Liu Qingge was a disciple the first time he heard about dual cultivation. He didn't pay attention because since young he was more interested in fighting, weapons, and monsters.
Liu Qingge was already a Peak Lord the next time he heard about dual cultivation. It was just the morning after his appointment. They had held a party at the Twelve Peaks the night before, and many of his martial brothers were still suffering the consequences of the excesses. Liu Qingge was strolling through Bai Zhan Peak when he overheard a conversation by mistake.
“...Yeah! They were dual cultivating last night! You have to believe me!”
“Now I understand why we haven't seen them this morning. If they have spent the whole night doing dual cultivation they will now be exhausted.”
“Especially since our shidi is full of energy!”
Liu Qingge ignored those laughs. He only paid attention to the fact that dual cultivation required physical effort, in addition to deducing that it involved two people as the dual already indicated. Liu Qingge wondered what kind of cultivation was that if it would be more exhausting than his usual training. He guessed not and continued focused on his fights, weapons, and monsters.
A few years later, Liu Qingge heard that the White Sidereal Dragon would soon appear.
That was one of his favorite legends since he was little. It was said that the dragon had lived millennia, that his fire was icy, and that he was the size of a mountain. All the great heroes in history had managed to leave his mark in the form of a scar, although none managed to hurt him beyond that. He was the unbeatable legend and while the other Peak Lords organized with the other sects to evacuate the affected populations, Liu Qingge increased his training without neglecting his obligations.
One afternoon, Liu Qingge snuck into Qing Jing Peak while Shen Qingqiu was away. Or so he mistakenly thought: Shen Qingqiu was so close that he found him in the library. Liu Qingge had never liked him, but even his arrogant and annoyed expression was better than reading a book by himself. And in that library, there were many books.
“May I help you, shidi?” His voice was as poisonous as ever and he had the smile of a snake.
“White Sidereal Dragon.”
“Hm?” Shen Qingqiu raised an eyebrow, minimally interested. "History? Physiology? Skills? Do you want a summary or can you read on your own?"
Liu Qingge preferred to have some disciple summarizing it for him, but he didn’t admit it to prevent Shen Qingqiu from taunting him.
“How to kill.”
“I can try.”
Shen Qingqiu looked at him as he idly fanned himself before bursting out laughing. His laugh was like his voice: without a hint of sympathy, sharp as a handful of broken glass.
“You can’t be serious!” Shen Qingqiu's smile froze upon discovering that Liu Qingge had not moved a single facial muscle. "You are serious. Beast. Animal without sense."
“Do you have the information or not?” He was starting to get irritated and crossed his arms over his chest. All the time he was wasting in the library he could focus on keeping practicing.
“You already accused me once of stabbing you in the back. I won’t give you any information that will actually kill you.” Shen Qingqiu used his fan to indicate the door. "Out of my peak."
Two months later, when a monstrous shadow covered the sky and crops were ruined, when twenty-seven cities and towns were evacuated, when even demons hid underground, Liu Qingge went to confront the White Sidereal Dragon with his purposive steel. He was accompanied by half of his sect since Shen Qingqiu was unable to remain quiet. In the front line, his hateful martial brother lazily fanned himself while Mu Qingfang tried to convince him not to.
“I’m going,” he insists, getting rid of the healer, who sighed heavily (while preparing a lot of pills, poultices, and medicines).
"Marvellous!" Shen Qingqiu yawned. "I hope you don't take much longer, I don't want to miss the show."
Liu Qingge didn’t even manage to touch the beast: the mere flutter of his wings sent him flying several meters and he lost consciousness from the blow. Fortunately, his martial brothers rescued him from a hole shaped like his body. He had broken half his bones and for the next several months, Liu Qingge stayed in a coma.
When he woke up, he wondered how he could get stronger. When he was able to get out of bed, he organized a new schedule. When Mu Qingfang finally allowed him to resume his activities, he began his new training.
