Under the Moonlight

Chapter Text

Hastened foot steps were heard throughout the dark and dangerous forest; the sounds of scrunching broken tree branches and hasty breaths being the only sound in the quiet place. Run! Keep running! The panicking omega’s legs kept moving, his heart pumping and lungs taking painful breaths. His calves burned already with the fast pace, but he didn’t know for how long he would have to keep running for. Something told him he was going to be in real trouble if he didn’t get back to the village soon. Why did he have to listen to Joyeon? He should have known this would be dangerous!

The omega reached a section in the forest that divided into two major paths and with no time to debate, he chose to continue making his way towards the right. His pace was starting to slow down, his legs no longer keeping up with the demand. His eyes were watery and his nose was running as the cold air hit his face full force. Push! You have to keep going! The omega wasn’t sure if he was still being followed, but he didn’t want to risk the chance of the other still being around.

His nose could still pick up a slight scent, the smell of oil and burnt ashes still prominent in his mind. The small omega wore only a thin jacket, not having planned on staying out for too long to really feel the cold of winter. His fingers were starting to feel a little numb, but he blew hot air onto them from his mouth the most he could, something that proved to be quite difficult in his situation.

He eventually came to a halt when he noticed he hit a dead-end. If he would have kept on running he would have fallen off a ravine. And probably died. Shit! He was really hoping he would have made it back to the village, to the safety of his mate’s arms. Jeongguk please don’t blame yourself over this, I love you. Tears came to the omega’s eyes as he desperately searched left and right for ways in which to get down the ravine safely, or continue his escape through another route. He looked behind him and could hear, and smell, the wolf slowly approaching. It seems the wolf was giving chase after all.

Growls could be heard getting closer, the smell of oil and burnt ashes getting stronger as red eyes could be seen in the darkness of the forest. The omega was taking gulps of burning cold air, limbs shaking and vision starting to blur.

“Stop! If you take any more steps you will be held for treason! You are attacking the Head Omega of the Jeon pack! If you harm me in any way you will be killed without question,” the omega wheezed out, his lungs continuously burning.

The wolf snarled, his legs still moving forward, and the omega retrieved back a few steps, getting closer to the edge of the ravine, but not far enough. “You don’t want to do this! Please, just let me go!” he begged, his feet still aching to get away.

The wolf halted for a moment; a moment that gave the omega hope, but just as he was about to claim victory the wolf gave one last jump and took the omega down. The brunt of the force took his breath away, his back hitting the ground hard and head smashing against a rock on the floor. His vision went black for a moment and strong burning pain took hold over his head, making him gasp in pain. The wolf was on him, hot breath and saliva hitting his face, making him whimper in response.

The wolf growled and brought his snout to the omega’s neck, taking gulping breaths and releasing a stronger scent, the smell of oil taking a slight burnt twist and the acrid smell of acid taking place. He smells rabid, this can’t be good. The omega struggled underneath the wolf, throwing his fists in hopes to deter the wolf from moving any further, but it was like his limbs no longer had any strength in them. He felt tired and cold. He could no longer feel his face and the strong smell coming from the wolf was making him dizzy. I really hope it’s not Jeongguk who finds my body. Please don’t let it be him.

The wolf proceeded to sniff his entire body, moving slowly down his torso and nearing an area that had the omega whimpering in fear and shame. The sound brought the wolf’s attention back to the omega’s neck, leaving a path of saliva as it ascended back up his trembling body. As soon as the omega could feel the wolf’s sharp teeth starting to sink into his shoulder, a sound was heard nearby.

A familiar scent could be smelled in the cold air, proving that another was approaching the pair. The wolf let out a loud growl, gave a strong lick to his neck, and jumped off the omega, running into the forest and disappearing in seconds. The petite omega could only continue to take lungful breaths, body shaking and head pounding.

As his body came down from the high of the adrenaline rush, he felt a tugging in his head, blurring his vision and making his body feel lightweight. As his mind was starting to drift away into nothingness, he saw a familiar black wolf fast approaching him; scent finally clicking in his slowing brain. Alpha! Mate! We’re safe now. He let out one last whimper before darkness completely surrounded him.

Pain. Fear. Cold. Cold. Cold. The omega’s limbs were burning, almost as if they were being held against a fire. His head was pounding and his eyes squeezed as if that would help ease the pain. He could feel something heavy on his body, and it was almost as if he couldn’t move his arms or legs. He could smell different aromas around him and it strongly reminded him of the herbs Taehyung would use in the infirmary cabin. Wait, what? Was he in the pack’s infirmary? Wake up! Wake up! As his senses slowly started to reach him, he could hear voices somewhere near him; faint but urgent. He strained to open his eyes, but they felt so heavy and unwilling.

“What was he doing out in the forest so late? Did no one know he was out there?! Why were there no beta guards with him? I can’t believe this happened!” The omega could now easily distinguish whom the voice belonged to and his heart instantly warmed, feeling safe.

“Jeongguk, you need to calm down. Your eyes are turning red again and we can’t have you going into a Rage before Jimin wakes up. He needs you right now.” That sounded an awful lot like Namjoon, one of Jeongguk’s most trusted pack members, not to mention the mate of Jeongguk’s omega older brother, Jin.

The omega, Jimin, could now feel someone touching his face softly, pushing his soft blonde hair out of his eyes. “All of you need to stop yelling. Jimin’s head must be pounding right now due to the hit he took and all of your yelling is not helping. He should be regaining consciousness soon due to the healing I provided for him and I don’t want for him to come back to all this Alpha tension in the air, you hear me?” Tae. His soulmate. If Jimin didn’t currently feel like his head was split open, and his body completely numb, he would have laughed at his best friend for putting the alphas in their place.

“After all of this is over and my mate is healthy and safe in my arms, I will wreak havoc on this pack until I figure out who could have possibly even dared to lay a hand on my mate. And they will pay. I will not stop until I find the bastard.” Multiple sighs could be heard around the room and the alpha simply snarled in response.

Jimin could feel his alpha coming closer to him, the scent of pine wood and winter becoming stronger, as he felt a heavy body taking place next to him and felt a hand holding the left side of his face, caressing him softly. His body instantly felt warmer and the chill in his bones went away as if it never existed.

“Open your eyes Jiminie. Please, kitten, open your eyes,” Jeongguk pleaded, and Jimin would do anything for him. Anything in the world, but apparently opening his eyes was asking for too much. “Gosh, you’re still so cold. Jimin, please be okay. Omega open your eyes for me.”

Jimin could feel the touch of his alpha, his eyes finally starting to open but instantly closing due to the brightness around him, even though they only had oil lamps to light their cabins. He felt a shift next to him, and soon Jeongguk’s nose was pressed to his neck, thoroughly scenting him and continuously begging him to wake. Jimin instantly felt his nerves come alive and his cheeks burned with the new realization that Jeongguk was full blown scenting him in front of their friends.

His eyes fully opened then, and he came to realize the he was actually at his and Jeongguk’s cabin, and not the infirmary. His eyes searched their room, and came across a couple of his close friends surrounding him and looking relieved, although still slightly concerned. Namjoon, Jin, Yoongi, Hoseok, and Taehyung were all present in the room with him, giving him a sense of calmness he didn’t know he needed.

Jimin slowly started to sit, but was held back by a very relieved Jeongguk, whom continued to scent him shamelessly. The alpha held onto him strongly, as if he never wanted to let go, and Jimin’s heart warmed once again. His head was still pounding and his limbs felt a little heavy, his body completely fatigued. He was trying to remember what had happened after he had gone searching for the cloves and fennels that Joyeon had recommended for the nausea he had been experiencing lately. He should have known to wait until morning to go searching. Wolf! Run! Run! His omega stirred inside him, restless and scared at the memory.

Jeongguk hugged him tighter, and released calming pheromones as he could sense the panic and fear in Jimin’s omega.

“I don’t get why anyone would ever want to attack Jimin though. Why would anyone want to go against the Head Alpha? This pack has always been very united, so what changed? Maybe it was a feral wolf and no one from the pack?” Namjoon continued to question. And now that Jimin thought of it, the wolf’s scent didn’t smell like one he recognized from the pack.

Jeongguk growled next to Jimin’s ear, buried his nose more into his neck, and took deep breaths in before planting his lips right at his mate’s bite mark. Jimin let out a small gasp at the glorious feeling, once again his cheeks immediately burning at his response in front of others.

“It was an alpha, Joon. I can still smell his disgusting scent on my mate no matter how much I try to erase it. I don’t recognize it being from the pack, but it was most definitely an alpha.” Jeongguk let out, his voiced muffled from where his head was submerged in Jimin’s neck. Jimin’s skin shivered.

Yoongi, an alpha and another one of Jeongguk’s trusted pack mates, came forward. “Guk, if what we are suggesting is true, then we have to secure the borders. There may be more feral wolves around rather than the single one that attacked Jimin. We need to secure the omegas in this pack—”

“Yoongi, love, we can talk about all of this tomorrow morning. For now let’s focus on Jimin. I’m sure he’s still scared and a little jittery from what happened, and he hasn’t fully recovered yet. Jiminie, I’m so glad you’ve woken up already. How are you feeling?” Taehyung was seated next to him on a chair, and he brought his hands forward to examine his head.

“I feel so much better, if just a little cold. And tired. Sleepy.” At hearing this, the alpha already on him wrapped himself completely around Jimin, his legs swinging on top of his body, wanting to be his personal blanket. Jimin chuckled at his alpha’s behavior but accepted the alpha body blanket wholeheartedly. “Mine,” he could hear the alpha mumble into his neck, only loud enough for him to hear.

“How’s your head? Still hurting?” Tae had gone full healer mode, but Jimin knew his soulmate was just worried crazy about him.

“Yeah it hurts a bit, but nothing rest can’t heal,” Jimin assured him. His friends and family, especially the alpha currently swarming his entire body at this point, could all be such worry warts, but he loved them anyway.

“OK, ok. Now that Jimin is awake, we should probably leave him to rest. We will ask him all the questions tomorrow when he has had a chance to heal better. Head Omega, we wish you a good rest.” Jin, whom had surprisingly been quiet this whole time with his arms wrapped around Namjoon’s bicep, started pushing the others out of the cabin, including Tae whom only let out a slight grunt in disagreement. “Brother, please don’t do anything rash before morning all right? Take care of your omega.” And then they were alone.

Mine,” Jimin could still hear Jeongguk murmur into his ear, almost as if the alpha forgot there were other people in the cabin and the only one whom existed in his world was Jimin. He brought his hand over Jeongguk’s head, his fingers finding purchase in his soft dark brown hair, caressing his scalp as if the alpha was the one that needed the reassurance.

His alpha was beyond handsome, sharp facial features but deep warm brown eyes that consumed Jimin’s entire soul when he gazed into them. Those brown eyes would often turn red when the alpha would find himself staring at Jimin a little too long and want and desire would overtake his features, scent pungent and so delicious it would make Jimin’s limbs weak. His entire body would come alive, burning under his alpha’s stare, his omega stirring inside him, ready to be thrown into the throes of passion.

Jimin couldn’t help but start to think about how all this started. Jeon Jimin was originally from the Park pack, a village just Northeast from where the Jeon pack lived now. He was the only son of the Head Alpha and Omega of the Park pack, having then presented as one of the very few male omegas when he turned 19.

His parents were beyond grateful, as having a male omega was a rare blessing. Male omegas were known to be a delicacy, their scents stronger than typical omegas, and although it was often harder for them to conceive, once they were bred and considered to be with pups, their offspring were often stronger and more fertile than most other pups. Male omegas were considered a perfect position for Head Omega, as this would guarantee strong and healthy heirs to Head Alphas and their packs.

When it was known that Jimin presented as a male omega, he had a lot of suitors from alphas in other packs, and even Head Alphas in search of a qualified mate to help run their packs.

Jimin had always been a romantic at heart, so he didn’t want to mate for the sake of running a pack and having a healthy heir while making peace treaties in between packs, and surprisingly his parents were never against him mating for love. All the alphas that sought after him didn’t spark that interest in him and he often hoped that one day his destined alpha would find him.

On one devastating late afternoon, one Jimin wishes he could forget, a pack of feral wolves attacked the Park village while their alphas were out hunting and left completely vulnerable. The feral wolves were merciless in their blunder, killing betas and omegas in their wake, and leaving nothing behind.

Jimin had been out in the nearby forest collecting herbs for their infirmary when he heard the screams of women and children coming from the village, the smell of fire attacking his nostrils. He had immediately ran back to the village, coming to discover the entire village up in flames, with bodies scattered all over the floor. Mother! He looked around desperately for any body he could recognize as his mother, coming to a halt when he reached whatever was left of their family cabin.

The smoke in the air was making him cough, his lungs struggling to take a breath, and his eyes were tearing up at the burn coming off the flames surrounding him. His heart was hammering against his chest and he was having a hard time understanding what was going on around him, almost as if he were dissociating.

In the distance he could still hear the feral wolves howling around him, prowling around to see what other kill they could make. Jimin instantly froze in fear, and everything after that happened so fast. Before his mind could register what was going on, he felt a body hit him from the side, a scent of pine wood and winter so strong in contrast to the surrounding flames.

“You need to leave! The feral wolves are still searching your village and if they find you here they will not hesitate to kill you.” Jimin was having a hard time seeing who was speaking above him, body flushed completely against him, but vision completely blurry. He tried to get the other off of him, arms swinging but not really budging the body on top of him. It was very clear the other was an alpha by his scent, but Jimin was having a hard time recognizing if he was from the Park pack or not. The omega started whimpering in despair, hopes of finding his parents alive seeming so distant as time ticked by.

The unknown alpha responded to his cry, finally getting off Jimin and immediately pulling the omega to his feet. Jimin’s vision cleared a bit, and he came into contact with a tall, and annoyingly handsome, man with the most calming chocolate brown eyes he had ever seen. Said alpha was looking at him worried, for a reason Jimin didn’t know, since he didn’t look familiar enough to belong to the Park pack. “Listen omega, we need to leave this village before the wolves smell us out and come after us. There is nothing left here to salvage. I’m very sorry for what happened to your people, but if you want to get out of this alive, you need to come with me.”

Jimin was very hesitant, hands pushing the alpha away and attempting to run, but the alpha had a firm grip on him. “Let me go! You’re probably one of them! I need to go find my pack’s alphas so they can help—”

“They’re dead. I was currently out hunting when I heard the alphas from your pack getting attacked by feral wolves out in the forest. They were surrounded, outnumbered, and completely caught off guard. They fought valiantly. But they never stood a chance, your alphas were gone before they even attacked the village! I immediately ran over here to try and protect the children, but it seems I was too late. You’re the only one I’ve seen alive. Please, come with me.” The unfamiliar alpha was looking at Jimin as if he was going to lose it if Jimin didn’t come with him this instant. And then Jimin felt it.

A pull. A pull so strong it took his breath away. Alpha! Mate! His omega instantly came alive and Jimin knew; knew this alpha was going to be his salvation.

After his friends had left the cabin, it was as if Jeongguk came alive. “Jimin, kitten, please my beautiful omega, what happened? I can’t seem to stop thinking back into how I found you, there, freezing and hurt, all by yourself without anyone to protect you. I can’t stand it knowing I wasn’t there. Please baby, tell me you’re not in pain—”

His voice sounded so broken, and helpless, and Jimin didn’t like it one bit. He shifted towards his side, wanting to look Jeongguk in the eye as he reassured him that it wasn’t his fault. He noticed the alpha looked distraught, clearly angry at himself for having his omega hurt and not being able to do anything about it. Jimin understood the feeling, but he wanted to ease Jeongguk’s mind.

“Alpha, Guk, please don’t feel bad about this. You can be angry, yes, but at the wolf who chased me, not yourself. I love you so much and I was so scared—”

Jeongguk once again came to rest his face on Jimin’s neck, making sure that Jimin was here, with him, safe. “I don’t know what happened Jeongguk—one minute I’m collecting cloves, and the next I smell a wolf approaching, and before I know it, it’s giving me chase. I tried to run back to the village right away, but for some reason I apparently went more into the forest than I thought and—”

“Why did you go in there by yourself, love? You know you can always take some of the beta guards with you, you’re the Head Omega and I swear if something happens to you—” The alpha was getting riled up and Jimin couldn’t help but bring his hands forward to grasp the alpha’s face, quietly murmuring that it was okay, he was safe now.

Jeongguk tilted his face towards the omega’s caress, and proceeded to place a few kisses on his hand, slowly ascending his arm until he got to omega’s collarbone, where he gave one soft kiss before he started nipping with his teeth. Jimin felt his body burn at his alpha’s ministrations, and he couldn’t help but tilt his head in submission, his mating mark coming to full display.

Jeongguk growled at the clear display of submission, and he started kissing along Jimin’s neck, approaching that sensitive spot on the omega’s neck that drove Jimin crazy with pleasure. The omega was releasing soft mewls, clearly enjoying the attention he was given. “You’re mine omega. I can’t bear the thought of another touching you, smelling you—you were made for me. Only I can see you like this.”

“Only you Alpha, please,” Jimin was panting, ears and cheeks burning, while pleasure overtook his entire body. Jeongguk detached himself from Jimin’s neck and was about to take Jimin’s jacket off when there was a harsh knock on their door. The door to their cabin was then smacked open before Jeongguk even had the chance to get up, and a very-out-of-breath Namjoon stood at the entrance.

“Jeongguk, you’re gonna want to see this.”

Jeongguk didn’t know what to expect when Namjoon came knocking at their door, but it certainly wasn’t this. After getting over the minor annoyance that Joon had interrupted his favorite time of day—really any time that Jimin was in his arms—he quickly kissed the omega on the lips and Jimin almost, almost begged him to stay. Jimin’s cheeks were red and Jeongguk fought back cooing at his omega’s embarrassment in getting caught in such a compromising situation. Cute.

Namjoon led him towards the main village cabin, a place where alphas, betas, and omegas would often gather to feast or hang out when they were off duty. He could see quite a crowd of people near the cabin entrance, and as they approached closer he could now hear hasty whispering in between the villagers, hands over their mouths and wide eyes, as if they couldn’t quite believe what they were seeing.

Their full attention was on someone that stood in the center of the circle, his loud voice apparent and very, very drunk. When a young beta named Moeyang saw Jeongguk and Namjoon approaching, she quickly yelled out for everyone to make way for the Head Alpha. What is going on? The alpha in Jeongguk stirred, almost as if it could already sense something going awry.

The crowd of people moved apart, and a very drunk and flushed alpha, Minho, was left standing there, swaying a little but with still some energy left in him. He hadn’t noticed the crowd of people had fallen silent and continued on loudly describing his nightly endeavors. “I showed that omega—wooo he smelled so divine I wanted to eat ‘im up entirely and leave nothingggg behind for anyone else to taste. He was shaking and—" Minho was very obviously drunk, his words slightly slurred and his body stumbling a little. He nearly tripped over his own foot in his obnoxious storytelling, so he sat down and laid back on one of the stairs leading up to the main cabin; perched there without a care in the world. “I’ve always wanted to make that omega mine—”

Suddenly the scent of something smokey hit the Head Alpha’s nose, just a slight tinge overwhelmed by the smell of alcohol. And everything happened so fast.

One minute Minho was laying against the stairs, and the next he was being hauled up and thrown in the air, body harshly hitting the hard ground and the sounds of bones breaking clear in the night air. The crowd of people around them yelled and stepped back, scared of the sudden turn of events.

All that Jeongguk saw was red. He grabbed Minho off the floor by his neck and immediately started pummeling his face in. Punch after punch was delivered without mercy. Minho’s face was slowly losing recognition, blood and dirt covering his entire face as Jeongguk continued to deliver blows.

Minho grabbed onto the Head Alpha’s arm, the one keeping a tight hold on his neck, in attempts of setting himself free before the alpha finished him off. He was slowly losing consciousness, and he could no longer feel his face. Everything burned.

“You bastard! How dare you lay your filthy hands on my mate!” Punch. “I’m going to crush you until there won’t be anything left for the scavengers to feed off of you!” Punch. “You disgusting piece of—” Something, or someone, suddenly collided with Jeongguk, throwing his body to the side, and then placing their full weight on top of the Head Alpha in attempts to cage him in.

Jeongguk was completely caught off guard, his head suddenly becoming more clear and his blood rushing back to his body, the adrenaline he was in taking his breath away. The alpha’s eyes were a dark red, mouth growling, and body taut as he sprang for Minho again, just to be held back by the large body on top of him. Namjoon.

“Jeongguk you need to calm down! We’ve got it all wrong!” he yelled in Jeongguk’s ear, hoping that he would get through to the alpha in his bout of Rage. “Listen to me! It wasn’t Minho!”

Jeongguk let out a large growl, and struggled in Namjoon’s hold, desperate to continue disfiguring Minho’s face for touching what wasn’t Minho’s but his. The crowd of villagers that had continued to build around them all bowed their heads low, their Head Alpha’s growl making them submit unintentionally. Even Namjoon was struggling to continue to hold him down, his wolf disapproving in defying their Head Alpha, but he knew how to get through to Jeongguk more than anyone else. Well, everyone except Jimin.

Deep down Namjoon knew that he was getting through to the enraged alpha because if Jeongguk had actually been in Rage, he would have thrown Namjoon away from him in a heartbeat. And Minho would be dead.

Jeongguk’s breaths came in heavy pants, his eyes now bordering between red and brown, while his growls lessened in intensity. Minho was silent and unmoving on the floor, and that’s when Jeongguk snapped out of his enraged stupor, enough to realize what had happened, and unsure whether his moment of violent anger was justified or not. “Namjoon you better have a really good reason for having stopped me or I swear—”

“Look around you Guk. You’re scaring your people. Calm down please,” Namjoon said from above him, and after realizing Jeongguk had stopped struggling, he got off him, although still warily.

Jeongguk noticed that the crowd of people, mainly betas and omegas, were now all staring at him with hesitation in their eyes, but underneath the slight fear, there was a hint of respect. Jeongguk knew that he might have acted irrationally, heading straight to violence, but he knew the village all loved and respected Jimin, and they were also disturbed with what had happened to the Head Omega.

He turned to where Minho now lay unmoving. He could tell he was still alive, the now bloodied alpha’s chest rising up and down slowly, but present nonetheless. Jeongguk’s alpha stirred inside him again, the scent earlier having triggered something in him, that he fought extremely hard not to jump on Minho again and finish him off.

“Guk, I’m sorry if I might have mislead you to thinking Minho is the culprit, but when I heard about him telling everyone in the village and causing a fuss about having touched some omega in his drunken state from Yeosang, I just assumed as much as you.” Jeongguk scoffed. Keep your alpha in control Jeongguk. Be reasonable. “But, I can’t help but think that we’re assuming too much, too fast. Some betas are saying they saw Minho drinking early this evening, and that he disappeared for a while, but no one actually saw him going into the forest.”

“Yeah well no one saw Jimin going into the forest either! It could still be him!” Jeongguk fought back. Honestly, something in Jeongguk couldn’t help but think it was Minho. Minho being the culprit made sense. That alpha had always made it known to everyone that he finds Jimin attractive and he had even tried courting the male omega desperately when Jimin had initially arrived at the Jeon pack after being saved by Jeongguk.

Luckily, Jimin had stuck to Jeongguk like glue after their arrival. His period of mourning was spent with Jeongguk, his cries soothed by the alpha stranger, and the Head Alpha became extremely protective of the male omega in record time. Jeongguk remembers it all so clear as if it happened yesterday. When Jeongguk had seen those Park alphas getting surrounded and attacked by a feral wolf pack while he was out hunting, he knew he needed to go find their pack grounds in attempt to warn the others to seek safety.

What he wasn’t expecting to find was an entire village on fire, bodies of betas and omegas, children, all scattered on the floor, slaughtered without mercy. Just when he was about to flee, having heard the howls of feral wolves still nearby, he saw him. An omega so beautiful he had to blink several times to make sure the angel wasn’t just an illusion. The male omega was petite, his body filled out in all the right places, hair a soft silky blonde so beautiful he wanted to run his fingers through it, and eyes and lips that could lure just about anyone in.

But the omega was distressed, his body crumpled in itself, and those beautiful eyes filled with tears. He looked so lost, and everything in Jeongguk told him he needed to save this omega or else he would spend his life regretting it. His alpha knew all along that he was with his intended mate as soon as it laid eyes on the angelic being. And therefore, he brought him home, a place that would soon become their safe haven, where they could love each other for years to come.

Minho had always sought the omega even when Jimin made it clear that he wasn’t interested in anyone but Jeongguk. The whole village thought Minho’s situation was quite unfortunate, seeing as the heart can’t choose whom it wants, but they also knew that the love that Jimin and Jeongguk held for each other came once in a lifetime. Minho had always ultimately respected Jimin’s wishes, but kept hoping that Jimin would eventually choose him when he finally mated.

Jeongguk, on the other hand, felt jealous and angered at Minho’s persistence sometimes, that he couldn’t help but warn the other to stay away from the omega, even though Jimin wasn’t his mate at the time. When the pair eventually actually mated, Minho stepped back and tried moving on, but rumors around the village always spread that Minho still aspired to obtain the Head Omega in the future, still as obsessed as ever in his pursuit.

Jeongguk thinks that is why it’s likely his alpha got triggered in this current situation; it was as if he finally had a reason, his anger and jealousy justified, to attack the other. At that thought, the alpha in him awoke once again, but he clenched his eyes and willed it to calm down. “Who else could it have been? He’s wanted Jimin for a long time! Who knows, maybe he finally snapped!” he argued.

Jeongguk then realized that Yoongi and Hoseok had joined the circle of villagers, and were briefly taking in the situation, shoulders set and eyes observant in case they would need to protect the Head Alpha. Not that he needed any protecting anyway.

When he turned to look at Minho again he saw Taehyung kneeling next to the alpha, feeling for his pulse and assessing the damage. “He’s alive, but he needs to be brought to the infirmary. His pulse is slowing and he’s in severe need of fluids or else he’ll go into shock.” Taehyung stood and motioned for some of the betas that were standing near him to grab Minho so they could take him to the healing cabin.

The crowd of villagers made way for the two beta males that picked Minho up and hoisted him on one of their backs, making way towards the infirmary. Taehyung quickly followed behind and Yeosang, another very talented beta healer and the reason why this whole fiasco even started, stepped out of the crowd to go help Taehyung out. He looked at Jeongguk in slight shame. “I’m sorry about what occurred—” Well he’s not. Not really. Focus Jeongguk!

“I just told Namjoon because it seemed like helpful information considering the circumstances, but maybe I guided you in the wrong direction. We’ll make sure to it that Minho recovers.” Jeongguk nodded and dismissed the beta.

Jeongguk, now with Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hoseok at his side, cleared his throat and addressed the crowd. “I apologize for the fear I might have caused and the violence you had to endure in this situation, but I’m sure you understand the reason behind my actions.” Jeongguk tried not to let his anger show as he recalled the reason why he lost all sanity earlier.

“As you all probably already know, the Head Omega was attacked a while earlier today while he was out hunting for herbs in the forest. As I’m sure you also know that this behavior is considered treason. Someone went against pack rules and attempted to betray their Alpha leader, me, by going after my mate, whom is also your leader and above you, deserving full respect and loyalty.” The crowd was in full attention now, awaiting the Head Alpha’s jurisdiction.

“Since Minho is our first potential suspect due to his blatant confession of attacking an omega in his idiotic drunken state, he is considered guilty until proven otherwise. He will be held in the infirmary cabin until he can get properly questioned. Maybe then we can get some answers. Meanwhile I want this pack to report any activity that is seen as suspicious and my right-hand men as well as the beta guards will be searching the forest grounds in case there is a potential feral wolf pack roaming around.” At this piece of information the villagers gasped in fear. Jeongguk immediately felt the need to assure and protect his pack.

“Do not worry. We will see to it that you are all protected and I will discover who went against me and my mate, and you won’t like the consequences.”

Jin had come to Jeongguk and Jimin’s cabin as soon as Namjoon had told him the situation going down at the main village cabin. Jeongguk is going to be so pissed! Please don’t let him do anything stupid. The male omega couldn’t help but worry about his sometimes-very-irrational younger brother. And to think it was Minho whom had attacked Jimin…god, he hopes the hot-headed Head Alpha doesn’t end up killing him. Well if it was him, then he deserves his rightful punishment.

Jimin was still curled in bed when Jin had entered the cozy cabin. The petite omega immediately sat up, worry clear in his eyes. “Jin hyung, what is going on? Why did Namjoon come grab Jeongguk in the middle of the night? Which by the way, he totally interrupted—”

“Yeah, yeah, you and Jeongguk were probably already getting it on, but apparently they might already have the alpha who attacked you.” Jimin’s eyes widened at the news spilling from the older omega’s lips.

“What? Are you serious? Who is it?” Jimin started visibly shaking again, and Jin came to his side to sit on the empty space that used to hold a certain crazy alpha. He reached his arms around the small omega, and started to run his fingers through Jimin’s hair, instantly soothing the younger. No wonder Jeongguk was crazy about Jimin’s hair, it’s so soft. Jin had always been protective of Jimin as well, because there was no one else in the world he cared more for than Jeongguk, and Jimin was Jeongguk’s world.

