Sung Jin-Woo told him he was his mate. Kim Dokja didn't think much of it until he was pressed onto the throne and Sung Jin-Woo made it his mission to fuck his brains out. There must be a reason for it, but Kim Dokja couldn't make heads or tails over it as he could hear the murmur of the shadow soldiers.
They were loyal to Sung Jin-Woo to their very souls, but Kim Dokja couldn't help but hide his face with his arms, the burn of their collective stares hot on his back. He could feel their stares. He could even hear Greed praise his king for claiming his mate. Whatever Greed said made Sung Jin-Woo’s actions rougher as he pulled the Demon King's arms away from his face and said, "They need to see. Need to see that you're mine. The whole world." That was enough of an explanation Sung Jin-Woo was willing to give as he proceeded to litter bite marks around the pale skin of Kim Dokja's neck. To a point where even a turtleneck shirt wouldn't be able to hide the possessive marks that he inflicted on him.
Kim Dokja was tempted to ask why Sung Jin-Woo was trying to show off, but his mind went blank at the sudden pull on his wings. He can't even recall calling them out. "Are you thinking of him?" The tone Sung Jin-Woo used when asking caused the Demon King to shiver. He can't even think of who the Monarch was talking about, but before he could ask Sung Jin-Woo continued, "Doesn't matter. He can't come here for you. This realm is my domain."
"Where-Where are we?" He could feel his eyes watering up when the Monarch said he couldn't see him, whoever he was. Now that he thought about it; How did he meet Sung Jin-Woo? Why did he know the Shadow Soldiers were loyal to him? Bells were ringing in his head, telling him that something was wrong, but the rough, pleasurable thrusts were causing his head to become hazy. Or perhaps something else was affecting his mind?
He could recall when he accepted the Monarch’s confession: their first date and the dates beyond that. The first time they hugged, kissed, made out, and had sex. He could recall all that, but when he tried to think of something other than Sung Jin-Woo, his memories became hazy. That is, until he recalled where they were before.
"Did… Did I die?" Kim Dokja asked slowly. He could recall being sliced up and remembered the body of a woman next to him in a forested area. The man who cut him down didn't stop. He didn't stop cutting up his body until he found what he wanted.

There was a voice in his head. It's not normal to hear voices in one's head other than your own. That's something Kim Dokja did know. Still, hearing it made him feel safe as he proceeded to cry in the Monarch's arms. "Why did he do that? I was so sure I got through to him." He could recall it now, who killed him. Well, who brought him close to death until Sung Jin-Woo used Shadow Exchange to get him away from Yoo Joonghyuk.
"Don't think of him. Only me. Do you hear me, Hyung? He's not your companion anymore. Not after he did that." Sung Jin-Woo pleaded for his Hyung to listen as he slowed down his thrusts and hugged his Hyung close. He could feel the wet tears on his chest, but he didn't care. What he did care about was the fact that Yoo Joonghyuk finally messed up. Now he had a viable reason to snatch Kim Dokja away. It took so long to alter his Hyung’s memories to change Yoo Joonghyuk's relationship with his own.
He hated the fact that Yoo Joonghyuk got all of Kim Dokja's first, but now that he messed up Sung Jin-Woo didn't hesitate in buying potions to change selective memories. It still made his blood boil when he thought about how lovely Kim Dokja was to Yoo Joonghyuk, just for the man to beat him up to a pulp. All it took was a few words from the Outer God, Secretive Plotter, and Yoo Joonghyuk abandoned his lover for some soul searching and proceeded to come back to Kim Dokja with the agenda to harm him. Anyone who even thought of harming Kim Dokja didn’t deserve his love.
So Sung Jin-Woo waited patiently, agonizingly, until the perfect moment to snatch Kim Dokja away. He was still smug about the surprised expression on Yoo Joonghyuk's face, as Kim Dokja was taken away from him before he could even have a chance to explain himself. Beru had been watching the live stream and told him Yoo Joonghyuk had tried to follow them through the shadow exchange but had failed. He was also informed that Yoo Joonghyuk looked broken when he saw his lover vanish without being able to stop it.
Good. He deserved to wallo w in sorrow after losing someone like Kim Dokja because of his own foolish actions. Pressing kisses on top of Kim Dokja's head, Sung Jin-Woo stopped thrusting until he heard his heartbroken sobbing slow down. "Don't think about him anymore. He doesn't deserve a single ounce of your worry."
He also didn't want him to remember too much of Yoo Joonghyuk as he hadn't finished all of the memory swipe. He still had some pesky, meaningless moments he needed to alter so Kim Dokja wouldn’t remember even having an ounce of romantic love for Yoo Joonghyuk. Sung Jin-Woo would make sure to cover all bases so he doesn't lose his mate. After playing the long game for 10 years, he finally had Kim Dokja where he wanted him. Kim Dokja, under him and loving only him, as it should be.
If only the Apocalypse had never happened— this moment would have happened much sooner.