Liu Qingge had an unmatched talent, but his body was mortal and possessed limits. Although his cultivation improved over the next few years like his fame, that crushing defeat was a wound on his pride that never healed. Liu Qingge hunted the most fearsome monsters and faced demon cities alone, traveled for months, and researched new cultivation techniques, but nothing was enough.
Shen Qingqiu used to remind his failure, just as he bragged about having stolen the most talented boy from the last host of disciples. Liu Qingge didn't care: he had other goals than training brats.
And then one day, he heard his older disciples talking about dual cultivation.
The teens blushed in embarrassment when their shizun emerged from the shadows with that inscrutable expression of his and implying that he had listened to them. The group of four tried to flee, but Liu Qingge intercepted them.
“Do not stop for me, I am also interested in the subject.” He spoke with the same seriousness as he usually described monsters to them. He also crossed his arms with the arrogant posture of a War God oblivious to social conventions.
None of his disciples found it strange. His teacher looked very young and everyone adored him.
“Well...” Said the first, a very brave and shameless boy with ears dyed pink. “We were discussing the benefits of dual cultivation. All theoretical, of course.” He dared to make up the truth without blinking. Liu Qingge, despite knowing the gang of brutes that he was in charge of, wasn’t suspicious of the careful words of his disciple.
“Hmm. Go ahead.”
The teens exchanged a troubled look, convinced that their teacher was waiting for an opportunity to catch them and send them five hundred laps.
“Well...” The same boy replied, shifting his weight from foot to foot. “You improve your cultivation with the collaboration of your cultivation partner. We haven't practiced it... yet ..." he muttered the last word very quickly. "But we know that dual cultivation is another completely valid technique on the cultivation path that allows goals that cannot be achieved by cultivating normally."
Liu Qingge raised an eyebrow with interest. He had been stuck in cultivating for too long and his usual meditation techniques now only allowed him to advance very slowly. Perhaps it was time to investigate other paths.
“Can you only dual cultivate with a cultivation partner?”
And this surprise exam? The teenagers lamented. They had joined Bai Zhan Peak to hit hard and study little. Of course, their shizun needed to make sure that they understood dual cultivation before beating them down. Or so they thought.
“It’s the ideal, I guess,” answered another girl. “I mean, there is no rule that prohibits you from dual cultivating with different people, but it is poorly considered.”
The girl looked at her friends who, cowardly, had hidden behind her.
“Well… You trust your cultivation partner. You are channeling your respective energies and that is an intimate process that you should not share with everyone.”
“But it must not only be a cultivation partner but also someone with a cultivation level similar to yours, am I wrong?” Liu Qingge deduced thanks to the new information.
Strangely, the teenagers' eyes lit up as always as he explained the latest fighting technique he had developed.
“Thanks, shizun, for enlightening us!”
Possessing more answers, Liu Qingge dismissed the disciples who ran out to do five hundred laps around the peak on their own initiative. His youth was always this enthusiastic and energetic. Liu Qingge walked towards his house wondering where to find someone to dual cultivate. He was not interested in a cultivation partner, so he should ask people he trusted. Liu Qingge sighed. And that's why he hated cultivation techniques that involved working with other people.
In the tranquility of his home, Liu Qingge prepared tea while weighing his options and rearranging the information he possessed. Dual cultivation seemed to involve very aggressive fighting techniques that could only be used in confidence, lasted for hours, and then had to rest (like all physical techniques), in addition to linking the qi channels of its participants. Liu Qingge drank. In Cang Qiong Sect he could only consider his martial brothers, but not all of them had a valid level and enough physical constitution for a technique of that caliber.
After discarding most of them, he decided to ask Yue Qingyuan first.
Yue Qingyuan was the kindest and most powerful. He surely wouldn't refuse and it would be beneficial to both of them. Determined, Liu Qingge flew up to Qiong Ding Peak. Unfortunately, Yue Qingyuan was away on sect business. A fact that he would know if he had paid more attention in the sect meetings.
In the following weeks, Liu Qingge tried to meet privately with Yue Qingyuan, but their leader was always busy, with reunions or handling external affairs.