“They think it’s Minho. Apparently he’s drunk and telling everyone he basically attacked an omega—”

Jimin quickly turned to look at Jin, completely surprised. “Minho? I-I don’t think-I refuse to believe Minho did it. Yeah, he likes me, but I don’t think he would ever—”

Jin scoffed at Jimin’s rebuttal. His innocence baffled the older sometimes. “Jimin you know that Minho is totally capable of doing so. He hasn’t been subtle about it.”

“But, I don’t know, this wolf was different. He was evil. And yeah, Minho has a smokey scent, very similar I would say, but this wolf still smelled different. Like nothing I’ve smelled before. Besides, I’ve seen Minho in his wolf form plenty of times and I think I would have recognized it being him.”

“Yeah well let’s hope he ain’t dead by now. You already know Jeongguk has never liked him. I can’t imagine what he’s thinking right now.”

Jimin sighed and curled back into Jin’s embrace. “Hyung, Jeongguk might be the most overprotective alpha I have ever seen, but he still knows what is right and wrong. Minho isn’t dead. Period.”

Jin cracked a laugh. “Well he probably got close to it I bet. Jiminie, you forget I’ve known Jeongguk my whole life, I basically raised him. You don’t want to get Jeongguk mad. He can be quite scary when he protects those he loves. And you my dear Jiminie, are the one he loves most.”

Jimin blushed even though he knew Jin was only teasing him. “Stop hyung. He loves you more.”

“Well obviously, since I’m perfect, but hey I wanted to share the title you know? I’m generous like that.” Jimin burst out in giggles. Jin always made him feel better, no matter the situation.

“Now tell me my sweet Jiminie, why were you out in the forest all by yourself? And near dark? That doesn’t sound like something you would do.”

“I know, hyung. And I honestly regret it so bad, but I was desperate. I’ve been having this terrible nausea every time I eat, and even when I don’t, so as soon as I heard Joyeon mentioning that she knew of some herbs that could help ease it, I had to go get them. Gosh, hyung, I’m so stupid.”

Jin shushed the small omega, reassuring him that he was not stupid in the least. “Nausea? Jimin, since when have you been feeling this way?”

Jimin paused in thought, and Jin could see the wheels turning in Jimin’s head. “Ummm, pretty much a little while after my last heat I think. And hyung, it’s so bad. I can’t seem to keep much of anything down and I’ve pretty much lost my appetite because of it. I haven’t told Guk because you already know how he is. He’s going to want to travel everywhere to find the best nausea medicine and that’s dangerous for him hyung, so please don’t tell him—”

“Jimin, you’re pregnant.”

It was as if all the air in the room had been sucked in. Jimin sat frozen in Jin’s arms and Jin was worried he might have actually broken the small omega. Oh god, is he in shock?

He looked at Jimin, who seemed to be in a daze, and just as he was about to slap the younger omega out of his stupor, he saw the Head Omega’s small hand reach for his own lower belly, and a large smile overtook his features. Suddenly everything gushed out of Jimin it nearly gave Jin whiplash.

“Are you sure? How do you know? Oh my god, I cannot believe this. We hadn’t really been trying for pups yet, but Jeongguk got really crazy with this past heat and knotted me multiple times and man, it felt good, and now that I think of it I think he went into rut—”

“Woah! TMI Jiminie! I don’t want to know about my baby brother’s sexual abilities thank you very much. Ugh, my virgin ears are bleeding! My poor innocent mind can’t take this—”

Jimin pushed the older omega playfully, but winced as he noticed his head was very much in fact still injured. “Shut up hyung! We all know you and Namjoon are shameless in bed!”

“Now now, Jiminie this isn’t about Namjoon and I. Leave us out of your kinky sexual life. Back to important matters now. Have you noticed a change in your scent? Has Jeongguk mentioned anything lately?”

Jimin immediately blushed. “Well…he has mentioned how I have smelled sweeter recently, a richer and heavier scent…but I thought he was just seducing me! You know, trying to spice up our love life—"

Jin rolled his eyes. “I’m sure you all need to ‘spice up’ your sex life. I can’t imagine how much more spicy it can get.” Jimin almost laughed at Jin’s sarcasm, but he was more surprised he was talking so openly about this with his mate’s older brother. You have no shame omega, no shame.

“He’s been super attached lately, extra protective, and extremely horny. All. The. Time. Do you think that could be a sign?” Now that Jin had told the younger about the possibility of him being pregnant, he couldn’t stop touching his belly, already picturing himself with a bump, even though right now there was nothing but a lean lower abdomen.

“If I had to guess, I would say I’m 95.30% sure you are pregnant. Before you deliver the news to Jeongguk, though, go with Taehyung so he can test you. Then we can know for sure. Although, I have to say you have all the signs and symptoms. Congrats Jiminie, you’re going to be great Papa.” Jin wiped the tears that had started to form in Jimin’s eyes. Tears of joy. Oh baby brother, if you only knew how lucky you are.

Jimin suddenly gasped and sat up, tears taking a sudden turn, and fear displaying on the once joyful omega’s face. “Hyung! I could have lost my pup tonight! What if the wolf would have gotten to me? What if I had fallen off the ravine or Jeongguk wouldn’t have gotten there on time? Hyung, I can’t imagine…no, no. Wait, is the pup okay right now? What if I fell too hard—”

Jin immediately hugged the younger, assuring him that the pup was okay. That he did his job as omega in protecting the pup currently inside him, and that if the pup wasn’t okay they would have already known. He allowed the petite male to quietly lull himself to sleep, tears already drying on his face. As soon as he was sure Jimin was asleep, he laid him back down on the bed, and put him under the warm covers.

“I hope it won’t be too long for Jeongguk to return. Meanwhile I’ll stay here to keep watch over you.” After all he was now also watching over his nephew or niece. Jin smiled as he continued to observe Jimin for a while longer, the smaller omega deep in sleep and now dreaming of who knows what. Whatever it was, it certainly brought a smile to his face.

The wolf stood outside one of the windows of the Head Jeon’s cabin, body completely hidden in between the bushes outside, peeking in through enough to observe the omega on the bed. His dark red eyes are the only thing that could give him away, red orbs glinting in the dark night.

Jin, the Head Alpha’s older omega brother, was sitting on a couch near the bed, watching the omega dearly. The older omega really had no clue what kind of predator was ready to pounce outside, even their home no longer truly safe. The deranged wolf’s eyes went back to the beautiful omega on the bed, eyes taking in as much as they could, and desire running through his veins. I’m coming for you omega. Jimin, you belong to me and I’m eventually going to collect. What. Is. MINE.

Chapter Text

When Jimin wakes the next morning the first thing he notices is that he can’t breathe. His crusty eyes open, the bright sunlight coming in through the window shortly blinding him, and notices that there is a large being on top of him. The body above him shifts, and a strong scent of pine wood in a delicious winter wafts into his fresh nose. A smile curls on his lips instantly, heart warming and body tingling, but why is this alpha so damn heavy?!

Jimin lets out a cute whine. “Alpha, I can’t breathe with you hogging me like this. You do realize you weigh like a ton—”

The alpha on top of him quickly turns his head, apparently very much awake already, and looks at Jimin, eyes wide in offense and disbelief, although Jimin was sure Jeongguk was only pretending to be offended. His slight grin kind of gave it away. “Are you calling me fat?!” the alpha said in mock offense.

Jimin giggled at his alpha’s child-like behavior. “And what if I am? What are you going do about it?” Now, Jimin was well aware he was playing a dangerous game. He was poking a bear on its belly and the bear was eventually going to fight back. Probably ten-fold.

Jeongguk’s demeanor changed in a second, his eyes darkening, and Jimin would have been scared if he didn’t notice the slight playful deviousness in the dark brown orbs. The scent in the air got thicker and Jimin tried extremely hard not to whimper at the delicious smell of his very, very hot and sexy alpha. He felt a deep hot desire pooling in his gut, and he couldn’t believe that Jeongguk could still unravel him so easily.

Jeongguk smirked at the omega’s clear arousal, proud that he could unleash such a response from the petite male from simply his scent. His eyes ravished the gorgeous omega under him, the other already visibly getting worked up, the smell of honey vanilla meshing with the pine. No, this scent was even sweeter, nearly driving the alpha insane. “Well first of all, I’m heavy with muscle. This body that I’ve worked so hard for with my labor, this body that would be your personal shield if needed, protecting you, and certainly this body that can please you in so many ways you won’t even remember your name, omega, and you love it. Don’t you kitten?”

Jimin moaned under him, eyes looking away and cheeks reddening in embarrassment at being able to be read like a damn book, but feeling a desire so intense that he wanted the alpha to stop taunting him already and just take him.

“Look at me omega.” Jeongguk demanded. Slowly their eyes locked. The alpha’s demeanor had changed, his eyes blazing bright red. This only happened with extreme emotions, like anger or in this case, lust. Air caught in Jimin’s throat, Jeongguk’s expression flaming the desire circling around his stomach. Suddenly the alpha’s hands gripped the sides of his face, drawing the lithe male towards him, touching his forehead to the other. Jimin felt the alpha’s breath tickle his lips.

“Why do I lose all sanity with you?” the taller whispered, so low Jimin barely heard him. “You got me wrapped around your tiny, tiny little finger. Do you understand the kind of power you have over me Jimin? I don’t want anything to ever happen to you, kitten.”

Jimin’s heart jackhammered against his ribs, breaths shallow. His skin tingled every place it touched. The need for the handsome alpha consumed every nerve and made it hard to move or think. Jeongguk’s skin glistened above him, and Jimin unconsciously reached out, his fingers working on their own as they trailed up his neck, slipping over his sharp chin and stopping at his lips. The omega squeezed his eyes shut as the tip of his finger slowly traced the other’s lips. “I know.”

A rumble came from Jeongguk’s chest, and Jimin lifted his eyes to look into the alpha’s. Need etched deep in Jeongguk’s pupils, mirroring Jimin’s own. The alpha’s hand slipped into Jimin’s hair, tilting his head. The heat between their mouths increased as they moved in closer. Then they moved at the same time.

Jeongguk’s hands gripped at Jimin’s hips and spread the omega’s legs with his body, pushing up into him. His fingers curled over Jimin’s jaw and he drew the other’s mouth to his. The moment their lips met, the air around them combusted, sending white-hot energy into their chest and limbs. Jeongguk’s mouth was desperate, his lips demanding, teeth sinking into Jimin’s plump and soft lower lip. Heat traveled down Jimin’s spine and between his legs, the omega gasping at the feeling. Jimin glided his fingers through Jeongguk’s dark brown hair, pulling him closer. Always closer.

Jeongguk’s tongue slipped past his lips and a moan erupted from the omega’s throat. The alpha’s response was immediate, fingers digging further into Jimin’s scalp, drawing the petite male further in. Their kisses went from needy to frantic. Jeongguk grabbed the bottom of Jimin’s thin shirt and whipped it over his head, inciting Jimin to do the same. Jimin’s hands and eyes took in the alpha’s chest and ripped abs. Heavy with muscle indeed. One by one Jimin undid the buttons of Jeongguk’s pants, letting them fall to his ankles, before Jeongguk gave them a toss as well.

The omega’s hands were unrelentless in their exploring, tips of his fingers never leaving Jeongguk’s skin, traveling over the other’s wide shoulders and strong back, finally stopping at his ass. Why was this alpha so sexy? It wasn’t fair! “You like what you see kitten? Hmm? Enjoy feeling me up?” the alpha growled, and Jimin whined at being so needy and obvious.

“It’s my turn omega. And I’m greedy,” Jeongguk proceeded to strip Jimin completely naked, tossing his clothes somewhere behind him, and then got rid of his own underwear. Jimin’s eyes widened as he was reminded of just how big the alpha was, and he tried not to let out a moan at the thought of it being inside him. He threw his head back against the pillow, body squirming, with the intense need for what was to come. Jeongguk didn’t leave him much time to anticipate further as he spread Jimin out, hand skating over his skin, leaving trails of quivers in their wake.

The alpha moved his lips up Jimin’s thigh, until his tongue found its way towards his most sensitive spot, the junction between his groin and lower belly. Jimin gasped as the other nipped and kissed him. His mouth sucking so hard Jimin was sure there were going to be bruises. “Oh my god—Jeongguk. Alpha, I need you now,” the omega mewled, fist clutching at the alpha’s hair. “Please, alpha.”

Jeongguk’s tongue traveled slowly up his chest, teasingly slow, leaving kisses and nips as he went. He latched on to Jimin’s left nipple, sucking and biting, tongue relentless, and Jimin’s back arched with the intense pleasure. Jeongguk grinned at the omega’s clear response to his manipulations, stopped abusing the poor nipple, just to latch on to the other. Jimin was releasing some of the most arousing moans the alpha had ever heard, and it increased his piercing desire for the beautiful omega. “Look at you baby, coming undone so easily with my kisses. I’m going to devour you kitten. You are mine.”

Jimin felt his slick starting to pool at his entrance, trailing down his inner thighs, and the fire in his gut only consumed him more. Jeongguk growled when the scent of slick wafted to his nose, want and desire making him go a little insane. Their breaths were quick as the alpha’s fingers moved down between Jimin’s legs, one finger immediately entering him, making the omega gasp in pleasure. Jeongguk had barely touched him, and Jimin’s nails were already burrowed into the alpha’s back. “Alpha please,” Jimin begged, bucking against him. “Just fuck me already, please, I need you.”

Jeongguk hesitated at first, not sure if to listen to the other and not prep him. The last thing he wanted was to hurt his mate. Jimin’s eyes were burning with need, chest raising and falling quickly, while the flush in his cheeks traveled all the way down his body. His beautiful plump lips were bright red, from where the omega had been biting them in pleasure. Jeongguk was a sucker for those lips.

He came forward and kissed Jimin as his finger left the other’s hot cavern, hand instead going to his own cock, positioning it towards the omega’s entrance. The alpha’s kisses were hot and passionate, tongue slipping into the other’s mouth, exploring the omega fully. He then slipped into Jimin, the angelic omega gasping at the intrusion. There was slight pain as the alpha filled him, going all the way to the hilt, cock engraving his walls, stretching him beyond pleasure. Jeongguk rocked fully outward and forward, stealing another breath from the smaller. Then again. Jimin felt himself tighten around the alpha, and a deep moan erupted from his throat.

“Jimin, baby, you are so perfect—making the most beautiful sounds for me. I can never get enough of you. You drive me insane.” Pleasure so intense flickered through the omega as Jeongguk plunged deeper and deeper into him, their rhythm picking up a delicious pace. Jimin’s legs and nails dug into the alpha. “More alpha, please—ah!.…harder,” the omega could not seem to get close enough, to have enough of the handsome alpha. His perfect mate.

Jeongguk thrust deeper, harder, until Jimin’s eyes leaked with water. He still wanted more. Friction built, creating an even more desperate need for each other. Jeongguk tilted the moaning omega toward him and drove in harder. A cry escaped Jimin as he felt his prostate now getting stimulated and he felt his orgasm nearing. “You’re mine forever omega. Mine. No one else can ever have you like this, desperate for release.” The alpha’s thrusting was unrelentless and Jimin’s vision was starting to go hazy from the constant pressure on his prostate, bringing him immense pleasure.

“Alpha.. I’m going to cum… oh my god, you feel so good inside me…please alpha I want your knot—ah!” Jimin was a mewling and moaning mess, words incoherent as the alpha continued to thrust into him so deliciously. His eyes could no longer focus nor could he breathe. Jimin heard Jeongguk growling, and he pushed the omega’s bent leg toward his shoulder. The movement tipped the alpha in farther, and with one more deep thrust Jimin’s back arched off the bed, eyes rolling back, as white burst behind his eyelids and he came. Hard. White cum spouted out of the omega’s cock, cum landing all over his chest and abdomen.

Jeongguk continued driving into the petite omega and Jimin’s eyes watered with the overstimulation. The alpha’s thrusts were starting to slow, grinding deeply instead, and Jimin felt the alpha’s knot forming. The omega felt so full, knot starting to stretch him even further, making Jimin’s head swirl as he was lost to painful pleasure. The knot caught on his rim every time Jeongguk would grind harder, in and out, causing rippling hot pleasure in Jimin’s entire body. The omega felt the impending arrival of yet another orgasm, the knot driving him insane with overstimulation.

Jeongguk was growling and Jimin was moaning so loudly now, that he would be surprised if the others in the village didn’t hear him. “I love you Jimin. You’re mine forever.” Jeongguk suddenly came forward, mouth reaching Jimin’s neck and teeth latching onto the omega’s mating mark. Both exploded at once, Jeongguk growling and hot seed releasing inside the omega, marking his insides, while Jimin came dry. Every breath Jimin took sent another small aftershock through his limbs. He could feel Jeongguk’s cock still spurting cum inside him, knot connecting them now, preventing any cum from spilling out. The omega felt so full and sated.

Jeongguk pulled to his side, making sure not to hurt the omega from where they were connected, and turned Jimin so his back would be facing him, arms coming protectively around the small omega. That way they could be comfortable while they waited for the knot to come down. “Are you ok Jiminie? I wasn’t too rough with you right?” Jeongguk was always scared that he would lose control and end up hurting his mate while he was lost in his headspace. It was just that his omega drove him so crazy. He couldn’t control his alpha sometimes around the other and that scared him.

Jimin smiled at the alpha’s silly question. This alpha worried too much. He turned in the alpha’s arms, careful with the knot, and came face to face with the handsome male, chocolate brown eyes meeting his honey-colored ones. He reached his hand to touch Jeongguk’s face. The other closed his eyes at the feeling, smile forming on his face, and a low rumble sounding in his chest. Jimin couldn’t help giggling, thinking of the stark contrast between this soft, cuddly alpha from the other that just ravished him and made him practically incoherent not even a minute ago.

“You were perfect Jeongguk, as always. I love you so much, Alpha, that I don’t know what to do with all this love sometimes. You have me. Entirely. Always.” Jeongguk smiled at that, pleased that the omega loved him just as much.

The omega reached his hand over his tummy, rubbing it gently. He couldn’t wait to give his mate the news. He was going to be so happy.

Jeongguk met up with Namjoon, Yoongi, and Hoseok after making sure Jimin was informed of last night’s situation. Jimin was slightly upset that he had nearly ended up killing Minho, but he ultimately understood where Jeongguk came from, and he felt it was fair for what Minho had done to another omega. The smaller male argued he would still be paying Minho a visit at the healing cabin, despite the alpha’s worry, since he was sure that Minho hadn’t been the one to attack him. Even though Jeongguk absolutely despised knowing Jimin would be going near a potential suspect in his attack, he knew he wouldn’t be able to convince Jimin otherwise. The omega could be pretty persistent.

“Has Tae said anything about Minho’s condition? How is he doing?” Jeongguk asked, worried the other alpha would not wake soon so they could interrogate him.

“Tae was with him pretty much the entire night, him and Yeosang trying their best to stabilize him before he went into shock. It seems he survived, but Tae says Minho’s body has pretty much shut down and it will probably be a while until he wakes up.” Yoongi answered, while Jeongguk and the others listened carefully, planning their next move.

Jeongguk let out a sigh of frustration. “Ugh, how could I have been so stupid? Now because of my crazy alpha instincts we can’t know exactly what happened, and this does not bring us any closer to whoever attacked Jimin.” He hated knowing that once again his jealousy and anger had gotten the best of him.

“Jeongguk, it’s not your fault. Minho attacked an omega. Period. That’s not permitted in this pack, and you were in your right to punish him for it.” Namjoon interjected.

“Yeah, but do we know that for sure? Has any omega even come forward about being the one attacked by Minho? Has anyone said anything yet?” Jeongguk was grasping at straws, trying to make sense of this entire situation. “What if Minho was lying? Maybe he was just drunk and didn’t realize what he was saying—”

“Guk, why are you suddenly defending him? Do you know something we don’t?” Yoongi asked, always the first suspicious at the alpha’s change in behavior.

“Jimin says it’s not Minho. He told me that Minho might be many things, including being an asshole sometimes, but he would never touch an omega against their will. Whether it be Jimin or another omega. And if Jimin trusts him that much, then I guess I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don’t know guys, something doesn’t feel right about all this.” The alpha was chewing on his lip, nearly drawing blood at how hard he was tugging.

“Well if we aren’t thinking Minho anymore, then what do we do? There’s a deranged alpha out there that is still lurking somewhere and is a danger to the pack.” Hoseok pitched in.

“We’re going to question all the alphas in this pack, make sure it’s no one from inside the pack, and then we are going to do a full sweep of the nearby forest in search of any potential feral wolves. If nothing comes forward, then I’m going to have to suspect Minho again, because he’s the only one that has technically compromised himself. And whether Jimin likes it or not, he could still be the culprit. We can’t let ourselves be so easily blinded.”

“You’re right Guk. If after further searching we see there is literally no one else that can be a suspect, then Minho is our only lead. Let’s just hope that Minho wakes up soon so we can hear his side of the story, if he even remembers what happened that night, so we can start piecing everything together.” Namjoon said, and the Head Alpha was suddenly glad that he had friends he could rely on in hard times like these.

Minho or not, he wasn’t going to stop until he found justice.

Jimin knocked on the door of the infirmary cabin and was met with a very tired looking Taehyung. The taller omega looked like he hadn’t slept all night, and Jimin instantly felt bad in knowing this was partially his fault, well more like Jeongguk’s, that Taehyung had to stay up all night helping Minho.

“Jiminie! How are you? Are you feeling better?” the taller omega asked, and of course he would worry more about Jimin than himself. Tae had always been like that, so loving and selfless.

“I’m feeling much better, thank you. But have you looked at yourself Tae? You look like you’re about to pass out.” Jimin responded. Taehyung quickly stepped to the side and opened the cabin door wide, so Jimin could enter, and they both headed straight to Minho’s bed. Taehyung put his hand to Minho’s forehead, testing out his temperature, before turning to Jimin. “It’s been a long night Minie. I guess I must be tired. But luckily Minho is doing much better.”

Jimin’s brows creased with worry at the other’s condition, not liking to see any of his close friends having a hard time. “Tae, you need to rest. I’m sure Yoongi would appreciate having you go home to sleep. Please, just let me know what I have to do and I can take care of Minho from here.”

In that moment, Yeosang, the beta healer that often helped Tae at the healing cabin, entered through the door. He looked surprised at seeing Jimin there, but quickly replaced it with a quick bow towards the omega. “Head Omega, how are you? How may we be of service?” He had always been attentive to Jimin’s needs, and Jimin trusted Yeosang with his life. He had proven time and time again that he was a very knowledgeable and respected healer, behind no one but Tae, whom taught the beta himself. He was older than both Jimin and Tae, but he was always open to learning more, even if he learned it from someone younger.

Jimin smiled. “Yeosang, please, call me Jimin. You know this.” The beta smiled in response and nodded towards the other’s request.

“Now, Tae, please go home and rest. You too Yeosang. You both must be so tired.” Jimin walked towards the side of Minho’s bed, taking a seat on the single chair that was near the bed. Minho was still and silent but still breathing—chest falling and rising in deep slow movements. It was as if the alpha was in deep slumber.

“I apologize for daring to defy you Head Omega—I mean, Jimin—but I don’t think I can leave you here by yourself. It could be a danger to you if Minho wakes up.” Yeosang declared, not liking the idea of leaving the younger omega unprotected. “Head Alpha wouldn’t like that either. So, if you want to stay, I’m going to stay with you.”

Jimin sighed. “Yeah, you don’t have to remind me how ridiculously overprotective my mate can be. I’m fully aware. But Jeongguk needs to learn that I essentially do what I want. And I want for you two to go have a nice long rest while I stay here and look over Minho. Is that too much to ask?”

Jimin wasn’t helpless, and this time he was fully aware of his surroundings, so he wouldn’t be caught off guard like in the woods. Besides, there were beta guards outside the cabin at all times now, since Minho was technically being held for questioning.

“No matter how much it annoys you Minie, I agree with Yeosang. I’m not leaving you here alone either. I’ve had too many scares in the past 24 hours, so I wouldn’t be able to handle it if something were to happen to you. We’ll stay another hour while you visit Minho. You won’t change my mind, so don’t even try.” Taehyung argued. He grabbed the chair from the healing pod next to him and dragged it to the other side of Minho’s bed, across of where Jimin was currently sitting.

“We omegas are so stubborn aren’t we?” Jimin let out in defeat.

Taehyung smiled, “You know it. No one can handle me. Not even Yoongi. That alpha can keep on trying.” He let out a small laugh, and Jimin giggled in response.

Yeosang still stood off to the side, feet shuffling in awkwardness, and Jimin wondered if the beta often felt lonely. Yeosang didn’t have a partner and he often spent his time studying and working instead. Jimin didn’t know if it was because he wasn’t interested, or if he just hadn’t found the right person yet. Come to think of it, Jimin doesn’t remember ever seeing Yeosang with any betas or omegas in the time that he has known him. He must get so lonely. Jimin couldn’t even stand a whole day without Jeongguk.

“Taehyung, please tell me you haven’t been giving Yoongi hyung a hard time.” Jimin teased. He had to admit defying Jeongguk at times was kind of fun, seeing the alpha get all riled up—and instead of leading to actual punishment, it led to other more fiery and intense situations. The omega’s mind drifted to this morning’s events and instantly blushed at the reminder. His pulse accelerated and he willed his heart to calm down before he got aroused in front of his soulmate and friend. That would be so awkward…and embarrassing.

“Well, well, well. You tell me Jiminie. It seems it hasn’t been me who’s been giving their alpha a hard time, now is it? Your entire face is red.” Tae teased, grinning mischievously. “I didn’t want to mention it earlier, but now that we’re on topic of teasing and exposing each other, you seem to have that post-sex glow. Want to explain Minie?”

Jimin couldn’t believe he had basically given himself away. Damn hormones! “Post-sex glow? Is that even a thing?” He couldn’t believe they were even talking about this right now, right in front of Yeosang whom had already gotten red in the face, and in front of Minho, who was basically in a coma. At least that could save his ears from having to listen to this conversation.

“Well what do you want me to say instead? That you have the face of someone who has just been thoroughly fucked out? Because then let me tell you precious Jiminie, you have the face of someone who just got fucked. To Mars.”

“Taehyung! Be quiet! You can’t be saying these things so loud—and in front of other people!” Jimin argued, shocked at the other’s words. That omega could be so shameless sometimes, Jimin wondered how Yoongi could even handle him. He turned to Yeosang, who was still standing in the same place, face looking around as if to pretend he wasn’t listening in, but his bright red ears gave him away.

When Yeosang noticed he got caught by the Head Omega he instantly held up his hands in defense. “Don’t worry, I won’t judge. What is said in the infirmary, stays in the infirmary. Promise.” Jimin sighed in relief, knowing Yeosang would never go against him. He didn’t need Jeongguk finding out about their little talk, so his already very large ego could grow even more. Jimin didn’t need more reasons for the other to tease him.

Yeosang turned his face away from the omega, focusing his stare elsewhere. Jimin thought he saw a jealous glint in his eyes for a moment, the feeling coming and going so fast he could have just imagined it. He must feel so lonely.

“Okay, I’ll stop teasing you already. I’m just jealous you’re getting some action and I’m stuck here. Sue me.” Taehyung continued. “Now in all seriousness, I’ve been meaning to mention it to you—and now that we’re slightly on topic—for a while I’ve noticed a certain glow on you that I can’t really pinpoint out. It’s not like you and Jeongguk are having sex every day right?”

Jimin giggled at the other’s ridiculous theory. “Well for one, we are indeed pretty much having sex every day. Jeongguk is practically insatiable nowadays. But I think you’re trying to get at something else.” Jimin hovered a little over Minho, reaching over closer to Taehyung, and lowered his voice a little. “Tae…I think I’m pregnant. Jin basically told me last night—and I think he’s right.”

“I KNEW IT! Yoongi owes me a thorough blowjob now.” Taehyung exclaimed, a smug look overtaking his features.

Jimin’s mouth dropped open. He was completely baffled. Not only did his soulmate already suspect he was pregnant and didn’t tell him anything, but he had also bet a blowjob on his future child? He really needed to re-evaluate his friendship choices.

After questioning all the alphas in the pack, and not arriving at any answers, the alphas and some beta guards were currently scouting the forest, trying to find any trace of other wolf packs. They were well into the hunting, when the sudden smell of fire stopped them in their tracks. “Do you guys smell that?” Hoseok asked, nose sniffling in the air. Jeongguk, Namjoon, and Yoongi all collectively nodded, and their eyes and ears immediately went on alert.

“Let’s go see what’s happening.” Jeongguk commanded, and the others quickly followed. As they neared the border, they could start to see smoke in the air, and they increased their pace, already assuming the worst. They could see a burning brightness ahead, and it didn’t take long after that to come to the conclusion that something was burning in the village. “Quickly! Something is burning!” Jeongguk hollered.

