Summary
The music stopped and you couldn’t pinpoint where it had come from until it started up again. It was a different tune this time, one you hadn’t ever heard him whistle before. Your heart hammered in your chest and your feet couldn’t establish hold. When the whistling faded again, you forced yourself to walk. Calm. Collected. Poised. You tried to remember those things, though they were never ideals you had thought around him before. You were goofy around him. You cracked jokes to garner a smile, which you saw as a mediocre success. Getting him to laugh was the goal.
You hadn’t noticed that you had broken into a run, flying down the path that the two of you had stomped together after more than ten years of making it your own. It made sense that he was down here, but what didn’t make sense was why he hadn’t come to see you first.
You burst into the clearing where the river met the bank. You had spent most of your time here. It felt like you’d never left.
“Gene?”
No response. He was nowhere to be seen. You were certainly crazy now for your own mind to fabricate your old best friend’s whistling-

The middle of a war isn't exactly the best time to be figuring out whether your feelings for your best friend are more than platonic, but no one ever claimed that Captain Benjamin Tallmadge was a pragmatic man.
A Band of Brothers inspired World War II AU filled with sappy moments and increasingly oblivious Commanders.

Summary
The wind was crisp, clinging to his bones, but he continued forth as the leaves crunched under his feet. How many years has it been now? How long since he last touched the same soil as his comrades years before? It was hard to tell the difference between past and present. With every step, his mind was transported back to the cold, to the shouts and pain surrounding him.

Summary
Hazel Parker of the WAC, Catherine McCown of SPARs and Elizabeth Elliot of the Cadet Nurses' Corps take part in Operation Virago which will send 250 women to the front lines to fight alongside men. The government, along with the War Department and direction from General Eisenhower decide this is a secret, covert operation that the public will be shielded from, to see how integrating women into war will work.
Each of the 250 women come with their own ambitions of what they want from war and why they signed up in the first place to be apart of this program. They become split into each of the 5 branches with leverage from each of the branch commanders, and split into groups of 2, 3, or 4 women and are placed into their different respective branches.
Hazel Parker, Catherine McCown and Elizabeth Elliot are placed into the 101st Airborne, the first 3 women to be apart of the Airborne. These 3 women become part of the 506th and are put under 2nd Battalion, in Easy Company. This Company, the men in it, and the friendships and ever-lasting bonds they recreate might just change their lives, forever.

Ad Astra Per Aspera is the sequel to The Soldier of Stars.
Waking up disoriented and inside a hospital, that has the dingy army issued light bulbs, the rough cots and the smell of despair is not how Hazel thought her new year would start, especially with the pulsing wound that lies in her side. Hazel Parker, severely injured and mentally unstable, lies in wait at a field hospital, as Easy Company continues to battle the tortures of the war.
Catherine McCown, Elizabeth Elliot and Easy Company, are struggling, especially after the major losses of Bill Guanere and Joe Toye or others like Donald Hoobler and especially Skip Muck and Alex Penkala and most importantly, the tiny sniper Hazel Parker. Each loss pushed Easy into a darker time, a darker reality that they would ultimately have to face if they were to make the attack on Foy.
Through the ups and downs of the ending of the war Ad Astra Per Aspera follows Easy's ending to the war as well as Hazel's undying story of love and war, as well as the thoughts of the stars and the will to keep fighting even if you're hurting.

Summary
Natalya Schultz was 15 when President von Hindenburg had died, followed by the rule of Adolf Hitler. Since the end of the Great War, and Germany's surrender, she would never have expected that her life would also be entangled with bombs and artillery. But now, as she was trapped in a cell with 3 other students, her hope in her motherland, her faith in her leader, and her loyalty to her family, were being tested.
Joseph Liebgott enlisted in the Paratroopers just a few days after Pearl Harbor was bombed by the Japanese. He had never expected to be falling from the sky over the greenlands of France, into combat with only his training, his rifle, and the prayers against his lips to keep him safe. But now, as he watched over a group of German students from the Nazi's most elite nursing school, his self-control and his morals were being tested.
Two sides of the same coin: Everything they thought they had known about the war, the enemy, and themselves would change forever.

Summary
Piano keys were her childhood, but the grasp of a pistol was her reality. Polish SOE Agent, Natia Filipska, has lurked among the rubble and the shadows of her occupied-Warsaw for years, ever since the war started and ripped her from the life that had guaranteed happiness and opportunity. The SOE took her in, as well as her two siblings, Klimeck and Ryzshard, arming them with a fighting spirit, and a chance at survival, at a life where they could avenge the ones that were taken. Being apart of the Cichociemni came next, Elite Polish Paratroopers, and it was their ticket home. Ever since her feet had then touched the ground, she had been fighting with her home and her people - the Polish Home Army. The Warsaw Uprising got her captured, and then being on the run nearly got her killed - her only ally was the pistol at her side. The Dutch Resistance of Eindhoven, Holland housed her, but it would never be her home.
Upon liberation though, her path crossed with an Airborne Infantry - the 101st Airborne Division - the Screaming Eagles - American men. To ensure her safety back to Warsaw, Poland and her family, Easy Company and their men might be her only hope. But hope was lost long ago.

Before the war, enlistment had meant steady jobs for her brothers and the Great War that had long since passed. Now, it means concealing her name in the desperate hope that she can help in any way she knows how. And as fate would have it, history changes its course when she is placed among the likes of everyday men who, too, are to rewrite what it means to be a soldier for the United States. And with the men of Easy Company, Marley realizes that to make it through the Hell that is war, she has to embrace the fact that her once careful way of life will never be hers to live again.

“So?” you asked Bill, eyebrows raised expectantly.
He had reached inside his jacket as soon as Toye turned to leave, but withdrew his hand empty. “Patience is a virtue,” he intoned pedantically, his cocky smirk returning in the absence of Joe Toye.
“Yeah, one you lack just as much as me,” you replied and he chuckled.
“I’ll give you that.” He thrust his hand back inside his coat and pulled out something tied in a plaid handkerchief, and then hesitated before handing it to you. “Promise me you won’t laugh at me, yeah?”

Estivate (verb)
1. to spend the summer, as at a specific place or in a certain activity."When he would make a small movement, his nose might brush against Eugene's shoulder or his hand might brush against his arm. It was all an imprecise dance set to the tune of humming cicadas. He would take a deep breath, inhaling the smell of oak and of the lemony soap that Eugene used."
