    yellow_caballero's Original Summary:

In Melanie’s defense, she wouldn’t have had to do it if working at the Magnus Institute wasn’t so freaking boring.

In which Daisy falsifies a CV, Basira quits Artifact Storage and unleashes psychological warfare upon her new boss, Melanie narcissistically vlogs her increasingly unproductive workplace, and Jon makes a new friend.

And if you can't get ahead, get even.

    Summary

The eyes didn't so much open as...emerge, pushing up through each raw spot of skin. They crawled out of her cheeks and into the light, countless eyes, each lidless and tiny but unmistakable.
"You've been so worried what would happen if your wife knew your sins," she said, "that you forgot God already knows."

    Summary

After having killed Jonah Magnus and ended the Change, Jon and Martin should finally be able to rest. Rest, however, proves impossible when Jon falls ill. What's more, he begins having vivid dreams of their dead friends - Tim, trapped in the destroyed Archives, and Sasha, trapped outside of them. As Jon's condition quickly worsens and the line between dream and reality begins to blur, love is all he and Martin have to hold on to, because hope is a dangerous thing.

    Summary

Martin clings to Jon as they fall, clings to his bleeding lover as the roaring of the void and the screeching of the tapes drowns out any words either of them have. He clings to Jon and prays to whatever gods may exist that everything will end up alright.
Then he collapses onto cold linoleum, stumbling into a harsh metal filing cabinet. The roaring and screeching is gone, and the harsh silence makes his ears ring... or maybe that's the head wound.

When he finally opens his eyes, he isn't sure what he expected to see, but its not the middle of the archives with Sasha and his younger self staring back at him.

    Summary

They’re swirling down the drain of reality, the stopper pulled, the fears and Jon and Martin freefalling into the negative space outside existence, and there is everything and nothing at one and Martin’s holding Jon and holding the knife and then he’s holding nothing and then the knife is through him and then Jon’s back in his arms and he tries so hard not to let go, he can’t, not now, and Jon is all bright burning eyes and mummified in cassette tape and gagged with spiderweb and then--

--and then Martin isn’t falling anymore. He’s dangling. Upside down, leg bound tight, staring down into the massive, unforgiving jaws (chelicerae, says Jon’s flat apocalypse-googling voice, from a memory that feels simultaneously ancient and like it won’t happen for many years, spiders’ jaws are called chelicerae) of what he can only assume is the Mother of Spiders.

(Jon and Martin get separated. Neither of them is going to let that be the end of the story.)

    Summary

At the end of the world, the Archivist stood watch. He stood and he watched for minutes, for hours, for years, for decades, for a time when time did not exist, he watched.

And then he blinked, and Jonathan Sims was back before everything went wrong. He was back, and he had another chance to protect those he cared for, to protect the world.

But first, he needs to learn how to act like nothing had changed in the Jon that everyone else knew.

Besides the constant fear of death, that part is definitely the most difficult.

(Or, Jon gets sent back in time, chaos ensues.)

After a remarcable strange event, a lot of new statement givers will be arriving at The FORMER Magnus Institute...as well as 'regular' staments and the drama you can always expect from this disfunctional bunch (but I promise not sad ending, this is NOT A TRAGEDY).

    Summary

So we know what classes the Magnus Institute staff would be if they were DnD characters, right? So what if they actually wound up in the Forgotten Realms setting? And had to delve into dungeons, and fight dragons, all while navigating returning memories of past lives in a world where the gods were nothing but Fear?

OR: Martin Blackwood gets to travel around the Forgotten Realms being an Actual Bard with his (no longer eldritch monster) boyfriend, gathering up the reincarnations of their dead friends along the way. There's also another apocalypse to stop, and people keep telling him he has to be the hero, and he's *really* unhappy about this.

Oh, and there's some pesky proof that the Extinction actually became a thing, in the form of a space marine from well after the world went back to normal, and that Martin, Jon, and said space marine all knew each other in *yet another* past life.

