Taehyung hated how bright the sun was. He pushed down his sunglasses as he glared at the pretty green grounds of the college campus he was currently standing in the middle of. Everywhere he looked young people were walking around and he winced at the sound of laughter reaching his ears. For the umpteenth time he wondered why he was being forced to be here.
His dad kept getting on him that the only way to properly torture humans was to know how they thought. He was a big believer in psychological torture over physical. Taehyung just figured he was bored from being Demon King for the last 10,000 years. His father kept claiming that he was going to retire soon and that Taehyung needed to be ready to take over—he had been saying that for the last 500 years but he still maintained that Taehyung needed to be ready.
Which is how he ended up on this campus. Apparently college campuses were amazing places to learn about torturing humans as they had been perfecting it for ages.
He felt eyes being turned to him as he stood there. He had looked in disdain at the hoodie and jeans that the underlings had presented to him to wear before he had left. Just because he was being forced to pretend to be a human college student, didn’t mean he had to dress like one. Instead he chose tailored black slacks and a fitted black button down shirt. A black stone glinted in one ear. One of his advisors had tried to talk him out of his favorite black feathered jacket—made special for him of harpy feathers— but Taehyung had ignored that request.
He knew he was drawing attention not just for his attire but for his striking looks. With a smirk he pushed back his artfully tousled black hair designed to make you think of nights between the sheets. Out of the corner of his eye he saw girls and a couple of guys sneaking looks at him and honestly it was too easy. Humans were too easy to corrupt and tempt, it was child’s play really. What he needed was a challenge.
None of the people milling around him piqued his interest so he decided he might as well follow the itinerary laid out for him. With a roll of his eyes he saw that his first class was Intro to Anthropology.
He made his way to the classroom, gleefully noticing the humans instinctively gave him a wide berth forming a path for him through the crowd. When he reached the classroom he ignored how all eyes turned towards him and made his way to the back flopping down into one of the hard uncomfortable desks.
Taking off his sunglasses he scanned the classroom before his gaze fell to his seatmate. He felt his eyes widen slightly. There was no way this creature was human, he looked handcrafted by the gods and he would know. He reminded him of depictions of angels he had seen in murals. His small round face with plush lips was highlighted by a sharp jawline. Soft brown eyes peeked out from a fringe of black hair.
The angel moved his book on his desk, knocking his pen onto the floor, and it rolled next to Taehyung’s foot. Taehyung reached down before the other man could. He put on a flirtatious smile as he handed the pen back to him, “You seemed to have dropped this, Angel.”
The raven haired beauty ignored the sobriquet and politely said with a little tilt of his head, “Thank you.”
Taehyung amused himself by not letting go of the pen right away and was rewarded with an annoyed pout. He let go and smiled when he was just ignored as if nothing had happened.
He sat through the class bored and kept staring openingly at the man who was doing his best to pretend Taehyung didn’t exist. The only sign that he noticed Taehyung’s attention was a red blush creeping up his neck.
Taehyung was entertained and decided this could be a fun distraction while he was stuck in the mortal realm.
After class was over the other boy hurriedly stuffed his things into his backpack before quickly making his way out of the room. Taehyung followed behind. The boy hurried his steps and went around a corner.
As soon as Taehyung went around the corner, he was pushed against the wall.
“Why are you following me?” the boy demanded. He supposed the human was trying to look frightening but Taehyung wanted to coo at him instead. His lips were pouting at him in anger and his thick brows were narrowed into a V shape. He looked like an angry duck.
“Stop staring at me and answer me,” the human said. Taehyung instead of answering leaned more into him. Their bodies were now flush together. Taehyung had been so distracted by the angel’s face that he hadn’t noticed he also had a very nice body to go with it. Broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs met his.
The human backed away as if he had been burned, “Stop that! Just tell me what you want!”
“Well, first we can start with what’s your name, Angel,” Taehyung drawled out, stepping towards the other man causing him to step back.
They continued their dance backwards until they were in switched positions on the opposite wall. Taehyung put one hand on the wall beside them and leaned in and whispered, “And then maybe later a date.”
“Aghhh,” the man slapped his chest, pushing him back a fraction. “What is wrong with you!”
“The only thing that’s wrong with me, is I still don’t know your name,” Taehyung stroked one finger down a soft cheek, creeping closer to those tempting plush lips.
He was stopped by his hand being yanked away and his object of interest escaping away from him.
“Knock it off or I’m turning you in for harassment!!”
Taehyung decided to stop playing around and decided it was time to turn on the charm. The little bit of incubus blood Taehyung possessed made his voice irresistible to humans and he had been using it for centuries to make humans bend to his will.
“Angel, there’s no need for hostility. Now how about you tell me your name?” As he spoke his deep voice turned velvety and he saw the humans around him start to fall under his spell. Their eyes glazed over and infatuated smiles turned towards him.
He looked at them in smug satisfaction. Humans were so weak. It was child’s play, really. He turned to his Angel in anticipation.
Taehyung jumped back in astonishment as a book made contact with his chest. He barely felt it but the shock of it had him reeling.
“I told you to stop!”
Instead of the slavish devotion he was expecting to see, brown eyes burned with fiery indignation. The man raised the book again, grasped tightly in his small fists, preparing to defend or attack depending on what Taehyung did.
