Jungkook found the book during one of his trips to the old bookstore with Namjoon. The little leather bound book was tucked between two big volumes yellowed with time, lost in the messy piles of works in the second-hand section. The corners of the cover were used and torn, and some of the pages covered in weird signs were actually falling from it.
Jungkook scanned a few pages and quickly determined that it had something to do with magic. It was some sort of spell book.
He bought it out of curiosity. Maybe a weird flex, because he was a bit scared of Magick and demons and all that shit, but also wanted to prove to himself that those things did not exist, and that the only thing he should be afraid of was fear itself.
So, yeah. Turns out he was wrong about that.
Seokjin cocked his head left and right to crack his neck before he waved off the remnants of the white smoke that came with his apparition. It had been a few hundred years since the last time he had been summoned by a human. Having a body on this plane of existence after so long was always a weird feeling.
He looked down at the invocation circle: sloppy line work done with cheap chalk. Disappointing. That meant he probably had to deal with a bored human who had tried Magick in their free time.
However, Seokjin had also expected many more candles and darkness in the room. Humans liked to make an aesthetic fuss about summoning a demon.
No candles here, though. No darkness, no stone walls, no smoke or full moon. Just a regular living room bathed in what looked like the mid-afternoon sunlight.
"What the hell?" Seokjin muttered.
That's when he heard a squeaky noise from behind him.
Seokjin spun on his legs with his fists on his hips and a smug smile. "Hello, mor… mortal?" He finished hesitantly when he saw no one at eye level.
Seokjin slowly looked down to finally see the human who had, in all likelihood, summoned him. He was on the floor like he had fallen on his ass, and looked perfectly terrified.
Seokjin sighed. "Let me guess: you thought this book was poppycock and decided to try the incantation to prove it didn't work?"
The cute human with saucer-sized eyes gaped at him and eventually nodded.
"I see how it is." Seokjin took a deep breath in and looked around as he started speaking with his best teaching voice. "You can call me Seokjin. I'm a demon of Lust and you have summoned me. This automatically results in a contract between you and I. My job is to fulfill your deepest desires. In exchange, I obtain your lustful energy, which is a fine delicacy for demons like me. Fulfilling our contract also gives me a higher rank in the demons hierarchy. We get mutual benefit from this. I won't take your soul, we don't have to write with blood. Questions, so far?"
The human blinked. "C-can I, is, what?"
Seokjin nodded and sighed. He sat on the couch, straight and dignified as always. "I'll wait here for you to process everything. Take your time."
Jungkook took his time.
He wouldn't be able to say how much, but after a lot of pinching his own arm and experiencing actual pain, Jungkook’s brain was forced to admit that the situation was… pretty real. That, or he had fainted and was in the middle of the most realistic hallucination ever.
Jungkook had conjured someone out of thin air.
He had made someone--absurdly beautiful, with long pink horns on the top of their head and what appeared to be a tail attached to their lower back--appear in his living room, because he had simply followed the instructions written in a little, innocent-looking book.
But that wasn’t even the part Jungkook’s brain was focusing on right now.
That really, really attractive apparition claimed to be a Lust demon. And that part was a problem.
"I, I don't wanna have sex with you," Jungkook blurted.
The demon blinked. "Well, that's a first." He said with a tone that sounded bored. He looked down at himself. "Is it the body? I'm supposed to appear like the ideal partner for you, but I can change a few things if you wish--"
"N-no, that's not the prob-- wow." Jungkook put his hands in front of his eyes. at the same time Seokjin suddenly grew an opulent chest that his simple tunic did not hide in any way.
"Is that better?" Seokjin asked, and to Jungkook’s utmost horror, got up and came closer as if he didn’t see it perfectly already.
Jungkook shook his head. "N-not really." He was still having a hard time dealing with this preposterous situation, but his brain chose to focus on a clear rendition of Namjoon’s voice in his head, explaining how female nipples weren’t more outrageous than male nipples and he shouldn’t hide his eyes behind his hands.
Seokjin sighed and shifted back to a flat chest. "Okay. We'll work this out. I have all the time in the world, we’ll find out what turns you on."
Jungkook hissed lowly, like he was sorry. "Yeah, um, about that. I don't think that will ever happen..." he said, actually feeling bad for the demon who had probably come a long way for... this.
"What do you mean?" Seokjin said, sticking out his chest and looking offended. "I am a powerful demon, I can lure you into revealing your darkest fantasies to me, I can annihilate shame and make you forget modesty because of all the pleasure I can give, there is no limit to how much I can--"
"I'm asexual!" Jungkook suddenly shouted, slightly overwhelmed with Seokjin's speech.
