One Apogee was so much like another, in those years around the gravity spindle now, out of all sound except the comforting humming of the engines I sometimes remember a moment before sleep, that I can never remember whether the asteroid belt cut us off from communications for six days and six nights when I was twelve or twelve days and twelve nights when I was six.
Bursting with whimsy, heart, and clever, thoughtful detail. I love that there are still cats and mice in space. I love the hodge-podge of cultural traditions cozying up to each other, radish candies and paper cranes, and maybe most of all I love the sense of scale: the child's small, warm world, and the places where she brushes against its limits and wonders at the vast, gorgeous, alien universe beyond.