A thrill went through Taehyung at this unexpected development. His Angel was even more intriguing than he first thought. This trip was suddenly looking up. Taehyung considered his options; he had never dealt with humans who weren’t easily swayed by him.
He backed off contritely and raised his hands in surrender, “I apologize for my behavior. I was overwhelmed by your beauty and I’m sorry I came on so strong.”
The man eyed him suspiciously and still had the book clasped in front of him like a shield. “That’s not a good enough apology. You assaulted me!”
Taehyung added, as the man continued to look at him through slitted eyes. “Well, technically you assaulted me first.”
“What!” the man’s eyebrows shot up as he exclaimed.
Taehyung shrugged his shoulders, “I mean you’re the one who pushed me against a wall first.”
“Only because you were following me!”
“Who said I was following you?” Taehyung asked, doing his best to look as innocently as possible.
“You wouldn’t stop looking at me in class and then you conveniently were right behind me as I walked! I call that following!”
“Well if you must know. My next class is this way,” Taehyung lied. “And, as for staring at you. You’re a beautiful man, you must be used to people staring at you.”
The man looked doubtingly at him before huffing out, “I don’t believe you. Plus you still assaulted me. ”
Taehyung noticed that everyone around them was starting to come out of their trance and were taking interest in the drama unfolding in front of them.
The other man seemed to notice also and put down the book he still had out in front of him. He looked around in embarrassment at the attention they were drawing and without a glance at Taehyung he stalked off.
“Hey, wait,” Taehyung shouted after him, quickly following him. They made it into an empty corridor, before the man suddenly stopped.
He whipped around and glared at Taehyung, “I already told you to stop following me!”
Taehyung was a little stunned, the man looked a little like his pet Hellhound when you tried to take his food away. Maybe his Angel had a little demon in him after all. He composed himself. He may not be able to seduce this human the usual way but he could be very charming on his own.
Putting on his most innocent expression, he made his eyes wide, “I just wanted to apologize. I don’t want to start off on the wrong foot. I’m Taehyung by the way. I just transferred here and I don’t know anyone here. How about we start over?”
“Okay, Taehyung,” the man drew out his name in contempt. “Next time I suggest you don’t start off by stalking and assaulting the people you meet. Now if you will please excuse me I’m late to my next class.”
The man started to rush off but Taehyung wasn’t quite ready for this to end yet. “Wait! I still don’t even know your name.”
“And you don’t need to!” the man yelled over his shoulder before he was suddenly stopped by a voice calling out.
Taehyung watched in interest as the man, Seokjin, stopped and his shoulders sagged in frustration.
“Ah, so your name is Seokjin,” Taehyung said. “It’s nice to meet you, Seokjin.”
“That’s not my name!”
A man loped over, “Seokjin, it is you. I thought I was the only one who was running late to class.”
“Yeah, I got caught up in something. Let’s go,” Seokjin walked away grabbing the man when he looked curiously at Taehyung.
“Sorry, was I interrupting something?” he asked.
The man looked amused at the contrasting answers, “Okay, then.”
“Hoseok, let’s just get to class,” Seokjin said.
“Okay,” Hoseok answered.
They started to walk away but Taehyung couldn’t help himself from yelling after them, “I’ll see you in class, Seokjin.”
He saw Seokjin’s shoulders tense but he didn’t stop or say anything but he could see his classmate was curious. They walked away with Hoseok peppering Seokjin with questions.
Taehyung walked away, ignoring the rest of the schedule for his day, he had a new mission.
The next couple of weeks, Seokjin wouldn’t talk or look at Taehyung and ever since the first day he made sure he was sat as far away from Taehyung as he possibly could. After class, Seokjin managed to disappear before Taehyung could even track him down. Taehyung was starting to think he was a magical being in reality because how else could he so easily evade him.
Seokjin was an enigma he was learning. Everyone had something nice to say about him but nobody actually seemed to know him. Even when he used his powers to listen into people’s true thoughts he found no hidden thoughts other than how nice and kind Seokjin was. Or even more superficially about how attractive he was. Apparently the whole campus was harboring a crush on him. But for all of that, no one seemed to know anything about him. Where he lived? What his likes were? What he did outside of class? It was a mystery and in all of Taehyung’s centuries he had never found another being so fascinating or elusive.
Finally, one day in class Taehyung was granted a break. He was doing his usual, not listening to the Professor but instead watching Seokjin out of the corner of his eye.
“Seokjin, you'll be paired with Taehyung,” the Professor said. Taehyung jolted at the sound of their names and watched Seokjin’s jaw tense.
The Professor continued to pair people up and Taehyung was ecstatic, he finally had a reason to speak to Seokjin again.
“Okay, everyone, go sit with your partners and decide on a topic you want to cover. I want to remind you all that this project will also require you to work together outside of class hours.”
This was the best news Taehyung had ever heard. He walked over to Seokjin with a smile on his face.
Seokjin begrudgingly gestured to the desk next to him. Taehyung flopped down, the bracelets looped around his wrist jingling.
“Do you have any ideas for what you want our project to be?” Seokjin asked with no inflection in his voice.
“Umm… What would you like to do?” Taehyung asked. He hadn’t heard a word the teacher said and wasn’t even sure what this project was for.
“Well I was thinking there’s this cafe near downtown. It has a good mix of people and would be a good spot for our project.”