Seokjin blinked at him, apparently not outraged that Jungkook had rudely interrupted him. "Oh Lord." He sat back on the couch with a heavy puff . "Oh Lord... this really is a first."
Jungkook gulped, not knowing what to do with himself. He was still on his living room floor, where he had fallen the moment Seokjin appeared, and had not yet dared to move.
They sat in silence, Seokjin looking utterly focused on his thoughts and Jungkook trying to breathe as silently as possible, until he couldn't take it anymore.
"So, uh. I'm really sorry. That um, you had to travel over here?" He had no idea what the distance was between demon world and human world. "If you need a little time to go back, or lunch? Something to drink?" What was the etiquette when your guest was a demon? "W-wine? Do you want wine?" He finally got up, his legs a little wobbly.
Seokjin closed his eyes and shook his head. "I can't go back."
Jungkook frowned. Was it some kind of demon pride who couldn't face his peers if he had not fucked the human who had summoned him? "You can tell them we uh. Did the thing. Whatever thing. You can make it extra dirty if you want."
Seokjin sighed, and it sounded frustrated this time. "You don't understand. I can't go back until I've had sex with you. Once I'm summoned, the contract is in place, I must fulfil my obligations under this contract to be able to leave."
Jungkook blinked. "What? What obligations?”
“These obligations!” Seokjin pointed at some glyphs in the summoning circle Jungkook had drawn. “It’s written right here!”
Jungkook blinked and looked at the signs, trying to pretend he totally understood what was written there.
Seokjin got up in all his gorgeous glory, moving his arms in frustration. “I won't be able to leave until we properly assuage your desires!"
Jungkook felt all blood leave his face. "A-are you gonna f-force me to, to have sex, because I have holy water somewhere, and m-my parents go to church every Sunda--"
Seokjin made a disgusted face. "Force you? Force you? " He shivered violently. "Disgusting. Rape is an abomination. The energy that comes from it is sour and toxic, it is impossible to enjoy. It's a repulsive practice that shouldn't even exist, no self-respecting Lust demon would ever think about it.” He shivered exaggeratedly. “I am revolted, revolted that you would entertain the idea I might ever lay a finger on someone who is not entirely willing to share carnal pleasure with me!"
Jungkook was somewhat relieved, but Seokjin's new monologue was starting to give him a headache. "I-I'm sorry--"
"I'll have you know, little nameless human, that you’re the first creature to refuse my services! I don't need to force anyone! Humans and others beg me to pleasure them!"
Seokjin blinked and, once again, Jungkook was struck with how pretty he was.
"You said nameless human." Jungkook replied. "My name's Jungkook."
Seokjin stared at him, his broad shoulders sloping a little. "Oh."
Seokjin cleared his throat. “Well, Jungkook. It pains me not to be able to leave, but for now, I am actually stuck with you.”
Jungkook chewed on his bottom lip, worried. What if that was a weird plan to convince him to have sex? After all, demons were better known for being deceiving, rather than their honesty and integrity.
After a short silence, Seokjin’s stomach grumbled loudly. “Uh. I’m starving.”
Being around Seokjin for the past 30 minutes put Jungkook’s mind a little more at ease. Or, his brain just adapted because it couldn’t stay in crisis mode for more than 10 minutes, but anyway. Jungkook felt less on edge, and more able to deal with the crazy situation that had fallen on him.
Seokjin had not tried to touch him or make weird innuendos so far. He had simply followed Jungkook to watch him make water boil and open two cups of spicy ramen.
“Are you, um, cold?”
Seokjin snorted. “My body is always at the ideal temperature. If it’s modesty that bothers you, I can cover up.”
Jungkook shook his hands. “N-no! I mean, you can wear whatever you want, it just looks--”
Seokjin chuckled this time. “It’s okay. I just want you to be comfortable.” He stared at Jungkook who was wearing a white tee and a dark pair of sweatpants and suddenly, he was wearing the same thing. Except that his sweatpants were pink. “Better?”
“Wow.” Jungkook said because. He had made clothes appear like it was nothing. And in Jungkook’s world, it wasn’t nothing.
“Thank you.” Seokjin answered, looking proud of himself. “Can I look around? I haven’t been in the human world in ages, and usually I don’t get time to explore when I’m here.” He said, then whispered to himself, “It’s the day of the firsts.”
“Oh?” Jungkook asked curiously, “Why not?” Maybe he was way too casual for the situation. His brain had certainly adapted quite fast.