They all broke into a run, and in a matter of minutes, they were in front of a burning cabin. What the hell? “My pup! Moonjae! He’s still in there! Please help me! He’s still in there!” Jeongguk could hear an omega crying desperately, and he turned his head to see her close to the cabin entrance, other villagers holding her back from going inside. There was a pup inside?

His alpha immediately reacted, and before anyone could stop him, he ran towards the cabin entrance and made his way inside. The villagers outside were shouting, some asking for Jeongguk to get out, and others yelling for buckets of water to stop the fire.

Jeongguk was immediately met with suffocating smoke, the fire around him so hot, it felt like it was melting his skin. Find the pup! He made his way towards the area that hadn’t caught as much fire yet, making sure he wasn’t touching anything, and he noticed the pup was still in his bed, sleeping. Luckily the area around the pup hadn’t caught fire yet, and he was still in time to save him and get out safely. He approached the bed, Moonjae finally waking in confusion, and he grabbed the quilt the boy was using and wrapped it around the pup completely. He had to protect the pup from inhaling too much smoke. Who knows how much the boy may have already inhaled.

He picked up the now-covered Moonjae, hugging him to his chest, and made his way back towards the entrance. The fire had already spread a little more, it partially blocking the entrance, but Jeongguk continued on, hoping to get across and out without any injury. The smoke in the air was what was making his head hurt, and breathing was starting to burn his throat. He needed to get out now.

Adrenaline drove him forward and before he knew it, he was met with fresh air. The villagers all let out a sigh of relief upon seeing him exit, some coming forward with the aim to help him, but something holding them back, unsure if to touch the possibly injured alpha. Most were still shocked he had barged into a burning cabin without hesitation.

Jeongguk wheezed as he tried getting all the smoke out from his lungs. His eyes burned, tears coming out his eyes, but the fresh air was helping in clearing his cloudy mind. He quickly looked down to the pup in his arms, still completely covered in a blanket to prevent him from inhaling any smoke. “My baby! My pup!” the distressed omega mother came forward, running towards Jeongguk in search for her pup. Jeongguk fell to his knees as the adrenaline driving him earlier started to leave his body. He handed the covered pup over to the mother, the alpha inside him happy that he was able to save the child from burning alive.

“Check, please. Is he—okay?” Jeongguk fell into a coughing fit, cough full of black carbonaceous sputum. He must have inhaled more smoke than he thought. That’s not important. Is the pup okay?

The frantic omega quickly uncovered her pup, and the small boy under was wide awake now—visibly scared and confused—but alive. He didn’t seem to be coughing or having problems breathing, so the pup wasn’t in any kind of immediate danger. Jeongguk sighed in relief.

“Thank you, Head Alpha! I don’t know how I could ever repay you. You saved my pup’s life!” the omega cried, now in gratitude, head bowing and bowing towards the other. Jeongguk shaked his head in dismissal, thinking the omega had nothing to thank him for. He was just doing what was right.

He noticed most of the village had gathered around the burning cabin, and many of the alphas and betas were working in tandem in trying to put out the fire with buckets of water. There was no way they were going to be able to preserve anything from the cabin anymore, but at least they could keep it from spreading. Yoongi and Hoseok were leading the lines from different angles, helping keep the fire down before it consumed the entire village.

Jeongguk’s coughing was calming down, and his lungs could now take full breaths. Namjoon was by his side the next second, and the alpha realized he had brought Taehyung with him. He must have fled to fetch the healers immediately after seeing Jeongguk enter the cabin, in case they were going to be needed.

“Guk, are you having problems breathing?” Taehyung asked him in full seriousness, and Jeongguk tried not to laugh at the other’s serious expression, not ever really seeing Taehyung that serious. Pretty much ever in his life.

“No, I can breathe just fine now. It just burns a little when I take a deep breath.” Jeongguk answered, his chest still rising and falling at an increased pace. Taehyung pulled the alpha to his feet and started inspecting his entire body for any burns. There wasn’t any. “Tae, I’m fine. Go check on the pup. Make sure he’s as okay as he looks.”

Tae looked like he wanted to argue, but eventually nodded and left to approach the omega mother whom still had her pup in her arms, tears still nonstop. Namjoon grabbed Jeongguk’s shoulder with worry in his eyes. “Jeongguk, are you sure you’re okay? You should get thoroughly checked out at the healing cabin—”

“No need hyung. I feel much better now. I’m more worried as to how the cabin caught on fire,” the alpha responded. Jeongguk was surprised—fires in the village were very rare. A fire hadn’t broke out in a long time in the Jeon pack, and the last one he encountered was the Park pack village attack. Something wasn’t right.

In that moment, Yoongi and Hoseok came over—first making sure the Head Alpha was in one piece and breathing—and then proceeded to deliver news. “Guk, after assessing the fire and the damage from the inside versus the outside…from what we can tell, this was—this was done on purpose,” Yoongi revealed, and Hoseok confirmed along behind him. “What we don’t get is why someone would set fire to the village, or in this case to Yooji’s cabin. She doesn’t have any enemies—in fact, everyone in the village loves her for her delicious cooking. And for god’s sake there was a pup in there. I refuse to believe someone would set fire to it knowing that.”

Jeongguk could feel anger twirling in his stomach at what the alphas were telling him. He couldn’t believe that such behavior was occurring in his pack. How dare they endanger the lives of his people? “Are you sure about this? Maybe Yooji left the fire running on the wood stove or..or.. maybe an oil lamp fell and started the fire—wait, where was Yooji in all of this? Why wasn’t she inside like her pup?" Jeongguk questioned. Things were just not adding up.

“She said she received a notice at her door and it was requesting her presence at the kitchens. So she went, thinking it would not take too long, and pup Moonjae was sleeping, so she didn’t think much of it. Moonjae was normally supposed to be in daycare, but he missed today because he’s been a little sick. She had barely been at the kitchens for a few minutes when she realized the notice was incorrect. By then, the fire was already well on its way, and well…you know.” Yoongi explained.

Jeongguk’s brows furrowed in deep concentration. He exhaled, “So—so you’re telling me that Yooji was basically let out of her cabin before the fire started.” He started pacing, hands clenched and mind reeling. “So that means Yooji wasn’t the target…as for Moonjae…we can assume the instigator probably thought he was in daycare…so why did they burn the cabin. Why? This doesn’t make sense!”

Namjoon was quick to interject. “Well usually when things like this happen, such as the fire, the perpetrator either means to kill its’ target or to cause a distraction. Right? So, if Yooji wasn’t a target in this case then that means this fire was—”

“A distraction…” Jeongguk immediately finished the other’s thought. He suddenly felt a fear so deep it made his bones chill. His chest constricted and air left his paralyzed lungs.

Jimin had eventually gone back to his cabin after Taehyung insisted there wasn’t anything he could do to help Minho. Taehyung had teased his ears off after finding out about his pregnancy, talking about what they were going to name the pup, and essentially taking bets in whether the pup would turn out alpha, beta, or omega. Considering a lineage between a Head Alpha and a male omega, the first born is almost always an alpha.

Yeosang had offered to help Jimin out with his pregnancy and Jimin had agreed wholeheartedly. Taehyung said he would gladly test Jimin’s urine after he got a good night’s rest, since they needed to confirm their suspicions. That also gave the crazy taller omega more reason to tease Jeongguk later when he would rub it in his face that he had no clue Jimin was pregnant right underneath his nose. Taehyung was too evil for his own good sometimes.

Jimin was nicely curled up on his and Jeongguk’s bed, reading a story he’d already read like a thousand times but wouldn’t get sick of, when he heard a large commotion coming from outside. He instantly dropped his book and got up from the bed, approaching the window that was facing the main village. He saw something burning bright in the distance, and it didn’t register in his brain that there was a fire in the village until his nostrils were hit with the smell of smoke in the air.

Why was the village on fire? What happened? He immediately made way for the door, ready to go help in anyway he could, before he was stopped. The omega twitched his nose, the smell of smoke overwhelming him suddenly. Why did the smoke smell so strongly in here? He quickly looked around, making sure it wasn’t his cabin that was on fire and he didn’t even realize.

He did a quick sweep of the entire cabin—theirs being a lot bigger than most others—checking the kitchen, living area, bathroom, and guest room. He didn’t see anything on fire, or anything even being a potential hazard. Must be his sensitive nose with the pregnancy.

He was on his way back towards the cabin entrance, ready to head out and help, when he noticed the window from the kitchen was now wide open. What? Before his brain could even process what he was seeing, he heard something behind him. His omega instincts immediately woke up, his body going into a fight-or-flight response. He slowly turned around and behind him was a wolf. An unknown wolf. Not again.

The wolf was large, with dark brown hair, and dark red eyes. It was staring at Jimin, poised as if ready to attack at any moment’s notice, and the omega glanced around him, trying desperately to find a weapon somewhere to protect himself. When he found none, he did what he thought was the second best option—running. He immediately pivoted on his heel and rushed towards the door, hoping he would be faster than the alpha wolf. Even he knew that was very wishful thinking.

Before Jimin even got remotely close to the door, he was hit from the back, and his body hit the floor. The alpha was on top of him, heavy weight pressing Jimin further onto the floor. My pup! Protect pup at all costs! Jimin kicked one of his legs up, his elbows also coming up to try to aim for the wolf’s face, and surprisingly hitting the target. The alpha on top of him was caught off guard, and that gave Jimin enough time to slither from underneath it and stand up, body going into a protective stance.

The wolf remained where it was, but this time it started shaking its fur, kicking its legs behind it. It started letting out small howls, eyes turning brown. Jimin was then quick to notice the brown alpha wolf wasn’t trying to kill him, but instead trying to get his attention.

His heart was still pumping in his chest, the inexplicable fear he felt earlier slowly leaving his body. Now he just felt confused. Before he started questioning the wolf for entering his home, the wolf started letting out growls, body twisting, and he saw the brown wolf in front of him shift. Suddenly the wolf was no longer a wolf, but a human. As his eyes met the other’s, Jimin’s heart stopped.

The wolf waited until the remaining beta guards outside the infirmary cabin left in pursuit of the heavy fire taking place in the village, causing quick havoc like he expected. He quickly entered the cabin, making sure no one saw him. When he was inside, he noticed that there was only one bed currently occupied; Minho. He swiftly approached the side of the other alpha’s bed and noticed that Minho was very much, in fact, still in a deep slumber. He wouldn’t feel a thing.

His brain processed quickly, thinking, thinking, until his eyes landed on a pair of pillows lying on a chair near the bed. Without debating it much further, he grabbed the pillows and sighed. Sorry Minho, but we can’t have you ever waking up. You’re the only lead they’ve got. The wolf’s plans were not going to be ruined when he was so close.

He pushed the pillows onto Minho’s face and pressed, hard. For a few moments nothing happened, Minho didn’t struggle, body completely facing it’s ultimate fate. A few seconds later, though, the other alpha’s body started shaking and Minho’s arms came up to grab onto their predator’s hands, body and brain finally waking up to realize they were getting suffocated. The deranged wolf only continued to press harder, body unwilling to give up and show any mercy.

Minho continued to struggle, his yells now heard muffled under the mound of pillows, cutting his ability to breathe. Only seconds later, although it felt like an eternity, his body stopped resisting, the alpha going completely lax, and the wolf knew the other had finally passed. He was dead. And he would take all his secrets with him to the grave.

Chapter Text

Kai was an extraordinary alpha in the Park pack. He was the kind of alpha that omegas or betas would be proud to bring home. He was a great hunter, had a sense of humor, great charisma, and was extremely handsome. Before he had even presented as an alpha, he was already popular with the omegas and was admired and well-liked within the alphas and pack’s leaders. It came as no surprise that he presented as an alpha and soon became one of the pack’s greatest hunters.

Despite Kai being popular among the Park pack’s omegas and betas looking for a mate, everyone in the village knew that Kai’s heart already belonged to someone else. Everyone, except the recipient of said love.

Jimin and Kai pretty much grew up together. Kai’s parents were really close friends with Jimin’s parents and they always joked around that they would both have alpha sons that would grow up to be the best of friends. They never thought that Jimin would be an omega since they were so rare, but were beyond ecstatic when this miracle actually happened. Kai was born one year earlier than Jimin, so before Jimin was even born Kai already knew he would protect the other like he would any younger brother. When Jimin was actually born and it was predicted he would be an omega based off his scent, things changed. The Head Alpha and Omega started to hope for them to be less of best friends, and instead be something more.

“Kai we want you to protect our little Jiminie. He’s going to grow up to be a beautiful and strong omega, and one day we hope something will flourish between you. We trust you, protect him with your life.”

The only thing is that Jimin never saw Kai as something more than a best friend or brother. Since Kai was always protecting him from anything that could potentially cause him harm, he started seeing the other as more of an older brother. This bothered Kai a bit, since he had developed an undying love for the omega quite fast, and it only made it harder to resist this love as Jimin grew up into a beautiful, smart, and caring omega. Jimin’s beauty caught the attention of the entire village; alphas desired his attention and omegas envied his grace. Despite Kai wanting a more intimate relationship with Jimin, he was never brave enough to let the other know of his affections, afraid he would lose Jimin's friendship if the other didn't feel the same. He would much rather have a friendship with Jimin than none at all.

The Head Alpha and Omega always insisted Jimin to give Kai a chance in developing a more intimate relationship with him, but Jimin would only laugh at their ridiculousness. In the omega’s eyes, Kai only saw him as a little brother and he only saw Kai as an older brother.

“Can you both stop? You’re going to make things weird between us! He only sees me as a friend and so do I! Now stop embarrassing me with Kai!”  The omega would often argue, blush overtaking his cheeks in embarrassment.

Not only was the omega clueless when it came to relationships, but there was always something in Jimin’s wolf that told him that no one was right for him there in the Park pack; that his destined alpha was to be found elsewhere. He knew it in his heart, so that was also a major reason why he never even bothered to see Kai as something more, despite the other being handsome and respected in the village. Other omegas would often think he was stupid for never even considering it.

His parents eventually came to accept his view on destined love and hoped that Jimin would soon find his destined mate. They felt sad for Kai, seeing as the other made it quite obvious he was in love with Jimin, and he was actually a very fitting alpha for their son. They felt incredibly selfish in asking the alpha to continue looking over Jimin and protecting him, but Kai insisted they didn’t need to ask because he was willing to do it for the rest of his life.

Even if Jimin was never his.

Kai?” Jimin couldn’t believe what was right in front of him right now. There was no way he wasn’t imagining the alpha that appeared in front of him. Before his brain could even process what was happening, the alpha came forward and crushed Jimin in a hug. He let out a large sigh of relief and Jimin could even hear him mumbling a prayer in thanks over and over.

After a few seconds of hugging, Jimin still practically paralyzed, Kai let him go but only to run his hands all over Jimin, making sure the other was in one piece. His smile was bright with relief and Jimin was still having a hard time understanding…it was like he was in shock. Kai didn’t waste any time, starting to spew a bunch of information in a rush, only stunning Jimin even more.

“As soon as I woke up from my coma…yes I was in a coma for nearly a year Jiminie, can you believe it?! Oh my god Jimin you’ve gotten even more beautiful with time—” Kai kept rambling on and on, hands still finding purchase all over Jimin, as if his wolf was still making sure the other was unharmed and well. When he noticed the omega wasn’t necessarily responding, and was instead in near shock, he slowed down and his earlier smile was replaced with worry.

“Jimin are you doing okay?...I realized what had happened to our village soon after waking. Well actually at first I nearly attacked one of their omega healers thinking I was abducted, but soon realized they had actually saved me. I was with the Choi pack, they took me in. Jiminie... I’m so, so sorry for your loss. It must have been hard for you to deal with all this on your own for this long. It’s been nearly a year… I’m sorry I wasn’t here to help you and protect you. You must have felt so lonely Minie—” Kai continued explaining, and you could see the clear regret in his eyes--and disappointment, in himself, for not being there for the omega. He came forward to grab onto Jimin’s hands from where the smaller male was now sitting on the bed, the other still trying to wrap his head around everything that was happening. The omega still couldn’t believe that Kai was even alive. This whole time the alpha had been in a coma under the care of another pack and Jimin didn’t even have a clue. He should have gone looking. He should have done more for his pack. Because they were his pack and he just panicked, got scared, and left without looking back. His parents would be so disappointed

The sudden feeling of lips caressing the top of his hands brought the omega out of his spiraling thoughts. Kai was grabbing strongly onto his hands, his eyes holding worry as he looked at the omega, and Jimin wouldn’t be surprised if the alpha could hear his thoughts and knew exactly what he was thinking. Kai always knew what Jimin wanted and needed; he knew him for a very long time and cared about him an insane amount. “Jimin please don’t start blaming yourself. You couldn’t have possibly known that I had made it out alive. It was good that you left when you still could. I don’t know what I would have done if anything had happened to you. I swore to your parents, and to myself, that I would always protect you. As soon as I woke up, the first thing I thought of was you.”

Jimin let out a whimper in sadness at the alpha’s words. Everything was suddenly hitting him at once. He was getting flashbacks of the village fire, the burning and smoke, and all the villagers—his people—all slaughtered and dead. He closed his eyes and tried not to let out the tears that were accumulating in his eyes. His heart hurt. Seeing Kai alive was making him relive all those memories he tried for months to leave behind. Before he knew it, the tears were freely flowing down his cheeks and a sob so gut-wrenching spilled from his lips.

Kai was quick. He let go of Jimin’s hands and brought his arms over the omega to embrace him tightly. His arms were strong against the omega, his body completely enveloping the other, and he brought his face to Jimin’s neck in attempt to console the male omega. Something continued to break in Jimin and full cries wrecked his body, sobbing, with a hurting inside his heart so painful it was hard to breathe. Kai only squeezed him harder.

“Please Jimin, don’t cry. I can’t stand to see you cry,” the alpha pleaded into the other’s neck, voice muffled from how tight he was holding on to the omega. “Minie please. Stop. Let me help you.”

Jimin’s cries could now be heard around his home and the alpha was starting to get worried over the other’s mental state. He could smell the panic and fear in Jimin’s scent, his usual honey vanilla smell tainted with bitterness, and he didn’t like it one bit. He started to release calming pheromones in attempts to calm the petite omega and rubbed his nose on the other’s neck to scent him, but it was as if a shock had suddenly electrocuted them both and Jimin immediately flinched and moved away from his embrace. It was so unexpected that Kai couldn’t help but feel a sting in his heart at the rejection. Why couldn’t he scent him? He knew something in Jimin was different, he smelled slightly different, but he couldn’t exactly place what it was.

The omega’s eyes were now puffy, tears still pooled in them, but at least his active crying had stopped, only sniffling as he attempted to calm down. There were still traces of tears on his cheeks and Kai had a hard time trying not to reach out to wipe them away. Something told him Jimin would probably not like that. Not anymore.

Jimin let out a large sigh and Kai knew he was about to be bombarded with questions. “Kai, I still don’t understand any of this. Up until this day I believed everyone had died in the attack and now suddenly you show up…I can’t…I’m having a hard time realizing that you’ve been alive this entire time and I didn’t know—"

“Jimin please, no. Stop. It was not your fault,” Kai quickly interjected, and he came forward again in attempt to hug the omega but Jimin pulled away slightly now that his body was no longer in shock. The action surprised them both. “What’s wrong? Did I hurt you? I didn’t mean to overstep my boundaries—” Kai quickly apologized. The alpha in him was stirring in distress because the last thing he wanted was to make Jimin uncomfortable in any way.

“No Kai. That’s not really it. I just need to tell you that I now have a—”

“Jimin please, don’t cry anymore. It hurts me to see you like this,” the alpha interrupted, and Jimin then realized that mild tears were still running down his face, a remnant of all the pain he had suffered at the loss of his village. “I swear as soon as I woke up from my coma and realized I was still alive, I thought of you. I prayed you were still alive. When I heard from the Choi pack Head Alpha that he knew some omega had survived the attack and was now residing with the Jeon pack I didn’t even hesitate to come looking, hoping and praying that it would be you I would find here. Jimin…you have no idea how happy I am to see you, alive and well.”

“But why did you enter my home like some delinquent?! You scared me!” Jimin argued. His current state was in part due to the adrenaline rush from earlier, where he believed he was once again found by the wolf that had attacked him in the forest. His body shivered at the reminder.

Kai immediately felt guilty, slowly coming forward to embrace the other in apology. The omega didn’t flinch away this time. “I’m so sorry Minie. I ran here pretty much nonstop, and when I got here I followed your scent into this cabin and I hadn’t had a chance to turn back yet—”

Before the alpha managed to finish his apology, the door to the cabin slammed open. A visibly enraged alpha then entered the cabin, eyes red and scent thick with anger. He looked on the verge of losing his sanity any second. The angry alpha let out a growl, and it was so potent that Kai nearly bowed in submission. What? Was he a Head Alpha or?…

Get away from him! Step. Away. Now. I’m going to rip you apart, limb by limb, for what you did to my mate!”

The enraged alpha was suddenly on Kai, growling and claws aiming for his face, out for blood. The attack immediately put Kai in fighting mode, and he responded by attempting to bite back at the attacking alpha. The other was heavy on top of him, muscles bulging with anger, and Kai soon realized that he was fighting an alpha protecting it’s mate, a fight he would most likely not win. Mate? Was Jimin his mate? His wolf saddened at the thought.

Claws managed to catch on his cheek and he felt the immediate burn and pain spread throughout his entire face. He felt blood splatter over his eyes and he let out a yell of pain. The burn in his face was making it hard to concentrate. He attempted to push the other off him, but it was almost as if his limbs wouldn’t follow his commands, weak compared to the other holding him captive. The rabid alpha male on top of him proceeded to bite him on his shoulder, and a pain like he’d never experienced before overtook his senses. He screamed in pain as a fire spread through his veins, engulfing his entire body, throbbing and unrelenting.

He felt instant fear. Impending doom. He was going to die just when he had found Jimin. Fight! You made a promise!

The alpha in him stirred, an anger started to form, and he willed his body to fight back, for Jimin. As he was about to attempt once again in pushing the other off him, he felt the other alpha give away too easily. What? It wasn’t until then that he noticed a ringing in his ears and a pressure in his head. He hadn’t even realized when the other had smashed his head against the floor.

“You’re going to kill him! Please, stop! It wasn’t him!” He could hear Jimin yelling in between all the ringing in his ears. What was going on? Jimin get away! He’s rabid!

“He’s right Jeongguk. You need to calm down.” Another voice pitched in.

“Step away from him Jimin! I won’t let him hurt you! Please.” Kai could hear the venom in the angered alpha’s words, but he also noticed the anguish and worry. When his ears stopped ringing and he no longer felt like his head was going to burst, he opened his eyes and noticed that Jimin was standing over him, a barrier between him and the angered alpha. His alpha whined in opposition.

“Jimin don’t get in the way. You’re going to get hurt.” Kai let out, wincing with every movement as he tried to sit up, only to end up falling back down. His shoulder was causing him so much pain he was afraid he would pass out.

“Don’t speak to him! Don’t even look at him. I would never hurt my mate! Stop pretending to care, its not going to save you—” the alpha, Jeongguk, interjected before Jimin quickly stopped him.

“Please alpha, stop,” he warned. Jeongguk snarled in defiance, but listened nonetheless.

Kai could now see the alpha more clear; he was a tall, muscular dark brown-haired alpha with dark red eyes and canines ready to attack. He had sharp features and as much as Kai hating admitting it, he was incredibly handsome. And scary.

Jimin was currently still blocking him from Jeongguk and Kai wanted to get after the omega once again for being so reckless and getting in the middle of two alphas fighting. Despite the tense atmosphere and earlier encounter, he could see that Jeongguk was still very much in control, although still baring his canines in case Kai attacked suddenly, body poised and tense, always ready to defend Jimin at any moment’s notice. Had Jimin really found himself an alpha mate?

In that moment Jimin approached Jeongguk, once he saw he was no longer going to attack Kai, and he wrapped his arms around the other’s body, exhaling in relief. Jeongguk immediately reciprocated the hug, but not long before he gently pushed Jimin behind him. Away from Kai’s view. Jeongguk’s eyes were still bleeding red, and Kai knew the alpha wasn’t backing down just yet. “Yoongi, please take him to the prisoner cabin and hold him there until I say so,” he ordered and that was when Kai noticed the other wolves standing near the door, probably just observing and waiting for any further orders from their head alpha. “Hoseok help him in case he decides to resist,” he continued, and then looked fiercely at Kai. “Because resisting would certainly not be a good idea.”

Kai scoffed at the other alpha’s clear warning, nearly wanting to laugh at the other for being so ridiculous. His entire body was in pain, he would be surprised if he could even get up. A slightly smaller alpha male with black hair, but still equally as intimidating, stepped out from the bunch of wolves and approached him. He was quickly followed by another alpha with light brown hair, whom Kai assumed was Hoseok. The pair of alphas grabbed him by the arms and he immediately let out a gasp of pain, the fire in his limbs intensifying with the movement.

He could see Jimin attempting to move towards him through his peripheral vision, but Jeongguk kept the male omega secured behind him. There was an unsaid order for the omega to stay put while the threat was dealt with. “You can’t do this!” the omega cried out from behind the other. If Kai didn’t absolutely dislike the head alpha at this moment, he would say he was glad Jimin met an alpha that cared about him that much. Even if his gut burned with jealously at knowing Jimin was no longer obtainable.

As soon as the pain in his limbs eventually became numb, he started cooperating with the alphas carrying him out of the cabin. He took one last look at Jimin, sending him a sign that it was okay. He would be fine. Jimin didn’t seem to quite believe him, eyes still holding worry. Jeongguk was still on alert, shielding the omega from him, eyes as tense as ever. Kai let out a mocking laugh at the irony of the situation. He would first kill himself before he ever hurt Jimin. “I’m going to play along with your games for now Head Alpha Jeon. I apologize for intruding into your lands so suddenly and without notice. I’m not sure exactly of what you’re accusing me of, but I came here for Jimin. And neither you, or any of your minions, will stop me. I’m here for Jimin whether you like it or not.”

Jeongguk let out a slight snarl, not liking the threat from the other, but before he could do anything else the alphas holding onto him carried him out of the cabin. Leaving an angry head alpha and a worried omega behind.

As soon as Kai was carried out of Jeongguk and Jimin’s cabin and towards the prisoner cabin, everything broke loose. Namjoon and Taehyung started bombarding Jimin with questions about the mystery alpha. Jeongguk was still visibly upset and Jimin was still even processing what happened.

“What just happened? Did he hurt you? Who was that?” Tae asked.

“Is this the alpha we’ve been looking for?” Namjoon questioned.

Jimin felt shaky and Jeongguk’s anger was making his omega crazy. He sat back on the bed and buried his face in his hands. Everything was happening so fast. He needed to go talk to Kai and ask him if he knew anything else about the village fire that had ripped his family away from him nearly a year ago. But something told him Jeongguk wouldn’t let him. He was still very much on edge. He would never get through to Jeongguk when he was this visibly upset.

Taehyung quickly sat next to him, hand coming to rub him on his back. “Jimin? Who was that? Was he from your pack?”

Jimin let out an exasperated sigh. He saw Jeongguk pacing back and forth around their room, trying to calm his alpha down but failing. He turned to look at Tae and tried his best at smiling. “Yes. His name is Kai and we were close friends back in my village.” He was incredibly worried over Kai’s injuries, and he hoped Taehyung would go visit him to see if he was truly okay.

Namjoon suddenly came forward from where he was still standing near the door and knelt in front of the male omega. “Jimin when did Kai come in? Did you know there was a fire just a few minutes ago?” he asked.

Leaving his current worry over Kai, Jimin now remembered the events that had transpired before Kai had arrived and turned his entire world around. He had thought the wolf had found him again and he was in danger. “Yes. I had just noticed the fire through the window when I sensed something in the cabin. I was scared. I thought the wolf that attacked me had found me again and I wasn’t ready for that—”

Jeongguk was next to him in the next second, bringing his arms around him, and burying his nose in the omega’s neck. Jimin could sense the calming pheromones that his mate was releasing, and he was surprised Jeongguk could still have this control even after everything that just happened. “Jimin, baby, please don’t remind me that I was almost too late. God when I realized the fire was most likely a set up and then I sensed your fear…Jimin you have no idea what went through my head just then.” His arms tightened around the male omega, as if afraid that Jimin would disappear any second.

Feeling as if they were intruding on some very much needed conversation, Taehyung and Namjoon stood to leave. “We’ll ask you more about Kai when you’re more calm Jiminie. Okay? As far as the fire, Jeongguk I’ll look into it more.” Namjoon said, and then he bowed in goodbye. Taehyung smiled at Jimin and the petite omega knew it was his way to say you have to tell me everything later. “I’ll go see if there were any other injuries and check on Yooji and Moonjae.” He bowed in goodbye as well, and when Jimin was about to interject, the taller omega quickly added “and yes I’ll go make sure Kai gets his injuries looked at and treated. Don’t stress Jiminie.” Jimin didn’t need to thank him, his eyes said it all. With one last bow, the two proceeded to exit the cabin.

