’s happening.”
“Wei Wuxian,” Jin Ling says slowly. This doesn’t look like someone who thinks sixteen years is too long to fix a misunderstanding. Jin Ling is going to get his dajiu a husband today. “My dajiu really liked your new album. There are a lot of details in your songs that feel very personal to him.”
(Or, Jin Ling schemes to reunite his dajiu with his dajiu's high school sweetheart.)

Lan Xichen pauses before he speaks. He often does. “A-Yao, will you…?”
There are any number of things that Lan Xichen might be about to say. He might be about to say, “A-Yao, will you cook breakfast while I bathe in the river?” But then, there is a gravity to his tone, and a flush on his cheeks. So perhaps it will be, “A-Yao, will you do that thing with your tongue?” Or even more thrillingly, “A-Yao, will you teach me how to do that thing with your tongue?”
Lan Xichen does not say any of these things. He says, “A-Yao, will you marry me? If we both survive the war, will you marry me?”
Lan Xichen proposes before the war. Somehow, through the property of transitivity, Wei Wuxian becomes Meng Yao’s problem to solve.

“Sweetheart! I’m so so late, sorry, sorry, a thousand apologies! Aiya, how could I have made you wait like this! You would not believe the time I’ve had trying to get here!” As the stranger spoke, he smoothly made his way to Lan Zhan’s table and plopped down in the seat across from him. Lan Zhan had never seen him before in his life, and yet here he was, stowing his bag at his feet and looking every inch the penitent boyfriend. He briefly wondered if he had somehow crossed into a parallel universe, because what.
Lan Zhan gets stood up. Somehow, he ends up with a boyfriend anyway.

A-Yuan goes missing.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Lan Wangji hisses, foregoing being polite, because what kind of police officer provokes a confrontation between a kidnapper and their four years old victim without even a warning?
He tugs on A-Yuan’s hand, already thinking of the strongly worded letter he’s going to send to whatever administration is in charge, but A-Yuan is rooted on spot.
“Please sit down, Sir” the policewoman gestures to the free seat in front of her desk. “There’s some explaining to do, nothing you need to worry about. And you” she narrows her eyes at the kidnapper, “I promise it won’t kill you, so do yourself a favor and try to behave for once in your life, else I’m putting you back in your cell.”
“I always behave, I’m behaving right now. How can I not behave?” the man whines, shaking his handcuffed wrists to prove his point. “You’ve got me tied up to a chair, Wen Qing! No sleep, no food, not even a coffee. The quality of service in this place is seriously awful. I’m giving it one star, you’re lucky I know you.”
They get off to a bad start but this is all very soft, just wangxian getting the happiness they deserve with their son.