Seokjin snorted as he opened a drawer and rummaged through it. “Because usually, when I appear, humans want to get down to business right away, if you know what I mean.” He grabbed a garlic press and looked at it curiously. “And you know, once it’s done, I naturally disappear, so.”
Jungkook felt naive and blushed right away, but Seokjin was too focused on the garlic press, holding the two handles and whispering to himself, ‘what in the fresh heaven is that?’, to notice Jungkook’s embarrassment.
“How--how long do you usually stay?” Jungkook suddenly asked, like it was important to show he could handle this conversation normally.
Seokjin put the garlic press back in the drawer and shut it before opening another. “Hmm, depends. A few hours, sometimes a few days. Some humans have a lot of desires, and it’s Magick that decides when I leave. When the contract is fulfilled.”
“How are you so calm?” Jungkook suddenly asked.
Seokjin turned around, an ice cream scoop in his hand. “What do you mean?”
Jungkook was frustrated and annoyed that he seemed to be the only one to stress about the whole situation. “I’m not gonna have sex with you.”
Seokjin sighed. “Yeah, I know. You’ve made that clear.”
“Even if you stay for a long, long time, I won’t change my mind.” Jungkook added, combing his fingers through his hair, impatient.
Seokjin looked a little… pained. “Do you think I’m staying in the hope that you will… what, cave?” Seokjin said with disgust. “Do you think I enjoy imposing myself in your life when I represent everything that you don’t want? This is not fun for me either, you know.”
If he was honest, Jungkook had not thought that Seokjin would see things that way. He had assumed that Seokjin found himself in a complicated situation, and that he would try anything to get out of it, regardless of Jungkook’s feelings. The way demons and stuff like that were depicted in movies and stories.
Jungkook had made a lot of assumptions tonight, based on the poor knowledge he had of demons and Lust. Which was less than minimal.
Seokjin groaned, moving the scoop in the air like a conductor’s baton. “Listen, Jungkook. I don’t like tormenting humans. I’m not here to pressure you to send me back, I’m here because I don’t have a choice. If you’d rather I stop talking and moving and breathing, I can do that.”
The kettle suddenly beeped. After a beat of hesitation, Jungkook walked mechanically to take it and pour the boiling water in the cups. He closed them back slowly to wait for the ramen to be ready.
After a long silence, Jungkook muttered “You’re the first demon I’ve met.”
Seokjin smiled humorlessly. “Yeah, I get that often.”
“I thought you had bad intentions. I’m sorry.”
Seokjin sighed. “That’s not your fault, I know the reputation demons have.” He put the scoop back into the drawer. “That’s usually the Wrath demons fault. Lust demons are quite peaceful. And horny.”
Seokjin smiled, and Jungkook allowed himself to smile timidly in return.
Jungkook still didn’t understand how Seokjin could be so calm if he knew that Jungkook wasn’t going to have sex with him. No sex meant he was stuck in the human world, according to his own words, and Jungkook thought it was enough of a good reason to panic.
But then again, demons seemed to think differently.
Jungkook decided to sleep in his bathroom that night. His bathroom was the only room with a lock.
He didn’t have much of a choice in this position: he couldn’t decently go to a friend and tell them he had summoned a demon, because they would likely ask him if he had banged his head somewhere and would probably drive him to the ER. Even if he showed them Seokjin, apparently Jungkook was the only one who could see his horns and tail in this realm. Because he was the summoner.
Going to a hotel probably seemed a bit intense since Seokjin had shown no threatening behaviour, and Jungkook was uncomfortable leaving a stranger alone in his apartment.
So he had informed Seokjin that he would sleep in the bathroom, trying not to feel dumb. It was his place; he could do whatever he wanted.
Thankfully, Seokjin had simply nodded at that and wished him good night. It had helped with not feeling dumb that Seokjin didn’t make fun of him.
Jungkook grabbed his pillows and his blanket and locked himself in the bathroom. Seokjin was probably capable of bursting that door open if he wanted to, but that lock made Jungkook feel a little more at ease. A little less ridiculous for making a blanket nest in his own bathtub.
Seokjin stared at the bathroom door that Jungkook had locked. He could feel his energy, a little agitated still, but tired and ready to sleep.
It was terribly cute. Like a very small bunny curling in on itself to sleep. It made Seokjin want to punch something. He loved cute things.
He also wasn’t used to feeling that kind of energy from a human--they were usually horny when they summoned him. It was strange, and... refreshing.
Jungkook’s energy progressively calmed down, and he fell asleep at some point.