“Yooji and Moonjae? Oh my god are they okay? Jeongguk what happened with the fire? Is everyone okay—” Jimin asked, now curious about the whole ordeal. Jeongguk didn’t even let him finish before he started asking his own questions, more curious about Kai.

“Jimin who is this Kai? Did he hurt you? I swear I’m going to kill him if he even as much as touched a strand of your hair—" he started, body already getting riled up. Jimin knew then that Jeongguk had reeled in his alpha for the sake of the others. He was still very much on edge as when he came in and attacked Kai.

“You need to calm down. Nothing happened—"

“How can you ask me to calm down? Jimin, I entered the cabin and I saw you there, crying and looking scared with him basically on top of you and I snapped. I felt an anger and a need to hurt him for the way he was looking at you and touching you,” Jeongguk argued. He couldn’t believe Jimin was even defending the other alpha. How can Jimin not understand the fear that he felt at seeing the omega in such a compromised situation again? He would be damned if he ever let Jimin get hurt again. Over his dead body.

“It wasn’t him! He’s a friend from my pack! He survived and came looking for me—” Jimin fought back. He needed to let Jeongguk understand that Kai was not a threat to him, and never would be.

“Now?! Suddenly? C’mon Jimin! You have to admit that this is suspicious! And please, you need to realize how infatuated he is with you! How can you possibly defend him when he could be who attacked you!” Jeongguk’s eyes were turning red again, the anger bleeding through at the thought of the other alpha anywhere near Jimin.

“There is no way he would ever do that! And actually, I can’t believe you attacked him!” Jimin cried out, “And imprisoned him! He’s my friend! Basically my brother—”

Jeongguk couldn’t help but scoff at the omega’s defense. “Does he know that?”

Jimin couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Are you seriously pulling the jealousy card right now? You can’t be serious. Kai is my friend. He’s alive. Someone from my pack is alive. I can’t believe you would attack him—”

“How could I not when he was all over you! Something is not right with him! He smells off. How come you never mentioned him before? Why didn’t I know he even existed since you seem to care so much for him,” the alpha said in a mocking tone, not liking that Jimin was becoming so protective of the other alpha. Yes part of it might be his jealousy talking, but why couldn’t Jimin see that Kai’s sudden appearance was suspicious?

“Don’t start Jeongguk,” the omega chastised, not liking Jeongguk’s tone and certainly not liking that the alpha was even questioning his loyalty. “I never mentioned Kai because it hurt to think about him being dead. He was like a brother to me, he protected me when I was in my pack, and he has never, and will never, cause me any harm. So please Jeongguk, set him free. Right. Now.” His omega was becoming frustrated once again at the thought of Kai injured and imprisoned.

“No. You won’t fight me on this. He won’t be set free until he is properly questioned. By me.” Jeongguk immediately objected. “I’m sorry Jimin but I’m keeping him detained. I will not let him hurt you.”

Jimin was getting extremely frustrated. He couldn’t believe that Jeongguk was acting like this over a misunderstanding. Kai might have suddenly barged in, but it was still Kai. His friend. That was alive. Did he not trust him enough? “Why do you keep insisting he will hurt me? He’s not going to hurt me! Why can’t you trust me on this? Does my word not mean anything to you?”

Jeongguk was suddenly in his face, eyes set with determination and slight anguish at the omega’s insinuation. He grabbed Jimin’s face in his hands and brought his lips over the omega’s now trembling ones. “You mean everything to me Jimin. You mean the whole world to me,” the alpha explained, his thumbs caressing Jimin’s soft cheeks. “Why can’t you understand my need to protect you? Please, baby, let me protect you.”

Jimin couldn’t help but let out a whine, a pout forming on his lips. “Alpha…protect me from what? I already told you Kai is not going to hurt me. He cares about me. He would never—”

“But I don’t know about him yet. He’s a complete stranger to me. I don’t know what his intentions are with you. All I know is that my alpha instincts tell me not to trust him yet,” Jeongguk argued, trying to get through to the omega. But the petite male still looked like he wanted to object and Jeongguk hated the slight burning jealousy that curled in his gut at Jimin protecting the other so fiercely. It made him feel slightly insecure, and he hated feeling insecure. “Jimin…baby…please understand that I need to question him like I would any other intruder in our pack. If he is as innocent as you say, then you have nothing to worry about.”

The omega was silent then, and Jeongguk wasn’t sure whether he had finally gotten through to Jimin or if he had just given up after seeing Jeongguk wasn’t going to back down from his decision. Jimin could convince him to do many things for him, but when it came to his safety there would be no debate. It was going to be Jeongguk’s way.

The alpha continued caressing Jimin’s cute cheeks, the omega just standing there staring into the other’s eyes, waiting, and Jeongguk eventually brought his lips forward to connect with the other’s. He was met with Jimin’s soft lips, that he could never get tired of, and he gave the omega a quick peck before he pulled away. Jimin was still standing there, eyes starting to glaze over, and Jeongguk came forward again to deepen the kiss, now nipping on the other’s plump lower lip, as his lips glided across Jimin’s, tasting the other.

Jimin was starting to respond to his kisses when he suddenly stopped and pushed the alpha away. “No!” he yelled. To say the alpha was surprised and hurt at his outburst would be an understatement. “You will not distract me with kisses and lovely talk just to get your way! Not with this! Kai is currently imprisoned, hurt, just because you’re jealous! I will not stand for this. If you won’t set him free, then I will Jimin was already setting off towards the prisoner cabin, but Jeongguk quickly grabbed onto his arm.

“You’re not going anywhere near him! He poses a threat to you!” Jeongguk yelled, and it wasn’t until Jimin visibly flinched that he noticed he was holding onto the omega’s arm a little too tight. He immediately let go off the other as if he got burned and the alpha inside him whimpered at his actions. You need to calm down before you do something you regret!

Jimin now looked at him with disappointment in his eyes. Jeongguk hated it. But he’d rather have an angry omega than an unsafe omega. He wasn’t going to back down from this. “Jimin I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to grab you that way—” He put his hands through his hair, pulling his hair strands in desperation. All he wanted was for Jimin to listen to him this once. “I just—please Jimin just understand and listen to me—”

“I can’t believe you right now. I don’t even know who you are right now. I can’t believe you’re letting your jealousy poison your brain with so much stupidity—”

“That’s not what this is! I’m protecting you! Why can’t you understand that?” Jeongguk argued, already getting riled up from the constant stress attacking his body. He just wanted to wrap Jimin up in a burrito of quilts, take him to bed, and hug him to sleep all night. Where he knew he would be safe in his arms.

“Oh yeah, I totally don’t understand! Kai is my friend and I’m not going to abandon him! No matter if I have to against you this time.” Jimin threatened, and it was the first time that Jeongguk had seen him so angry. At him.

“Jimin I swear to god if you step out that door to go see him, I will—”

You will what? Punish me? Throw me in the prison as well? Are you seriously threatening me right now? Do you hear yourself?!” Jimin was getting more and more visibly upset and he looked like was about to burst at the seams.

The alpha was completely silenced at the omega’s outburst, completely shocked that Jimin could ever show such emotions towards him. He couldn’t believe they were having their first major fight and it was over a dumb alpha. He seriously felt like a teenager just now. When he saw that Jimin wasn’t going to say anything else, and instead started walking towards their cabin door, he quickly interjected. “Where are you going? You can’t go see him right now, the beta guards won’t allow you to enter—”

“Don’t worry, Head Alpha. I’m going over to Tae’s cabin so maybe he can explain to me what happened with the fire since you won’t. So no need to worry Head Alpha.” Jimin responded so bitterly. Jeongguk couldn’t help but scoff at the other’s attitude. He couldn’t believe Jimin wouldn’t just let it go. Everything was falling apart so quick that it was giving him whiplash. He knew he was acting a little irrational, but his wolf had been ridiculously alert since Jimin’s attack. Is this what its like to go into a Rage?

Jimin glared at him when he reached the door, turning back to look at the alpha, and that’s when Jeongguk knew that he had majorly messed up. “Don’t wait up for me. I won’t be coming back to sleep here tonight.” And before the alpha could even attempt to save the situation, Jimin slammed the door in his face.

Taehyung couldn’t believe everything that had transpired in the last couple of hours. First the fire in the village. And now some alpha from Jimin’s pack was alive? And suddenly he came looking for Jimin? He was going to question the omega later. And probably get after him for never mentioning such an important person in his life.

Kai will definitely bring some drama to this pack, he thought. He just hopes no one ends up being killed. That being Kai. By Jeongguk. The head alpha could have quite the temper, and when it came to Jimin it was even worse. If Kai was some kind of lover from Jimin’s past, then things were going to get interesting real quick. Gosh why did he love drama so damn much?

He entered the healing cabin while his mind was still reeling from all the revelations today. As soon as he entered, he noticed that Yeosang was already inside, standing next to Minho’s bed. “Oh hey, Yeosang! Did Yooji or Moonjae stop by needing anything?” Yeosang didn’t answer, but seeing as to neither of them were inside the cabin, he assumed everything was okay with them.

“How’s Minho doing? Do you think he’ll wake up soon? We kind of need him now more than ever. We have a new suspect that just arrived—apparently some ‘alpha’ from Jimin’s pack, but honestly now that I think of it, he sounds really sketch—” he continued but eventually came to halt when he noticed that Yeosang wasn’t really paying much attention to him, but was instead still looking down at Minho on his bed, head bent low. It was then that Taehyung heard him sniffling, and he quickly noticed there were tears falling down Yeosang’s face.

He rushed forward, grasping Yeosang by the arm, and he noticed the other’s red-rimmed eyes. “Yeosang? What happened? Why are you crying?” Before the other answered, he turned to look down at Minho, fearing the worst, and noticed the other alpha was lying completely still in his bed. Looking even more pale than before. Is he—?

Yeosang answered before his brain could fully wrap itself around what he was seeing. “He’s dead Tae. Minho is dead.”

Chapter Text

Jeongguk was furious. Not only was he angry at himself for getting into a fight with Jimin, but he was infuriated at Kai for being the cause of it. When Jimin had left, slamming the door in his face, the alpha inside him had whined at the omega’s rejection. He felt a tug at his heart, telling him that he had to make things right with the other, but he knew that going after Jimin when he was angry was going to prove to be futile. He hated thinking his mate was angry at him, but he couldn’t help it. In these recent days, especially after Jimin’s attack, his wolf had been ridiculously hostile and possessive.

He didn’t understand why he never felt comfortable unless the omega was in his arms, always within reach. You love him, that’s why. But no, this time it was different. And Kai was not helping matters. He needed to figure what the other wanted from Jimin, and he was not going to allow him anywhere near his mate until he figured out his intentions. No matter how much Jimin fought him on it.

He started pacing around their cabin, figuring out what to do next. Should he go question Kai? Should he go question Namjoon about the fire? Should he go visit Minho at the healing cabin? There was way too much going on at the same time and his brain wanted to explode at trying to figure out how this could all be connected. Was it even connected? He left out a sigh of frustration. Think! Think!

He decided in the next second. He made his way out his cabin door and started heading towards the prisoner cabin. He was going to question Kai first. Maybe he even had something to do with the fire, causing a distraction so he could get to Jimin. His alpha growled at the thought. He swears to God if Kai was the cause of Jimin’s attack…he’ll murder him.

He noticed that the village was quiet once again, the earlier havoc caused by the fire being long subdued. The villagers must have entered their cabins, seeking comfort in their own homes. He was glad they had managed to stop the fire from spreading, since it would have gone downhill pretty quick. Namjoon must have gotten a more thorough report about the fire by now, and he took mental note to question him about it later. First, he wanted to threaten Kai and see if he would confess to any of the events that had happened recently. He actually hoped Kai was the instigator; they would finally have some answers, could finally move on happily, and well, he wanted to get his hands on him so bad.

He was on his way to the prisoner cabin when he ran into Jin and Joyeon—the two omegas often hung out together—and Jin immediately stopped him. He grabbed onto Jeongguk’s arm before the other could take another step. “Hey, where are you going? You can’t go see Kai right now,” the omega argued.

Jeongguk groaned in response. “Jin hyung, please. I need to go question him. I need answers. Now.” He attempted to take another step in his intended direction, but Jin’s hold on him didn’t give. He turned to look at his omega older brother in annoyance, and really hated pulling out his status on him, but right now everything was making him snappy. “Jin hyung, let me go. Are you sure you want to be going against the Head Alpha right now? My patience is running thin.”

Instead of Jin getting angry at him, as he expected, the other laughed. “Oh my god Jeongguk! I’m trying really hard to take you seriously but sorry, I can’t. I’m your older brother, so you could be the deity himself and I could care less. If I say you can’t go see Kai right now, then you listen to me you brat.”

Joyeon gasped in shock next to him, and Jeongguk remembered that talking back to the Head Alpha, and especially in front of others, was considered treason. Except maybe if you were Jin. He was the only one Jeongguk allowed to give him orders, always respecting him in that way. And well Jimin could convince him for a lot of things as well, especially when the other would pout cutely. He was whipped. Sue him.

He sighed in retreat. “Is there a reason why I can’t go see Kai right now?” he asked, reeling his alpha in before he snapped at Jin and did something he would regret. He had already messed up with Jimin, he didn’t need to disappoint anyone else.

Once Jin took note that the alpha wasn’t going to be running off towards the prisoner cabin anymore, he let the other’s arm go. At the same time, the omega didn’t want anyone potentially seeing him grabbing onto the Head Alpha that way. It was technically considered disrespectful and it made the alpha look weak. That’s the last thing Jin wanted, but sometimes Jeongguk would leave him no choice. The other could be so rash at times.

“He is currently asleep and he needs his rest before you go in there and start questioning the living shit out of him. Just give him a couple of hours, it can wait,” he explained. He turned to look at Joyeon and she immediately jumped in.

“I checked Kai myself. I put some soothing salve on his shoulder bite, he was currently running a fever and sounding a little delirious, but it should bring down his fever in a couple hours. You really got him good there,” she said, albeit a little nervously. She blushed when she caught Jeongguk staring at her, listening intently on what she had to say.

Jin knew Joyeon had always had a crush on his little brother since they were young kids, but she had never admitted to it. Jin had been friends with her for a long time, she was a healer-in-training, but she often spent her time with Jin learning how to sew hides and stuff. So he knew she was lying every time he would ask her. It saddened him a bit to know that Joyeon had not bothered to move on yet, still keeping her crush a secret, but he was always extremely glad Jeongguk had found Jimin. Jimin brought out the best in Jeongguk, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Before Namjoon left to go further investigate about the fire, he came and told me about this Kai, apparently someone alive from Jimin’s pack, making an appearance looking for Jimin. He mentioned he was injured, after you attacked him, and told me to fetch miss Joyeon here since Taehyung was going to go check on Yooji and Moonjae. He appears to be doing fine save the fever, and the salve that Joyeon gave him should certainly help,” he explained.

“And where is Namjoon now?” the alpha asked.

“He is currently speaking with some of our alpha investigators about the fire. He left a little while ago. Where were you? I’m surprised it took you this long to come seek Kai,” the omega mentioned.

Jeongguk’s heart ached at the reminder of his fight with Jimin. He let out a rustled breath. “Well Jimin was a little spooked so I stayed with him. But after the whole thing with Kai, you know with me attacking him, Jimin didn’t like that I sent him to be imprisoned. Or that I attacked him for that matter. We fought over it. And hyung—“ the alpha started, exasperated while his scent turned a little sour, “he wouldn’t understand that I was doing it for him. I wanted him to be safe. But he kept going against me, fighting me, and saying Kai was innocent. I—I don’t like when he argue hyung, but we were both so on edge about the whole thing. He left me hyung—and told me not to wait up for him. God he must hate me right now, but I swear I’m doing it to keep him safe—"

Jin was quick to interrupt him. “You argued? Jeongguk! That can’t be good for Jimin! You need to be more careful you brat!” he chastised. Jimin was with pup and any increased stress was dangerous for them both. Jin wanted to smack the other on the head for being so negligent. Unless…he still didn’t know…

Jeongguk looked at him confused, and that’s when Jin knew he had messed up. Shit! This wasn’t how he was supposed to find out! Why hasn’t Jimin told him yet?

“Hyung, what do you mean? I know that Jimin can be quite sensitive when it comes to our arguments, but he’s not made of glass you know. He’s stronger than you think,” the alpha continued, still as clueless as ever. Jin let out a nervous laugh, and both Jeongguk and Joyeon were now looking at him with suspicion.

“No, no, you’re right. I’m exaggerating,” the omega quickly dismissed, “You already know how protective I am over Jiminie, and I often take his side in your arguments because you’re a spoiled brat. So you can’t be fighting with Jimin over this. Not until you hear his side of the story. If he says Kai is a friend from his pack, then he is. And you need to put aside your jealousy and pride for Jimin’s sake. Jimin is loyal to you, and Kai now being here isn’t going to change that.”

Jeongguk knew that Jin was right, but it was hard to hear it. His alpha was still sensing something off about Kai, and even though he was friends with Jimin before, that didn’t mean he was safe for him now. Nearly a year had passed since they had seen each other, and people change. He just needed to figure out if Kai was one of those people.

“Fine,” he ultimately decided, “I’ll question him when he wakes. You report to me as soon as he does though, okay?” Jin nodded at the request. “Meanwhile can I borrow miss Joyeon? Seeing you just reminded me of something important,” he continued. Joyeon looked surprised at the sudden request, but nodded nonetheless.

“Yes, Head Alpha. Anything you need,” she responded.

Jeongguk smiled and she blushed once again. “Jimin told me about some cloves that you recommended to him and that was the reason why he went out that night he was attacked. Can you tell me more? I haven’t had a chance to talk to you due to everything that has happened, but now that you’re here I want you to show me where these cloves are and tell me what exactly happened that night.”

“Yes alpha. Come with me.”

Jimin was furious. Why was Jeongguk so stubborn at times? Why couldn’t he just let his pride and jealousy go? Aish, that alpha could be so infuriating sometimes.

He stomped his way to Taehyung’s cabin, but was quick to realize that he wasn’t there. Oh yeah, he mentioned he was going to the healing cabin to check on Yooji and Moonjae, he remembered. Aish, his anger at the alpha was making his head all stupid.

He made a quick trek towards the healing cabin, muttering and lightly cursing out his mate for being so stubborn. Damn prideful, over-possessive alpha! You’re banned from touching me all week! He knew he was only being petty, and that Jeongguk was only protecting him, but what he did to Kai didn’t sit well with him.

Sooner or later he was going to end up going to see Kai. And he was going to get him out.

He was outside the infirmary within minutes and he made his way inside after knocking. “Taeeee, do you have any methods about how to kill your mate without leaving any evidence behind? Cuz right now I’m thinking of murdering Jeongguk for being so damn stubborn—”

He halted mid-rant. Tae and Yeosang were standing next to Minho’s bed. As soon as Jimin’s eyes met Taehyung’s, he knew.

And it broke his heart into pieces.

After saying goodbye to Jin, Jeongguk was quick to follow Joyeon. Maybe speaking to the omega would help in piecing everything together. Hopefully.

Joyeon interrupted the quick silence that had developed as they made their way to Joyeon’s cabin. Well it was more of a training cabin, where she shared with 4 other omegas also in training for their respective jobs in the village. Think of it as a dorm in college that was offered to newly presented wolves ready to start their duties with the pack. Only omegas were allowed to live together in her cabin, while another cabin held betas, and another held alphas in training.

“I never got to tell you that I’m sorry about what happened to Head Omega Jimin. I swear it was not my intention for him to get hurt. I didn’t think he would actually head out into the forest so late at night,” she apologized. You could see the sadness in her eyes at having disappointed the Head Alpha.

“It wasn’t your fault Joyeon. Don’t blame yourself. Jimin sometimes just does what he wants, even when some of those things aren’t necessarily the smartest or the safest,” Jeongguk responded, and his eyes furrowed. It was almost as if he was envisioning Jimin in front of him and he was getting after him, trying to make the other understand.

Joyeon smiled sadly. “You must really love him,” she stated.

Jeongguk smiled then, cheeks blushing slightly, and Joyeon blushed in response. “Yes, more than anything in this world,” he answered, “He makes me feel things I thought I was never capable of feeling. But aish, that omega is going to give me grey hair so early in my life due to me always worrying over him. I’m scared of him getting hurt. I don’t want to lose him.”

“Well if it makes you feel better, I’ll keep an eye on him whenever he’s around. I’ll see to it that he gets any help that he needs,” Joyeon offered, always wanting to please the alpha. It was almost an omega instinct to want to please their Head Alphas, but Joyeon had the most insane crush on the other, that her loyalty was nearly tripled.

Jeongguk smiled in response, “Thank you. I would appreciate that very much.” Joyeon’s smile couldn’t get any brighter at the other’s appraisal.

Their conversation came to a stop as they arrived at the omega training cabin, and Joyeon told the alpha to wait outside while she went in and grabbed a few cloves she had collected just yesterday, after Jimin had asked about them the day prior. Before his attack. Jeongguk patiently waited outside, but it only took the omega a few seconds before she was already exiting the cabin with a small basket in her hands.

“These are the cloves that Head Omega Jimin was looking for that night. Come, I will take you to where they can be found,” she said, and Jeongguk was quick to follow. They headed into the forest.

“So, why was Jimin asking for cloves? He mentioned something about feeling nauseous but I couldn’t quite focus on the reason since I was too busy with him recovering,” Jeongguk asked. He knew Jimin wouldn’t have risked going into the forest that late if the nausea hadn’t been bad enough. How come he hadn’t noticed him having problems? He hated that the omega would hide stuff like this just to not worry him. Well too bad, omega! Now he’s worried!

Joyeon quickly got visibly nervous, but she responded with a stable, clear answer. “Well he had told me he was feeling nauseous recently and he didn’t want to ask Taehyung because he knew the other would worry about it. He came to me because he knew I wouldn’t say anything,” she admitted. She looked down then, not looking into the alpha’s eyes.

Jeongguk put his hand on her shoulder causing Joyeon to instantly calm. “It’s okay Joyeon. I understand. Although I’m your Head Alpha, Jimin is your Head Omega, and if he tells you something in secret, then you respect that. Even though I absolutely hate it,” he told her. Joyeon nodded along, now relieved that the other wasn’t angry at her.

“Since you know a bit more about medicine than I do, what are some reasons why someone gets nauseous?” Jeongguk continued.

Joyeon tensed then, words stuttering a bit and voice coming out hesitantly. “Uh…Uh….well there could be many reasons…” she started, face turning red, and hands gripping the basket. Jeongguk noticed her change in demeanor almost immediately, her scent having turned a little bitter from her usual peaches scent. “Joyeon? Are you okay?” he asked, concern forming for the omega. She looked like she was about to pop from how red she was getting. Her green eyes were looking everywhere but at him.

“Well he probably either ate something bad, or maybe he has a food allergy. Food allergies usually present with gastrointestinal symptoms,” she responded, although it sounded more like she was trying to convince herself, rather than Jeongguk. “That’s probably what it was. He has to be careful from now on. Tell him to watch out for foods that make him sick and to stop eating them.”

Jeongguk nodded, taking the omega’s words in full seriousness. “I will make sure to it. You’re probably right. I’m just such a worry wart I know,” he replied, laughing at his own protectiveness. Joyeon felt jealous then. She wished someone like Jeongguk would care for her as much as he did for Jimin. Well, she wished Jeongguk himself would have fallen for her, but he had never even looked at her in that way. She had learned to live with it.

“No, it’s kind of cute how much you care,” she stated, and she high-fived herself when she noticed she made Jeongguk blush once more at her comment. She wished that blush was directed at her, or because of her. But only a certain blonde omega with honey eyes ever had the pleasure of having his full attention. Joyeon tried not to let her jealousy show.

They continued on their trek through the forest, Joyeon knowing exactly where she was going. Another silence fell upon them, Joyeon still feeling nervous at finally spending time with the alpha, while Jeongguk was somewhere in his head probably worried over Jimin or planning his next move about the attack. He must still be thinking about Kai.

Before she attempted to break the silence, desperate for more conversation from the other, she noticed the trees holding the cloves ahead of them, signaling that they were at their destination. “We’re here alpha. Those are the cloves that Jimin was looking for. Well…I assume he found his way here from what I told him. I’m not actually sure,” she stated.

Jeongguk knelt down, grabbing a piece of clove that had fallen to the ground from the tree, and smelled it. He then proceeded to inhale the air around him, snarling slightly. “Oh, he was definitely here,” he said, body becoming tense. Joyeon then heard him mutter to himself, “Of course he did. Good job baby,” so low she wouldn’t have heard it if they weren’t surrounded by the silence of the forest. She smelled the anger coming off Jeongguk then, startling her from the earlier friendliness she was blessed with.

“And I smell the alpha as well. Its’ scent has basically faded, the beta guards or other alphas would probably miss it, but my heightened smell is picking it up. That bastard,” he snarled. “He must have attacked Jimin while he was busy picking the cloves.”

Joyeon was surprised Jeongguk could still smell the alpha’s scent, her nose not picking up anything. Just the smell of the forest. Yet again, Head Alphas were blessed with strong noses, ideal for hunting. She could sense Jeongguk getting riled up, body tensing, and scent turning sour. “Alpha, calm down. Jimin is now safe. Don’t worry please. Do you think you can follow the scent?” she asked, hoping the other would calm. She wanted more of his smiles.

“The scent has long since faded, so I don’t know for how long I’ll be able to follow the scent. His smell is the strongest here, so its leading me to believe he was here for a while. Probably waiting for Jimin to show,” he said, venom dripping through his tone. “That must mean the alpha knew Jimin was coming.”

Joyeon gasped at the other’s insinuation. “Alpha…are you saying someone from the pack attacked him?” she asked. Jeongguk growled low, and nodded. He stood up from where he was still kneeling, nose upturned to the air, smelling intently. He started walking a little toward the right, his nose driving him forward. Joyeon quickly followed.

“C’mon Joyeon. I think I’m picking up something,” he stated. Joyeon quietly followed behind him, curious. Jeongguk started leading them towards a different part of the forest. “It seems to be leading towards where we found Jimin, near the ravine,” he continued.

“Alpha…now I’m a little confused. Who are you suspecting? I thought Kai was the culprit, was he not?” Joyeon asked, “Isn’t that why he’s captive right now?”

Jeongguk came to a halt, turning to face Joyeon. “Kai is being held captive because he intruded into our lands without permission. He’s a suspect, yes, but he’s a friend of Jimin’s from his pack. He says he’s here for him,” he explained. “I don’t know whether to believe him just yet. Why…do you know something?” he asked, full attention on Joyeon now.

Joyeon shrugged her shoulders passively. “Oh, you know…I wasn’t sure who Kai was, Jin just came to me saying he needed help after attacking Jimin in your cabin. I assumed you all had caught the culprit,” she said. When Jeongguk didn’t say anything in response, eyes instead prompting her to keep to going, she continued, “and… he did say some interesting things while I was treating him…Although now that I think of it, nevermind, it was probably just the fever talking.”

Jeongguk grabbed the omega by her shoulders so tight Joyeon grew a little scared, even though she knew the other would never harm her. “Joyeon what did he say? Whatever you know, tell me!” he demanded.

After seeing the other’s reaction, Joyeon wasn’t so sure whether she should tell him what Kai admitted to her in his delirious state. But alas, Jeongguk was her Head Alpha and a command was to be followed without question. She tried not to let her fear show. “Um…listen alpha…you’re not going to like what I’m about to tell you, so please try to remain calm. We can’t rush into things,” she advised. She could sense Jeongguk was getting restless, scent becoming thicker and causing her omega to want to submit.

“Tell me what you know Joyeon,” he ordered, patience running thin. “I need to know if my Jimin is in danger.”

Joyeon gulped, taking a full breath before she released all the information on the other. “Jin left me to tend to Kai for a moment, to fetch me some more salve, and that’s when Kai started talking to me. He… he was talking about Jimin,” she began, bones chilling with how Jeongguk was staring intently at her. “He was talking about how much he loved Jimin…how much he missed his kisses—”

Jeongguk pushed off her, hands coming to grab at his hair, disbelief in his eyes. “No…no that’s not right. Jimin said they were only friends…there’s no way!” he shouted, anger seeping through.

Joyeon was careful with the words that followed. She knew she was causing the other anger, but she continued. “He was then muttering incoherently about all the things he wanted to do to Jimin…very intimate things…and that he was going to take Jimin away from you since he was his first—”

She noticed Jeongguk was pacing back and forth, visibly upset, but somewhere in the background she could smell the hurt. That’s when she noticed something. “Wait…alpha, once again, I’m confused about all this. I thought you already knew this? Isn’t this why Kai is being held captive—"

Before she finished her thought, Jeongguk released a howl so potent her omega trembled in its wake. She made a mistake.

“I’m going to Tear. Him. Apart.”