“That sounds like a good idea,” Taehyung still had no idea what they we’re talking about. “So did you want to meet up there to discuss our project?”
“Well, yes we would have to go there to do our project,” Seokjin looked at him in suspicion. “You don’t know what the assignment is, do you?” he accused.
Taehyung wasn’t used to people questioning him, especially humans. He sputtered out, “Of course I do.”
“Well what is it then?” Seokjin tapped his pen on his desk and looked at Taehyung with narrowed eyes.
Taehyung’s eyes darted around the room in hopes of getting a clue when he saw written on the board in big letters: Assignment: Observing human behavior while in a public setting.
“We’re observing human behavior while in a public setting,” Taehyung voiced verbatim.
Seokjin looked at the board where Taehyung’s eyes had been trained. He rolled his eyes but didn’t push the issue, “Fine. Anyways I was thinking we should do it at this cafe because it has a good mix of people that come in and plus their drinks and food are good. Might as well get something out of this assignment.”
“So we’re going to a cafe to have drinks and food,” Taehyung liked this idea.
“Yeah, like I said we might as well be comfortable while doing this assignment.”
Taehyung nodded, “So, like a date then.”
“What! No!” Seokjin interjected, drawing the class's attention to them.
Seokjin lowered his voice and whispered harshly once everyone looked away, “Not a date. We are just partners on this assignment and I expect you to do your part.”
“Of course. I’ll be on my best behavior, Angel,” Taehyung said, trying to look as innocent as a demon could.
“And no more calling me Angel!”
The Professor’s voice interrupted them, “Okay, everyone. There’s five minutes of class left. I suggest you come up with a time outside of class to meet up and work on the project.”
Seokjin briskly said, “I don’t know what your schedule is like. But weekends would work best for me. How would meeting at 11 in the morning on Saturday at the cafe work for you?”
“That works for me,” Taehyung answered. “So where is this place?”
Seokjin wrote down the address for him as the class ended and everyone filed out. Taehyung took the address as if he had been handed the greatest treasure in all the realms.
“I’ll see you there, Ang—Seokjin,” Taehyung quickly corrected as Seokjin glared at him again.
“Fine and don’t be late,” Seokjin grabbed his bag and left.
Taehyung showed up at the cafe early, he picked a spot in the corner and sat back to look around. It was a very cute cafe with little cartoon characters decorating the walls. He realized he stood out among the bright colors with his black leather clad legs and his black sweater. Taehyung chose a booth where he could watch the entrance.
He didn’t have to wait long before Seokin walked in. He looked adorably young in a monochrome sweatsuit in purple. Usually such a sickeningly cute outfit would turn him off but as he was finding with everything that had to do with Seokjin it made him even more attracted to him. It made him look innocent and there was nothing Taehyung liked to do more than corrupt the innocent.
The minute Seokjin spotted Taehyung a look passed over his face that was equal parts exasperation and annoyance. Taehyung was starting to think of it as his Taehyung look.
He waved at Seokjin and Seokjin shuffled over to him. He glanced at Taehyung, “Are you allergic to color or something?”
“I think I look good,” Taehyung leaned further back, subtly spreading his legs further out.
“If you’re trying to dress like the Prince of Darkness,” Seokjin sat down across from Taehyung and started to pull a notebook out of his bag, missing Taehyung’s amused look at how close Seokjin was to the truth.
Seokjin started to lay out all of his ideas and Taehyung readily agreed to them. He ignored the suspicious glances Seokjin kept throwing at him. It was unfair that he kept suspecting him of bad intentions. I mean, yes he was trying to seduce Seokjin but it didn’t mean he wasn’t taking this assignment seriously. Especially since he didn’t think Seokjin would appreciate it if Taehyung was the reason they failed the assignment.
While they were discussing, they were interrupted by their server asking what drinks they wanted. Taehyung instantly disliked the way the man kept flirting with Seokjin. He was even more annoyed that Seokjin kept flirting back. He even laughed at the man’s dumb pun about them having ‘a latte flavors’.
The lights flickered in the cafe. People at nearby tables stopped chatting to look up at the lights. Taehyung looked at the lights with embarrassment at the lapse of control. It was ridiculous how territorial he already was over this human that he barely knew. But there was something about him that was so different from any human he had ever met.
He looked across the table and was surprised to see Seokjin looking at him with an unreadable look before his features changed back into their usual annoyance at Taehyung’s presence. Taehyung could have sworn he had seen something familiar in his eyes for a split second but he couldn’t put his finger on it.
“Are you going to order?” a peevish voice interrupted his thoughts.
He looked up to see the flirty waiter looking at him with a bored expression. He quickly ordered something without a thought.
They fell into an awkward silence, “So are we just going to sit here in silence?” Taehyung asked.
“We don’t need to talk. We just need to observe people for an hour,” Seokin answered without looking up from his notebook.
“I think time would pass better if we chatted while we worked,” Taehyung offered.
Seokjin sighed but glanced up at Taehyung, “Fine. Since being quiet seems to be impossible for you. What do you want to talk about?”
“Let’s start with the basics. Where are you from?” Taehyung asked.
Seokjin shifted in his seat, “I’ve lived here for the last couple of years but I was originally from up North.”
“That’s funny because I’m from the South,” Taehyung laughed at his own joke. “I just recently moved here.”
