Description:

Remember when dream novels were a thing back in the 2006-2014 TeniPuri fandom? This series is just a collection of characterXOC fictions written in a dream novel style. Will likely include other fandoms asides from TeniPuri. Requests can also be taken; just leave a comment.

Notes:

What is a Dream Novel? How is it different from second person/"you"-based stories?
Dream Novels (DNs) were a type of fanfiction where a user could input their first and last names in a prompt and the HTML script would replace the default name in the story with their own name. DNs were (typically) written in a third person perspective, so the user could read about themselves falling in love with the main character of the story. They were self-indulgent in nature and were mainly romantic. Some of the more notable DN sites back in the day were TeniYume, Endless Dreamers, just once, Chibi Dreams, Dance Robot, My Neoromance, Frozen Time and World of Homework. Almost all of them had their domains expired and the stories are now lost to the internet.

Second person/"you"-based stories are written in a "commanding" tone. The author specifically tells the reader that they are doing a certain action or feeling a certain way (and most stories I've seen don't rely on the reader character being fleshed out). They differ from DNs, where the OC is largely fleshed out with a distinct personality and backstory (much like a visual novel heroine). It's slightly less involved/personal compared to a second person/"you"-based story and could also just be read as a standalone characterXOC story.

What is the purpose of this series?
I just wanted to write more characterXOC stories since a lot of the characters in sports manga/anime are decently developed for the amount of screen time they get. As much as I love the BL pairings, I also like cute stories with a character and OC falling in love. I also like making stories where it's easy for a reader to insert themselves into it.

Can I submit something to this series?
AO3 doesn't let you add to a series the same way they allow you to add to a collection. I want this series to remain a collection of my own works, but if there's enough interest to archive dream novels, I can start an AO3 collection.

Will there ever be a website for these stories just like the original DN sites?
I have figured something out. You can check out my Dream Novels section on my translation blog by clicking HERE.

Can I make a request for one?
Sure, but I usually write on a whim and post when I can. Can't guarantee you'll see the eventual story in a timely manner.