At the next Peak Lords meeting, Liu Qingge ignored the content and kept an eye on Yue Qingyuan without even blinking. He was stubborn to ask him that day when everyone else was gone and no one would bother them. However, at the end of the meeting, Yue Qingyuan called Shang Qinghua to review some papers. Liu Qingge snorted and went out to wait at the door.
A hideous green-robed figure approached him. Although he fanned himself idly, his posture was suspicious and his eyes were cold.
“What do you want from Zhangmen-shixiong?” Shen Qingqiu asked him with his usual demand. “You are acting suspiciously today, shidi.”
“Not your business.”
“Like when you tried to fight White Sidereal Dragon? You still haven't thanked me for saving your life. Your welcome, by the way.”
Liu Qingge frowned, irritated at hearing his sarcastic voice.
“Don’t you have anything better to do?” He exhorted him.
“Hmmm… No.” Shen Qingqiu stepped in front of him, keeping a safe distance. “What monster do you want to kill now? I suspect that it will be an especially dangerous one for you to so insistently need Zhangmen-shixiong's permission. This time you are not going to ask me for information? Perhaps I can give you another wise advice that you will ignore like: Don't fly against a giant dragon .”
A cruel and crooked smirk appeared on his lips. Liu Qingge snorted, tired and annoyed, his pride trembling after Shen Qingqiu reminded him of his defeat.
“It's nothing like that,” he growled.
“I don't believe it." Shen Qingqiu backed away a bit while fanning himself. "You only think of the same thing: killing monsters, training, beating disciples, killing monsters, training, dirtying my peak..."
Liu Qingge narrowed his eyes and glared at him. All his patience had been consumed and he suddenly felt the urge to show that arrogant smug that he was a more complex person than he believed.
“It’s nothing like that,” he insisted with clenched teeth. “I want to ask him if he wants to dual cultivate with me.”
Shen Qingqiu slapped him without any warning.
“Shen Qingqiu!” He protested, even more furious, as he put a hand to his cheek.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered in a honeyed voice, his gaze sharp as ice daggers. “I haven’t heard you correctly, can you repeat what you want to ask Yue Qingyuan?”
“You heard me perfectly! I just want to ask him if he wants to dual cultivate with me...”
This time, Liu Qingge managed to dodge his slap.
“What’s wrong with you?” He protested without understanding why Shen Qingqiu had forgotten his usual insults to try to hit him. Generally, he was the one who started all the fights.
“That’s what I should ask you!” Shen Qingqiu had erased his smile and was looking at him with contempt worse than what he would dedicate to cockroaches and worms. “Aren’t you ashamed? Or are you interested in becoming his cultivation partner?”
Liu Qingge considered it wise to walk away from Shen Qingqiu before replying.
“No.” As he suspected, the contempt in Shen Qingqiu's eyes deepened. “What is your problem? Yue Qingyuan and I are old enough to make our own decisions and take responsibility. I won't do anything he doesn't want” he added.
“Tsk, men, all the same.” Shen Qingqiu clicked his tongue before pointing his fan at him. “Listen to me well, little War God: stay away from Yue Qingyuan. If you don't try to take advantage of him, I'll keep this conversation a secret.” His gaze darkened. "But if your honor is feeble and you try to pressure him, I'll rip your insides out with my nails. Is that clear to you?"
“Why are you so worried?” Liu Qingge didn’t understand him. “Yue Qingyuan is more powerful than you and he can dual cultivate with me without any problem. I could never force him.”
“That idiot doesn't know how to refuse people. He is too naive and kind, so I have to be the cruel one. Stay away from Yue Qingyuan or you will regret it.”
Liu Qingge watched with dumbfoundedness as Shen Qingqiu walked away. Sighing, he dismissed Yue Qingyuan from his shortlist. Liu Qingge wasn’t used to failure and didn’t understand how he had lost his best option without even being able to ask. However, Shen Qingqiu was right: Yue Qingyuan always agreed to everything, even if he wasn’t comfortable. It was better to avoid a dangerous physical cultivation session if one of them wasn't convinced.