“What brought you here, Taehyung? I think you said you just transferred here?” Seokjin asked.
Taehyung was delighted that Seokjin had remembered. “My father decided I could get a better education here so he sent me to go to school here. I wasn’t thrilled with the idea but I’ve been enjoying it more than I thought.”
“I understand. I moved here after I had a falling out with my family. I also have enjoyed being here more than I thought but sometimes I do miss home.” Seokjin said wistfully.
They both seemed to relax after that and they found they had a lot in common. Taehyung’s guilty pleasure was watching human tv shows and anime and Seokjin seemed to enjoy a lot of the same shows as he did. Seokjin also was really into playing video games. Taehyung wasn’t as familiar with them but promised to check out the ones he recommended, making a mental note to tell his minions to go get them for him.
The hour passed way too fast and Taehyung wasn’t ready to leave him yet. This was new to him, he had never spent time getting to know someone before. Usually he never had to work to get someone into his bed. He was finding that he was enjoying just hanging out with Seokjin. It made no sense to him, humans usually bored him but not Seojin. He was finding that even the most mundane topics were made interesting by the animated man across from him. He had a habit of talking fast when he was excited and gesturing with his hands that made Taehyung smile without thinking.
His smile dimmed when the same waiter brought over the check as they were getting ready to leave. The man placed the check in front of Seokjin but Taehyung grabbed it before Seokjin could. The waiter looked annoyed but left without a word. Taehyung rolled his eyes at the writing on it.
Thanks a Latte!
Call me sometime
He stared at the note in annoyance. How dare he! Couldn’t he see that Seokjin was here with someone else! How was he to know it wasn’t a date? The lights flickered again at Taehyung’s annoyance and this time a lightbulb burst causing a girl to scream.
Taehyung dropped his hand when the check burst into flames. He looked up quickly hoping Seokjin hadn’t noticed. Luckily, Seokjin had turned when the lightbulb burst. Taehyung took the opportunity to quickly sweep the ashes off the table
Seokjin turned away from where the manager had come out and was apologizing to the customers, “That was weird? I wonder what caused that?” He looked down at the table, “What happened to the check?”
“I got it. Don’t worry about it,” Taehyung hurriedly said.
“I can’t let you do that. How much was my portion?” Seokjin insisted, already reaching for his wallet.
Taehyung shook his head. “No, it’s my treat. Think of it as an apology for my behavior when we first met.”
Seokjin gave a genuine smile at that, “You know what, you’re right. It’s the least you could do.”
Taehyung was feeling strangely giddy at the sight of the beaming pretty man across from him. “I really am sorry. I’ve never met someone as beautiful as you. I shouldn’t have come on so strong.”
A blush spread across Seokjin’s cheeks, “It’s okay. You we’re really obnoxious at first but I really enjoyed today. It’s been fun. How about we start all over?”
“Does that mean you would be willing to go out with me?” Taehyung asked with a wink.
Seokjin rolled his eyes, “I suppose you can’t help yourself. No, I was thinking about trying to be friends.”
Taehyung could swear he heard an implied ‘first’ at the end of that sentence, “Okay, friends.” He reached out his hand and Seokjin shook it.
They left the cafe but Taehyung paused in the doorway. He glanced back at their table and money appeared on it. No point in not paying the check even if the waiter had been annoying, it would just make Seokjin mad. But it didn’t stop him from moving the table a little bit so that the waiter bumped into it causing him to spill a drink all over his shirt. Taehyung smirked when the man sweared loudly. He then walked out happily catching up with Seokjin to walk with him to the bus stop.
They continued to meet up every Saturday over the next month. Taehyung had been steadily ignoring the summons that his underlings kept sending him to come back to the Underworld. He had been spending most of his time researching things that Seokjin would mention in passing. It always delighted him how excited Seokjin got whenever he brought up a topic he had mentioned.
He was also experimenting with his wardrobe. After Seokjin kept throwing barbed comments about Taehyung being a Prince of Hell—Taehyung could barely stop himself from laughing each time—he had been trying different colors and less constricting clothing. Today he was in loose fitting tan trousers, a button down white top with a green and brown vest over top of it, and to top it off he was wearing a beret and glasses without lenses.
Seokjin gave him a long look when he sat down, “Why the complete 180?”
“The what?” Taehyung asked, confused.
“For most of the time I’ve known you, you’ve been dressed like you’re about to clubbing in Hell and now you're dressed like a grandpa,” Seokjin gestured at his outfit.
Taehyung looked down and saw nothing wrong with the way he was dressed, “A hot grandpa, right?”
Seokjin shook his head but he answered with a smile, “Fine, a hot grandpa.”
Did Seokjin just flirt with him? He decided to push his luck, “So, we’re almost done with this assignment right?”
Seokjin nodded in affirmative.
“I was thinking,” Taehyung stopped nervously before he shook himself in annoyance. He was a Prince of Hell and he didn’t get nervous talking to mortals. “I was thinking, I’ve really enjoyed spending time with you and I don’t want to stop hanging out after this.”
Seokjin smiled beautifically at him, “I would like that. I’ve enjoyed spending time with you too.”
Taehyung’s heart skipped a beat and decided to take the plunge, “How about going on a date with me then?”
