A light breeze swayed the nearby tree branches as the blankets covered two bodies shivering in the chilly desert night.
Nadie’s arms were protectively wrapped around Ellis’s body, as if separating her from the dangers outside. Within the cocoon of warmth provided by body heat and warm breaths, both girls stared at the stars shining and twinkling in the sky.
Ellis whispered, “Look, Nadie, the sky is clear enough to see Lyra.”
Nadie looked up at the sparkling stars following Ellis’s gaze to that section of the sky. “Beautiful.” “
Just think of what is out there for us, Nadie, so much that we don’t know, and for everyone up there.”
Nadie just held her tighter.
She held onto Ellis and she always would in this journey, as they would journey until the end of the world.
