Pain of Love Lasts a Lifetime

Work Text:

Andy could tell something was wrong with Miranda. It had been clear from the moment that the older woman stepped into Emily's home that something was wrong.

They had spoken to each other upon Miranda's arrival. It was a simple, 'hi, how are you, and thank you for coming.' Even then though, Andy could tell something was bothering her former boss/ex-girlfriend.

After their short conversation ended, Miranda had gone straight to the alcohol, pouring herself a glass of whiskey.

Andy wanted to talk to her, but there was no time with the other guests arriving.

When they had dinner, she felt Miranda's eyes on her. Whenever Andy would look up at her, Miranda would look away, pick up her whiskey glass and take another sip.

Miranda would eventually excuse herself to go to the restroom. Andy watched her as she went into the house, her eyes never leaving her.

Andy knew she should be focused on this dinner. She knew she should be focused on Emily, the woman she loved and was marrying tomorrow, but all she could think about was Miranda.

She needed to figure out what was going on with her.

Looking over at Emily, she whispers, "I'm going to the restroom."

Emily smiles and nods her head.

Andy stands and walks into the house. She makes her way upstairs and walks to the bathroom door.

Just as she was about to knock, the door opens, and Andy gasps at seeing Miranda.

She had been crying.

"Andrea," she says, her voice quiet.

"Are you okay?" Andrea asks, her voice also quiet.

Miranda opens her mouth, and Andy thinks that she is trying to say yes, but the older woman ends up shaking her head. "No."

"What's going on?"

Miranda sniffs. "Can we talk in private?"

Andy nods. "We can talk in the-"

Before she could finish her sentence, Miranda grabs her hand and pulls her into the bathroom.

Miranda shuts the door with her other hand, not letting go of Andy's hand.

"Miranda," Andy says after ten seconds of silence, her eyes looking down at Miranda's hand on her own.

Miranda blinks and lets go of her hand. She walks over to the sink, where Andy notices the glass full of whisky.

"How much have you drunk tonight?" She asks, concerned.

"Not enough," Miranda answers, picking up the glass and taking a sip. She sits it back down and says, "Stephen and I split up again."

"Oh. I'm so sorry, Miranda. I know this must be hard for you." Andy looks at her in sympathy, but it quickly turns to confusion when Miranda smiles.

Shaking her head, Miranda says, "Don't be. I wasn't happy with him."

"You weren't? I thought-"

"We were fighting a lot. He knew the real reason I went back to him."

"Real reason?"

"Do you know what he asked me right before we split up?"

Andy shakes her head.

"He asked me about my perfect world. He asked me, 'In your perfect world, who are you married to? Me or Andrea Sachs?'"

Andy's eyes go wide, and she feels her heart drop.

"I didn't answer the question, but we both knew the answer. And the answer is you. It's always been you."

Andy opens her mouth to say something, anything, but no words come out.

"I still love you. I never stopped loving you," Miranda continues, tears forming in her eyes.

"Miranda," Andy starts.

"Do you still love me?"

The hope in Miranda's voice hurts Andy. "Miranda, I'm getting married."

"That doesn't answer my question."

"Miranda, I'm getting married to Emily tomorrow."

Miranda doesn't respond. She picks up her glass and drinks it all.

"Miranda," Andy once again starts, her concern rising for the older woman.

"Why what?"

"Why did you leave me?" Miranda asks, tears starting to fall.

Andy lets out a breath. Despite everything, seeing Miranda so upset hurt her. "You were controlling, quick to get angry, and you were close to being abusive. I loved you...and perhaps a part of me still does, but our relationship was unhealthy."

"I can change," Miranda says. "I can change if you give me another chance."

"Miranda, I'm getting married tomorrow."

"But you just said a part of you still loves me."

"A part of me does, but I love Emily, and I want to marry her."

"But I love you!" Miranda shouts, tears falling. "I love you, and I don't know what to do without you."

Andy watches as Miranda turns away. She could tell from her body language that the older woman was silently crying.

She honestly didn't know what to say or do. She felt bad for Miranda, and while a part of her still did love her, she was getting married tomorrow. Was there nothing she could or say that could comfort Miranda?

"Just go," Miranda cries. "Just go back to Emily."

"I'm not leaving you."

"You already have."

"I always thought that we would get back together. I always thought we were destined to reunite," Miranda says, turning back to look at Andy.

Andy feels her heartbreak at seeing Miranda's tear-stained face.