Seokjin looked conflicted and Taehyung was already mentally prepared to plead his case but instead Seokjin said quietly, “Okay.”
The lights flickered as Taehyung realized what he said, “Wait! Really!”
Seokjin looked at the lights, “I think this place has problems with their wiring. That’s not the first time that’s happened.”
“Forget the lights! Did you really agree to go out with me?” Taehyung exclaimed, making the lights flicker even more.
Seokjin looked amused at Taehyung’s excitement, “Well, you do make a hot grandpa.”
“Kinky,” Taehyung said and laughed when Seokjin blushed. “I didn’t know you had it in you, Angel.”
Seokjin glared at him, “I told you to stop calling me that. I think I’m starting to change my mind.”
“No! I’ll stop,” Taehyung hurriedly said. “So, how about tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow. So eager aren’t you,” Seokjin laughed.
Taehyung leaned in conspiratorially and whispered, “I don’t know if you hadn’t noticed but I really like you.”
Seokjin batted him away in embarrassment, “Fine, tomorrow. What’s the plan? I’m expecting to be swept off my feet.”
“Come over to my place, I’ll cook dinner for us,” Taehyung said, a plan forming in his mind.
“You cook?” Seokjin asked, doubt written across his face.
“Of course I can,” Taehyung answered. He couldn’t cook but Seokjin didn’t need to know that. What he did have was access to some of the best chefs in history—a surprising amount of them seemed to end up in Hell.
They finished the last day of their assignment but Taehyung was too distracted to pay attention to anyone else but Seokjin. A dopey smile wouldn’t stay off his face and if anyone from Hell had seen him they wouldn’t have recognized him.
Finally they parted, with Taehyung giving his address to Seokjin. Taehyung was practically dancing as he walked away but his mood turned sour when he heard a telltale ‘pop’ nearby.
He looked around and wasn’t surprised when he saw something move in an alley near him. He walked over and a dark indistinguishable form separated from the shadows.
“Your Highness, his Majesty, is requesting you return to the Underworld,” the underling stated.
“Well, you can tell him I’m busy and it was his idea in the first place to send me up here. I’ll come back when I’m ready.” Taehyung started to walk away but was stopped by a gentle push of power.
He turned incensed, “You dare use power on me. I should turn you to ash for the insolence.”
The underling groveled, “I apologize, Sir. But I was told to bring you back by any power necessary.”
Taehyung supposed he couldn’t blame the poor being, they had to follow orders given by the rulers of Hell. “I know you're bound by duty but I’m not ready to come back so you’re going to have to leave instead.” He snapped his fingers and the underling disappeared.
He made his way home in annoyance but was determined to make tomorrow the best date of Seokjin’s life.
Taehyung looked around the penthouse apartment that he was using while he was in the mortal realm. It looked magical, he had wanted it to look like you were outside so he had made the ceiling look like the night sky. Thousands of lights twinkled, mimicking the stars outside. The ceiling stretched to the floor length windows that gave a breathtaking view of the city below.
He had situated a table by the windows so they could dine while looking at the lights of the city. The rest of the apartment was plush luxury decorated in dark forest greens to mimic the feel of a forest.
The smell of the meal that he had their family chef prepare for him was wafting from the huge chef’s kitchen.
Everything was perfect. He glanced into a nearby mirror and was pleased by what he saw. His hair was styled into curly waves and he had gone simple with his outfit in just a fitted black tee tucked into tight black jeans. He looked sexy but an effortless sort of sexy—where it looked like he just rolled out of bed and had pulled on what clothes were nearby. His feet were bare—his preferred state at home.
Now all he needed was his Angel. Taehyung had told the doorman to send him up as soon as he got here. And he had been notified he was on his way up a few minutes ago. A timid knock made him smile.
He opened the door and was blown away again how Seokjin was one of the most beautiful beings he had ever seen in any realm. He watched as Seokjin looked around with wide eyes and drank in his body clad in white jeans and a fitted white t-shirt. A white jean jacket topped off the outfit. His black hair framed his face as he looked around.
“Are you rich or something?” Seokjin asked, still staring at the space.
Taehyung smiled as he pulled him inside and helped him take his jacket off, “My family is. Feel free to look around.”
He watched as Seokjin looked around, looking curiously at everything. “We match, Angel.”
Seokjin responded without looking at him, “I told you to stop calling me that.” But there was no heat behind his words. “What do you mean we match?”
“Maybe match isn’t the right word but we look like a set. You all in white, me all in black.”
Seokjin stopped his perusal and looked intently at him, “Like Yin and Yang or Light and Dark.”
Seokjin’s statement seemed loaded with some hidden meaning. Taehyung couldn’t puzzle it out and he just laughed, “Exactly. Do you see me as the darkness?”
“I see you as darkness personified but the darkness can mean many things,” Seokjin answered.
Taehyung mulled it over, “Are you going to explain that cryptic comment to me?”
“Maybe someday I will but right now where is the meal you promised me,” Seokjin’s eyes gleamed in the lights sparkling from above.
“I’ll go get it. Go take a seat,” Taehyung gestured over to the table while he walked to the kitchen to plate their meal.
He brought it out and theatrically placed it in front of Seokjin with a bow. Seokjin laughed and looked at his plate with interest.
“Lobster! It’s one of my favorites,” Seokjin exclaimed.