He had expected something of the sort, Jungkook sleeping elsewhere in a locked place. After all, Seokjin was a complete stranger, and a demon at that. Humans were wary of them.
But now, Jungkook was sleeping. Content, Seokjin stopped staring at the door and explored the living room to learn a bit more about that human.
Plants and pictures on the shelves, little colorful statuettes and many, many books. He picked up a few. They were books about fictional stories, castles, monsters, knights and magic.
He also spotted a desk with a number of items he had never seen before, wide and black and flat. And sketchbooks. Quite a few of them. Seokjin flipped through a few pages, and finally went to the couch to learn more about his human.
He read a book, and then another, and another, trying to learn facts in the hopes that it would make Jungkook feel more at ease. The energy of a human who was constantly stressed or anxious was definitely not a great feeling for Seokjin.
He was still reading when the sun rose on the mortal realm.
A few hours later, Jungkook left the bathroom looking groggy and slightly disoriented. He froze when he saw Seokjin on the couch. “You’re still here.”
Seokjin gave him his most amiable smile and answered softly. “I’m still here.”
Jungkook pouted, his eyes barely open. Eventually he sighed. “I really thought I had a vivid nightmare because ofindigestion.”
Seokjin squinted. “Nope. Your fragile stomach is fine for now.”
“I’m not fragile .” Jungkook groaned, almost disgusted. “One time, I ate six cups of spicy noodles in a single evening,” Jungkook said.
Seokjin laughed and followed him to the kitchen.
Jungkook remained silent during most of breakfast.
Seokjin was still testing the waters with Jungkook, so he didn’t talk for now. He didn’t know how much time he would have to stay with this human, but if he could make him comfortable, that would be nice. Seokjin wasn’t fond of having people terrified around him. In awe of his beauty or laughing at his jokes, yes. Scared, not really. That wasn’t sexy.
“What is your plan of action?” Jungkook suddenly asked to his bottle of banana milk.
Seokjin raised an eyebrow and pointed at himself. “Who? Me?”
Jungkook frowned and raised his eyes. “Yes, you.”
Seokjin smiled. “Ah. There, you looked at me.”
Jungkook pouted and looked at his bottle before he seemed to remember and looked back at Seokjin.
Seokjin crossed his arms on the table. “Well. Two options. Number one, a friend of mine is going to notice my absence, start searching the multiple planes of existence, come to the Human one at some point, and feel my presence here. If that happens, you won’t be able to see them, so don’t start panicking if I start talking to myself.”
Jungkook raised his eyebrows. “O-kay?”
“Number two,” Seokjin continued, “One of my friends has been summoned nearby. They’ll feel my presence and after their contract is done, they’ll come here. You won’t be able to see them--please refer to previous note about me talking to myself all of a sudden.”
Jungkook snorted softly. “Noted.”
Seokjin sighed. “Hopefully, it will be one of my knowledgeable friends, because I’ve never heard of a contract made by an asexual human…”
Jungkook lowered his eyes instantly. “I didn’t know it would… Like, call a demon of Lust, specifically.”
Seokjin looked at Jungkook with a patience that looked like fondness. “Oh I bet you didn’t, sweetheart.”
Jungkook instantly tensed and Seokjin put his hand on his mouth. “Sorry. I give everyone pet names.” He bowed down a little as an apology. “Bad habit. Won’t happen again.”
Jungkook nodded. “Okay.” He sipped on his banana milk. “When you say they’re gonna track you here… do you mean that other demons are gonna come here? Like, to my apartment?”
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. “Well, I don’t want to brag, but I’m highly ranked. My prolonged absence is bound to be noticed.” Seokjin tapped his fingers on the table, pensive. “That’s also why I haven’t been summoned for a while. Lower ranked demons are usually enough for this kind of contract.”
Jungkook cocked his head to the side, like an unconscious twitch. “But then, why are you here?”
Seokjin shrugged. “Magick works in mysterious ways.”
“You mean you didn’t choose to come?”
“I mean,” Seokjin crossed his arms, pretending to be defensive, but slouched the next second. “No, I didn’t. Magick decides. It’s been so long that when I got the tingling feeling that tells me I’m summoned, I almost couldn’t believe it!” He laughed exaggeratedly, hoping that Jungkook would follow suit.
He didn’t really. He was still frowning and his energy was… cloudy.
Seokjin sighed. “Jungkook, don’t worry. I’ll go back to my circle of Hell, I can assure you of that. There is a way to fulfill that contract peacefully, otherwise Magick wouldn’t have linked me to you.”
