Summary
"“Good answer,” a deep voice rumbled behind him, and Jaskier leaned backwards to see a looming white-haired form towering behind him. A shiver ran down his spine. He hadn't even heard the man come in. And that voice!
“Papa! Jaskier's here!” Ciri cried, scrambling from her stool to throw herself at the man.
“I can see that, cub.”
Jaskier turned to better take in the view: fantastic shoulders, a jawline you could cut yourself on, hazel eyes so rich they could be called golden, and a soft smile turned towards the girl who was positively dwarfed in his presence. Ooh. Jaskier might just have found his new muse."
Unable to take the pressures of his music career anymore, Jaskier finds himself in the middle of nowhere, Wales, in the small town of Kaer Morhen. He never dreamed, when he first arrived, that he would one day call the place home.

Summary
So why, when he had found himself with everything he wanted- needed- was the pit inside his stomach nothing more than an empty void. A sinking feeling in his chest. An ache in his heart that would not seem to subside. He felt the heaviness behind his eyes, the sting of unshed tears.
Abandoned, again.
Only, Eskel had told him, made sure he knew that the witcher would be gone before he awoke. And Lambert, well he hadn’t said a word in either direction. But Jaskier had been clear. When they first approached him, he had told them in no uncertain terms that they would travel down the mountainside together, then go their separate ways.
So, not abandoned.

Summary
"You see, one of my pets has gone and injured itself," the lord tells him, staring from across the food-laden table Jaskier had been forced to sit at no more than five minutes prior. "I'd thought you were the best man to get it back in proper working order."
"I'm not much of a healer, let alone a zoologist," Jaskier says, slow and uncertain.
Strangely, his captor only seems to agree with him. "No," he says, head cocking to the side as he considers Jaskier, a strange smile on his face. "—but you are an expert on witchers."
"On witchers...?" Jaskier echoes, before the meaning behind those words hit him. His eyes widen.
Was this man saying he owned a pet witcher?
Disgust curls low in Jaskier's gut, and it takes everything in him not to sneer in the bastard's face.
Guess he won't be escaping any time soon, then.
(Or, Jaskier gets kidnapped to nurse a 'pet' witcher back to health, and ends up getting far more attached than he means to. The Cats are heavily based on WhoopsOK's Songbird Cats, but they don't appear until later in the story.) -

Summary
Radovid rose in the late morning to instruct the king’s valet on preparations for the witcher’s imminent reception—a banquet to be held at the close of the week, to welcome the witcher and appease the court. Jaskier lazed in Radovid’s bed well past noon, lounging and dozing and gazing around at all the rich finery that surrounded him in the palace, and pondering the life he forfeited to be exactly where he was.
Not much of a life, some would say, to wander the continent with the simple goal of sharing stories and songs, when by birthright, he belonged in a palace. But after decades of nobility and splendor, Jaskier found himself yearning for some kind of adventure to break him out of the ordinary.
He supposed that would be what he was getting, with Geralt of Rivia coming to call.
—
Many years after graduating from the Academy of Oxenfurt, Jaskier has become the official court bard of the Redanian monarchy in Tretogor, and the lover of Prince Radovid. When a mysterious tragedy befalls King Vizimir, the past comes knocking, and Jaskier will have to navigate the treacherous waters of romance and purpose—stirred by a witcher he met once, fourteen years ago.

Summary
Jaskier really didn't mean it. He had this... thing. He's not sure if he was born like this, but for as long as he could remember he's been this way. It's not that he was a Source or had his own innate chaos, more so chaos just seemed to like him. You weren't doing yourself any favors by deciding to stick around him. He was 14 when he realized he was the equivalent of a walking curse.
His caregivers and guardians knew it, teachers knew it, lovers knew it, and he's sure the witcher knew it too. Except for the fact Geralt had gotten the misconception in his head that it wasn't that Jaskier had "terrible luck," it was that he was "terribly lucky."
In which Jaskier really is the shit-shoveler. It's still mean to say out loud though.

Summary
There’s a chill dancing over the platform. The type of bitter cold that finds its way through each and every layer. Nipping at goose-pimpled flesh and sapping every ounce of warmth that’s been accrued throughout the working day.
Despite the amount of bustling bodies surrounding him, and the thick wool scarf wrapped tightly around his neck, Jaskier can’t seem to regain any of his former heat. There’s a light dusting of fresh white snow settled over his shoulders. It shimmers through the dark waves of his hair as he shakes what he can free, ending with an almost full body shiver that has him tugging the oversized scarf ever tighter around his shivering torso.

Summary
“And now,” Jaskier announced, after he’d sung a number of songs and the other musicians had given their solo performances, “I’ll be closing the night with a rousing ballad—one that’s become quite a fan favorite of mine in recent years.”
He began plucking the strings of his lute in something of a melancholic tone. Giddy whispers went through the room. And he began to sing:
“I hear… you’re alive. How… disappointing.”
At the end of the line, Jaskier’s voice was scarce more than a whisper, and like gravel besides. Geralt closed his eyes.
“I’ve also survived, no thanks to you.”
He knew what this was.

Summary
He was not pining, for gods’ sake. Jaskier did not pine.
It was just… didn’t it all feel so… unfinished? There was that fateful night where Jaskier had purchased that glorious spell-in-a-bottle, which ended in Geralt wrecking him until he could hardly ride his gelding the next morning. That had been followed by a scant few weeks together on the road, burrowed together in bedrolls against the autumn air, reliving the bliss of Geralt’s touch on him, like fiery runes tracing down his ribs and spine and thighs.
And then, what, Geralt off and disappears for the mysterious Kaer Morhen? No parting word on what the hell had happened between them, not so much as a “let’s do this again soon” or an “I’ll miss you”? Nothing beyond the affirmation that they would meet up again here once spring arrived, at the inn which they now parted ways? Hell, Jaskier would’ve taken a brisk “nice ass” before Geralt reined Roach down the left fork of the road as snow settled on the withered brown fields surrounding them, sentencing Jaskier to sleepless nights wondering just where it all left them.

Summary
So Radovid slowly marched on, teeth chattering as he shivered from the cold. His arms held the blanket closed as best as he could to keep the icy wind at bay, but it didn't really help. He stifled a sob and focussed on each step ahead. He couldn't afford to break down in the wilderness.
or
Radovid had managed to leave Tretogor before Vizimir's assassination and was ready to follow Jaskier and his witcher to make up for his previous betrayal. Turns out it was not so easy for sheltered royalty to brave and survive the wilderness as Radovid thought. And he was no step closer to finding the person that his heart was yearning for.

Summary
They were worried of course, but it read it strangely, more apprehension than fear.
It was all rather strange, honestly, this sudden illness, this strange behaviour. This… air of suspense. There was definitely something they weren’t telling him, and it was driving Jaskier mad, trying to guess what it was.

The bard stepped closer. The heat, just like the cold, did not bother him. Neither did the smoke. Jaskier extended his hand and caressed the flame. It passed through his fingers without harming him. His eyes tracked down to see a smoldering collection of bones. Little else remained but a ring Jaskier was certain belonged to him.

Summary
"He hated days like this. He was meant to be bright and cheerful, in love with the world and everyone in it. Most of the time, he was. But sometimes, there were days like this when everything was flat and grey and somehow distanced from him in some indefinable way.
The door to the inn swung open, letting in a gust of cold wind, and he watched as Geralt stepped in. Jaskier felt tears prick his eyes at the sight. He'd felt too many emotions about the witcher for too long, and they were always worse, harder to bury, on days like this."
Jaskier's having a rough day, even if he can't put it into words. It doesn't matter; Geralt knows him well enough to tell, anyhow.