They ate and fell into the same comfortable chatter that they had developed from all of their days spent at the cafe. They finished their dinner with Taehyung doing a dramatic re-enactment of a scene from a show both of them we’re watching.
Seokjin giggled at his antics and Taehyung couldn’t remember the last time he felt this happy and complete. The usual restlessness that consumed him was gone and for the first time in a long time he wasn’t looking at the world with bored disdain.
He thought he could stay here forever with him but he knew in the back of his mind this couldn’t last. His father was already getting impatient and soon would drag Taehyung back to the Underworld. The thought made him scowl.
Seokjin stopped the portrayal he was doing and playfully slapped him, “Hey my impression wasn’t that bad.”
Taehyung snapped out of it and looked at Seokjin. Seokjin was smiling at him and he resolved to stop thinking about things he couldn’t change. Instead he was going to savor this time with Seokjin.
He got up and grabbed Seokjin’s hand, “Come on. I have a surprise with you.”
Seokjin followed him and Taehyung was surprised when their hands remained linked as he led him to the elevator.
“Where are we going? This isn’t the elevator that brought me up to your apartment?” Seokjin asked.
“It’s a surprise,” Taehyung tugged him into the elevator as the doors opened.
The elevator started to rise and before it came to a stop, he said, “Close your eyes.”
Seokjin looked at him suspiciously.
“Just trust me.”
Seokjin obeyed and the elevator stopped and the doors slid open. Taehyung led Seokjin out into the middle of the rooftop.
“Okay, open them.”
Seokjin looked around in wonder at the lush garden surrounding them, “It’s beautiful.”
Lights were strung along the edges providing a soft glow to the garden. Music started to play from speakers hidden in the foliage.
Taehyung held out his hand to Seokjin and Seokjin accepted it. Taehyung pulled him close before quickly spinning him out and back in and then dipping him. Seokjin let out a breathless laugh.
If he could he would bottle up his laugh so he could listen to it all the time. Taehyung pulled him back up to him so that they could sway together.
They seemed to be trapped a moment in time as they danced under the moonlight.
Seokjin let out a soft gasp, “Taehyung.”
“Hmm,” Taehyung hummed out with his eyes closed.
“Look,” Seokjin whispered.
Taehyung opened his eyes and took in the blooms opening around them. Bursts of pink, yellow and white announcing their arrival by emitting a sweet scent into the night.
He put his mouth next to Seokjin’s ear, “It’s a moon garden. They’re night blooming flowers.”
Seokjin looked at him in wonderment before he leaned forward. Taehyung met him in the middle and kissed him softly. He saw the lights flicker as his heart raced.
They kept it light and sweet, just exploring each other. Taehyung’s hands roamed Seokjin’s back as Seokjin’s hands made their way to his hair.
Taehyung was surprised when it was Seokjin who deepened the kiss. He responded by molding his body to Seokjin’s. Seokjin yanked on his hair causing Taehyung to wince but he enjoyed the small amount of pain. It seemed his Angel wasn’t as innocent as he seemed.
They kissed until they broke apart panting but Taehyung couldn’t bear to be apart and kept pressing little kisses to Seokjin’s jaw in between gasps. Seokjin made little broken sounds and pulled Taehyung’s head back up so he could capture his lips again.
Taehyung felt light-headed. He had kissed so many beings in his centuries that he had forgotten most of their faces. But none of them compared to this. There was no way he would ever forget Seokjin and he knew no one else would ever satisfy him like this.
He pulled away and laughed when Seokjin chased after him, “Seokjin.”
Seokjin moved to kiss him again but he stopped him, “I have to tell you something.”
“Taehyung, I know,” Seokjin looked at him and stroked his hand down his face.
“Know what?” Taehyung was confused. “How could you know? I just realized it myself?”
It was Seokjin’s turn to look confused, his swollen lips coming together in a pout, “Wait, what are we talking about?”
Taehyung started to answer when he was interrupted by a loud ‘pop’. He groaned in frustration and turned expecting to see another underling. He had no idea how he was going to explain this.
He turned expecting to see a small black creature instead was met by a tall imposing figure with ram horns. He was shocked when he realized it was the Demon King himself, “Father! Why are you here?”
“You refused to answer any of my summons,” the Demon King boomed out, his dark eyes flickering even though no light was shining on them. “It’s time for you to come home, Taehyung.”
“You’re the one who sent me here,” Taehyung yelled.
“To study the humans not this,” he gestured at Seokjin who was still in Taehyung’s arms.
Taehyung tightened his arms around him protectively. His father caught the motion.
He laughed, the sound scraping across Taehyung’s skin, “Really, Taehyung. Falling for a human. You have 24 hours to return home and erase his memory or I’m going to destroy him.”
He left before Taehyung could even respond. He felt like yelling to the heavens. Not that they would listen to a demon. He felt helpless and he felt Seokjin pulling away from him.
“Seokjin,” Taehyung said but he didn’t know how to continue.
“You’re a demon,” Seokjin stated. He didn’t sound frightened by what had just happened instead it was said as a matter of fact.
“Yes, I am. Well to be more precise, I’m a Prince of Hell,” Taehyung laughed bitterly. “You were right all along when you said I dressed like one. I know this seems unbelievable.”
Seokjin stopped him and grabbed his arm, “Taehyung, I knew you were a demon from the beginning.”