Jungkook kept biting on the inside of his lips. “But, is it not, like, dangerous for you? To be stuck here?”
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. “Maybe I haven’t been clear. I’m a powerful demon. I command legions and I can make use Magick. If a human tries to hurt me, they’re gonna have a nasty surprise.”
Jungkook gaped a little, but shook his head. “That’s, that’s not what I meant. Like, our world, is it not toxic for you or…”
“... Or what?” Seokjin pressed, not sure where this was going.
“I don’t know!” Jungkook moved his hands quickly. “Like, can’t you die or be super sick or something?”
Seokjin laughed high and loud. “Fear not, Jungkook. I’ll be fine. I could stay here for centuries before it starts affecting me, and the only thing affected will be my speech abilities.” He sighed. “Language evolves in such weird ways.”
Jungkook squinted. “Uh. Okay.”
“I swear I'll stay out of your way! I won’t be a burden.” Seokjin continued, trying to be reassuring. He wanted this to work, he wanted to spend as much of a good time as he could because, if he was honest, he had no idea how long it would take for one of his friends to notice his absence. Demons had a very different appreciation of time, since they lived thousands of human years.
Jungkook sighed. “That’s not what I meant. Like…”
Seokjin waited for the end of that sentence. Jungkook’s energy felt like it was clearing up a little.
Jungkook took a deep breath. “You’ve been okay, so far. And I’ve had roommates in the past, so that’s not really a problem. I was just wondering if you’d be okay.”
Seokjin blinked. “Jungkook.” He tried not to smile too hard, and failed. “Were you actually worried about my well-being?”
Jungkook stood up suddenly, his chair screeching on the kitchen floor. “Whatever, I’m just being nice, that’s how I was raised, it’s polite . And I have stuff to do. Shower.” He grumbled and went to his bedroom.
Seokjin blinked, suddenly alone in the kitchen. He had not expected that Jungkook might actually be worried about him. After all, they had just met. Surely, you couldn’t worry about someone you had just met, right?
Humans could be surprising.
Jungkook was an introvert, but that didn’t mean he was entirely hopeless when it came to understanding others.
After he had spent a safe night in his bathroom, and a safe breakfast in the morning, he had realised a few things.
Number one, Seokjin was trying.
Jungkook had seen the books by the couch, in a neat pile, clearly handled with care. He did everything to reassure Jungkook about his intentions. He even apologised and bowed down when he called him with a pet name.
Number two, Seokjin was worried.
He had to be, at least a little. He was facing a whole new and unexpected situation, and that was always uncomfortable. But he chose not to show it for Jungkook’s sake, trying to make him laugh at every occasion.
All in all… Seokjin was making an effort to make Jungkook feel at ease. Or, for their life with each other. Whatever it was, he was doing it out of selflessness. Or at least partly. Or maybe he was cleverly manipulative and Jungkook was a fool, but he would rather be a trusting fool with someone who gave him signs that he could be trusted.
That bit made Jungkook feel weird. In a good way--weird warm, weird pleased. Weird unexpected. He liked it. He liked seeing he could (cautiously) trust new people, even if he was shy at first. He felt proud of himself.
So, he thought he should show Seokjin that he was willing to make it work, too.
After his shower, he dressed up and went to his desk to work. Seokjin was sitting on the couch, reading books.
Jungkook was trying to edit a sketch when he gathered the courage to ask, “How’s the book?”
Seokjin blinked, and then smiled very brightly. “Are you finally at ease with me, Jungkook? Are we gonna bond like brothers and go on an adventure together involving camping and fight our common enemies while you confide in me with your deepest secrets that I swear not to share with anyone?”
Jungkook had already started laughing halfway into the second sentence. “What are you talking about?”
Seokjin smiled. He looked very pleased. “Your books. There’s always some kind of bonding between the protagonists who go on a life-learning adventure of some sort.”
“What do you mean, you’ve read my books?”
Seokjin pointed at the pile. It was, like, a dozen novels.
Jungkook gaped. “You can’t have read all of them.”
Seokjin snorted. “Half of them! It’s not advanced alchemy, it was pretty simple to grasp.” He nodded. “I liked this one, in particular.”
Jungkook instantly forgot that no human was capable of reading that fast, in favor of excitement. Sharing passion and interests was his favorite thing in the world. “What did you like in it?”
“Well, it’s quite fascinating how the story puts you in a whole new world, with a lot of details, and it feels so real, and you understand it like you’ve been living there all your life.”