At least Jonah Magnus isn't hanging around. (Really. He's not. We want no part of him here.)

This fic is specifically a re-written version of a DnD game my writing partner and I are playing together, and we enjoyed the story so much we wanted to share. Enjoy!

    Summary

Jonathan Sims' first day as the Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute didn't entail figuring out how to tackle the mess his predecessor had left the archives in as he planned. No, Jon's first day in his new job ended with him in the hospital, well before he could even get started. In his convalescence, voices and images whisper to him, and when he awakes he is plagued by two questions: Who is Jonah? And what dangers does the Magnus Institute truly hide?

    Summary

On the top of a hill, in the centre of the Twisting City lies the Great Library. Its pointed spires scraped the bellies of clouds on rainy days, and by night travellers used its lights as a beacon to navigate. Within in halls lies a thousand years of history and knowledge, studied and protected by draconic scholars and those under their tutelage. Rarely seen, the dragons of the Eye bear witness to the world and record all that they see.

But something is not right within the Library. An eye opens, bloodshot and hungry, and history is about to repeat itself.

Or "I wanted to turn half the tma characters into dragons for fun and created an overly complicated au to make it happen". Seriously, the amount of world building that went into making this have any semblance of sense is a little overwhelming, but I hope you all enjoy the ride.

    Summary

It's 1992 and Martin Blackwood is working happily in the library of the Magnus Institute when an old notebook gets delivered to his door. Amidst major changes at work and a mystery surrounding the current Head Archivist, Gertrude Robinson, Martin shrugs off the lack of explination.

In 1892, exactly a hundred years in the past, Jonathan Sims is suspicious of the new notebook that has turned up on his doorstep, but he's got a lot to think about in his new job as Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, newly opened under his colleague Jonah Magnus.

There's nothing to connect them, really. Nothing but a few pages and some ink.

    Summary

Where do I begin, with the Bouchard set and all that happened? I’d hoped to talk to another person, face-to-face, who would reassure me that my experiences weren’t half- or misremembered, that what happened that night was real, and could be categorised somehow. But maybe it will be easier if I just write the whole thing out. I’ve always processed my feelings through writing, I suppose--poetry, typically, but this calls for prose. Like it was a story that happened to someone else. It feels like it, looking back, those hazy days of sun-drenched glory, where we were all so much younger and more idealistic. Nothing could touch us back then--or so we believed, anyway.

Statement of Martin Blackwood, regarding the events of his student career at Avebury University.

A tribute to golden nostalgia, the idiotic beauty of youth, esoteric rituals used as an excuse to get roaringly drunk with friends, and bonds so strong they transcend everything.

    Summary

Jon's been hurt before. Far too much and far too often. He has kept his feelings close to his chest for far longer than healthy, but he cannot help it. When he stumbles into a coffee shop late at night and meets Martin, a friendly barista who he likes just a bit too much, he starts to think that maybe things will be a bit better after all.

Slowly, though, things begin to unravel and Jon must grasp onto that which makes him human in order to survive.

    Summary

Snippets of Daisy and Basira’s relationship during the course of the podcast, following the shift in the dynamic between the two of them as I see it. This is flavoured a little by how I see the two of them through the lens of someone who ships them.

Excerpt from Chapter One; "I live close to here,” Daisy said, voice unsure compared to her normal brusk tone, “If you want to come for a drink?” The offer was light and there was no pressure there, just a simple offer between colleagues. Even now, Basira didn’t know enough about Daisy to call her a friend, which was what made her think twice about going back to her flat. Anything could happen to her there and no one would know, even though she hadn’t ever felt threatened by Daisy. She knew what she could do when she wanted to, the power that Daisy held.

“Sure,” Basira nodded, and Daisy started to walk again. It turned out that ‘close’ by Daisy’s estimation was still another 15 minutes of walking, and by the time they’d made it back to her flat the cold had settled into their bones."