Jimin and Taehyung went in immediate search for Jeongguk back at the cabin. The alpha needed to know that Minho was dead. Jimin still refused to believe that Minho had stopped breathing, body finally refusing the last bits of breath the alpha could take to keep him alive. “I’m so sorry Minho,” the omega cried. He turned to look at Taehyung, who looked equally as devastated. “Tae…I can’t help but feel responsible.”

Tears were running down Jimin’s face, hiccups and sniffles sounding off his chest. Why was everything crashing and burning suddenly? Not even two days ago he had been ecstatic about finding out he was pregnant, and now everything was taking a turn for the worst. Except Kai being alive. He was relieved about that at least.

“Minie, don’t start thinking like that. We did the best we could,” Tae consoled him. Jimin’s heart was still hurting, guilt nearly choking him.

“Yeah but if it wasn’t for me then Jeongguk would have never attacked him. And now he wouldn’t be dead,” he cried out.

Taehyung was quick to stop him. “Jimin don’t. Don’t feel like it was your fault for getting attacked. It. wasn’t. your. fault. And don’t feel guilty over Guk protecting you. I would have done the same. For any omega,” Tae explained, being extremely clear with the smaller omega.

Jimin nodded, but he only did it for Taehyung’s sake. He still felt like shit inside.

They reached the Head Jeon’s cabin then, quickly entering to deliver the news to Jeongguk. They needed to discuss further steps and talk about a proper funeral and burial for Minho. Jimin knew Jeongguk was not going to take the news lightly. He was going to feel even worse about it than Jimin. The omega only hoped he wouldn’t drown himself in guilt. Even though he had only done what was right at the time.

“Jeongguk are you in here? Listen, forget about earlier, we really need to tell you—” Jimin started, only to realize there was no response in their cabin. He looked around, noticing Jeongguk wasn’t anywhere to be seen. He would have already smelled Jimin’s stress from a mile away honestly. Hence his lack of presence meant he wasn’t here, or anywhere near for that matter.

“Where is he?” Tae wondered next to him.

“I don’t know. I left him here not that long ago. He probably went out to the forest to blow off some steam. We had an argument earlier and neither of us was really compromising, so I left him before we would say things we would later regret,” Jimin explained. His omega whined at the reminder.

Tae looked at him with sadness. “Jiminie, I know a lot has happened today. You know, with Kai…and now with Minho. But you need to be careful. Stress ain’t going to do you any good. You’re pregnant Minie, and you need to watch out for your pup’s health. And yours,” he advised, hand wrapping around Jimin’s in comfort. “You need to take a break. And you need to tell Guk that you’re expecting his pup. He deserves to know already so that these types of arguments don’t occur in the future. He can’t protect what he doesn’t know exists.”

Jimin knew. Everything Tae was telling him was right. “I know…but at first I wasn’t sure whether I was pregnant, and now everything has happened so fast I haven’t had time to tell him yet. Everything…gosh I haven’t even had a chance to breathe today. And now…with Minho’s death I don’t know if it’s really the right time.”

Taehyung looked like he wanted to argue, but before he could even utter a word, Jin entered through the front door. He looked relieved to see the omega. He rushed forward, quick words falling out of his mouth. “Jimin! Oh my god, are you okay?” he asked, worried, “I ran into Jeongguk and he told me you guys had a fight, and Jimin that can’t be good for your pup! Which by the way, why haven’t you told him yet?! I almost accidently told him!”

Jimin felt instant fear. “Hyung! Did he find out? Oh god no—” This wasn’t how Jimin wanted the other to find out. He had already planned everything out, wanting to reveal the pregnancy over a romantic date. No, no, no.

Jin shushed him quickly, probably having sensed Jimin’s scent turning bitter. “No, he doesn’t know yet. Please don’t stress. Breathe,” he instructed, hand rubbing soothing circles over Jimin’s lower back.

“Hyung, where is Jeongguk? You said you saw him. Where did he go?” Jimin asked the other. They needed to find Jeongguk, quick.

“He left with Joyeon to go searching for cloves. He wanted Joyeon to show him where you were that night when you went searching for cloves for your nausea. Joyeon was going to tell him what happened.” Jin answered.

Jimin felt his bones chill. “Shit. Hyung, do you think Joyeon figured out I could be pregnant? And if so, do you think she would tell Jeongguk?” His stress levels once again started to rise.

“Jimin calm down will you? This is what happens when you don’t tell your mate things!” he chastised, and Jimin saddened in shame. Jin exhaled. “Ok I shouldn’t have said that considering everything that has happened. Sorry Jiminie.”

Jimin shook his head in disagreement. “No hyung, no need to apologize. What you said is technically true. I promise I’ll tell Jeongguk as soon as time permits. We need to find him first.”

Jin nodded. “Why are you looking for him? Do you need something? You know you could always ask me,” he offered.

Jimin grew sad once again, a feeling that seemed pretty much permanent these last few hours. “We’re looking for him because something happened with Minho.”

Jin put his full attention on him then, waiting to see what the smaller omega had to say. He spoke before Jimin could finish, “Why? Is he awake? Does he have news to tell us? What does he remember?”

Jimin felt a tear fall from his eyes once again and Jin immediately grew worried. “No hyung, he isn’t awake. He’s dead.”

Kai would come in and out of consciousness, his body still numb. At least the pain wasn’t so overbearing anymore. Whatever that omega that had visited him had given him was working. He doesn’t remember much of what had happened after he’d been put into the cell he was currently in. His fever had been relentless, making him delirious. Damn Head Alphas for having such potent, and potentially lethal, bites.

He does remember dreaming about a life he wished he had, the fever laughing in his face for being so hopeless. He dreamt about Jimin being his mate, about being able to kiss the other and the beautiful omega responding. He dreamt about them in more intimate situations, being so in love with each other that his heart wanted to burst from his chest. He knew he was being ridiculous; knew this would never happen in real life, but he could only ever dream. Always wishing that life hadn’t played him so cruelly.

He looked around his cell, noticing it was more like a room with metal bars as the door. The bed was soft underneath him, and he almost laughed at how they actually provided beds to their prisoners. Jeons were so weird.

Now that his head didn’t want to explode at any potential movement, he sat up. He noticed his thirst first, body finally coming alive and asking to be quenched. He looked around and noticed there was a pitcher with water laying in the mini table next to the bed. And they provided water?! Ha!

He quickly gulped down the water, body instantly feeling better as the freshness descended down his throat. He noticed there were no guards outside his cell, and that surprised him. Did they really believe he wouldn’t escape? Whatever, he’ll enlighten them this time.

His mind came to Jimin, wondering where the omega was. Had he come to see him? Was he even allowed to? By what he had seen of Jeongguk, he assumed the other would rather die than let Jimin visit him. He would have probably done the same. No matter how much he wanted to despise the other alpha, he couldn’t help but respect him for having taken care of Jimin all this time he was in a coma. Even if it hurt his pride, made his gut wrench in envy, he had to thank him for making sure Jimin was okay while he was gone.

As he continued to look around him, he couldn’t help but wonder. Why did they imprison him? He knew he trespassed, but wasn’t this a little overboard? His mind came back to the fight with Jeongguk.

Now that he remembered, the raging alpha had mentioned something about him attacking his mate, in this case, Jimin?

Had Jimin been attacked?

Shit. Talk about terrible timing. They must now think he had something to do with it. This was certainly not good.

He couldn’t help but worry now. Someone out there had attacked his Jimin. His alpha whined at the thought of the petite omega being attacked and him not being here to prevent it. If only he had ran faster. Maybe he would have made it in time.

His head was automatically filled with Jimin. The omega had only gotten even more beautiful with time. He didn’t think it was even possible. The omega’s blonde hair was shiny and soft, a little sun-kissed at the tips. His skin was glowing, smooth, and clear. So deliciously milky that he wanted to sink his teeth into it. Lips still as luscious as ever. You can’t think like this anymore!

Jimin’s scent was also sweeter, his usual honey vanilla smelling even more sugary, as if he were in heat. But he obviously wasn’t. As he recalled his initial encounter with Jimin, he remembered Jimin had smelled different. There was a tint of pine, that meshed so well with his vanilla. He had never smelled that on the omega, not even when the other had gone into his heats. His alpha screamed in denial when he came to a conclusion—the wolf in him tortured at the realization.

Jimin was pregnant.

His wolf knew it all along, but he refused to acknowledge it. Pretending it wasn’t true. It was no wonder Jeongguk reacted like he did. Not only was he protecting his mate, but he was also defending his pup. He had never envied anybody in his life as much as he envied Jeongguk at that moment. The Head Alpha would get to have a pup with Jimin. There really was no hope for him anymore. Jimin was completely someone else’s.

Shouts coming from outside of the cabin brought him out of his thoughts. His alpha stirred to alertness, ready to pounce if needed. What was going on?

“Let me through! I demand you to let me in!” Kai heard loud and clear. He was about to get up to check on what was happening outside—although from inside his cell we wouldn’t be able to see much—when he heard a loud crash. Did someone just kick down the door?

Then he smelled it. The same thick scent of pine burning with an anger so deep it rattled his bones. Head Alpha Jeon.

Before he had another chance to breathe, Jeongguk was already at his prison cell, hands gripping the bars to his cell so strongly Kai thought he was going bend them open. He could swear they were already starting to. Jeongguk’s eyes were burning red, and Kai could sense that the alpha was there to kill.

“What is your problem? You could have at least knocked,” he said. Honestly, he was shit scared right now, but one of his defense mechanisms was humor. Besides he wasn’t about to let Jeongguk know that he was scared. “Did the poor alpha have a lover’s quarrel? Did Jimin get angry at you? I bet he did, didn’t he? I know Jiminie well and he wouldn’t stand for you locking me up.” He knew he was only causing Jeongguk more anger, but he couldn’t help it. It was fun poking at the head alpha.

“You better shut your mouth before I shut it for you,” Jeongguk warned. “You are incredibly lucky these bars are in the way because otherwise you would already be dead.” Kai could see that the alpha wasn’t giving up, metal bars continuing to bend under the other’s force. Kai was honestly impressed.

“Why don’t you just get your little minions in here to unlock the cell huh? Then we can fight like real alphas. Did you want to make a dramatic entrance? Was kicking down the door not enough?” he continued to taunt. He was nearly shitting his pants at this point, but he kept up with his façade.

“The guards outside are knocked out. Nothing was going to keep me away from getting to you. Except these stupid bars,” Jeongguk snarled, “Did you think I wouldn’t find out? That you want Jimin all to yourself? Huh? Jimin told me you were friends, but now I know that you were lovers before the attack. Do you hate me? For taking him from you? Answer me!” Jeongguk shouted, arms pulling and pulling at the bars. Kai was starting to see red dripping down the bars, and he figured the head alpha’s hands were bleeding with the force. Jeongguk didn’t seem to even notice in his rage.

Lovers? What? “What are you talking about?” he genuinely wondered. “Jimin and I were never lovers.”

Jeongguk growled. “Don’t you dare lie to me! There’s no point!” he continued, “Is that why you’re here? To take Jimin away from me? Did you attack him in the forest so you could kidnap him?!”

Kai’s jaw dropped. What in the world? “First of all, I would never attack Jimin. I would rather die. Second, we have never been lovers. Jimin has never responded to my affections. And third, you better stop doubting Jimin’s loyalty and honesty before I fucking rip your throat out.”

“Stop lying to me! Joyeon told me about what you said—”

“Woah! Is she who was treating me? Are you fucking serious?! I was delirious for crying out loud!” Kai retaliated, “I wish that Jimin and I were ever lovers. I wish that Jimin ever gave me the light of day. I wish that Jimin was my mate. And I certainly wish that Jimin were to be expecting my pup instead of yours! But I wish and wish and only keep on wishing!”

There was silence at the other end of the cell. Kai’s eyes were red now, angry at how the other was behaving. How dare Jeongguk question Jimin’s affections towards him? He should feel lucky and honored that the omega chose him as a mate! What he would give to be in the head alpha’s position!

Jeongguk stood still, hands finally stopping their pulling at the bars. He had a doubtful look on his face, as if he was deliberating whether Kai was playing around with him or not. His voice shook when he spoke. “What did you just say?” he asked, and his eyes were finally started to turn brown, the adrenaline and anger from earlier turning into disbelief and fear. Deep inside those brown irises, there was also hope.

To say Kai was surprised would be an understatement. Why was he surprised? He took one more look at Jeongguk. Oh my god…he didn’t know…he really didn’t know Jimin was pregnant. Oh, this was rich.

“What are you talking about Kai!” Jeongguk demanded. “Jimin is not pregnant. He would have told me if he was,” he argued. He wanted to smack the smirk off Kai’s face so bad.

“You seriously didn’t know?” Kai laughed out, “How you didn’t manage to smell it on him is beyond me. You Jeon wolves are so weird.”

Jeongguk snarled at him, anger starting to overtake his features once again. “Shut up! You don’t know anything!”

Kai only continued to be more amused. “Of course I know. I’ve known Jimin my entire life…Although I’m not sure why Jimin hasn’t told you. I pretty much figured it out as soon as I smelled him and eventually put two and two together. Wow. And I’m not even his mate,” he gloated. Ok maybe he was taunting the other at this point, but Kai couldn’t help it. He loved having an upper-hand over the head alpha when it came to Jimin.

Jeongguk was having an internalized battle in his head, angry at Kai for humiliating him this way and hurt by Jimin for not telling him about his pregnancy. Assuming it was even true. Regardless of how surprised he was right now, something inside him told him he knew it all along. He was aching to go seek the omega. A pup? He was going to be a father? His heart instantly started beating faster, butterflies forming in his stomach.

Kai observed the other alpha—watched as different emotions overtook Jeongguk’s features—but mainly disbelief over the delivered news, and he almost, almost felt bad for spilling it just to hurt the alpha. “Yes, Jeongguk. Jimin is pregnant. With your pup.”

Something in Jeongguk broke then.

Chapter Text

Find omega! Quickly! Run!

Jeongguk was running as fast as his legs would allow him, eyes bleeding red, and canines out. His alpha was on overdrive, many feelings running through his mind and soul. He was running with a destination in mind, set on finding Jimin and demanding an explanation. Find mate! Protect pup!

Jeongguk was going to be a father. He was going to have a pup with his Jiminie. He still couldn’t believe it. The alpha in him sparked to life, wanted to let the whole village know that he was the most proud, happy alpha in the entire world. Because his beautiful mate was going to give him his first pup. But why hadn’t Jimin told him yet? For how long had the other known about being pregnant?

There had to be a reason why Jimin hadn’t told him about his pup yet. His heart ached, brain trying to comprehend as to why he didn’t notice it earlier either. Why couldn’t he smell his pup? He felt like such a terrible alpha.

As soon as Kai had told him about his pup, his alpha had nearly lost it. He couldn’t believe that someone like Kai knew about his own pup before he did. Life was so cruel at times. It hurt him more than he let on; but he was unwilling to let Kai know that his heart felt so heavy, both with hurt and joy. A weird combination of feelings, and Jeongguk was having a hard time trying to determine which weighed heavier.

“So…are you going to continue on your quest to demolish me or?..” Kai had disrupted Jeongguk’s thoughts. For a moment Jeongguk forgot what he had being doing, the thought of his pup enveloping his mind entirely. As he had laid his eyes upon Kai again, the other looking at him in slight chagrin, he had been reminded of the anger he held inside.

And he had retaliated, his alpha desperate in wanting to slap Kai’s smirk off his face. “You know what’s funny Kai?” he jeered, “The thing is…you might have known that Jimin was pregnant before I did, but guess what? That pup is mine.” He had made sure that he was looking straight into Kai’s eyes, his own brown orbs full of mirth, and his own lips pulled into a smirk. “I made love to Jimin…slowlydeliciously…or was it fast and rough?...hmm Jimin enjoys both…he was lost completely to pleasure…only for me to see…and man did I enjoy it…and now, he’s pregnant with my pup.”

Kai had fallen silent then, his confidence from earlier long gone. Jeongguk had continued to rub in the wound, his alpha enjoying the power he had over the other at the moment. “And that’s not even the icing on the cake my fellow Kai. Guess what?” he had continued, completely merciless towards the other, “I get to do it again. And again. And again. Because he’s my mate. So, who’s the real winner now?”

Jeongguk had left right after that, leaving a completely defeated Kai behind.

Now he was on his way towards their cabin, desperate to find Jimin. He needed explanations. Now.

He was trying really hard to maintain his alpha in control the best he could, he didn’t want to be too crazy when he found Jimin. His heart hurt. He was angry at Jimin, but he was also angry at himself. He should have known Jimin was pregnant. He should have been able to smell his pup. Did that make him a bad alpha?

He reached their cabin in no time, body anxious to get inside. He could smell Jimin inside, along with two other omegas. Jimin’s scent was slightly bitter, as if he was stressed greatly about something. Had something happened? Mate! Protect! Now with more desperation than earlier, he rushed to open the door, not even bothering to be subtle about it, door slamming wide open.

He was quick to notice Jimin first. The omega was sitting on their bed, looking so sad and fragile, eyes red-rimmed. Had he been crying? His alpha screamed in its desire to envelop the other, wanting to protect, protect, protect. Taehyung and Jin were also inside, not at all surprised Jeongguk had suddenly barged in like a madman. The omegas took one last look at Jimin and Jin said, “Don’t worry about what happened. You and Guk need to talk. I’ll take care of…you know.”

Jeongguk didn’t even pay any attention to the omegas, rushing forward to the only person who ever held 100% of his attention. His Jimin. Jin and Taehyung exited the cabin, providing the couple the space they needed to work things out.

“Jimin, omega, please tell me you’re okay. What happened? Why are you crying? Baby, what happened?” the alpha asked desperately, checking all over Jimin, assuring the other wasn’t harmed in any way. Jimin was quick to grab his arms, stopping him in his crazy perusal. He grabbed onto Jeongguk’s face, eyes full of love.

“Guk, I’m okay. Please calm down alpha,” he said soothingly, hands continuing to caress the alpha’s face. Jeongguk felt his heart heavy ten-fold now; hurt, confusion, and a whole lot of other feelings mixing upon seeing his mate.

Jimin quickly noticed the torment in Jeongguk’s head, his eyes held a pain Jimin had never seen before in the alpha. His omega whined in sorrow. Jeongguk knew. He knew. And Jimin hated himself now knowing he was the cause of the other’s anguish.

“Jeongguk, baby, what happened to you? Why are you shaking? Why are your hands full of blood? Guk, what happened?” he asked, now inspecting the alpha’s hands, dried blood on his palms. The torn skin underneath was already healing, but that didn’t stop Jimin from quickly licking over the wounds, hating to see his mate hurt. Jeongguk let him, but Jimin could tell the wounds were the last thing on the alpha’s mind. “Alpha? My heart is breaking seeing you like this,” he cried, fear settling in his bones. His heart was hurting at the other’s emotional pain. He felt like such a terrible mate.

Jimin knew what Jeongguk would say before he said it. It still didn’t make it any less painful.

“Is it true? Please Jiminie, tell me. Is it true?” the alpha wailed, his red eyes mixing with brown, and Jimin knew Jeongguk was trying his hardest not to lose control. It only continued breaking his heart.

“Yes,” he whispered, his own eyes overwhelmed with tears, but a smile forming on his face. Gosh they were such a mess. “Yes, alpha, we’re going to have a pup.” His voice was coming out shaky, at both excitement for the future, but sadness for the way things played out.

Jeongguk jumped on him the next second, completely catching Jimin off guard. The alpha pulled him into a hug, his body completely relaxing, and a sigh escaping his lips. He hugged Jimin tight, his face finding purchase in the omega’s neck, inhaling in his scent. Jimin heard the alpha whisper into his neck, his body crushing Jimin with all his strength, “Oh my god. There it is. I can smell you now my beautiful pup.”

Jimin could hear Jeongguk’s anguish as the other muttered to himself, and felt it too, through the bond they had as mates. Jeongguk was sniffling, nose circling Jimin’s mate mark, while continuing to utter, “I can smell you now my pup. Appa is here.”

The omega could hear the love and affection in the other’s tone, words spoken so soft, that Jimin’s heart broke in a different way. Jimin could feel his sweater getting wet, Jeongguk’s tears pooling in his neck, the alpha completely overtaken with emotion.

After a few long minutes—once Jeongguk’s tears were long dry—he finally left Jimin’s neck to look into the omega’s eyes. Jimin could see the hurt in his mate’s eyes. He brought his hand to the alpha’s face, softly caressing the other’s cheeks, wishing that Jeongguk never had had to suffer. “I’m so, so, sorry Jeongguk. The last thing I wanted was to hurt you. I promise I was going to tell you—”

The alpha shook his head. “No, Jimin. I want you to forgive me. I’m sorry omega, for not having been able to smell our pup. I should have known—” Jeongguk was then holding on to Jimin’s face as well, desperate in his pleas. “Please Jimin forgive me—”

Jimin couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Guk, love, why are you apologizing? I should have told you I was pregnant as soon as I found out. Me. I messed up.” He could sense Jeongguk was about to argue against him, but he shut the alpha down before he got a word out. “No listen to me alpha. I was planning on telling you. I had it all planned out already, it was going to be perfect…but everything that has happened—I couldn’t find the right time—I’ve only known for a couple days myself. Please Jeongguk, I’m sorry. I should have just told you—”

Jeongguk shushed him, hands wiping the tears that were freely falling down Jimin’s face. Both were full of emotion. “Jimin, baby, it’s okay. I understand. A lot has happened to you these past few days…I just want you to be okay. I want our pup to be safe. I’m sorry for not realizing it sooner Jiminie, I’m such a terrible mate—”

“No! Don’t say that!” Jimin argued, his hands now finding purchase in Jeongguk’s hair, fingers soothing the other’s scalp. “Alpha, you’re the best mate I could ever ask for. I love you so much it hurts sometimes. And before you start again with this nonsense, you did know I was pregnant. The alpha in you knew. You mentioned to me way long before that I smelled different, you just didn’t know what it meant. We weren’t expecting to be getting pregnant so soon, so you can’t really see when you aren’t actually looking. But you knew. Deep down your alpha knew. That’s why you’ve been acting so protective lately, that’s why your alpha is constantly alert, because you were protecting our pup. Jeongguk, I love you, please don’t question yourself alpha.”

Jeongguk crushed his lips to Jimin’s. It was hard and fast, but it took Jimin’s breath away. The alpha pulled away to look into Jimin’s eyes, and the omega could see the undying love in those chocolate brown eyes. “Jimin, I love you. So much, that sometimes I question whether I truly deserve you,” Jeongguk confessed, but Jimin shook his head in disagreement, planting another quick kiss on the alpha’s lips.

Jeongguk pulled Jimin back in before he could go too far, and gave the omega another kiss, this one setting off the fire in Jimin’s veins. “Let’s forget about everything. Please. Let’s just enjoy the fact that you’re pregnant. You have my pup inside of you Jiminie…omega you have made me incredibly happy,” Jeongguk continued in between his nipping of Jimin’s lips, unrelenting in his desire for the omega.

Jimin just hummed in pleasure, happiness furling in his stomach, the emotion finally weighing out all the other ones. This is how he imagined the reveal to be; full of love and happiness. He was glad they figured things out. He wanted to enjoy this moment. “Yes alpha, this pup is yours. You have us entirely,” he purred, his wolf completely over the moon about their mate claiming them so lovingly.

Jeongguk growled in response to the omega’s words, and he let go of Jimin’s lips only to push him further on the bed, laying the omega on his back while his hands pulled Jimin’s sweater up to reveal his abdomen. Jimin’s body shuddered at the look on Jeongguk’s eyes. It was full of love and desire.

Jeongguk was right, the omega thought. They should forget everything for the moment. Forget Kai. Forget Minho. Forget about his attack. Forget all the problems. Jimin just wanted to live in this moment with Jeongguk. Now. He wanted to feel the other in him, body and soul. He wanted Jeongguk entirely.

The alpha settled his face on Jimin’s tummy, his nose circling around, lungs taking in full breaths of Jimin’s scent. And his pup’s scent. “I can smell our pup so clearly now,” he exhaled, hands coming to grab onto Jimin’s hips, “Mmmm, smells like you and me. I’m so happy, I still can’t believe it. Thank you, baby, for taking care of our pup, I promise I’ll protect both of you with my life. God…you smell so good omega.”

He growled when he heard Jimin intake a breath of air, body shivering at his words. His mouth quickly came in contact with the omega’s milky skin, desire fueling him forward, always desperate for the beautiful omega under him. He nipped around Jimin’s belly button and Jimin’s back arched with the intense feeling. “Mine,” he rumbled, tongue now lapping all over Jimin’s abdomen, causing the omega to release helpless whimpers. He still couldn’t quite believe that Jimin had chosen him; he must have saved an entire planet in his past life to have been blessed this way.

He continued his exploration of Jimin’s body, kissing and tasting, his alpha finding immense pleasure at the way Jimin was responding. The omega was writhing in pleasure already and he was barely getting started. “Tell me, kitten. How were you going to give me the news? Hmmmm…walk me through your plans baby,” he started, and he made quick removal of Jimin’s pants, leaving the other only in his underwear and sweater. He picked one of Jimin’s legs up and started kissing and nipping his way up the omega’s leg.

Jimin was moaning slightly, chest rising and falling quickly, and he opened his eyes to look at Jeongguk. The alpha was grinning at him, clearly enjoying how much Jimin was being affected, and his eyes were turning red, mouth still on Jimin’s skin, kissing and sucking along. The omega moaned at the view. “Well…I was going to make us dinner…” he started, but suddenly his body twitched in pleasure, body betraying him as Jeongguk nipped him on his inner thigh. It felt so good. “I was going to…oh shit…I was…going to l-light up some c-candles—” he moaned, as Jeongguk continued, relentless, on his harsh sucking of his inner thigh, getting closer to his sensitive spot.

“Mmhmmm,” the alpha let out, eyes asking Jimin to keep going. Jimin was having a hard time even thinking now, mind going completely to where the alpha was now nipping on his sensitive spot over his underwear. The sensation was driving him nuts. “Alpha…oh…that feels so good…” he moaned, his hands beside his head grabbing tightly onto the bed sheets.

Jeongguk stopped stimulating his sensitive spot and Jimin nearly whined at the loss. “C’mon baby. Tell me. Keep going,” the alpha demanded, but Jimin only whimpered more when he felt Jeongguk get rid of his underwear, leaving his lower half completely bare.

Why did his alpha always have to make it so hard? His cock was already leaking precum and Jeongguk only continued to smirk at him for being so easy to please. “Please alpha, just touch me. I need you,” he begged, hoping the other would give in. But Jeongguk resisted and Jimin hated the amount of control the alpha could have when it came to teasing him. “Alpha…ngh…I was going to light up candles and h-have a romantic evening w-with you…ah!” he yelped, as Jeongguk finally continued kissing and sucking his skin, getting awfully close to his cock. He suddenly wanted the alpha’s mouth on him, wanted to feel the heat and intense pleasure.

“And after that, I was g-going to tell y-you…that we were e-expecting…ngghh…yes, right there…alpha!” Jimin’s body bucked forward, Jeongguk having taken him in his mouth, the omega’s body completely flushing and Jimin could hear his heart in his ears. His hands tangled tightly in the sheets, body writhing in pleasure, but Jeongguk was quick to hold him down. After a few harsh sucks, he let go of the omega’s cock with a pop, and instead starting licking up and down the shaft, causing Jimin to release loud moans in ecstasy.

Not being one to wait anymore, Jeongguk released the omega’s cock and crawled up Jimin’s body, kissing and licking his way up. “And then, my beautiful omega, you would tell me that you are expecting my pup. That my pup is currently inside you.” He growled. “Look at you being all knocked up. Mine. You are mine.” He reached the top, quickly disposing of Jimin’s sweater, and proceeded to scent the omega. He nipped and kissed at his mating mark, and it was doing insane things to Jimin. He was moaning and whimpering at the alpha’s ministrations, his fingers coming to Jeongguk’s hair, pulling slightly at the strands, lost in immense pleasure.

Slick was coming out in waves now, trailing down his inner thighs, and soaking the sheets underneath. It was almost as if he were in heat, but he wasn’t. He was also pregnant, making heats extremely unlikely now. Jeongguk growled at the smell of the omega’s slick and before Jimin could even blush at his clear sign of arousal, the alpha flipped him over on the bed.

Jimin was now on all fours, and Jeongguk proceeded to push the omega’s upper body down and spread his legs wide open, fully exposing Jimin’s lower half. The omega felt so exposed, blush traveling all the way down to his toes, but at seeing Jeongguk’s eyes blaze with desire and smell his scent becoming thicker, the omega whined and more slick left his entrance. “Fucking hell Jimin. You’ll end up killing me one day,” Jeongguk rasped, voice low and dangerous.

“Guk, please, stop teasing me already—fuck!” Jimin suddenly screamed, feeling a burn so intense at his entrance that he knew that Jeongguk had just taken a huge bite of his rim muscle. The alpha was now delivering harsh sucks on his rim, tongue lapping at the slick ruthlessly. Jimin tasted incredibly sweet, honey and vanilla, and it was driving Jeongguk insane.