Taehyung’s jaw dropped in astonishment, “What? Wait, how? What?”
“You demons really are the most unperceptive lot. You even called me what I am,” Seokjin laughed while Taehyung stared at him incomprehensibly.
“What? What did I call you,” Taehyung was so confused this is not at all how he thought Seokjin would react to him being a demon.
“Angel,” Seokin stepped back as black wings spread out from his back.
“I’m an Angel. Or to be more correct a fallen Angel,” Seokjin said. “I never expected to find a demon prince slumming it on a college campus.”
“Why were you on a human campus?” Taehyung asked instead of the multitude of more pressing questions he should be asking.
“I take on a new identity every couple of years. I wanted to try being a college student for this one,” Seokjin answered, shaking out his wings.
“Wait, what does this mean?” Taehyung asked.
“It means you’re the Yin to my Yang,” Seokjin answered, looking at him. “That’s if you want to be. It sounds like we have 24 hours to decide.”
“I love you,” Taehyung blurted out. “That’s what I was going to tell you. I’ll go wherever you go.”
Seokjin leaned forward and kissed him, “I love you, too. Luckily for you one of the angelic powers I still have is being able to hide myself from demons.”
“Wait, why was I able to find you then?” Taehyung asked.
“I let my guard down. The last place I was expecting to run into demons was on campus and your kind usually get bored of mortals pretty quickly,” Seokjin smiled. “But not you. You are very persistent.”
“I’m still confused by all of this. But I did hear you say you loved me. That’s enough for me,” Taehyung grinned. “So what do we do now?”
“That depends. Will your father honor his 24hr limit he set?” Seokjin asked, looking at Taehyung mischievously.
Taehyung looked confused, “Yeah, he will. What does that have to do with anything?”
Seokjin leaned in close, his wings wrapping around both of them, “I’m thinking that means we can still enjoy tonight and disappear in the morning.” He kissed Taehyung roughly.
Taehyung’s hands stroked his hands down Seokjin’s back to where his wings came out of his back. He sucked on Seokjin’s tongue before pulling back, “I like the way you think, Angel. How about we take this downstairs? I have this gigantic bed that I think can fit even these.” He stroked Seokjin’s wings again causing the Angel to shudder.
It was like they lit a match, Taehyung lost his shirt before he even made it to the elevator. Seokjin lost his shirt in the elevator. The rest of their clothes managed to disappear before Seokjin’s back even hit the bed.
Taehyung looked at the Angel spread out on his bed, his dark wings blending into the black silk sheets. “You’re so fucking beautiful.”
Seokjin ran his foot up Taehyung’s thigh, painfully close to his erection. “Same goes for you, Prince.”
Taehyung bent down so that he could lick his way up Seokjin’s thighs, throwing in little bites that made his Angel squirm. Seokjin’s breathing picked up as he got closer to Seokjin’s length, but all Taehyung did was nuzzle it briefly before moving up to his stomach.
“You’re evil,” Seokjin huffed out, his lips in a pout.
“I am a demon,” Taehyung said before he nipped the skin right below Seokjin’s nipple.
Before Seokjin could reply, he sucked the bud into his mouth causing Seokjin to buck up. Hands tangled into his hair but Taehyung couldn’t decide if they were trying to push him away or hold him there. He looked up to see Seokjin’s eyes closed and his jaw tense in anticipation.
He did the same treatment to the other nipple before moving up to the expanse of his neck. Seokjin was baring it so beautifully for him that he couldn’t help himself from biting it. He sucked where he had bit him before pressing a kiss to his mark.
He looked down at the angel beneath him, Seokjin’s eyes were dark with desire and his lips were swollen from Taehyung’s kisses earlier. Taehyung’s eyes fixed on them.
“Did anyone ever tell you that you have lips made for sin?” Taehyung outlined the fullness of them while he talked and was surprised when Seokjin sucked on his thumb when he paused on the seam of his lips.
Seokjin sucked on his finger while he looked at him with dilated eyes, the image and the sensation combined made his groin tighten uncomfortably. He was impossibly hard at this point.
He dipped in to nip at his lips before kissing him roughly. Seokjin’s hands tangled around his neck trying to hold him there but Taehyung was getting impatient with the need to be inside of him.
Taehyung moved away but laughed when Seokjin made a disgruntled sound, “Don’t worry, Angel. You’re going to enjoy what I have planned for you.”
He snapped his fingers and a bottle appeared in his hand. Seokjin whined when he saw the bottle of lube.
Taehyung made his way back down his body, stopping to give a quick kiss to his erection before pushing Seokjin’s legs up and apart. He was impressed at how flexible he was. He experimentally pushed as far as he could and let out a sound of approval.
“You’re so flexible. We’re going to have fun with that later but right now I just need to be in you.”
He slicked up his fingers before circling his rim and was pleased by the tightness and the low moan Seokjin let out. He worked him open until he could take two then three fingers.
By this point he felt like he was about to burst and quickly slicked himself up before positioning himself at Seokjin’s entrance. He pushed in and moaned at the way Seokjin’s body gripped him. He leaned up to capture his lips again as he let him adjust.
Seokjin pulled away impatiently, hooking his legs around Taehyung, “Move, move Taehyung.” He groaned out.