Miranda hiccups and burps. "The day you told me you and Emily were getting married...I felt my heartbreak. I couldn't stop crying after you left. I...I tried to convince myself that you two would end up calling off the wedding...but...but-"

She doesn't finish as more tears fall. She hiccups again, and she tries her best to not sob.

"Please, Andrea."

"Please what?"

"If we can't be together, then we can at least share this last night together?"

"Doesn't have to know. Nobody has to know. Please, Andrea. Please," Miranda begs, hope in her eyes.

Andy doesn't respond at first. She once again doesn't know what to say or do. She did want to help Miranda, but she was getting married tomorrow. She would be betraying Emily. If Emily ever found out...

But as she looks at Miranda's tear-stained face, she feels her heartache.

If it would help Miranda...

"Okay," she says. "We can be together only for this moment."

Miranda eagerly nods her head, a smile developing on her face.

She walks over to Andy, kissing her lips.

Andy couldn't help but close her eyes at Miranda's kiss. Miranda's lips were soft and inviting.

She knew what would make Miranda feel even better. She pressed her tongue into Miranda's mouth, causing Miranda to moan. Their tongues meet and begin a slow dance in Miranda's mouth.

Miranda is moaning louder as she lets Andy's tongue explore her mouth.

Andy wants to make this even better for Miranda. She breaks the kiss, causing Miranda to whine a little. However, Andy starts to aggressively kiss Miranda's neck, making Miranda moan louder.

Andy teases Miranda's neck with her tongue, causing Miranda to squirm in delight.

Andy starts sucking on Miranda's neck, causing Miranda to moan louder.

"Andrea," Miranda moans in pleasure.

"Are you ready?" Andy asks, her voice low and seductive.

Miranda kisses her lips before nodding her head. "Yes."

Andy wraps her arms around Miranda, picking her up and putting her on the sink. Andy crouches down, going underneath Miranda's black dress. She sees Miranda's panties are already soaked.

She reaches her hands to them, pulling Miranda's panties down, exposing her vagina. Miranda leans back, and Andy puts her tongue to Miranda's vagina. Miranda lets out a moan of pleasure.

"I want you inside me," Miranda moans, holding on to the sink.

Andy smiles and pushes her tongue into Miranda's vagina. She rolls her tongue and flutters her tongue quickly. She knows just the right speed to pleasure Miranda and make her orgasm. She uses her hands to help grind and stimulate Miranda's vagina.

Miranda's legs start to tremble as she gets closer and closer to her orgasm.

Andy's tongue continues to grind into Miranda's vagina. She lets out a moan as her face turns red, seeing Miranda on the verge of letting it all out.

"Andrea!" Miranda cries out, her orgasm hitting her. Her eyes roll back into her head and she squeezes her thighs around Andy.

Andy smiles at Miranda's pulsating orgasm hitting her tongue. She slowly pulls her tongue out of Miranda's vagina, swallowing Miranda's juices.

"That was wonderful, Andrea," Miranda pants as Andy pulls out from her dress.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it," Andy smiles.

They smile at each other for a moment before finding themselves leaning into each other, kissing.

It was a soft, sweet, warm kiss.

As they pull back, Andy can see the look of love in Miranda's eyes. She watches as Miranda gets down from the sink and places a hand on Andy's hair. They find themselves leaning in again.

A knock on the door causes both Andy and Miranda to freeze. The voice of Emily only made them more nervous.

"Are you okay? You have been in there for a while. Everybody is waiting to open gifts."

"I'm fine," Andy calls back. "I'll be out in a minute."

They wait in silence as they listen to Emily's footsteps get further and further away.

Andy turns to look at Miranda, surprised to once again see tears in her eyes.

"Please don't leave me. Please."

Andy closes her eyes, trying to stop her own tears from forming. "I'm sorry."

She turns away, but she feels Miranda grab her hand and pull her back.

"I don't want to be alone, Andrea. I love you more than anything, and I need you," Miranda cries as tears start to fall.

Andy shakes her head, pulling her hand back. "I'm sorry, Miranda."

She can't stop her tears from falling as she walks to the bathroom door.

"Why don't you love me?"

She turns back to look at Miranda, who is now on the floor, sobbing.

"I do love you."

Andy exits the bathroom, not able to say anything more to Miranda.

Miranda doesn't return outside, which doesn't surprise Andy.

She checks the bathroom once the dinner is over, only seeing the whiskey glass.

Her heart aches.

While in bed that night, Andy receives a text from Miranda.

'In your perfect world, who are you married to? Emily or me?'

Andy types out a one-word response.

She never hits send.
