"When I was out there just now I saw inside her." -- Lotty, The Enchanted April, Chapter 9
“... nobody could be more unreserved than Scrap, once she let herself go." - The Enchanted April, Chapter 14
Lady Caroline loved once, and lost, and determined never to put herself through that again. And Lotty already found love, didn't she, even if it was with a man who (in Caroline's firm opinion) would never deserve her. That, really, should settle the matter.
My PERFECT gift, which deftly fixes the glaring, painful problem I had with the end of the book ... and does it with style! The dreamy quality of Von Arnim’s writing and Lady Caroline’s delightfully acerbic internal cynicism are both here in full force, and it fits quite nicely into canon in every respect. I could not be more delighted.