Jimin’s head was spinning at the fiery pleasure he was feeling in his ass, Jeongguk’s tongue now prodding past the muscle, completely immersed in pleasuring his mate. The omega’s back arched off the bed, pretty and strained, fingers gripping onto the sheets below him. He couldn’t believe he was already feeling the impending arrival of his orgasm.

“Fuck, I’m s-so c-close, please don’t stop.” His butt instinctively pushed back onto Jeongguk, but the alpha grabbed tightly onto his ass, stopping him and instead only spreading his cheeks further open. He greedily shoved his tongue in further, relishing in his mate’s quivers and gasps. “J-Jeongguk—shit—I’m—I’m–”

Jimin came with a silent scream, back arching so intensely he thought he would break. Jeongguk drew back, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, fingers sliding across the slick still pooled at the omega’s entrance. He brought two fingers to Jimin’s mouth, the other still slightly dazed from orgasm, but Jimin’s instant compliance fueled his desire to make Jimin come again and again. Until every single person knew Jimin was taken, and Jungkook had no intention of letting him go.

Jimin instantly took his fingers into his mouth, swirling his tongue around the digits, sucking in his cheeks. Jeongguk felt his dick throb at the sight of Jimin moaning lewdly around his fingers, over the taste of himself.

“Please, Guk, I need you,” Jimin whined even when he was still shaking with the last trembles of his orgasm, even when Jeongguk flipped him back over to his back and dragged his hand up Jimin’s hardening length and he whimpered with oversensitivity.

“Listen to yourself baby…you’re so desperate…are you sure you’re not in heat?” the alpha teased, sucking a bruise into the soft skin under Jimin’s sharp jawline. His hands traveled up Jimin’s lithe body and his wolf growled with how the omega’s body reacted to his touch, pliant and obedient.

“Alpha, please…I want – I want…” Jimin tried to speak but couldn’t, since Jeongguk had slipped his tongue into his mouth to curl around his own, lightly biting his bottom lip and sucking on his tongue. This alpha was going to be the death of him. The omega in him keened every time his mate would show such a display of dominance.

“Hmm, what do you want? Tell me, kitten. You want more pups? Huh? You want to get knocked up again?” the alpha teased but Jimin only kissed him harder, like he was deprived.

Jimin was breathing harshly when Jeongguk pulled back, taking his earlobe between his teeth, sucking the tender skin behind his ear. It was like Jimin was torn between saying his desires and just taking it for himself. “Guk, please, I want you.”

Jeongguk licked his lips, flicking his gaze down to the mess Jimin was already making. Fuck. “Baby, you’re so wet for me. Again. Jesus, I’m going to meet my end with you.”

He continued abusing the sensitive area on Jimin’s neck, the other almost ripping through the thin sheets with his nails, mewling in pleasure, on the brink again. “I want to touch you alpha—please take off your clothes—”

Jeongguk made quick release of his clothes, tossing them behind him and quickly wrapping an arm around Jimin’s waist. He leaned back onto his heels, sitting up, and Jimin followed until he was right on his lap. Jimin’s breath hitched and he buried his face in the crook of Jeongguk’s neck, sucking on his neck, panting heavily, breath hot and quick. “Oh, you smell so good. My alpha. Mine, mine, mine.

Jeongguk made a rumbling sound in his chest, proud that the omega was claiming him. Jimin kissed along his sharp collarbones, teeth scraping across the skin. “Knot me, please,” Jimin whimpered as Jeongguk settled Jimin over his cock.

“I love you so much, kitten. You drive me crazy,” Jeongguk whispered before slamming Jimin abruptly down on his cock, head falling backwards at the tight heat that enveloped him. Jimin was clenching so hard the alpha was sure he could cum then and there. “Fuck. Fuck, you’re tight.”

Jimin was clutching Jeongguk to his body, already beginning to move, working himself open on the alpha’s thick cock. “I’m so full. You’re so—oh my god, I love you.”

Jimin’s head felt light when Jeongguk circled his hips, dragging his dick around Jimin’s walls, brushing right against his prostate without even trying. Jimin ran his hands down Jeongguk’s washboard abs, the other’s muscles reacting to his touch. His ass clenched around Jeongguk’s cock and the alpha arched his back, willing himself to stay in control and not fall tempted to the sweet, addicting scent of Jimin’s arousal and pound his omega carelessly into the mattress.

Jimin fucked himself desperately, filthy moans spilling from his lips, a thin sheen of sweat across his fair skin. Jeongguk helped his jerky thrusts, lifting his hips to meet him, rubbing circles encouragingly on his waist and occasionally sliding his palm across his cock.

He loved it when Jimin rode him – he could ogle at the muscles in his thighs, the clench of his stomach, the pleasure shifting through his expression. Jimin had his eyes closed, teeth sinking into his full bottom lip, cheeks red and hair matted to his forehead.

“Guk, alpha –” Jimin cut himself off with a sharp moan as Jeongguk pushed forward and rolled Jimin onto his back again, his large frame completely enveloping the other. He continued pounding into the omega, hips thrusting deep. Jimin looked absolutely wrecked, eyes tearing at the constant pressure on his prostate.

Jeongguk felt a deep purr in his chest and he gripped Jimin’s hips tighter, only half conscious of the bruises he’d leave. “I’m going to fuck you until you don’t remember anything but my name, kitten. Going to knock you up again.”

Jimin bit his lip and whimpered at the promise. “Alpha—oh my god—ah, ah—”

Jeongguk grabbed Jimin’s knee and hooked it over his shoulder, almost bending Jimin in half. The position allowed his cock to slide in further, hit at a slightly different angle, leaving Jimin breathless. The alpha turned his head to mouth into the skin of Jimin’s thigh, soft and smooth, leaving a trail of marks that would be there for days, reminding Jimin of who he belonged to.

He continued until he reached the omega’s lips, mouth instantly latching on and he kissed him, tongue and teeth, hot and messy. Jimin moaned into his mouth before trying to work himself on Jeongguk’s cock, hole squeezing. “Alpha… knot me.”

Jeongguk drew back until just the tip was inside before thrusting forward, watching Jimin fall apart beneath him, mouth open and lips wet and red. He fucked into Jimin fast and rough, teeth dragging across his chest, hands pinning Jimin’s wrists above his head. For a split second Jeongguk wondered if he was being too rough, but Jimin was urging him on with pleas of “more Guk, faster—please, please–“

Jeongguk buried his head in Jimin’s neck, honey vanilla scent filling his senses, causing his hips to move forward faster, chasing his own release. He felt his knot forming, catching on Jimin’s rim. He shoved it inside and gasped at how Jimin’s walls massaged around his cock. He panted harshly at the friction. “Look at you taking my knot when you’re already pregnant. You’re so good to me, baby” he rasped, growling low.

Jimin cried out as the knot rested snug against his prostate, and the size locked their bodies together. Jeongguk resumed his thrusts, just a bit gentler than before. After a few more thrusts Jimin was coming undone for the second time. He let out a whine that was broken and high, the tight coil in his stomach reaching its limit. White ropes spurted between their torsos, his eyes rolling back, toes curling in pleasure and body quivering as the aftershocks racked through his body.

Jimin’s walls wrapped around Jeongguk’s pulsing cock so tightly the alpha came a handful of thrusts later, the orgasm so intense his vision darkened for a few seconds. He lazily continued to fuck Jimin through his orgasm, moaning into the crook of his neck and nipping at the skin. Jimin’s eyes fluttered closed as he was filled to the brim with the alphas’s release, some of it seeping past the knot and trickling down his inner thighs.

It took a few minutes for them to come down from their high, that post-sex lethargic haze settling in. Jeongguk carefully laid on his side as they were still locked together, allowing Jimin to curl into his sturdy frame, clingy and seeking as much contact as possible. “You feeling okay baby? Is the pup okay? Maybe I was too rough—”

Jimin smiled. “We are more than fine. You never have to worry about hurting us Guk. You never could,” the omega assured him.

Jeongguk lightly pushed Jimin’s soft hair out of his eyes, fingers caressing the soft skin. “I’m so happy I get to call you mine.”

“Guk, alpha, I’m still so sorry I didn’t tell you I was pregnant right away. I'm also sorry about getting angry at you earlier over Kai. I swear I wasn't actually going to leave you alone for the night. You’re too nice to me—”

The alpha quickly put a finger to Jimin’s mouth, immediately silencing the other. “Let’s leave all that in the past, please. Let’s only think about the future. You…me…and our pup.” He kissed Jimin on the forehead before he brought his arms over the other, hugging him tight against his body. “Let’s sleep. You must be tired.”

Jimin smiled and closed his eyes, feeling safe in his alpha’s arms. He was about to start visiting dreamland, when he remembered something extremely important. He looked at Jeongguk, the other barely on the verge of falling asleep. The omega nudged him slightly, the other immediately opening his eyes, body on alert. “Guk, hey, something happened earlier. You’re not going to like it.”

The next morning they proceeded with Minho’s funeral and burial. Jeongguk had been devastated last night when Jimin told him Minho had passed, and Jimin cuddled the other repeating to him that it wasn’t his fault. The omega fought extremely hard in keeping Jeongguk from visiting the healer’s cabin right then, since Tae and Jin were probably getting Minho ready for burial. Jimin knew the alpha was feeling extreme guilt over the situation, but he reminded the other that he was protecting his mate and pup, and he had only acted accordingly.

They buried Minho in the cemetery where other villagers had been buried, including Jeongguk’s parents. Jeongguk’s omega mother had passed away from a sickness that had no cure. It slowly took her away, the Head Omega taking her last breath when Jeongguk was about 11 years old. Jeongguk’s alpha father, the Jeon Head Alpha, was heartbroken. He started slowly drifting away as well, unable to go on without his mate. He told Jin that his sole purpose in life now was to prepare Jeongguk for becoming the next Head Alpha. Jin knew even then that Jeongguk was destined for greatness.

You will become a very powerful Head Alpha, Jeongguk. I can already tell that you are going to be extremely happy. You will find your mate, Guk. Cherish them. I’ll be protecting you from above my dear baby alpha. Your eomma and I love you very much.

Those had been the Head Alpha’s last words, and ever since Jeongguk made sure that he was the best possible Head Alpha he could be. He wanted to make his parents proud.

“I’m very sorry Minho. I think I know now that life played you unfair. I promise I will find the true culprit so that your soul can rest in peace. I hope you can forgive me from above,” Jeongguk whispered to the tombstone, Jimin’s head laying on his shoulder, hugging the alpha’s arm tight, trying to provide as much comfort to the other as possible. Jimin knew that Jeongguk was not feeling so great about the whole situation. He hated when Jeongguk would think everything gone wrong was always his fault. But that was the Head Alpha’s life.

The two had been left behind after Minho’s burial had been finished, the others giving them time to say goodbye to the fallen alpha. Jeongguk and Jimin stood next to the tombstone for a couple of minutes, hoping things would have been different. That the outcome would have been different.

“Let’s go get some answers,” Jeongguk said, so out of the blue that Jimin gave out a little jump, startled.

“What do you mean?” the omega asked, confused as to what the alpha was referring to. Jeongguk let out a sigh.

“I’m going to allow it. Let’s go talk to Kai.”

“Well look who decided to revisit,” Kai started, upon seeing Jeongguk entering the prison cabin. “I got to admit, Head Alpha, you really hurt me when you left,” he continued, smirking at the other, loving when he could get a reaction from Jeongguk.

Before he could continue to taunt the Head Alpha, he smelled it. He quickly got up from his bed, taking large steps towards the door, hands grabbing the now slightly bent bars, his demeanor taking a complete 360 from seconds earlier. “Jiminie! You came,” he let out in relief, smile now forming on his face.

The omega then appeared in front of him, smile also evident on his face upon seeing him. “Kai! How are you doing? Are you still hurt? I swear I wanted to come earlier, but a lot has happened—”

Kai’s arms went past the bars, hands finding purchase on Jimin’s cheeks, “It’s okay Jiminie. I know that a certain someone has kept you from coming—” His arms were suddenly smacked away, Jimin now hidden behind a very annoyed Head Alpha.

“Don’t test me,” he threatened, “I only allowed Jimin to come here after he managed to convince me in a moment of weakness. He knows it’s impossible to say no to him when he looks completely sinning after a long night of hot passionate sex—”

He was suddenly shoved away, Jimin finally revealed behind him, his entire face red. “Guk! Stop! This is so embarrassing!” the omega argued, ears bright red. If Kai wasn’t completely heartbroken over the obvious smell of last night’s events on his precious Jiminie, he would have smiled over the omega’s adorable blushing.

Jimin’s eyes were shooting daggers at the Head Alpha, but Jeongguk just shrugged in nonchalance, loving every moment he could point out the fact that Jimin was his. Kai didn’t blame him. He would have done the same if Jimin were actually his. But he wasn’t.

“It’s ok Jiminie. I see that you guys made up. I have to admit…I was just a tiny bit worried there for a second that I had ruined things between you. I could care less about this stupid alpha, but I never want to hurt you Jimin. So forgive me,” he apologized, always falling victim to Jimin’s beautiful honey eyes.

At first Jimin looked confused, but was quick to catch on. “Oh…you were the one that told Jeongguk that I was pregnant…how? did you know?” the omega wondered.

Kai smiled. “I always know my dear Jiminie.”

Jeongguk very obviously cleared his throat then, so hard that Kai was surprised he didn’t choke for being so exaggerating. He got it. Don’t flirt with Jimin. But it was insanely difficult when Jimin was this cute!

“Can we please get to the point?” the alpha asked, slight irritation evident on his face. “Why are you here Kai? And don’t you even dare lie to me. We want answers. One of our pack members is now dead, and he was our only lead to Jimin’s attack.”

Kai immediately grew serious. His suspicious were correct then. Jimin had been attacked. “Look, I now that I am probably your number one suspect right now, but I swear I had no idea Jimin had been attacked. What the hell happened? Where were you? Why weren’t you protecting him—” he started arguing, anger towards the other for being so careless.

Jeongguk growled at the insinuation, ready for attack, but Jimin was quick to interject before things escalated and they would never arrive at any answers. He held Jeongguk back, and for the first time, he gave Kai a pointed look. So this was a protective Jimin.

“You don’t know what happened Kai, so please refrain from throwing stupid insinuations at my mate,” the omega chastised, “It was my fault.” Jeongguk looked ready to argue, but Jimin shut him down before he could start blaming himself for everything. “No, its true Guk. I shouldn’t have gone alone to the forest at night. I was being reckless,” he continued.

The omega proceeded to tell Kai about everything that had happened ever since his attack, right up to Kai’s arrival and Minho’s death. “You need to tell me everything you know Kai. What happened after the fire? Were there any other survivors?” Jimin asked, wanting to know everything.

Jeongguk came up behind Jimin and brought his arms around the petite male, bringing the smaller a comfort he didn’t know he even needed until then. His mate always knew.

Kai smiled sadly in response to the other’s question. “I wish I could tell you what you wanted to hear Jiminie, but unfortunately I can’t. I really don’t know much of what happened after the fire. I woke up from the coma not long ago, and other than finding out you could still be alive from Head Alpha Choi, I haven’t heard of anyone else possibly having survived the attack. But yet again, I haven’t necessarily looked either. I came straight to you. You are now my Head Omega, Jimin. And I also made a promise to your parents.”

Jimin smiled at the reminder of his parents, always so caring for him, even from above. He missed them incredibly. “It’s okay now Kai. I’m well and you have found me. I’m glad you’re alive as well. I missed you.”

Kai smiled. Jimin could hear Jeongguk letting out slight snarls next to his ear, but the omega looked at him in warning. You know I’m yours you dumb possessive alpha, he argued with his eyes and Jeongguk seemed to understand his message, the other only rolling his eyes in annoyance.

“I know you would never hurt me Kai, so I don’t think you were responsible for my attack,” the omega continued, “but do you know of anyone who could want to hurt me? Jeongguk and some alphas have already searched the entire pack and even around the forest for possible feral wolves, but we haven’t arrived at any answers. Minho was our only lead, as I told you, but he unfortunately passed away. We’re…we’re stuck.”

Kai paced around his cell, thinking and thinking. In the background he could hear Jeongguk nuzzling Jimin’s neck, pleading the other not to worry about the attack, that they would figure it out. “It’s not good for the pup, kitten. Please don’t worry,” he pleaded, snuggling further into Jimin’s neck, and hands coming towards Jimin’s flat belly.

“Wait,” Kai interrupted, halting in his pacing. “What if…what if Josong is still alive?”

A visible shudder rolled through Jimin at the mention of the other, body instantly becoming tense. Jeongguk looked confused.

“Jimin? Why are you scared? Who is Josong? Baby, talk to me,” he demanded, hating to see Jimin this way. The omega seemed to be reliving a moment in his head, eyes slightly glazed as a memory played deep in them. “Jiminie! Snap out of it! Baby you’re here, with me, safe. Jimin—” Jeongguk pleaded, hands now slightly shaking the omega, trying to snap the other out of his stupor.

Jimin whimpered in response, finally snapping out of his dark thoughts, and instantly coming forward and wrapping himself around Jeongguk, the alpha immediately wrapping his arms around him, hugging him tightly and burying his face in Jimin’s neck.

Kai immediately regretted mentioning Josong, knowing Jimin wasn’t going to take it lightly, but he was desperate in finding answers for the other. And unfortunately, when he thought of anyone who could want to harm Jimin, Josong was it. He grew angry at the thought that that asshole could still be alive.

Jeongguk looked at Kai then, body still wrapped around Jimin, trying to soothe the other. I need answers. Speak, he read from the Head Alpha’s eyes. Kai sighed. Apparently there was a lot Jeongguk didn’t know about Jimin’s past. He wasn’t surprised. Jimin would have wanted to bury that asshole as far back on his mind as he possibly could.

“Josong…he was an alpha in the Park pack. Let’s say he was…troubled. He had a rough childhood…no one in the pack really ever spoke to him. He was lonely. Until our Jiminie here…he hated seeing people be lonely, so he rapidly became friends with him,” Kai explained. You could tell that Kai was having a hard time talking about Josong as well, clearly disturbed about whatever the other had done. “I always insisted to Jimin that Josong was unstable…that he could snap at any moment. But you know Jimin…he’s so pure…ugh just thinking about it still angers me!” Kai argued, getting upset talking about the disgusting alpha.

Jeongguk growled from where he was still holding Jimin, the omega still visibly shaking in his arms. “What did he do?” he rasped, arms coming tighter around Jimin, “Tell me! What did that bastard do?!” Jeongguk’s scent was growing thicker and thicker in his anger, and Kai felt the power of it slightly take his breath away.

He gulped. “Josong…he fell in love with Jimin. Ultimately that isn’t really that hard to do. Jimin…he’s something else. But…Josong became obsessed. He started getting angry when Jimin wouldn’t hang out with him to hang out with others. He only wanted Jimin’s attention on himself. He started snapping at Jimin over the dumbest things and that’s when Jimin knew he needed to get away from him.”

“When Jimin delivered the news that he no longer wanted to be friends…Josong…he, he—” Kai closed his eyes as memories were assaulting his brain, hating the burn of the reminder of what happened that day.

Jimin whimpered in Jeongguk’s arms then, and the Head Alpha became restless with helplessness. He hated that he couldn’t do anything to take this pain away from Jimin. Hated that he came in too late into the omega’s life.

Kai continued. “Josong was such a bastard. He didn’t take Jimin’s rejection lightly. He…if I wouldn’t have arrived on time that day…he…he would have taken Jimin’s innocence away. I fucking hate—”

“Please tell me you killed the bastard!” Jeongguk growled. “Actually, no. I want that bastard alive so I can tear him limb by limb myself! I want to feed him his own eyes and tongue when I rip them out first for even daring to look at Jimin. I want him to burn in hell!” His eyes were burning bright red, canines coming out, and Kai had to admit he was scared. He knew mated Head Alphas could be extremely dangerous when angered.

“Listen to me Jeongguk! I know you’re angry, trust me I nearly killed that bastard that day. But I was stopped by the pack’s guards just in time before I ripped his heart out. The Head Alpha and Omega gave him duly punishment. Not only was he already practically dead from when I got my hands on him, but the Head Alpha made sure he could never bear children again.”

Jeongguk continued to growl, but Jimin had finally come back to his senses and released himself from Jeongguk’s arms. “Do you really think he could still be alive? Was he out hunting with the alphas that day?” the omega asked, although you could tell he was trying his hardest to contain his shaking.

Kai shook his head. “No. He was no longer permitted to go out hunting with the other alphas after he attacked you. I would assume that on the day of the fire, he was still locked up in a cell.”

“Don’t you think he would have died in the fire then? He wouldn’t have been able to run away since he was locked up. He would have burned alive, wouldn’t he?” Jimin continued. He hated thinking that the crazy alpha could still be alive and tormenting omegas somewhere. Tormenting him.

“You can never tell what could have happened,” Kai answered, “I can’t think of anyone else who could want to cause you harm from your pack. Other than him.”

Jeongguk seemed to have reeled in his anger a bit now, more curious about arriving at a possible theory. “Even if he were alive, how could he have known Jimin was here? That he survived?” he asked.

Kai shrugged. “Jimin’s scent could be easily followed. It didn’t take me all that much effort to find him.”

“Yeah but you got tipped off by Head Alpha Choi,” Jeongguk argued, “Besides, now he smells slightly different since he’s mated. And pregnant.”

Kai hated admitting how easy it was to find Jimin, but it really was. “Considering how obsessed he was, I wouldn’t put it past him to be able to find Jimin. I hate the idea too, but we have to be on the lookout for him in case he is alive.”

Jeongguk released a snarl at that thought, angry that they haven’t arrived at an answer, and have instead only achieved more suspects. He feared Jimin was still in danger, especially now that he was with pup. His alpha wanted to grab the omega and take him somewhere far where no one would ever be able to reach them. And his Jimin would always be safe. But no matter how tempting that idea sounded, he was Head Alpha, and he couldn’t abandon his pack.

“I’m going to trust your word that you weren’t behind Jimin’s attack because I trust Jimin’s judgement,” Jeongguk stated. “But keep in mind that if I ever find out you’re double crossing me, you’ll long regret it. And not even Jimin would be able to save you this time,” he threatened, making it a point to look Kai straight in the eye.

Kai nodded, despite loathing that he needed the other alpha’s approval for this. “I would never hurt Jimin. That I can promise you.”

Jimin smiled at him then, happy that they had finally come into an agreement and the two alphas were no longer aiming for each other’s throats. He came forward and grabbed Kai’s hands, giving them a gentle squeeze. “Thank you so much Kai. You know that I trust you with my life, so I’m glad that you’ve come to find me.”

Kai squeezed the other’s small hands back, nodding and smiling at the omega. He grabbed one of Jimin’s cheeks and his eyes grew a bit sad. “I know you’re scared Jiminie. But don’t worry about Josong…I won’t ever let him hurt you again.”

Jimin smiled back, although you could see tears forming in his eyes. “I know.”

After having spoken with Kai about the attack, Jeongguk decided that he would set the alpha somewhat free. They had no evidence against Kai and he had proven to be more of an asset than a liability. Jeongguk would have never found out about Josong if it wasn’t for Kai. That gave them a new possibility of finding Jimin’s attacker.

He suggested that Kai take shelter in one of the alpha training cabins, since that was the only place where they had space. Jimin had suggested he take their guest room, but Jeongguk would rather die before he let another alpha sleep in his house. He still didn’t fully trust the other with Jimin, alone. Jimin didn’t provide much resistance since he knew he wouldn’t win that argument.

“You’re going to wait here until one of my alpha officers can come take an official statement from you. He will be telling you of the rules of this pack and what you are expected to do in the meantime while we still search for Jimin’s attacker,” he told the alpha, the other immediately standing up from where he had already taken a seat on the dorm bed.

“No way! I want to help with the search! You have to let me help Jimin—” he immediately interjected, snarling in disapproval of him basically being contained either way.

Jeongguk growled in response, his alpha not used to being disobeyed. “You will listen to me. You either stay here and let us do our job, or I kick you out of this pack,” he threatened.

Kai crossed his arms in annoyance. “And what good will I be here? I could be helping you all find the culprit! I want to find this bastard just as much as you! Jimin could still be in danger—”

Jeongguk immediately got in his face, eyes red and piercing. “I still don’t fully trust you! My men still have to watch what you do now that you’re no longer imprisoned. The Head Omega’s life is still possibly threatened by you and we won’t take that lightly!” he yelled.

Kai let out a laugh. “I knew you still didn’t approve of me. You only put up a front for Jimin’s sake didn’t you?”

Jeongguk huffed and rolled his eyes at the other. “Don’t think you’re so important. I don’t 100% approve of you whether Jimin is here or not. I only want what is best for my mate and pup. They are the most important to me.”

Kai let out a growl of frustration, hands pulling at his hair strands. He hated feeling so useless, not being able to do anything to help. He took one last look at the Head Alpha, seeing the other having no signs of backing down, and essentially let out a huff of defeat. “Fine. I will lay low for now, Head Alpha. I’m only doing it under one condition though,” he suggested.

Jeongguk crossed his arms, not liking this one bit. “And what is that?”

Kai smirked then, eyes full of deviance. “You will let Jimin visit me. I want to talk to him more about what has happened ever since the fire. I want to know how his life has been…how he has dealt with everything that’s happened. Alone. Please…let him. I know he needs someone to talk to as well.”

Jeongguk knew that he was being incredibly selfish, but he hated thinking about Jimin finding solace in Kai’s arms. “He can talk to me. I’m his mate—” he started, only to be interrupted by the annoying alpha.

“You know it’s not the same Jeongguk. I’m the only one left from his pack. His only pack family. I’ve known him my entire life…he’ll feel a different kind of peace with me than he feels with you. Please…I care about him.” Kai held a seriousness in his eyes that Jeongguk hated seeing, since it only made him more jealous about the connection the two had. He often wished he would have found Jimin sooner. Maybe then Kai wouldn’t have the upperhand with this.

Despite his alpha whining inside him to not let up, he ultimately sighed in defeat. “Fine. I’ll let him come after he gets his rest. But—,” he continued, “beta guards will be present right outside while he’s here and that’s something I will not negotiate with you.”

Kai was quick in his response. “I’m fine with that.”

Jeongguk hoped he wouldn’t come to regret this.

Jimin had gone straight home after visiting Kai at the prison cabin, his feet aching after having stood for so long with the burial and then with Kai. He headed straight to the bed as soon as he entered the cabin, feet singing a hail mary after finally getting a rest. I can’t imagine how tired I’ll be as I get more big, he thought. He’s already dying and his belly ain’t even showing yet!

The day progressed as he laid in bed, resting. He hoped that Jeongguk had peacefully led Kai to his new dorm bed and that the two had no longer got into arguments after he left. He knew he was hoping for a lot.

At one time during his rest he was visited by Taehyung and Yeosang, the two healers poking and prodding him to check for any ailment in the omega. They took a bit of his blood so they could test for possible anemia or any other deficiency, suggesting that it would be best for Jimin to start taking a vitamin brew. Jimin quickly agreed, wanting nothing but the best for his pup. He often worried that he wasn’t eating enough, since his nausea hadn’t necessarily let up yet.

Taehyung said that the vitamin brew would help a little with the nausea, but that he and Yeosang would work on something stronger for the nausea now that they obtained more cloves. They suggested the omega eat slow and eat only bland foods with clear liquids, as this wouldn’t upset the stomach as much. Jimin dutifully took note of everything the healers suggested, already planning in his head what his next meal would be.

After having measured his blood pressure and taken his temperature, noting that the omega was doing fine, the healers left in pursuit of getting started with the brew. They ran into Jeongguk at the door, the other having come back from dropping off Kai at the alpha training cabin.

“How is he doing? Is everything ok?” he quickly asked, automatically worried every time he saw the healers around Jimin, fear that the other wasn’t feeling well.

Taehyung and Yeosang quickly shushed the frantic alpha, all knowing that the other could easily worry over nothing. “He’s doing great Guk. Our Jiminie is incredibly strong, he will protect your pup, don’t worry,” the omega assured the alpha. “Now go and give your omega a massage, his feet are aching,” he teased, winking at Jimin from across the room, the other only laughing at his soulmate’s antics.

“Don’t you worry Tae, I’ll give him a very thorough massage,” he teased back, Taehyung letting out a laugh and Yeosang giving a slight cough in discomfort.

“Now you owe me one Jiminie!” the kinky omega hollered, Jimin now blushing in embarrassment. He really hated his best friend sometimes…and his stupid horny alpha as well. Especially when they ganged up on him this way.

The healers took their leave as soon as Jeongguk approached the bed where Jimin lay comfortably covered under the warm sheets. The omega let out an embarrassing squeak when Jeongguk suddenly abolished the sheets, revealing Jimin in his pajama shorts, legs now fully exposed to the chilly air. “Alpha! It’s cold!” he whined, attempting to pull back the sheets from Jeongguk’s hands to no avail.

