Catra makes it all the way to twenty-five with no tattoos to speak of. Most notably she, unlike so many of her peers, did not rush out to get her soul mark the moment she was of legal age to get tattooed. It was a point of pride, when she was young, to not need to find some supposed soulmate. To not even really want it. Now it’s more a matter of practicality. Half the “artists” who claim to harness the magic of soul marks are nothing more than charlatans.
No, she’s much better off not bothering. And that’s the principal she sticks to, that is until Scorpia’s thirtieth birthday rolls around just a month after Honor of Greyskull Ink opens on their block....

Rare neutral ground between the warring forces of the Eternian Empire and the Galactic Horde, Etheria Station is a safe haven nestled in the center of the Whispering System.
Adora finds herself a deserter of both the Horde and the Eternian forces; seeking refuge in the only place in the galaxy left to her, she struggles to figure out what kind of life she wants to lead on Etheria Station now that she isn't a soldier any more. It doesn't take long for Catra to show up on the station, claiming that she's defected from the Horde, but Adora can't shake the feeling that of all the Horde's covert operatives, Catra is the one most uniquely qualified to successfully pull off a delicate 'retrieval' of a wayward Force Captain Adora.

“Fuck, Catra,” Adora gasps.
Catra presses a hand over her mouth, muffling her noises. “Quiet, princess,” she purrs, then drags her rough tongue up the column of Adora’s neck, humming at the pleasant tang of salt on her skin. “We wouldn’t want anyone waking up and coming to see what’s going on, would we?” She shifts her weight, pinning Adora more firmly into the training mat below.
Adora shakes her head, squirming beneath her.
“That’s what I thought.”
Catra comes back from a long mission and is eager to reunite with her wife.

“What’s the last thing you remember?”
Catra stares at her with narrowed eyes. She isn’t sure she can trust her, or anything, at this point. At the same time, though, she feels like she doesn’t have any other options. The Fright Zone is conquered. She has nowhere to go. “... Activating the Portal. And then I woke up here.”
Adora sucks in a quick breath. Catra’s eyes dart over to her—she looks like she’s about to be sick, white-knuckled and pale.
Scorpia’s brows knit together. “Catra, that happened over five years ago.”
Catra loses her memory. She struggles to find her place in an unfamiliar world, somewhere between hating Adora and loving her.