“Whatever my Angel wants,” Taehyung started to thrust into his body, looking for that spot he knew would make his Angel moan.
He found it and grinned when Seokjin did just that. He started to roll his hips making sure to hit that spot each time. He could tell Seokjin was getting close and reached down to stroke him in time to his thrusts. He was rewarded with Seokjin’s body tightening around him. After a few more strokes Seokjin rewarded him by coming and spurting cum all over his hand.
He chased his own orgasm as Seokjin spasmed around him. With one last thrust he came inside his beautiful Angel.
He pulled out and looked down at Seokjin, his hair was mussed and sticking to his skin, his face was flushed and he looked well fucked. Taehyung pulled out and leaned down to kiss him again. He stroked the beautiful wings and Seokjin practically purred against his lips.
“Feel good, Angel?”
Seokjin kissed him in answer.
“Good, because I’m not done with you yet.”
Seokjin leaned back and licked his lips, “Do your worst, Prince.”
Taehyung groaned, “You’re going to be the death of me.”
“It’s a good thing we’re immortal then,” Seokjin taunted and Taehyung pounced on him, causing him to laugh.
Immortality had never looked as appealing as it did right now, with an eternity with his Angel as a promise.
They laid in bed—sated for the time being—Seokjin’s back was wingless again and pressed against Taehyung’s chest. Taehyung couldn’t stop touching him even after the many rounds they had already gone.
“You’re so perfect,” Taehyung said as he played with his fingers. “I can’t believe you’re real.”
Seokjin turned in his arms so that their foreheads were touching, “You’re the last thing I expected. I’ve been wandering this realm for years. I didn’t realize how lonely I was until I met you.”
“Love you, Angel.”
“Love you, Prince.”
Sunlight started to filter in around the edges of the curtains. Taehyung propped himself up on his elbows, “It’s starting to get light. We probably should get ready to go.”
Seokjin leaned over and kissed his shoulder, “You’re sure about this? You can still back out if you want. It’s a lot to ask to give up your entire life and realm. I should know”
Taehyung was going to ask someday how Seokjin had fallen but not today, “I’ve never been more sure about anything. Anyways, give my father a century and he’ll have forgiven me. He’s never been good at staying angry.”
“Plus this is exciting. I’ve never pretended to be mortal before. I’ve been getting bored in the Underworld anyways,” Taehyung kissed Seokjin one more time before sliding out of bed.
Taehyung started to get dressed, choosing shades of brown to dress in.
Seokjin teased him as he lounged in the bed, “No black today.”
“I’m not feeling dark today. I’m feeling quite light actually,” Taehyung remembered something Seokjin had said. “Angel, what did you mean by I’m darkness personified? You said darkness can mean many things.”
Seokjin leaned back looking like sin and Taehyung was tempted to take off the clothes he had just put on.
Seokjin finally answered, “People think light means good and dark means bad. They aren’t either. Too much light can be harmful to people, the sun’s rays can be damaging if you sit in them too long. Conversely people think of the dark as being scary. Where the monsters hide in wait. Instead I think of it as the time when people are the closest and most honest. It’s where lovers unite and become one. Where people whisper ‘I love you'’ as their partners sleep.”
“To me you’re both, you’re scary and exciting but you’re also the comfort that darkness holds.”
Taehyung was overwhelmed, he knew in his heart that centuries could pass and he would still love this man. “Well I'm the dark then you're my light. You’ve made me feel alive again. I feel like I was languishing like a wilted plant but then you came along like the sun itself. I’m excited about what our future holds.”
Seokjin got dressed in all black to Taehyung’s amusement, “You look beautiful, Angel.”
He got up and walked over to kiss Seokjin, he whispered into his lips, “Do you know why I called you Angel when I first met you?”
Seokjin laughed, “At first I thought you realized what I was but then it was pretty obvious you had no clue. Especially when you tried to seduce me with your voice. The look of surprise when I hit you with that book.” Seokjin laughed harder at the memory.
“You were so mean, Angel,” Taehyung laughed with him. “No, sadly I was completely in the dark about you being an actual angel. I called you Angel because you were the most ethereal being I had ever met. I have never met anyone as exquisitely gorgeous as you.”
Seokjin smiled and kissed him, “And I’ve never met someone as devilishly handsome as you. I’m lucky I wasn’t mortal or I would have fallen at your feet at the sound of your voice and you would have gotten bored of me in a heartbeat.”
Taehyung hugged him, “I don’t think I would have. I don’t think being an Angel made me fall in love with you. It was just you. I would love you if you were mortal, an Angel, a demon, or any other being.”
“Even if I had tentacles and eight eyes,” Seokjin teased.
“You wouldn’t be the first person I dated with tentacles,” Taehyung replied and laughed when Seokjin slapped him. He kissed his nose, “I would love every slimy bit of you.”
“I would love you, too, if you had eight eyes and tentacles,” Seokjin said as laughter danced in his eyes. Taehyung couldn’t help but kiss him again.
They finally managed to leave the apartment after many stolen kisses and exited the building, hands clasped swinging between them.
“So where are we going?” Taehyung asked, feeling lighter and happier than he had ever been, as they walked out of the apartment.
Seokjin grinned, “Let’s let the fates decide.”
He kissed him and if anyone would have been looking at that moment they would have watched the couple disappear on to their next adventure.