The alpha pushed the sheets to the foot of the bed, and slowly approached the blushing omega like a predator. He grabbed one of Jimin’s feet and lay a quick, soft kiss upon the ankle, the omega shivering at the gesture. “My kitten’s feet have been hurting? Poor baby,” he teased, as he continued to deliver more kisses to the omega’s feet, the other hand giving gentle massages to the other foot.

Jimin giggled at the ridiculous alpha. “This is your fault. Now imagine when I actually get big. You’re going to have to massage my entire body, alpha. Because of you I’m going to get fat,” he pouted cutely.

Jeongguk purred as he ascended up Jimin’s leg—god he loved how soft Jimin’s legs were, so milky—leaving teasing kisses as he went. He took his time when he arrived at the other’s belly, leaving kisses and quickly biting and sucking right above the other’s belly button, leaving a hickey right next to another he had left last night. He loved marking Jimin, it made his alpha purr in satisfaction.

“You’re not going to look fat, baby. You’re going to look beautiful,” he assured the omega, even though he knew Jimin didn’t actually mean it. “I can’t wait to see you when you finally have a bump. You’re going to look so beautiful…I still can’t believe you have a pup inside you right now…my pup.” He stopped his kissing and teasing to rest his head on Jimin’s belly, simply embracing the other and his pup, listening to the omega breathe and attempting to listen to his pup, although he couldn’t hear anything yet.

Jimin smiled at the view, love and affection growing more and more for the alpha. Something he didn’t think was even possible anymore. He ran his hands through the alpha’s soft hair, purring at the amount of peace he felt right now. He knew he should be worrying over Josong possibly being alive and out to get him right now, but being with Jeongguk always made him feel safe. “Let’s lay together, alpha,” he whispered, his voice full of adoration for the other.

“But bring the sheets over because I’m still cold!”

It was much later in the night when Taehyung was on his way to Jimin’s cabin to find the other and let him know that him and Yeosang had finally put together the vitamin brew, the concoction ready for the Head Omega to start his prenatal care. Jeongguk had given Yeosang the pleasure of being Jimin’s pregnancy aid, since the beta had always proven to be a loyal and knowledgeable healer. Taehyung had offered to have taken that job, but Jeongguk knew how busy the other could be as lead healer, and he wanted someone who could solely focus on Jimin’s needs. Alas, Taehyung would help Yeosang with anything he needed anyway, hence he helped the beta in making the vitamin brew.

His cabin was only about a 5-minute walk from the Jeon’s cabin, but it was already dark outside, so he was carrying an oil lamp to guide him forward. He really hoped the Jeons weren’t already asleep, since it was essential Jimin start the vitamin brew as soon as possible. It turns out that Jimin’s blood came back slightly anemic, and Taehyung was worried that this would complicate the pregnancy. Yoongi had offered to accompany him since it was already dark out, but the omega had insisted it would be a quick delivery.

He could see the Jeon’s cabin in the distance now, the light from the kitchen area still on, so he assumed they were still awake. Good.

He continued trekking forward, oil lamp in one hand and the basket with the brew on the other. He was a couple feet away from the front door of the cabin when he heard a rustling noise from the bushes near the Jeon’s kitchen window. He squinted his eyes in attempts to see if anything was in the bushes, curious to see if there were any creatures lurking nearby. Must be a fox or something, he thought.

As he continued approaching the bushes to get a better look, he noticed that it was in fact not an animal, but a human? He couldn’t exactly make out the details since it was so dark outside, and his oil lamp wasn’t lighting up so great, but he could swear that he could see glowing red eyes. What the hell?

Before he managed to approach further and identify the unknown being, the black bulk shifted and began to run away, and that’s when Taehyung clarified that it was indeed a human that was hidden in the bushes. Was this Jimin’s attacker? Shit! He’s still stalking Jiminie! Hurry! Catch them!

He dropped the basket on the ground and began to give chase, desperate to find the culprit that has been tormenting his poor soulmate. Deep down he knew this was probably not a good idea, and that he should have called for help instead, but he didn’t want to run the chance of the offender escaping. This might be their only chance at arriving at an answer.

He could see the dark being still ahead of him, but it was becoming harder and harder to see due to his oil lamp not exactly being fit for running. They were getting deeper and deeper into the forest, and Taehyung was starting to get worried that he was going to become lost, and that he was essentially going to lose the attacker.

The oil lamp was still lit, but at this point the light from the moon was what was keeping the omega from tripping over branches in his chase. He was running at full speed, as fast as his legs could carry him, unwilling to let the other escape. He could still see the other in front of him, and he could now smell burnt ashes in the air. Its’ him! It’s the alpha Jimin described! he thought.

Just when he thought he was going to collapse, his legs and lungs burning as he fought to take deep breaths, the other stopped running ahead of him. Taehyung came to a halt as well, more surprised at the other stopping than anything else. He was running on pure adrenaline, chest falling and rising rapidly, and tears forming on his eyes due to the cold air piercing them in his chase.

He continued taking slow steps forward, oil lamp still raised in his hand, in attempts to see who Jimin’s attacker was. He knew he should tread carefully considering that the other was dangerous, but it wasn’t until he could smell the burnt ashes more clearly that he began to be worried. He was getting closer and closer to the other, and by now he could kind of tell that the culprit was in fact a male alpha.

He brought his oil lamp more forward, reaching towards the other’s face. In this moment the other turned and faced the omega straight on, glowing red eyes and canines coming to light. Taehyung gasped and dropped his oil lamp in his fright. “Oh my god—” he gasped in fear, hand coming over his mouth, “I can’t believe—”

In that moment he heard something from behind him, and before he managed to turn and see if anyone had come to save him, he felt hands coming over his head and a wet cloth being pressed against his nose. The strong chemicals immediately pierced his nose, his head becoming dizzy with the smell, body becoming numb and eyes becoming hazy. He tried fighting back, but it was as if he no longer had control over his body.

He felt something sharp pierce his neck and soon after he felt a burning liquid being injected, his gasp of pain only making him inhale the chemicals further. Shit! He really hoped they hadn’t injected him with what he guessed it was. He struggled in his attacker’s grasp, body now completely engulfed in a burning pain. Jimin! Jimin! Run!

He took only a couple more breaths before everything faded to black.

Chapter Text

“Where is he?! Tae!” Jimin yelled in desperation, fear grabbing him entirely. “No! Tae! I’m sorry!” he continued crying, tears no longer allowing him to see, the sobs racking his entire body. He was pulling against Jeongguk’s hold, desperate to go see Taehyung for himself. See his soulmate so he could apologize. If it wasn’t for him Taehyung would be okay, he screamed in his head. He yelled and yelled in Jeongguk’s hold, body fighting the alpha’s strong grasp. “Let me go! Tae! Tae!”

Jeongguk pressed Jimin’s body tighter against himself, his heart breaking and crying at his mate’s pain. He hated holding the omega against his will, but he severely feared that if he let him go, the omega would end up hurting himself. “Jimin, baby, please calm down! You’re going to hurt yourself!” he begged the omega, but Jimin continued fighting strongly against him. He honestly didn’t realize Jimin’s strength until now. “You’re making my alpha crazy! Please, please calm down! Think of our pup!” he continued pleading the other, fear gripping him so tight he was having problems breathing. It’s the effect from Jimin’s pain, he realized.

He looked desperately at Jin, whom had been the one that came to deliver the news of Taehyung’s attack. The older omega looked just as helpless. It was nearing the middle of the night and everything was happening so fast. Taehyung had apparently been found by Yoongi somewhere in the forest after the alpha had noticed Taehyung hadn’t returned in a while. Jeongguk couldn’t believe that all this kept happening right under their noses.

Jimin’s cries got louder, the pain he felt inside so heart-wrenching that he was choking with the intense intakes of air. “It’s all my fault! Please alpha, let me go see him! Tae!” he cried, his chest falling and rising so fast, he was wheezing at this point. His head started to feel really light, the hyperventilation causing his vision to darken for a few seconds at a time.

Jeongguk was desperate. He felt torn in two—first he was incredibly worried about Taehyung’s condition and the fact that he got attacked, and now that Jimin was suffering immensely, his alpha worried over his mate and pup’s health. He felt Jimin’s strength slowly start to leave the omega, his body no longer resisting as strongly, and that’s when he truly worried. “Jimin? Omega, what’s wrong? Please—” he started, but gasped soon after Jimin’s legs suddenly gave away, the omega going limp in Jeongguk’s arms.

“Jimin!” he yelled, slowly going down to his knees, holding the omega carefully in his arms. Jimin’s head hung limply, his arms no longer providing any resistance, and Jeongguk’s alpha whimpered in anguish. He brought his hand to Jimin’s face, chastely grabbing onto the omega’s cheek that was still fresh with tears—his closed eyes red and puffy. “Jimin, baby, open your eyes—please, Jimin—” he begged, but no matter how much he rubbed the other’s cheek, willing the omega to wake, Jimin stood still in his hold.

“Jin hyung!” he yelled.

Jin was quick to appear on his side, hand coming to rest on Jimin’s forehead. He caressed it lightly, brushing Jimin’s hair away from his forehead—slowly and carefully—knowing that any potential threatening move would drive Jeongguk over the edge. The alpha was already hanging by a thread, and any sign of Jimin being endangered further would immediately make him snap. He could sense the desperation and fear in Jeongguk, the scent coming off the Head Alpha so strong and potent.

“He just fainted Guk. The stress from receiving the news of Taehyung’s attack caused an insane lowering of his blood pressure, and he’s anemic. Yeosang and Taehyung tested him yesterday,” he explained, noticing the worry immediately overwhelm Jeongguk’s features.

“Anemic? What does that mean? Is he going to be okay? Hyung tell me—” Jeongguk asked urgently—bringing Jimin’s limp body closer to his chest—his alpha wolf worried about his mate and pup. “Is he going to be okay? Is the pup going to be okay—”

Jin shushed the alpha, noticing Jeongguk’s eyes bordering on turning red, and that certainly wasn’t good. “He’ll be fine Guk. Please, calm down, you need to be strong for Jiminie to recover. He’s only anemic, which happens frequently with pregnancies. Tae and Yeosang had made him a vitamin brew for him to start taking and that should help.”

“And where is it? He needs it…now!” Jeongguk yelled, but winced when he noticed he was displacing his anger and worry on the wrong person. He was just incredibly worried about Jimin and Taehyung. He had once again failed them as Head Alpha.

“I understand you’re worried Guk, I am too,” the older omega sympathized. “I believe Namjoon said something about the basket Taehyung was carrying being thrown somewhere outside…that was one clue that Yoongi saw before he left in his search for Tae in the forest, following his scent.”

“Let me go find it,” Jin continued. He turned around to look at Jeongguk once more before he headed out the door. “Lay Jimin on the bed so he can be comfortable. Maybe he’ll wake soon.”

Jeongguk nodded quickly, grabbing onto Jimin tightly before he stood up—the omega secured safely in his arms. He looked down at the petite male—the other looked like he was in a deep sleep—and he couldn’t help but lay a deep kiss pressed against the omega’s forehead. “I wish I could protect you against anything that could potentially cause you pain,” he whispered to the other, lips still gliding against Jimin’s forehead, eyes full of worry and regret, “I’m sorry I’ve failed you once again.”

Jimin was silent in his arms and Jeongguk had never felt more helpless than now. He doesn’t think he could ever bear anything happening to Jimin. He would go crazy without him.

While he was lost in thought—carefully holding and scenting the omega in his arms—he hadn’t noticed Jin had already returned, the cold chilly air coming inside being the only indication that Jin had come back in. The omega didn’t say anything, he simply raised the basket in his hand and nodded his head in the bed’s direction.

Jeongguk carefully laid Jimin on the bed, bringing the warm covers over the omega, securing him tightly. His eyes held worry for the other, brows creased and mouth downturned. “Are you sure he’ll be okay hyung?” he asked as he continued to caress Jimin’s face, releasing as many calming pheromones as he possibly could.

Jin brought the vial of vitamin brew forward, having taken it out of the basket, and carefully brought it to Jimin’s lips. He tipped the vial slightly inward, making sure it went into the omega’s mouth. “This liquid should help him recover in a bit. We should just let him rest, let him wake on his own…he is incredibly worried about Tae and that’s not good for both his and the pup’s health. Also, let’s not forget that Tae got attacked…and that means that Jimin is still in danger. The attacker is out there.”

Jeongguk huffed in rage, angry that the attacker was still so close by—and they hadn’t captured him yet. His heart boiled. He needed to protect his village. First it was Jimin and now Taehyung had also been attacked…this couldn’t keep happening. Not on his watch. “Where is Taehyung? Is it bad?” he asked, the alpha in him getting riled up over the issue.

Jin closed the vial after he finished feeding Jimin the intended dose, turning to look at Jeongguk. “I’m still not too sure about what happened or how it happened. I was currently trying hard not to fall asleep since I waiting on Namjoon to come home, but then Namjoon just barged in, frantic about Taehyung having been attacked,” he explained, worry setting deep in his eyes, “He told me he ran into Yoongi carrying Taehyung in his arms coming from the forest…I haven’t even seen Taehyung myself yet…Namjoon told me to stay away for now, he feared it would tip Yoongi off the edge. He told me to come here instead, to warn you and make sure that Jimin wasn’t attacked as well.”

Jeongguk growled and he turned to make his way to the door. Jin quickly stood in his way, hands pushed against Jeongguk’s chest, halting the alpha in his steps. “Guk, where are you going?”

“Where do you think I’m going?! I’m going to go check up on Taehyung and then I’m going to find that bastard so I can end this once and for all!” he growled, eyes shining red.

Jin was quick to interject. “You can’t! Namjoon told me you had to stay here too! Taehyung is already being taken care of and Jimin needs you here,” he explained, hoping the alpha would listen for once. “You can’t leave him here, alone, while he’s unconscious! The wolf is still out there somewhere!”

Jeongguk roared in response, desperation dripping out of his pores. “You can’t expect me to do nothing! Taehyung was attacked and I need to go see what happened! I can’t just stand here while my pack is in danger!” he argued. “I trust you to stay here with Jimin. I need to go find the wolf, he’s probably close by somewhere—”

“Don’t you dare go looking for him right now! Now is not the time with Taehyung injured and with Jimin passed out…listen, we need to think this through before we go off on a hunt,” Jin disagreed, but he saw the defiance in Jeongguk’s eyes, his arguments going in one ear and out the other. He forgot how stubborn the alpha could be when he was angered. The Head Alpha was in his mode of protect, protect, protect.

Jeongguk hated it. He absolutely hated it—but he had to do it. “Get out of my way hyung. I won’t ask twice,” he threatened and Jin’s eyes went wide in surprise. “I am the Head Alpha and I won’t let you determine what I do. I will do it whether you like it or not,” he emphasized, trying to ignore the look in Jin’s eyes. “Stay here with Jimin while I go looking for answers,” he stated, no room for further argument.

He made his way around Jin, whom’s body stood still with shock, and took large steps towards the door. He was sick of his pack mates being attacked—he needed to do something.

He pulled the door wide open, only having taken a few steps out when he was suddenly stopped by a frantic Namjoon, the other’s scent heavy with worry. The alpha was sweating immensely and Jeongguk could tell that he had ran all the way from wherever he was coming from here as fast as his legs would allow.

“Namjoon? What’s going on?” he asked, fearing the worst. He could sense Jin approach him from behind, also curious as to why Namjoon was in such a state.

Jeongguk immediately felt bad for the way he had talked to Jin not even a second ago. He really hated his alpha genes sometimes. But he was sick and tired of everything going on recently and he hated that they hadn’t resolved anything yet.

Namjoon took a few seconds to catch his breath, his voice still coming out in short pants, “Yoongi—” he started, coughing slightly as he tried to get all the words out. “He—he—”

Jeongguk came forward and grabbed Namjoon by the shoulders. “Namjoon. What. Happened. What happened with Yoongi?” he questioned. He was already on edge and he felt his patience thinning away.

Namjoon choked a bit with the alpha’s direct command, but answered nonetheless. “Yoongi. He’s on his way to kill Kai.”

Yoongi rarely got angry. He was a pretty chill alpha, hating any kind of conflict with others. But there were things that would drive any alpha mad—and that included their mate being hurt.

He was furious.

He knew he should have accompanied Taehyung regardless of the omega telling him that it would be a quick errand. He knew that there was a potential danger out there and he still chose to give Taehyung the benefit of the doubt and let him go alone. It was another major regret in his life.

He immediately noticed the omega had already taken a while to come back, and that didn’t sound much like Taehyung at all. He knew the healer omega could sometimes get carried away when he visited Jimin, but he never imposed as much if Jeongguk was around. Besides, the Jeons were more than likely preparing to go to bed, and Taehyung knew how to respect boundaries.

So why hadn’t he been back yet? There had been something that hadn’t settled right in his chest then—he had felt a fear so intense it surprised him. Unless…it wasn’t his fear…but Taehyung’s. Yoongi had gone looking for his mate right away, fear making him envision the worst.

When he ran into the basket Taehyung had been carrying, thrown on the floor right outside the Jeon’s cabin, he had felt immense panic. He automatically smelled the air, desperately searching for his mate’s scent. He had smelt it easily—the scent quickly leading him into the forest where he had soon found the omega on the floor, unmoving.

The first thing he made sure of was that Taehyung was still alive. His pulse was really, really, slow—but he was alive. He hadn’t cried so hard in a long time. He felt like the most useless alpha in the world—he had failed his mate. At the moment all he had felt was fear and worry; he ran as quickly as he could with Taehyung in his arms, towards the healing cabin. All he cared about was getting the omega to a healer. He needed Yeosang.

As he ran with the omega in his arms, he noticed the smell of burnt ashes and Yoongi swears his alpha broke—he felt an anger so immense he was scared he would end up committing murder without hesitation. He never really understood Jeongguk and his rage outbursts until now. He wanted to destroy whoever had done this.

He had run into Namjoon as soon as broke into the village, the other so surprised at Yoongi coming out of the forest with an unconscious Taehyung in his arms—that he actually tripped over his feet. “Taehyung was attacked,” he had spit out, anger driving him forward. Namjoon had looked at them with worry. “Find Jin and tell him to go check on Jimin and warn Guk about the attack. I need your help in finding Yeosang quickly after that,” he had continued to direct, and Namjoon had been quick to comply.

That was how things had gone down—and now he sat next to Taehyung’s bed while the omega rested in the healing cabin. It had been quick to find Yeosang—the other was barely falling asleep in his beta dorm bed—and he hadn’t even hesitated in coming to Taehyung’s aid. When he saw Taehyung—the other still unconsciousness and unmoving—he knew what was wrong almost right away.

He had inspected the omega closely, moving his limbs in certain directions and stimulating pain onto the other, in which the omega wouldn’t respond to, trying to figure out what exactly had happened. When he briefly looked at the omega’s neck—and noticed the slight puncture site and redness around it—he knew the omega had been drugged.

“I think the attacker must have injected him with sufficient propofol or thiopental enough to cause a drug-induced coma…I really don’t know what to tell you other than we have to wait and see how long it takes his body to flush it out,” Yeosang had explained, regret in his eyes for not having been able to help more. “I can’t tell you how long that will be because I don’t know how much was injected. But I’m sure that’s what happened here…Taehyungie is in a coma.”

Yoongi had been livid. He couldn’t believe that Taehyung had been drugged. What was the purpose?

He was now sitting next to the omega’s bed as he took one of Taehyung’s hands into his—pressing lightly as if to let the omega know that he was there. And he was now safe.

Yeosang was still checking vitals and making sure that Taehyung was stable, the beta healer coming and going with different injections and brews that Yoongi had no clue what the purpose of them were. Only half an hour had passed since he came in with a comatose Taehyung, but it had felt like an eternity.

“Was the attacker aiming to kill, but didn’t quite inject enough, or just aimed to subdue?” he asked the beta healer, while he played with Taehyung’s fingers. He hated that Taehyung wasn’t responding to his caresses—hated that the lightful and silly omega was just…there. It broke his heart.

Yeosang shrugged his shoulders, just as confused as the alpha. “I’m not too sure why he was drugged to be honest. If the attacker was the same one that attacked Jimin, then is he just attacking omegas in general? Or is he simply after Jimin? If so, why attack Taehyung? I think he’s just crazy,” he stated. The beta’s hands were shaking, and Yoongi couldn’t tell why Yeosang was so nervous. He must be freaked by all that’s happened. They all were.

Yet Yeosang brought up a good point. “I do believe the attacker is after Jimin solely…but why was Taehyung out in the forest? I noticed he dropped the basket he was carrying for the Jeon’s…almost as if he let go of it to give chase or be chased…do you think maybe he saw something he shouldn’t have?” Yoongi questioned, wheels turning in his head rapidly, trying to make sense of everything.

Yeosang shrugged once again, instead focusing on delivering more fluids to Taehyung.

“Things are not really making any sense…” Yoongi continued to wonder, the alpha in him unwilling to miss any major points—hell bent on figuring out who dared to hurt his mate. When he found out who did it, he wasn’t going to hesitate.

He brought his nose forward and slightly scented Taehyung on his wrist and whined when he noticed the omega didn’t respond as he usually did. He was going to destroy them. He felt his alpha getting riled up again at the thought of Taehyung out there in the forest, alone and hurt, with no one to help him. It shook him to the core at the anger he felt inside.

“Taehyung will recover, he just needs time. He was lucky you found him as soon as you did…the hypothermia that would have hit him being out there in the chilly forest would have killed him first. But please, Yoongi calm down. I can sense your wolf wanting to engage,” Yeosang advised.

Yoongi growled. “I just hate it! I hate that my mate was hurt and I wasn’t there to prevent it! I need to find out who did this—I need to kill something—” he rasped, eyes turning red. His head started thinking, thinking, thinking…trying to come up with a potential suspect. The only thing that suddenly popped out in his pent up brain was Kai. The unknown alpha from Jimin’s pack—he must have done this!

“Kai! He is to blame! I heard that he was released earlier and don’t you think it’s weird that as soon as he’s free something like this happens!? Nothing had happened when he was locked up!” he yelled, canines coming out and his eyes turning a bright red in rage. “I’m going to murder him!”

Yeosang’s eyes widened in fear at his outburst, but before he could even attempt to stop Yoongi from killing Kai, the alpha was running out the door with a destination in mind. “Yoongi! Wait! You can’t!” the beta healer warned, but he spoke to an empty cabin, the angry alpha long gone in his pursuit. That’s also when he noticed Namjoon had witnessed the entire exchange, and the tall alpha simply pivoted on his heels and headed straight back—towards the Jeon’s cabin, probably to go warn Jeongguk.

It didn’t take Yoongi long to find Kai. He knew the alpha had been sent to the training alpha cabins and he was out for blood—his nose picked up the alpha’s scent fairly quickly. He barged into the cabin, alpha growling, and noticed that Kai was currently asleep in his bunk bed—as if he had been sleeping this entire time. Yeah, well Yoongi knew that wasn’t the case.

“You bastard! I’m going to kill you for hurting my mate!” he yelled, and he came forward and grabbed Kai from his legs, pulling the other alpha out of the bed without warning. Kai woke up in surprise, shouting at the pain he felt from where Yoongi was grabbing onto his legs with clawed fingers.

His alpha engaged automatically—legs pushing onto Yoongi’s chest and almost, almost managing in getting free from the enraged alpha’s hands. “What the hell man?! I didn’t do anything!” he argued, eyes now bleeding red as well, his canines also showing. He pushed once more against Yoongi and the alpha finally let him go. Kai immediately sprung onto his feet and got into a fighting stance—although he didn’t know exactly why he was fighting right now. What the hell had happened now?

Yoongi didn’t give him any time to try to figure out why he was getting attacked and accused, the enraged alpha coming forward and grabbing onto his neck—plunging his sharp nails in deep. Kai howled in pain, but this wasn’t even close to the amount of pain he had felt when he got attacked by Jeongguk. This he could manage.

He fought against Yoongi’s grip, his own alpha now on high alert, and he managed to remove one hand before suddenly Yoongi wasn’t in front of him anymore. He grabbed onto his neck to assess the damage—noticing there were only slight deep punctures that would probably heal in a few days time—before he noticed that Yoongi was being held down by none other than the Head Alpha.

“Yoongi! You need to calm down! Don’t commit the same mistakes I did! Reel it in!” Jeongguk shouted at the enraged alpha, Yoongi still struggling in Jeongguk’s hold, wanting to continue to attack Kai. “Yoongi I know it’s hard, but please...stop.”

When Jeongguk noticed Yoongi was still fighting him, he was left with no choice but to demand it from him. “I said stop!”

The effect was immediate. Yoongi automatically stopping fighting back, his eyes turning back to dark brown. He whined in retaliation, but the wolf in him would never defy an order from his Head Alpha. Even though it was killing him inside.

Jeongguk let go of the hold he had on the alpha, helping Yoongi to his feet. “Yoongi, I know that you’re angry about Tae being attacked,” he started, and Yoongi growled—his eyes sending death glares towards Kai whom was behind Jeongguk now, still as confused as ever. Jeongguk quickly shifted his attention back to himself. “But I don’t think it was Kai…as much as I hate to say it, I don’t think it was him. So please, don’t do anything you’ll regret later.”

Yoongi scoffed in disbelief. “Are you kidding? Since when do you trust him? Not even a day ago you hated his guts!” he accused.

“I understand, I really do…but Kai has been here the entire time. It wasn’t him.” Jeongguk explained, and he quickly made Yoongi realize all the other trainee alphas that were now surrounding them—curious to see why there was a fight in the dorms. At Jeongguk’s argument they all nodded their heads.

“Yeah Kai has been sleeping here the entire time,” a trainee alpha, Yugo, supported.

Yoongi couldn’t believe this. “Then if it wasn’t him then who the fuck hurt my mate?! Who?!”

Jeongguk sighed in defeat, completely understanding Yoongi’s hopelessness. “That is something I’ve been trying to figure out ever since Jimin got attacked.”

Jimin was running. He was being followed in the forest, wolf behind him gaining up on him quick.

Before he knew it, something took him down. The brunt of the force took his breath away, his back hitting the ground hard and head smashing against a rock on the floor. His vision went black for a moment and strong burning pain took hold over his head, making him gasp in pain. The wolf was on him, hot breath and saliva hitting his face, making him whimper in response.

The wolf growled and brought his snout to Jimin’s neck, taking gulping breaths and releasing a stronger scent, the smell of oil taking a slight burnt twist and the acrid smell of acid taking place. Jimin struggled underneath the wolf, throwing his fists in hopes to deter the wolf from moving any further, but it was like his limbs no longer had any strength in them. He felt tired and cold. He could no longer feel his face and the strong smell coming from the wolf was making him dizzy.

The wolf proceeded to sniff his entire body, moving slowly down his torso and nearing an area that had the omega whimpering in fear and shame. The sound brought the wolf’s attention back to the omega’s neck, leaving a path of saliva as it ascended back up his trembling body. This was starting to seem so, so familiar. Before the wolf could sink his canines onto Jimin’s neck, the alpha whispered in his ear—voice coming out crazy and raspy.

“You’re going to be mine. And so will that disgusting pup. You’ll see.”

Jimin woke up completely agitated and drenched in sweat. He nearly vomited, stomach twisting heavily in his gut. His pup. The bastard had threatened his pup in his nightmare. He couldn’t believe how real all of that had felt. His body shook—chills overtaking his entire body. He noticed the sheets covering him were drenched in sweat but the omega felt so cold. So why was he sweating?

He felt incredibly nauseous and he barely now noticed that he was feeling extreme pain in his lower abdomen. The pain was coming in sharp waves, taking his breath away. Was something wrong with his pup? His omega howled at the idea. Before he screamed for help, the door to the cabin opened and Jin walked in, a basket in his hand.

He smelled the distress from the omega before Jimin even managed to say anything. “Jiminie! You’re awake!” he exclaimed in relief, before he rushed towards the distressed omega. He noticed the wince of pain on Jimin’s face and automatically grew worried. “What’s wrong? Are you feeling ill?”

Jimin was letting out little whines of pain, the pain and chills not really letting him do anything else. Jin brought his hand to Jimin’s forehead and almost jumped in response. “Holy shit! Jimin you’re burning up! What the hell happened?!” he asked, panic settling on his face. “You’re drenched!”

Jimin was clutching his lower belly in his hands, face pinched in pain. “Hyung where am I? What happened? Why am I in bed? Where were you—” he let out, the pain not letting him make any sense, his words coming out rather incoherently. He felt like he was being roasted in an oven but also being laid out in the middle of an ice mountain—the torn feeling was making him crazy. The pain piercing his abdomen was what was truly scaring him. He wanted his pup to be okay.

Jin grabbed a nearby towel and quickly dipped it in a water basin he had laid out earlier, laying the wet towel on Jimin’s forehead, hoping to help cool the omega down. Jimin felt the instant relief on his head, but his body still felt like it was being frozen like a popsicle.