However, that didn’t explain Shen Qingqiu's violent attitude. He had only commented that he wanted to practice a cultivation technique with a person he admired, why those slaps? Why those looks of contempt? Shen Qingqiu should already be used to training with him and knowing his quarrelsome personality…
He opened his eyes when he understood. Would Shen Qingqiu be jealous?
“Shen Qingqiu!” He screamed as he chased after him. His martial brother stopped to give him a disdained look. “Are you upset that I didn't propose to you?”
Liu Qingge saw the blood drain from Shen Qingqiu’s face in the split second.
“What are you talking about?”
“You are my training partner...”
“Against my will.”
“...Has it bothered you that I didn't ask you first? Honestly, I don't care. Nor would it be the first time that you and I...”
Only Liu Qingge's inhuman reflexes allowed him to dodge Shen Qingqiu's killer qi-laden fan.
“One more word and I'll kill you.”
Shen Qingqiu left, furious and menacing like an ice storm, and Liu Qingge crossed off another name from his list. A little disappointed, he picked up the fan from the ground. I will never understand him , he thought. Shen Qingqiu always reluctantly agreed to train with him (and because Liu Qingge used to draw first and he had no choice but to block his attacks to survive), so he wasn’t surprised that he refused to engage in a dangerous technique. However, he could have used a more agreeable way to say No .
His next name: Qi Qingqi.
Although men couldn’t enter Xian Shu Peak, Qi Qingqi had no problem going to the city to have tea with him. The two of them met at one of their favorite tea houses. Surrounded by cakes and a scented kettle, Liu Qingge proposed to Qi Qingqi if she wanted to dual cultivate with him.
She looked at him with wide eyes and a grimace of horror.
“I thought it was pretty obvious that I am not interested in men,” she mumbled after recovering from her surprise.
“It’s not indifferent?”
“Well, it's evident that you don't care, but some of us have preferences, shidi.”
So, another name is less on his list. At this rate, he will have to ask a monk from Zhao Hua Temple.
Qi Qingqi watched him curiously as she chose a sweet to savor greedily.
“May I ask your other options? If it's not a problem, of course.”
“No, it’s not.” Liu Qingge shrugged. “I was interested in Yue Qingyuan, but Shen Qingqiu found out and warned me that it was a bad idea. And then he threw a fan at my head when I proposed it to him.”
Qi Qingqi laughed.
“Oh, shidi! You have to be more tactful. You can't ask Shen Qingqiu after telling him that you were interested in Yue Qingyuan. Anyone would be offended.”
... perhaps that explained Shen Qingqiu's disproportionate reaction.
“You know?” Qi Qingqi commented with a sweet voice. “Shen Qingqiu's reaction has been very soft, I’m surprised that he threw a fan at you and not a sword. Maybe you should try again.”
Liu Qingge looked at her without distinguishing her malicious smile or the hidden interest in her eyes.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. But you need to be more tactful.”
Next target: Shen Qingqiu (again).
Armed with Qi Qingqi's advice, Liu Qingge went to Qing Jing Peak one morning. After dodging some impatient brats, he found Shen Qingqiu in the library, consulting a manual. The arrogant immortal gave him a curious look without changing his posture as if Liu Qingge's presence was irrelevant.
“What do you want?”
“To return your fan.” Liu Qingge set it down on a table before looking him straight in the eye. “And wonder if you have reconsidered dual cultivate with me.”
Shen Qingqiu's lips tightened into a crooked line as he narrowed his eyes.
“What makes you think I'm interested?”
Liu Qingge didn't catch the sarcasm in his voice.
“I want to advance in my cultivation and you are also interested in improving. We have trained many times and I know your stamina, you are my best option to dual cultivate safely.”
Shen Qingqiu snorted before rubbing the bridge of his nose.
“You are quite determined, are you? Take my advice: forget about this topic and don't ask anyone outside of Cang Qiong Sect.”
“How did it go?" Qi Qingqiu asked him when Liu Qingge left the Qing Jing Peak library. Surprisingly, she smiled when he told her everything. "That’s a kind rejection from Shen Qingqiu. Do you know what I suspect? He has insisted so much that you stay away from Yue Qingyuan and the others because he is minimally interested. Now, you must first earn his trust. Let this shijie give you some advice..."