Jungkook couldn’t help but nod enthusiastically at this. “Yes! That author has written a few different stories, but it’s that same feeling every time.” He looked at the shelf where they were and got up. “They’re here! This one’s about pirates and magic, and this one’s about a tribe in the mountain, guarding dragons--”
He suddenly stopped in his speech as the feeling of self-consciousness overwhelmed him. He was being too intense. Surely, Seokjin didn’t actually care, he was just trying to be nice to put Jungkook at ease.
Now Jungkook felt stupid.
He was about to turn around and… apologize, or brush it off, anything, but suddenly felt someone at his side.
Seokjin was looking at the books on the shelf. “Which one’s about the pirates?”
Jungkook was floored for a second, but shook his head and took the big book (limited edition thank you very much). “This one.”
Seokjin took it and stroked the cover with the tip of his fingers. “It’s a beautiful book. You’re sure I can read it?”
Jungkook smiled. “Books are made to be read.”
Seokjin nodded. “Indeed.”
They stared at each other and Jungkook was reminded how flustered he was with beautiful faces, until he cleared his voice and went back to his desk. “So um. The plan is that you read all my books until a demon pops up to see where you’re at?”
Seokjin was still smiling at the book when he replied, “Yes. That’s the plan.”
Daily life with a demon.
YAY!!!! I didn't think ace Kook would receive such a warm welcome!!! Thank you so much for the kind words!!
Here is the next chapter, sponsoed by the best sweetest beta my cinnabun Kim!!! ♡♡♡♡
There were a few things that had to be put into place the first day of living with a demon, and Jungkook thought he would have to tackle them on his own, like a responsible adult.
"You can’t sleep forever in your bathtub. You need to preserve that sensitive human spine of yours." Seokjin said with a smile.
Jungkook blinked. He had just finished getting dressed and left his bedroom to find Seokjin sitting on the couch.
Seokjin squinted. “Is that your puzzled face? I can’t tell for sure. Let’s say it is.” He cleared his throat. “Demons don’t need much sleep compared to humans. I can stay here, in the living room, while you sleep in your bedroom. I promise I won’t come in without your permission.”
Jungkook felt somewhat insulted on behalf of his not-that-sensitive spine, but he didn't have a lot of knowledge regarding demon spines, so he chose to shut up about that part. “Alright. Let’s try that then. Be careful, I’m a very light sleeper, I’ll know if you come into my bedroom.” Big fat lie, he slept through his alarm most of the time, but Seokjin didn’t need to know that.
“Your sleep is safe with me.” Seokjin looked at him up and down. “You don’t vary your outfits much, do you?”
Jungkook gaped in shock and the beginning of irritation. “Excuse me?”
“And it’s absolutely no problem!” Seokjin added quickly. “There, look!” He made matching clothes appear on his body, except they were pink instead of black.
Jungkook was definitely not used to seeing clothes magically appear, but he tried to act as if it was nothing that impressive. “You like pink, uh?””
“Yes!” Seokjin said proudly. “It’s soft and strong at the same time. Just like me.” He winked.
Jungkook frowned and looked elsewhere. He didn’t like it when strangers tried to flirt with him.
“Ah.” Seokjin said, softer this time. “Sorry about that. I won’t do it again.” He cleared his throat. “So, tell me, what’s a normal day look like for you??”
Jungkook sighed. He had to make this work, it was the sensible choice. “Come with me.”
Seokjin instantly got on his feet and followed Jungkook to his bedroom.
"I work from here." He told Seokjin, showing his desk. "I draw illustrations for books and games. And I really need silence to focus. I've been assigned a very important project lately and I've got a lot of work."
Seokjin smiled sweetly. "Message received. You won't hear me, you'll forget I even exist."
Jungkook doubted that he would forget Seokjin was here. Everything about him was just loud and flamboyant, and he had a, a demon tail! And horns! One does not simply forget about horns.
It was really hard to think that cohabitation would be easy. Seokjin seemed to believe he could make it work, but Jungkook was an introvert working from home. He valued his alone time immensely.
The first day passed without anything bad happening. Seokjin stayed in the living room, remarkably silent. He came when Jungkook called for lunch, for dinner, ate his instant ramen with an amicable smile on his face. Watched TV with Jungkook, looking like he wanted to ask a thousand questions but never asking.
Jungkook needed him not to. It was hard to explain, but when Seokjin didn't talk, it made him feel thankful.
Seokjin didn't talk that night. He just said good night when Jungkook went to bed.
The next day went exactly the same. Nothing bad happened. Minimal interaction and blissful silence.