“Jiminie, don’t worry about anything right now. You had fainted earlier but you were doing fine...” the older omega answered, although he sounded really confused. “I swear I was only gone for a few minutes to obtain more vitamin brew from Taehyung’s cabin, but I guess I must have taken longer than I thought.” Jimin could hear the regret in the older omega’s voice and he wouldn’t doubt it if he was blaming himself for Jimin’s condition.

He suddenly remembered what had happened before he had fainted.

“Hyung what happened with Tae? Is he okay—” he immediately sat up, but winced when the movement exacerbated his pain. Jin laid him back down, shushing him. “He is going to be okay. Please Jimin, look at yourself. What the hell happened? What are you feeling?” he asked while he frantically searched the Jeon’s cabinette for medicines.

Jimin had to take a deep breath—the pain in his tummy was seemingly getting worse. “Hyung, I’m worried. Is my pup okay? Why does my tummy hurt? Hyung, please be honest with me—” He felt tears start to build in his eyes—the mere thought of his pup’s life being in danger breaking his heart in two.

Jin was busy pouring a liquid onto a spoon, brows furrowed in concern, and he brought it to Jimin’s lips, urging the hurting omega to drink it. “Drink this. It should help bring the fever down and help with the pain in your tummy. Jimin…I really don’t know what is going on—you were fine when I left you. You had only fainted, but I did notice that you were starting to feel a little warm. Is the pain really bad?”

Jimin winced as he nodded. “I feel so nauseous that I want to throw up.” He felt like he was going to burst—his body was throbbing and god, why couldn’t he stop shaking and why was it so cold? “I don’t know what happened…I was having a bad dream…it seemed so real, I was terrified…but then I woke up. I was drenched in sweat and it was hard to breathe. But I thought it was only the side effects of my nightmare. But that’s when I noticed the pain in my tummy. Oh my god, hyung, did I catch something? I hope this doesn’t affect the pup—where is Guk? Please, bring him to me. I need him, hyung,” Jimin cried, his chills getting the best of him and his voice coming out in shivers.

He grabbed the quilt laying at his feet but Jin didn’t let him cover himself. “You’re burning up Jiminie! You’re going to make it worse!” he worried, and it crushed his heart at how much Jimin was shaking now. Something was really wrong.

“I need to grab Jeongguk. Now.”

Chapter Text

Jeongguk felt it in his heart. Jimin calling in desperation through their bond as mates. No, no, no.

He was still in the middle of helping Yoongi and Kai resolve their conflict when the pain hit him straight on, so suddenly. Anguish. Pain. Jimin! Jimin!

The alpha didn’t even waste any more time as he turned on his heels and ran as fast as he could out the dorm doors. He noticed Yoongi, Namjoon, and even Kai were hot on his heels, probably wondering what had nearly driven the Head Alpha so mad. Deep down they all knew there was only one thing that could make the alpha halt everything and leave in desperation—his mate.

Jeongguk was scared. He always hated showing or admitting any signs of weakness since he was Head Alpha, but he was so damn scared. He knew something was really wrong. His Jiminie…he was suffering. Nothing scared him more than knowing that Jimin could be in danger and he wasn’t there to help him. He increased his pace, his cabin already within view, and his alpha was already preparing for a potential attack. He would never hesitate in protecting his mate—even if it ended up killing him. He didn’t think he could ever move on without Jimin. The male omega was his entire reason for existence.

Within the close distance he then noticed Jin was exiting the cabin, fear and worry in his face. His heart fell into the pit of his stomach. This couldn’t be good. He quickly decreased the distance between him and the older omega, worry increasing over his mate. He grabbed onto Jin’s shoulders, wanting answers. “What happened? Where is Jimin? Is he okay?”

Jin was shaking his head, helplessness in his eyes. “Something is wrong, Guk. He’s shaking, claiming he’s really cold, but he’s sweating an insane amount and has a ridiculous fever. I’m…I’m worried,” the omega answered, grabbing onto Jeongguk’s hands strongly. Jeongguk didn’t give him a moment longer before he rushed into his cabin to notice Jimin was still in the bed where he left him…but he looked sick.

He rushed to the bed and fell to his knees next to his mate, reaching his arms towards the omega’s face, fingers stinging at the other’s burning skin. Jimin looked really pale and his breathing was coming out in small pants, chest rising and falling quickly. Jeongguk’s fear only grew. He whined at his mate’s anguish, and he brought his face to his mate’s neck, releasing as many pheromones as he could in attempts to ease as much of the pain as he could. He had never felt so helpless.

“Jimin!” Jeongguk heard someone shout from behind him and he felt someone approaching. He didn’t even hesitate in pulling Jimin into his arms and snarling at the intruder, baring his canines, eyes red. The growl was intimidating, the prowess of the Head Alpha coming through and making all the people in the room hesitate and bow in obedience.

“Kai! Don’t get close! He’s going to perceive you as a threat you idiot!” Jin chastised, Namjoon and Yoongi already pulling at Kai’s arms. Kai looked desperate, eyes frantic as he noticed the state Jimin was in. His heart broke knowing he had failed him. The only person he ever grew to really care about. “What the hell happened?!” he questioned, worry and anguish pouring through his anger.

Jeongguk pulled Jimin closer to him, the omega whining a little at the movement. The alpha noticed Jimin was grabbing onto his belly, and the omega’s eyes were now closing, as if he could no longer keep them open. “Jimin! Omega, please fight it! You’re going to be okay and so will our pup! You’re going to get through this and we’re going to be the happiest family,” Jeongguk encouraged, but it sounded broken, as if not even the alpha himself really believed it.

He came to realize, as his vision started to blur, that he was crying. He looked down at Jimin, whom was now smiling at him as best he could, the beauty the omega held hitting Jeongguk once again. Til this day he couldn’t believe he had ever had the honor of being Jimin’s mate. “Alpha…don’t worry please. I’m…I’m going to be okay. And I will fight so our pup can be okay too. We love you,” Jimin appeased, his hand reaching towards the alpha. “I feel so safe in your arms,” he whispered, his love for the alpha pouring through his eyes.

Jeongguk’s heart only continued to break. “Jimin, baby, please…don’t leave me,” he begged, and he never thought there would be a day where he wished he would have never met Jimin. Maybe then Jimin would have found a better alpha and he wouldn’t be in the position right now. It was all his fault…he failed to protect his mate.

He heard a lot of shuffling behind him and realized that Namjoon and Yoongi were still holding Kai back. “What the hell happened? Why is Jimin suddenly sick? Last time I saw him he was okay!” the Park alpha argued, finally quitting on his struggle against the other two alphas.

“Don’t get any closer or so help me I will finish what I started—” Yoongi started to threaten, but was shut down by Jeongguk, whom had finally turned to see them. The alpha had never looked so broken. “Yoongi, its okay,” he claimed, but the arms he had around Jimin—whom now looked like he was in deep slumber—grew a little tighter. “He’s right. What happened Jin hyung?”

Jin grew restless as he tried coming up with potential reasons as to why Jimin was suddenly deteriorating. “I honestly have no clue, Guk. He was doing fine after I had given him the vitamin brew and then I had stepped out for a few moments to grab some more. When I came back he was awake and visibly upset and shaking saying he had had a nightmare—”

“Why did you ever leave him alone?” Jeongguk questioned, and he winced when his tone came out a little more accusatory than he’d like. He knew it wasn’t Jin’s fault. But his alpha…his alpha was seething. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to snap at you.”

“I understand your pain Guk. I don’t ever want anything to happen to Jiminie either…and I feel guilty…I shouldn’t have left him—” Jin cried, the guilt weighing on him. Namjoon came forward and took him in his arms, soothing his mate as he scented the hurting omega. “Jinie, its not your fault. Please omega, I don’t like seeing you like this,” he whispered in Jin’s ear.

“Namjoon is right, hyung. It’s not your fault. In fact…I’m glad I left you to care for my mate…I would never trust him with anyone but you,” Jeongguk confessed, and Jin felt just slightly better.

Kai came forward and looked around all the medicines and drinks Jin had accumulated on the Jeon’s night table. He picked up the vial with the vitamin brew. “This is what you gave him?” he asked.

Jin nodded. “Yes, he had fainted earlier because he’s anemic. Taehyung and Yeosang had made him this brew to help him with his pregnancy. I also basically gave him everything on that table to try and bring his fever down.”

Kai opened the vial and brought it to his nose. He winced when he smelled it and it was as if he was triggered—his eyes turned red and he growled as he threw the vial against the floor—the glass shattering and the liquid spilling all over the floor. “You poisoned him!” he growled, body growing angry at the thought that Jimin was surrounded by traitors.

Yoongi and Namjoon were quick to interject, Namjoon pushing Jin behind himself—securing the other’s safety in case Kai attacked. “What the hell is your problem?!” Yoongi yelled back, “How dare you question my mate’s intentions! Taehyung made him that brew himself and how dare you accuse him of such things!”

Before another fight broke between the two alphas, Jeongguk finally left Jimin’s side to come between the two angered alphas. “Both of you stop!” he ordered, and everyone in the room halted. He instead approached Jin, the other coming forward from where he was hidden behind Namjoon and you could tell the alpha wanted to hold him back. “For God’s sake, he’s my brother! He’s not going to hurt me,” Jin argued and Namjoon whined in protest.

“I’m surrounded by idiots,” the older omega murmured, but Jeongguk heard him loud and clear.

“Hyung, who else got their hands on this vial?” he asked, and his stance was clear—he was on his last bits of patience.

Jin shrugged. And he knew. He knew his answer was going to lead to destruction. He had never felt so scared before. “It could have been anyone at this point! The basket was thrown outside for who knows how long. Anyone could have easily gotten their hands on it!”

Jeongguk let out a desperate growl, hands pulling at his hair strands. Anguish and desperation clear on his face. And Jin had been right.

“When will this end?! For how long will we keep living like this?!” the Head Alpha yelled in anger and in a bout of rage, he ran towards the wall and punched it in anger and frustration. He kept howling in fury and pain, hands still throwing punches at any objects he could see—leaving pure destruction behind. The air was thick with overwhelming scent. And Jeongguk felt himself slowly losing it.

All the pent up anger and frustration that had built up in the last few days was finally leaving his body in the form he could best handle right now—destruction. He was angry. He was worried. Jimin! Jimin and his pup! He yelled and yelled as he broke more vases around the room, the glass shattering—shattering like his heart. Into a million pieces.

In the far distance he could hear people screaming for him to stop. But no…he wanted to hurt. To destroy. To avenge. He felt his alpha breaking through the last bits of his humanity, taking over in his rage.

But then he heard him. His voice. It was soft, pleading…but Jeongguk heard it as clear as day. He would fall to his knees for that voice.

It was as if his head suddenly cleared and he finally took notice of the things going on around him. He looked around the room—now half destroyed with broken vases and tables—and he noticed Namjoon had backed Jin up against a corner, arms spread out in protection for the omega. Yoongi was next to them also in a protective stance, eyes weary, and Jeongguk swore he had never seen both Namjoon and Yoongi looked so scared before.

Kai was…he was in a fighting stance, almost as if he was actually debating fighting Jeongguk. He nearly laughed at the Park alpha’s stupidity. He wouldn’t even stand a chance.

“Alpha…please…stop,” he heard from his right, and when he turned towards that honey voice, he noticed Jimin was awake once more. The omega was still clutching his tummy, but his eyes held worry for the alpha. And Jeongguk’s rage immediately left him. He hadn’t noticed how much the Rage had constricted him in its grip until he was once again filling his lungs with his omega’s soothing scent. It calmed him like no other.

He approached Jimin on the bed and shoved his face onto the omega’s neck, inhaling his scent greedily. And he was reminded. Reminded of why he was still on this earth. He needed to be there for his mate and pup. Everything was going to be okay. They would figure it out.

“What the hell was that?” Kai asked, breaking the intense silence. Yoongi figured it was safe to move toward the couple on the bed, no longer sensing the rage in the Head Alpha. “That…that was an alpha in Rage. I’m…I’m surprised he managed to snap out of it,” he announced in wonder, and he gulped as he turned to look at Kai. “If Jimin wouldn’t have woken to stop him…we all would’ve been dead.”

Kai shuddered at the alpha’s response. He had never seen anyone in a Rage before—he thought it was only a myth.

Almost as if they were completely going to ignore the fact that Jeongguk nearly ended up killing them all—and ignored all the destruction that surrounded them—Kai approached the couple on the bed. Although a little hesitant still. “Look I understand we’re all worried for Jiminie…but are we going to ignore the fact that Jimin was poisoned? Instead of trying to figure out who might have done it we need to think of how to help him. Do you all have an antidote here?” he asked, and the rest of them were quick to shake their heads in sadness. “That’s going to complicate things, but I think…I have a solution,” he suggested, and Kai had never seen Jeongguk snap his head in his direction so fast before, his full attention on him.

He had piqued the Head Alpha’s interest. “What do you know? Speak!” he commanded, and Kai kept himself from rolling his eyes. “I think the Choi pack might have an antidote for this kind of stuff. I’m not sure, but I think they would know more about this. I’ve smelled a poison like this before…its potent, but not exactly lethal. Although it would be lethal…to the pup. I’ve seen omegas use it when they want to—to abort their offspring.”

Jin gasped from behind Namjoon and Jimin whined in protest in Jeongguk’s arms. “No!” he screamed weakly, “Not my pup! No! Alpha please—”

Jeongguk hugged Jimin tighter as he released calming pheromones. “Jimin, kitten, nothing is going to happen to our pup. You’re…you’re going to protect him right?” he soothed as he caressed Jimin’s cheek in attempts to get him to calm down. Freaking out would certainly not help in this situation. Jimin nodded without question and Jeongguk never felt more proud. Despite his mate being in a compromising condition, he still fought until the end.

“Jiminie it seems like you didn’t drink enough of it…you’re only displaying signs of intoxication so far…and hopefully we’re still in good time to get you the antidote. Although the pup is who runs the highest risk right now, if we don’t treat you it could end up killing you too. The omegas in the Park pack often had the antidote in hand so that wouldn’t happen,” Kai continued, “Since the Park pack burned down I no longer know where I can find that antidote but I have a feeling the Choi pack could help.”

“Well what are we waiting for? Namjoon, gather some beta guards so that I will head for the Choi pack immediately!” Jeongguk ordered, his feelings and fear for the loss of his pup and mate drowning him. He looked down at Jimin in his arms, and the omega looked scared. He was scared that Jeongguk would leave him there…by himself. “Jimin, I have to go. Please understand that if I don’t get you that antidote both you and our pup will die!” he pleaded the other to understand.

Before Jimin managed to either agree or disagree with the Head Alpha’s pleas, Kai came forward. “You are going to stay here Jeongguk. Jimin needs you by his side…it could help him hold on while we find the antidote,” he stated, concern for Jimin clear in his eyes.

“You can’t expect me to do nothing! He’s my mate!” Jeongguk argued, fully disagreeing with the other alpha.

I will be going to the Choi pack—” Kai started, and was quick to push Jeongguk back on the bed when the other was about to stand in protest, “Listen, Head Alpha, for once. The Choi pack already know me and would be willing to help me out. Not only that, but I also know what the antidote looks like. I’m our best bet right now—and besides, I promised I would take care of Jiminie and I don’t plan on ever breaking that promise.”

Jeongguk looked like he was ready to protest, the alpha in him completely against the idea of staying here while another alpha fetched for antidote that was meant for his mate. He took one last look at Jimin and made his decision. He hugged the omega tighter. “Fine. I will trust you with this. Realize that you carry the fate of my mate in your hands. I hope I’m not making a mistake by trusting you.”

Jimin squeezed his hand and Jeongguk turned to look down at him. “You can trust him, alpha. I’m in good hands and thank you for staying here with me,” he whispered lightly. He was still sweaty, his hair sticking to his forehead, and his breathing was still coming out in slight pants. He would wince every once in a while, the abdominal pain reminding them that they were on borrowed time.

Jimin turned his attention to Kai and tried his best to smile. “Thank you, Kai.”

Kai smiled back and dismissed the omega’s thanks, stating he would do it without hesitation if it meant it saved Jimin’s life. Jeongguk was quick to interject, “Well what are you still doing here? Make your way to the Choi pack!” he chastised, alpha voice clear in the air. “Take a beta guard with you and look for that antidote everywhere, even if you have to search under the rocks for it. Nothing will stop you, understand? You won’t stop until you find it!”

Kai grew serious at the other’s order, bowed in agreement, for once in complete synchronization with the Head Alpha. “I will be back Jiminie. I promise.”

And he was out the door.

Yeosang had been called soon after Kai had set off for the Choi pack with their best beta guard. He explained Taehyung’s condition first, at Jimin’s demand, and after hearing that the omega healer would be alright, they were all able to take one more breath of relief.

He explained that Taehyung was in a drug-induced coma, and he predicted that in a couple of days he would wake up. This helped settle one of Jimin’s worries, but the state he was in was slowly drifting him away. It was hard to maintain his eyes open, and if it wasn’t Jeongguk constantly scenting him and rubbing his face, he would have passed out a long time ago.

“The only bad thing is that we need him right now,” Yeosang stated solemnly. “He knows so much more about this than me.” The beta healer approached Jimin and examined him all over, worry and concern obvious in his eyes and demeanor.

Jimin looked sick. He was pale, his body still drenched in sweat, his body shaking claiming he was cold, and his usual beautiful face was pinched in pain. “What happened?” Yeosang asked. “You tell me he was poisoned?”

Jeongguk was still holding onto one of Jimin’s hands, never having left his side. “The vitamin brew you and Taehyung made was meddled with. Apparently they put a poison that aids in getting rid of a pup…and it makes the omega really sick. Please, what can you do to help him while Kai retrieves an antidote?” he begged, and Yeosang had never seen the Head Alpha look so hopeless.

“Someone is fetching an antidote? Well that’s….good. I hope they are able to quickly get back with it so Jimin doesn’t suffer any complications,” Yeosang answered, surprise appearing on his face for only a second, before relief settled permanently.

“You need to bring Jimin to the infirmary. There I would have the tools to help him try and flush out the poison from his body. I think an emesis inducer would help him throw it up, but that would dehydrate him faster, so he needs to be put on IV fluids. He needs to be in the healing cabin. That also allows me to keep an eye on Taehyung as well,” Yeosang advised.

“Whatever you think Jimin needs right now consider it done,” Jeongguk agreed without hesitation. “What can be done for my pup? Is there anything you can do?” he asked, concern and fear in what the healer would answer.

“The only thing I can really do is monitor for the fetal heart rate, making sure pup is still alive. If I notice a slowing in fetal tone than I can administer medication as needed to maintain its heart pumping while we wait for the antidote. I hope it comes back quickly,” Yeosang answered, hoping to alleviate a bit of the Head Alpha’s concern.

Jeongguk didn’t really look all that alleviated, but he nodded nonetheless. He got up from where he was kneeling by the bed—Jimin apparently having fallen asleep in the time they were talking—and gently picked the omega up. He made his way towards the door, Yeosang and everyone else following behind. All concerned for the fate of their Head Omega.

“I’ll also need Joyeon’s assistance, she is great with handling omega health,” the beta healer added, following Jeongguk out the cabin, Jimin quiet in his mate’s arms.

“Just do your best for my mate. I don’t…I don’t know what I would do without him.”

When Jeongguk wakes he notices that Joyeon is tending to Jimin’s fever, carefully lying another wet cloth on his mate’s forehead. Jimin still whimpered in his restless sleep, pain evident on his face. It broke Jeongguk’s heart.

It had been two days already. There was no word from Kai yet and Jimin was still suffering. He hadn’t left Jimin’s side for the entirety of the passing days and he was starting to slowly lose hope. Both his mate and pup were still fighting.

“You’re awake Head Alpha,” Joyeon spoke, snapping Jeongguk out his painful thoughts. He brought his free hand to Jimin’s face, the other hand tightly grasping Jimin’s smaller hand. He couldn’t help the distress in his scent from showing, and Jimin responded unkindly to it, face scrunching in disapproval. “You stubborn omega,” Jeongguk noted, “you don’t even allow me to worry over you.”

“You should worry about yourself, Head Alpha. You look like you’re about to pass out,” Joyeon commented, coming over to Jeongguk’s side of the bed and raising a tin cup with liquid in it. Jeongguk looked at her and then the cup, the smell of herbs wafting into his nose. It smelled…weird. “You should drink this. It will help with calming your alpha,” the omega explained, nudging the tin cup towards him.

“Thank you, Joyeon. You didn’t have to,” he said, appreciative of the omega healer. He brought the cup to his lips and took a small sip, the taste of the tea hitting his tongue bitterly. He was reminded of how much he hated tea. He only drank the tea Jimin would create for him because he loved his mate more than anything and he hated seeing the pout the other would sport when he would deny his tea.

He would walk on broken glass for the omega. He could drink a damn tea for goodness sake.

He continued taking a couple sips of the tea and Joyeon seemed pleased with him finally taking care of his own health. It was only after he nearly finished the tea that he noticed just how tired he really was. His eyes were blurry and his head felt heavy. When was the last time he got some good sleep? He didn’t even know what day it was—he had been plastered to Jimin’s bedside ever since the omega got poisoned, unwilling to leave his mate until he was no longer nearing death’s door.

He got up from his seat next to Jimin’s bed, wobbling a little on his feet. The room was spinning for a second and he realized he was a lot more tired than he took account for. Jimin was going to be furious when he found out Jeongguk hadn’t really been eating or sleeping while he was fighting for his life. The male omega was just as stubborn and overprotective as him.

Joyeon took notice of Jeongguk’s struggle, immediately coming to his side. “Head Alpha? Are you okay?” she asked, worry in her eyes. Jeongguk initially intended to play it off, but he felt weird inside. He needed to lay down. “I’m just tired,” he answered.

Joyeon took his arm and brought it over her shoulders, taking some of his weight and pushing the alpha forward. “Come. Let’s get you home, Head Alpha. You need some good sleep,” she said, leading Jeongguk toward the infirmary door. When she noticed the alpha was about to resist, his head turning to look back at Jimin, she continued. “Jimin will be okay. Yeosang is scheduled to come look over him in a couple minutes. He’ll be fine.”

Jeongguk felt fuzzy inside, not providing much resistance when the omega continued leading him out of the healing cabin and towards his home. His legs felt a little heavy as they made their way to the cabin, feet slightly dragging along, and his head was going around in circles. He was glad Joyeon had a strong grip on him because otherwise he would have toppled over.

He had never felt this way before. He must have exhausted himself to the point of deliriousness. Because he felt delirious right now—he didn’t even take notice that they were already inside of his home, the warmth of the cabin enveloping him like a hug. His head was still spinning, vision blackening in and out, and he felt on the verge of passing out.

A delicious smell wafted up his nose, and his alpha stirred just slightly in response. “Alpha, please, lie on the bed,” he heard from beside him, and he was momentarily stunned. He turned his head quickly and came across Jimin’s beautiful face, the omega looking at him slightly confused.

He couldn’t believe it. Jimin was right here, in front of him, finally healthy and as beautiful as ever. “Baby, Jimin, you’re here,” he whispered in relief, and he came forward to grab onto the omega’s cheeks, although the skin around his fingers didn’t quite feel right. “Jimin, kitten, I missed you so much,” he cried, smile appearing on his face at seeing his mate.

Jimin looked at him confused for a quick second, but just as quickly a wide smile appeared on his face. Jeongguk was whipped.

“Alpha, please, come lay in bed with me,” Jimin suggested, embracing the alpha dearly, his face coming to rest on Jeongguk’s neck.

Jeongguk could hear the omega taking deep inhales of his scent and his heart warmed. He brought his nose to Jimin’s hair, the alpha in him purring at having the omega in his arms again. He took one lungful breath in and noticed Jimin’s scent smelled…wrong? His head continued to feel incredibly light and he was worried he was imagining things. “Jimin, why do you smell weird? Are you in…heat?” he asked, worried the other had entered a heat while he was in this ridiculous state.

Jimin purred in his arms. “I think I’m in preheat…I don’t really know alpha…you just…you smell so good,” he continued, planting kisses on the alpha’s neck, sucking and nipping lightly. When Jimin got close to his mating mark the alpha felt his skin burn, and Jimin immediately snapped back. “Careful, kitten, don’t bite too hard,” Jeongguk teased, although he couldn’t understand why something inside him was fighting…fighting against Jimin’s caresses.

Jeongguk felt like he was floating on clouds. His mind felt like it was floating but his body felt so heavy. He suddenly felt his back hit the bed, Jimin having pushed him on it, the omega now climbing on top of him. “Let me pleasure you alpha—I promise it’ll feel good—” Jimin continued.

Jeongguk blinked in his haze. He felt rising desire at the other’s words, but it didn’t…feel right. What was wrong with him? This was his mate! He needed to care for him while he was in preheat. It didn’t matter if he was feeling like death right now, he would pleasure his mate no matter what. “Jimin, baby, what do you need?” he asked as he ran his hands over the omega’s back. He frowned in confusion. Jimin’s body didn’t feel right—the skin wasn’t as soft, the back muscles too spongy—unlike Jimin’s usual lithe but equally muscular back.

But his head felt foggy, the physical desire for the omega running in his veins, betraying his confusing thoughts. Before he further questioned his conflicting feelings, he felt Jimin’s mouth prodding his open, the omega’s lips catching onto his and sucking his lower lip fervently. He responded without question, kissing Jimin ardently, his tongue prodding at the other’s mouth. His trailed his tongue on the roof of the omega’s mouth, sucking on Jimin’s tongue. It tasted…wrong.

He heard Jimin let out a whimper, the scent in the air thickening. The smell was doing things to Jeongguk’s alpha—driving the wolf mad with an innate desire to please the omega but a conflicting emotion not allowing it to proceed further. Jeongguk had never felt so confused—he felt like his head was going to split in two.

He continued exploring the omega’s mouth, head swirling and body burning. He literally felt like he was on drugs—was this what it felt like to be high? It wasn’t until he was nipping and sucking on Jimin’s neck that he felt it. It felt wrong, wrong, wrong. He halted in his movement, blinking his eyes harshly in attempts of shaking off the blurriness. He felt Jimin start to drive his hips onto his thigh, releasing moans of arousal.

He looked at the omega above him again and for a second he caught sight of blonde hair and green eyes…and no, no that couldn’t be right, he thought. For a second he saw Joyeon, the omega healer, above him—the female omega shaking in her desire. But in the next second, he blinked and saw Jimin.

What was going on?

His head was pounding and the thick scent of omega heat was nearly choking him. He felt torn in two. “Alpha, please, it hurts,” Jimin begged, releasing whimpers at the alpha no longer responding. “Aren’t you going to please me? Are you going to deny your mate? We need you alpha.”

First of all, Jeongguk was never one to deny Jimin of anything. But his alpha growled at the omega questioning his abilities as alpha. It drove his alpha insane in wanting to prove the omega wrong. It didn’t matter if he was on the verge of passing out, his head wanting to explode—he was going to please his omega because his alpha pride wouldn’t allow him otherwise.

He grabbed Jimin’s face and proceeded to envelop his mouth, lips harsh in their sucking of the omega’s quivering lips. He didn’t even question that the omega’s lips didn’t feel quite as soft—they weren’t equally as plump—as the desperation to prove his alpha status drove him forward.

It’s not until he’s about to make way with Jimin’s pants that he realizes something—the thought finally pushing through all the haziness in his head. Why was Jimin in heat? Heats were incredibly rare while in pregnancy, especially for a male omega.

He stopped his movements, ready to ask Jimin if he was okay—admit that he honestly felt everything was wrong—when he heard the door to the cabin slam open. The fresh air that came through the open door helped relieve some of the pressure in his head. And it was as if everything cleared in his mind.

“Get off of him!” he heard someone yell, and Jimin was suddenly yanked from above him. His alpha snarled in protest, ready to attack whomever had dared to lay their hands on Jimin, interrupting their time together when Jimin was vulnerable with heat.

He growled at the intruder, but it wasn’t until the other’s strong alpha scent hit his nose that he had a moment of clarity. He blinked in confusion, vision finally clearing enough for him to fully embrace the image in front of him. And it was an ugly sight.

He saw Namjoon holding back a struggling omega, the alpha sending concerning looks between the two of them, conflict shining in his eyes—it was obvious the alpha didn’t know what to think or do. Jeongguk took one look at the omega in Namjoon’s hold, and now having a clearer mind, he noticed it was not his Jimin.

It was Joyeon. She was in heat and Jeongguk had nearly slept with her. If Namjoon hadn’t arrived on time…he would have…

No. No. No. His heart broke at the realization—he screamed in pain at the thought that he had betrayed his mate. What was going on? Had he been drugged?

Jimin! Jimin! Please…forgive me

He curled in on himself and let out the most devasting howl the village had ever heard.

The wolf watched the scene unfold in front of him with glee. He watched through the Jeon’s window as the Head Alpha betrayed his own mate, everything going according to plan.

Now you’re mine, Jimin. You’re all MINE.