Once again, Liu Qingge wasn’t aware of her mischievous smile.
In the following months, Liu Qingge strove to improve his relationship with Shen Qingqiu. It was complicated since Shen Qingqiu was a hateful person who despised all his efforts and always irritated him. Still, Liu Qingge prevented his disciples from disturbing the Qing Jing Peak ones and gave him a few gifts besides inviting him to eat. He also avoided destroying more infrastructures when he chased after him to spar.
“This is the ninth time this week!” Shen Qingqiu grunted when he saw him land, Cheng Luan was already drawn. "What do you want?"
“I told you: if we ever dual cultivate we must train first.” He explained while attacking.
Shen Qingqiu blocked all of his blows without dishevelling. He always managed to stay pristine despite physical exercise.
“But what kind of brute are you?" All his words were accompanied by a hit. "Right now I could take you how I want and where I want.”
Liu Qingge frowned as he feinted.
“I don’t think so.”
“Is it a challenge, shidi?” There was a malicious gleam in his eyes. “These damn kids... Binghe, Yingying, stay away or this brute will hit you!”
Liu Qingge turned his head to dodge the children... and discovered that there was no one behind him. Shen Qingqiu took advantage of the distraction to trip him over and pinned him to the ground. Xiu Ya's edge brushed his neck while Shen Qingqiu settled on his chest drawing a smirk on his lips. The same one who always complained of sweat and stink after training this time didn't mind running his hand down Liu Qingge's chest.
“You know?” He whispered, tilting his face towards Liu Qingge's. “Maybe I don't dislike this posture.”
And he quickly stood up, sheathing Xiu Ya. As always, he didn't hold out a hand to him to get up or pay him more attention. Even so, Liu Qingge left with the feeling that Shen Qingqiu looked at him one last time with interest before turning his back on him.
They kept talking about the topic during their brief encounters training, doing missions together, or at some Peak Lords meetings. During a night hunt in which they had to share a room in an inn, Shen Qingqiu gave him a threatening look.
“I hope you have no intention of practicing dual cultivation tonight.”
Liu Qingge sighed, tired of always repeating the same words to him.
“Only when you also want. And it's a bad night. Tomorrow we must take care of a nest of monsters and we cannot be tired.”
Shen Qingqiu made his way to the table and sat down with his calculated grace. There was something in his gaze that indicated to Liu Qingge that he should sit next to him.
“To be clear: I am not interested in any of these practices with you, but I am curious about your intentions. How much do you want to do? How much time and rounds?”
“As much as our bodies resist.”
Shen Qingqiu closed his fan while shaking his head.
“Why doesn't it surprise me? Listen to me shidi: don't expect to find anyone as foolish as you in this world. You better start small.”
“That is why I want to do it with you.” Liu Qingge frowned. “We belong to the same generation and your level is not bad, you could even improve. Since we have fought long enough, I know well the limits of your body. Nothing bad would happen.”
“Except I'm not interested.”
Liu Qingge wasn’t surprised: Shen Qingqiu was a lazy rich master who had started cultivating late and contaminated his cultivation by going to brothels. What a pity.
That night, while Liu Qingge was bathing, Shen Qingqiu leaned out to examine him curiously behind the fan.
During their next conversations, Liu Qingge discovered that Shen Qingqiu was asking him more and more hypothetical questions. Dual cultivation went from surreal to a possibility.
“I'm starting to consider it,” he muttered once after a meeting with Huan Hua Palace in which he was arguing with his rival cultivators. “Perhaps pushing you against a wall would help me against stress.”
Liu Qingge looked at him, surprised since they didn’t usually speak in meetings between sects and less in whispers as if they were friends. It wasn’t the first time that Shen Qingqiu joked with him about dual cultivation. For some reason, that made Liu Qingge relax. When he wasn't insulting him or acting like a rabid cat, it was even nice to walk next to him. The image of Shen Qingqiu violently facing him to release stress was so hilarious to him that Liu Qingge smiled.