That was a huge relief. Jungkook desperately needed time alone in his head, whether it was for work or personal reasons. He needed time alone to think about how he felt and understand his own emotions.
The third day, during breakfast, Seokjin asked if he could rummage through Jungkook's kitchen.
Jungkook blinked. "Uh?"
Seokjin licked his lips. "To pass time. I promise I won't make noise, I'll be very careful and I won't misplace anything." He blurted, like he had thought long and hard about this answer.
To pass time. Jungkook had completely not thought about the fact that Seokjin might be bored to death. And he had not bothered Jungkook once during the past three days.
"Of course." Jungkook said, and he might have sound a bit too eager to please. "I mean. Yeah. I also have a lot of books, if you wanna read."
Seokjin looked surprised. Then he smiled, and it was vibrant. It made something squeeze in Jungkook's chest, probably demon powers or something.
"I would really love to read more of your books. Thank you so much."
Before working that day, Jungkook grabbed a few books from his collection and put them on the coffee table. Seokjin smiled at him and bowed slightly. "Thank you."
Jungkook's cheeks were warm when he went back to his desk.
Jungkook was grateful for how calm Seokjin was. Seokjin had been pretty thoughtful and considerate.
Jungkook wanted to show his gratefulness.
That's why he started to engage with Seokjin the days that followed. Like you would with a puppy who's been good, waiting for you to finish your task and take care of him.
It started with casual questions, because Jungkook wasn’t the best at… casually breaking the ice.
("Do you like that book?"
"Oh yes, it's amazing!"
"Okay. Well, um, if you need anything, you can help yourself in the kitchen."
"Thank you, I will.")
Jungkook would poke his head in the living room door frame, and just. Talk to Seokjin.
"Oh, hey. Work's going good?"
Jungkook nodded, then pointed at the book Seokjin was holding. "So... Who's your favorite character so far?"
"Well, thank you for asking. You see, I'm very concerned with the magician's destiny, they call him a fool but I can't help but thinking he knows more than we think.")
Seokjin made it so easy to interact it was surprising.
He was always smiling at Jungkook, always ready to engage with him every time Jungkook started talking, and always did it at Jungkook's pace. He didn’t push for more, never made Jungkook uncomfortable.
It didn't take long before Jungkook felt ready to offer a little more. At his own pace.
"So. I'm working on this big project for a card game."
"And it's related to the books you've been reading today."
"Oh, lovely! Do you draw the characters?"
"Yep. And the monsters. And the dragons. I was wondering if you'd like to tell me... What you think of what I’ve done so far?"
After the half second of surprise, Seokjin looked positively delighted. "I would love that. I have a lot of input to give, be prepared.”
Jungkook chuckled, just a bit. “Yeah, I’m sure you do.”)
After that day, Seokjin started talking to Jungkook first.
("Jungkook? Do you have a second?"
Jungkook stretched. "Yes. I have to take a break anyway."
"Superb. I have aligned a series of items from the kitchen, I need you to tell me their names and use.")
He always made sure he wasn't in the way of Jungkook's work. Always so thoughtful in the most natural way.
("Hey. Is this a good time?"
"Ah, can you come back in like, an hour?"
And each interaction made Jungkook’s life with Seokjin easier. Less unwanted demon versus vulnerable human.
Jungkook hummed a question without taking his eyes off his screen.
"I... think I broke something."
This time Jungkook looked at him. “What?”)
("Next time you want tea, just ask me."
"I didn't want to bother you."
"It's nothing. See, you didn't break the kettle. It’s normal that it makes that sound.” Jungkook pushed the button he had showed Seokjin. “Now you know how it works."
"Indeed.” Seokjin sighed. “I liked it better when it was just fire and water."
Jungkook smiled. "But this is much faster. You'll like it in no time.")
One of the notable turning points was when Seokjin offered his help one evening, completely unprompted.
Jungkook looked at Seokjin and scratched his eyes. "Um. Yes?"
"I don't mean to interfere, but you're way past the time you usually go to bed, and you haven't had dinner yet."
Jungkook looked at his watch. "Oh. Oh shit." He put his face in both hands and groaned. "This project is kicking my ass."
Seokjin didn't move for a minute or two, before he offered. "Let's make a deal, I’m good with deals.”
Jungkook raised his eyes weakly, his hands still covering half of his face. He was listening.
“You eat something and take a nap. I'll let you sleep four hours, which is approximately enough for you to barely function, then I'll wake you up and drag you back to work. How does that sound?"
Jungkook took a deep breath. He wanted to retort something snarky, tell Seokjin he would never manage to drag him out of bed, but he didn't even have strength for that. And his plan didn't seem like a bad one.
