    Summary

Kaeya was used to doing things himself, because the only person he'd trusted to have his back nearly killed him. If he couldn't get the Knights to help, he'd simply do it himself. Who better than he to get it done, aside from perhaps Jean?

He should have known he'd end up here.

    Summary

Kaeya has been living with Lumine for about a month now. He's fallen into a routine with her, given in to the domestic moments they share cuddling on the couch from time to time. It's no wonder that one of these tender and precious moments he's come to love is turned sour with a painful reminder of what he is.

    Lumine thinks otherwise.

    Summary

“A home?” Kaeya hadn’t expected the sudden curiosity into his living situation. He hadn’t thought much of the house he resided in, especially since he’s hardly ever there longer than a few days. Either because he’s off who knows where completing who knows what for the knights, or, like today, he’s practically glued to the traveler’s side. “I have a house back in Mond if you’re concerned on that front, but I’m far too often working late to make it back at a reasonable hour.”

“I didn’t ask if you had a house, Kaeya.” Lumine’s tone was gentle, laced with concern and perhaps something else. Something the knight was doing his best to not give into. “I asked if you have a home.”

    ---

In which, Kaeya gets the home.

    Summary

Zhongli tossed his spear forward with a practiced, careless ease that left Childe breathless. Seemingly in slow motion, Zhongli raised a foot, kicking the butt of the spear with enough force that Childe could hear a solid thunk all the way where he stood. The spear was sent spiraling forward, piercing straight through the armored chest of the ruin guard, ending it's sad, mechanical life instantly.

Distantly, Childe was overcome by the very sudden and out of nowhere thought that he wouldn’t mind having Zhongli kick his spleen in half with the same force.

    --

Or, Childe is a Zhongli simp and doesn't know how to deal with it, Zhongli is a himbo, and the two are stuck out in the wilderness on a pointless fetch quest because I needed a reason for them to run into ruin guards. Also hair braiding because why not.

    Summary

This isn't his business, Aether knows. No matter what is going on in that room right now, no matter how inconceivable a scenario it might be, he has no right to eavesdrop or investigate. He's familiar with the saying, curiosity killed the cat, and he knows he'd do well to take the adage to heart. Whatever is going on in that room has nothing to do with him, and he needs to turn around right now, go to the guest room that Diluc is so graciously lending him, and go to sleep.

Like a cat with a death-wish, he doesn't turn around; he keeps moving forward, one foot in front of the other, spurred on by the pull low in his gut—this feeling that he's failing spectacularly at pretending is non-existent, especially when it's screaming at him louder than anything else.