“You can do it if you have the strength to bend me.”
Shen Qingqiu hummed thoughtfully as he gave him one of those looks that were so common recently, like training sessions and spending time together. It was a gaze of appraisal, evaluating every detail of Liu Qingge and pausing especially on his pecs.
“Perhaps we should first specify details in the hypothetical case that it happens,” he murmured, revealing a pink tinge of his cheeks that the fan couldn’t hide.
Liu Qingge nodded but gave it no further importance since Shen Qingqiu always clung to his refusal in the end. Nothing was happening. Since he had promised himself that he wouldn’t force anyone, he continued to advance on his slower but lonely path.
However, Shen Qingqiu agreed when he least expected it. Although he only agreed to assess the details in a non-binding chat.
The two met at his bamboo house, where no one would disturb them, not disciples, not Peak Lords, lately they were whispering and smiling too much behind their backs. Shen Qingqiu insisted on drawing the limits of what was allowed and Liu Qingge thought it was a good idea.
“No injuries.” That was his first condition. "I don't want to end up with bruises and you seem like one of those who mark their trophies."
Liu Qingge crossed his arms, offended as incredulous. No matter how hard he tried, marks were inevitable in a fight.
“That requirement is impossible, some will be unavoidable.”
To his surprise, Shen Qingqiu didn’t contradict him and seemed to consider the possibility.
“Fine...” He nodded. He was acting strange, but in recent months his character had softened when he was with Liu Qingge. Maybe it had been the gifts and the sweets. “I want to bite you.”
“What? First, you don't want wounds and now you want to bite me?”
Liu Qingge was looking at him with wide eyes. Shen Qingqiu had opened the fan and was hiding with that fake normality that he already recognized as shame.
“Yes. And push you against the wall. It’s okay, shidi?”
His voice sounded less arrogant too, with a hint of curiosity. Liu Qingge looked into his eyes before shrugging.
“Good for me.”
“You want something?” He cleared his throat. “Are you interested in any particular posture?”
Qi Qingqi had given him a book about dual cultivation, but he hadn't opened it yet, so he wasn't informed about the different techniques.
“Eventually, all of them.”
Shen Qingqiu nearly choked behind the fan.
“You are quite obsessed!”
“No, if we start, I intend to master all the techniques. Of course, the first time we should try the simplest ones to avoid getting hurt.”
“Well, at least you have some common sense.” He sighed as he fanned himself. “You have to know that I will only repeat if I like the first time. You better please me, shidi.”
“I always give my best about myself.” He promised him. Perhaps it was the poor lighting, but he found a faint blush on Shen Qingqiu's cheeks.
“We should continue,” he muttered. “We already have the place and the time. Have you thought about who will set the pace?”
“You are clearly more informed, so I had considered that you start and then I do.”
“Fine, maybe in the second round you will be quite tired and you will not be very rough. How many rounds do you plan? And don't even think about saying Until we get tired !”
That's what Liu Qingge was going to say.
“How many can you hold?”
This time he did see it: an intense blush colored Shen Qingqiu's cheeks and ears, softening his features and gaze.
“I don't know, it's my first time. Maybe two is okay.”
“Very few,” he complained, earning a warning look.
“It’s also your first time, don't be so cocky. If it goes well, we will repeat it. If not, I don’t want you to step on my peak anymore or breathe the same air as me.”
Liu Qingge had already gotten used to Shen Qingqiu's vain threats, so he ignored them.
“No bindings, gags, or anything strange this first time. Nor hold my wrists if I don't permit you.”
“And the rest of the body?”
“Some… are fine.”
Shen Qingqiu was strangely precise in some details and very ambiguous in others. Liu Qingge had no problem setting limits and upon thinking about it, he discovered that he also had some preferences.
“No dirty games.”
“So… You don’t like from behind?” Shen Qingqiu savored the words, giving him an interesting look that he didn’t understand.
“Fine, something more?”
