"Honey, I'm home," Cloud called softly as he knocked on the bedroom door, unsure if Squall was awake.

The kitchen light had been left on, though it was typical for one of them to do so if the other was coming home late, and it was almost always left on throughout the night anyway.

("It creates just enough light for people to see we're home but not enough that they can see much of our stuff," Squall had logically explained when Cloud asked why he was so anal about that particular habit. He'd never been robbed before, but he was an extremely cautious person. Because of this, that rule had been instilled from the very first night they shared in their new home. It was just another one of his quirks that Cloud had become rather fond of.)

The rest of the lights in the house were off except for within their bedroom, which was on the dimmest setting.

Squall smiled at his soft voice drifting into the room. He and Cloud called each other 'honey' as a joke at first, making fun of sappy, domestic couples, but by now it was a habit they really had no desire to break, though neither would ever admit to actually liking the term of endearment.

"Hey," he murmured, shifting so that he was sitting upright against the headboard rather than in the slouched, half-laying down position he had been in a moment before. "How are you?" he asked quietly, smiling at the blonde as he approached the bed and leaned down for a chaste kiss.

"You taste good," Cloud mused, kissing him again. A small smile of his own tugged the corners of his lips upward as Squall hummed, pleased at the open affection he was receiving. "When did we buy chocolate?" he asked when he pulled away.

"Aerith - "

"Ah, no further explanation needed," Cloud interrupted with a grin, kneeling down on the floor beside the bed, raking his hands through his lover's soft brown bangs.

Squall laughed and rolled his eyes. "She gave them to me when I swung by her shop. I bought the flowers, she gave me fancy chocolate. Homemade. It's in the fridge; she said it would stay extra fresh that way," he shrugged. "Figured she knew what she was talking about."

Cloud licked his lips at the thought of her delicious homemade chocolate and made a mental note to try some in the morning.

"So you bought me flowers, huh?" he asked with a smirk as he continued to pet him.

"Yeah. I'm a nice boyfriend," Squall mumbled, covering his yawn.

"What kind?" Cloud asked curiously, too tired himself to even pretend he was testing Squall with the question.

"My favourite," the blonde smiled softly. "You remembered."

"Of course I did, Cloud." He stretched his arms above his head and watched bright blue eyes follow the movement. "You're lucky you weren't there. Yuffie was helping Aerith out. Almost attacked me the second I asked Aerith if she had any daisies, called us 'adorable.' Said I'd tell you 'hello' from her, by the way," he said sleepily, yawning again. Cloud leaned forward while he did so, stealing another kiss the second his mouth closed once more.

Squall cupped the back of his neck and rested his forehead against his lover's.

"Did Yuffie handle the chocolates at all before Aerith gave them to you?" Cloud asked suddenly.

"What?" Squall backed away slightly to give him a puzzled look. "I don't think so," he replied, surprised at the question.

"Good. Knowing her, she would've put some aphrodisiac in it or something disturbing like that," Cloud muttered, shuddering at the thought.

"Hyne," Squall shook his head. "Well, come to bed and we can find out," he couldn't help but suggest with a small smirk as he kissed Cloud's knuckles one by one, though he knew he was too exhausted to actually act on the hinted words.

Cloud reluctantly stepped out of his light grip and stood back up. "Good incentive, I guess," he teased. "But I have to shower," he added with a sigh as he slowly made his way around the other side of the bed to the bathroom. He stopped in the doorway. "Come join me?" he asked hopefully, biting his lip in the way he knew Squall found sexy.

"I would," he smiled. "But I'm about to pass out," he sighed mournfully, finally sliding back down under the covers and allowing himself to get completely comfortable now that he wasn't waiting up for Cloud.

"Poor baby works so hard," Cloud laughed as he watched Squall getting cozy in their bed.

"So do you ... " Squall mumbled. "Which is why you should just come to bed," he added, yawning for a third time and shaking his head at Cloud's raised eyebrows.

"Yeah, I know I do. Which is why I'm all sweaty and gross. And need to shower," he reminded him, running a hand through his spiky locks.

"Sweaty, yes. Gross, no," Squall assured him as he raked his eyes appreciatively over Cloud's form.

"Too bad. I'm still gonna shower." He laughed at the pout that came over Squall's lips for a moment before dropping as if it had never been there in the first place. "And if you're so tired, why weren't you already sleeping when I got home?"

"You know the answer to that," Squall muttered, turning his gaze away from Cloud for a moment as his cheeks warmed.

"Aw, you waited for me," Cloud said with a grin.

"Wanted to talk to you before I fell asleep," the brunette supplied by way of explanation.

"That's cute," Cloud cooed, only partly joking as he leant against the doorframe.

" ... Whatever."

"Kay, go ahead and pout, honey. I'll be back soon."

"You better hurry up and get your little ass in bed before I really do conk out. Otherwise you won't get your nightly cuddles," Squall warned seriously.

"Your ass is smaller than mine," Cloud scoffed, though his face heated up at the words.

"Tighter, too," Squall murmured, just loud enough for his lover to catch.

"Ah, you're right. Can't wait to fuck you in the morning," he smirked. "Love morning sex with my sweet Squallie..."

"Don't call me that," his lover snapped as Cloud just laughed.

"Of course that's the part you cling onto," he said under his breath, shaking his head fondly.

"Excuse me?" the brunette asked with a tired sigh, finally looking back at his boyfriend.

"Night, Squall," Cloud said quietly, smile softening as he watched him pull the covers up to his nose, finally letting his eyes fall shut.

He stepped into the bathroom and undressed quickly, knowing he really would have to be fast with his showering. He wouldn't say it aloud, but he did want to cuddle with Squall before he was dead to the world in his slumber.