Shen Qingqiu also insisted that Liu Qingge should practice to not harm him. That unjust accusation offended him. He got up early every day to do his battery of exercises for three hours! If anything, it should be Shen Qingqiu who should increase his training.
“I’m ready. I train every day ..." Shen Qingqiu choked upon hearing him, looking at him with wide eyes. "I've already told you a thousand times that I take all the risks of dual cultivation very seriously."
"Every... day?" He muttered, visibly surprised.
“But what kind of inhuman resistance do you have?!”
“That’s why I have insisted that you should train more or you won’t hold on with my rhythm.”
Shen Qingqiu's fan was dead in his hand, revealing a pale face that reflected more emotions than usual. Shen Qingqiu gulped before hitting him with the handle of the fan on the head.
“You are going to change your training," he ordered with such severity that Liu Qingge didn’t dare to refute. "Stupid brute, it is called dual cultivation because it involves another person. You better learn to adjust to your partner's rhythms or you'll kill us both."
Perhaps Liu Qingge didn’t like working in pairs for that reason, since there was still no one with his level (maybe Yue Qingyuan), but Shen Qingqiu's arguments were reasonable. Although it was Shen Qingqiu's fault that he was so lazy and hadn't practiced hard before trying some dangerous and intense techniques.
Even so, Liu Qingge wasn’t selfish. His intention wasn’t to hurt Shen Qingqiu (especially now that they were almost friends) but to enhance his cultivation. Since he had no experience in preventing injuries, he decided to seek the advice of someone more expert.
The next day, Liu Qingge searched for Mu Qingfang at his peak.
“Can I help you, shidi?” He asked, checking his unusually pristine and uninjured appearance. “How many disciples this time?”
“None. I came for advice.”
“Oh,” Mu Qingfang raised an eyebrow, surprised at his change in attitude. He smiled at him and gestured his shidi to follow him to his office. Once they were seated, he handed him a cup of tea. "This is the first time you have come for advice. This humble one will try to guide you as best he can, what do you need help with?"
Mu Qingfang almost spitted out the tea.
“How direct, shidi," he murmured. "As a healer, I am not ashamed of dual cultivation and it makes me proud that you come to ask me for advice before starting a risky practice. I suspect you already have a partner?”
“May I ask about his cultivation level?”
“Not bad. Lower but not much.”
“Have you already had a previous meeting?”
“We have trained several times, but my partner insists that he cannot keep my rhythm and I must adapt to his.”
“Your partner is right.” Mu Qingfang looked at him sternly. “Dual cultivation is a unique process for each couple. Although the essence is the same, it depends a lot on your bodies. Not everyone reacts the same or has the same preferences. You have to respect your partner and acknowledge all non-verbal and explicit cues about what he likes and when you hurt him.”
“We have already talked about our limits.”
“I am glad to see that you are both quite responsible." Mu Qingfang nodded approvingly. "I also appreciate that your partner is sincere with you and you listen to his words. Pay attention to me, shidi: communication is essential. During the first time, you are going to face a lot of new experiences and you won't like all of them. And there are other things that you do not know and maybe you will love later. It's about trying and repeating. The trick is to know your partner's body.”
Liu Qingge thought of Shen Qingqiu and his stamina, his lightweight when he pinned him against the ground, his limbs lean but muscular. In his incredibly green eyes, his long fingers, and slender white neck. Liu Qingge shook his head to stop those indecent thoughts.
“I consider that I know the essentials of his body quite well.”
“Great! Previous preparation is also very important. You have to soften the muscles to avoid damage." Mu Qingfang spoke with his medical professionalism while Liu Qingge drank every one of his words. "You can also use some tricks to relax your partner. Have you already decided your roles? Who will top whom?”
“My partner starts and then me. We will alternate.”
“Another great idea. For your first time, it is too early to know which role you prefer. Later you will discover which positions you feel most comfortable with.”
“Is there a recommended posture for the first time?”
“The basic ones. I guess you know them, shidi.”
Liu Qingge, master of the peak of fighting and physical abilities, nodded.
“I suppose these are my fundamental tips: communication, preparation, and being careful to prevent hurting your partner. If your partner is scared of your intensity, try to contain your energy. You will prolong the moment and both of you will enjoy it more.”
Mu Qingfang stood up and rummaged through his materials to return with a pot filled with a sticky substance. Liu Qingge assumed it was a balm for future injuries.
“You're welcome. I hope you both enjoy the experience.”
A week later, the two of them went to the Lingxi Caves. They entered on different days so as not to arouse suspicion, even feigning ignorance about each other's affairs when they spoke to Yue Qingyuan. It was Liu Qingge who proposed the caves: they were far away, no one would hear them, and they could justify their improvement thanks to meditation. Furthermore, the caves were filled with spirit energy and had enough room to fight.
When they found the ideal spot, Shen Qingqiu pulled a pot from his sleeves and set it on the ground.
“I have come prepared because I doubted that you would remember.”
Perhaps Liu Qingge hadn't even remembered to open Qi Qingqi's book, let alone read it, but he had also brought Mu Qingfang's pot. He took it out to show it to Shen Qingqiu who nodded with satisfaction.
“Maybe it’s not necessary,” Liu Qingge commented. “I promised you that I won't hurt you.”
“It is not a question of wanting, without preparation it is physically impossible that it doesn’t hurt.”
It all made sense until Shen Qingqiu began to undress.
“What are you doing?” Liu Qingge asked him, earning an exasperated look.
“You do what you want, but I don't want to stain my clothes.”
Everything still made sense. Even when Shen Qingqiu took off his belt and pants. After assessing him, Liu Qingge considered that he should also undress to be equal. Also, it was less awkward that way.
Shen Qingqiu approached him with silent footsteps, he looked like an ethereal nymph in the gloom of the cave. Liu Qingge had just removed his inner robes when he stepped in front of him. Shen Qingqiu's fingers slid over his skin as he helped him finish removing his clothes. Liu Qingge gulped as he felt a new and different heat on his chest. Instead of pulling away, Shen Qingqiu moved closer until their chests brushed. Liu Qingge’s eyes widened. They were so close that he could feel his breath and heartbeat, more restless than what his face reflected. Shen Qingqiu's usual coldness melted as he turned his head and kissed him, his hands resting on Liu Qingge's hips.
Liu Qingge wasn’t thinking when he opened his mouth and allowed Shen Qingqiu's tongue to conquer him. But he felt there was something strange. Shen Qingqiu's hands slid mischievously over his chest as he kissed him harder and harder, without allowing him to breathe.
When Shen Qingqiu pressed his hips against him, when a burst of heat grew in the most intimate part of his body, then Liu Qingge finally pulled him away, his back hitting the wall.
“What are you doing!?” He gasped.
“You didn’t like it?” There was unusual insecurity in his tone of voice. Perhaps it was because of the darkness, because he was naked, or because a few seconds before they had been kissing, but Shen Qingqiu seemed like a different person.
“I don't understand what you are doing.”
“Hmm ... Dual cultivating with you.” Suddenly, there was a flash of understanding in Shen Qingqiu's eyes. "You know what dual cultivation is, right?"
Liu Qingge frowned and nodded.
“Special and dangerous fighting techniques.”
Shen Qingqiu froze. For a few seconds, he didn't even blink. Then, he burst out laughing.
And that's why Liu Qingge qi deviated.
- After Shen Qingqiu saved him, Liu Qingge realized what are Shen Qingqiu's kinks.
- Embarrassed, they ignored each other for three years during their seclusion.
- During the demon invasion, they argued while slaughtering the demons without allowing Sha Hualing her three fights.
- All the peak lords (and the entire sect) believed they spent 3 years doing… dual cultivation.
- Liu Qingge was unable to face the other Peak Lords for a year (especially Qi Qingqi).
- The two of them became cultivation partners after dual cultivating once.
- Liu Qingge discovered that he also had kinks.
- Shen Qingqiu protected Liu Qingge from Luo Binghe post-Abyss, who was very interested in a rumor that Liu Qingge wanted to do dual cultivation for a whole day without stopping.