(Seokjin roared at 5 in the morning. In Jungkook’s bedroom. Very inconvenient. "Your resistance is futile!”
Jungkook groaned and dragged the cover up his head.
Seokjin took it and shoved it away in one swift motion. "Light sleeper, my gorgeous ass! Get up, you weak human!" He grabbed Jungkook's ankle with his tail and pulled on it. “Up!”
Jungkook gripped the mattress and moaned plaintively.)
("See, it wasn't that bad." Seokjin said as he put a coffee cup in front of Jungkook.
Jungkook looked pretty miserable, wrapped in his blanket, sitting at his table in front of a cup of coffee. "I hate being awake."
Seokjin snorted. "I adore this drama. I hope you give me more once you have finished your big project.")
Another turning point that made Jungkook feel closer to Seokjin was when Seokjin had a mini-breakdown about one of the fantasy books Jungkook had lent him.
(Seokjin burst into the living room, looking particularly emotional. “This is wrong, nay, this is immoral! And that comes from an actual demon, write it down!"
Jungkook blinked. Seokjin had not had such a burst of theatrics since the day Jungkook had summoned him. “What is it?”
Seokjin opened his mouth, closed it, whined. “I can’t even say it! This is outrageous!”
Jungkook looked at the book Seokjin was holding. “Is it in this one that the Magician dies--”
“Not one more word!” Seokjin held the book at arms length, like a particularly displeasing baby. ”You betrayed me. You don’t exist to me anymore.”
Jungkook tried to hold in his smile. It really reminded him of his own emotion when he had read that novel for the first time. Of course Seokjin would express that in a dramatic way.
"You... Really like these stories, don't you?" Jungkook suddenly asked.
Seokjin blinked. "Why, yes. Why would I spend so much time on this otherwise?"
Jungkook shrugged. "To... get closer to me?"
Seokjin hummed. "You're not wrong. I want to be able to talk about things you relate to. But I wanted to pick something I'd like, too. Otherwise it'd be boring and I don't do boring things. It's a matter of principle."
Jungkook chuckled at that. Again.)
Seokjin's honesty and straightforwardness put Jungkook at ease, and he gradually lowered his guard. It usually took much more time, but Seokjin was remarkably direct, and Jungkook liked that. It allowed him to stop over analysing and looking for hidden meanings.
Also, Seokjin was hilarious. Jungkook loved how dramatic he could get, how he got so worked up sometimes, how it always managed to make him smile. Seokjin was such a dork that it made Jungkook want to tease him, to the point that they developed a surprisingly funny relationship.
Jungkook had assumed that Seokjin was so old he was probably wise and jaded, but not at all. He treated Jungkook with respect, like they were equals. He even said really dumb shit that showed how he didn’t take himself too seriously, and Jungkook didn't know if he was doing it on purpose or not, but it was... nice. It didn’t make him feel like a dumb little human.
But what brought Jungkook the most comfort (and surprise) was that one day, he realised Seokjin was very careful not to touch him.
Jungkook looked at the time on his watch and decided he was done for today. It was time for food.
Jungkook left his bedroom and Seokjin perked up instantly. "Is your workday over already?"
Seokjin knew his usual timetable by now, but he always asked. Never assumed. Jungkook smiled. "Yep! Soon, I'll be done with this project." He sighed and went to the kitchen. "I mean, I'm grateful, I'm doing what I--"
Jungkook suddenly tripped up the carpet--that stupid carpet Namjoon had tripped up a billion times before. The first thing Jungkook thought of when he fell was Yoongi's voice telling him to fix the goddamn thing before someone got hurt.
Jungkook suddenly stopped falling as Seokjin grabbed his shoulder and waist and pulled him upward against him. "Wow! Are you okay?"
"I, uh, yeah, I'm--" Jungkook stuttered dumbly. He wasn't use to this kind of physical closeness, and he couldn't stop himself from staring at Seokjin. Fuck, he was really close. His lips were really big and plump and he didn't seem to have pores, and he smelt so, so good--
The moment he realised what he had done, Seokjin pushed Jungkook away like he had burnt himself. "Alright, you humans and your poor sense of balance, be careful right? Silly human, I'm under contract with you, if anything happens, no no, that wouldn't do--"
And he left to go to the bathroom, talking to himself, leaving Jungkook... confused. A bit shaken, if he was honest.
He knew Seokjin wasn't afraid of touching humans, since it was his like, job or purpose or whatever he wanted to call it. He had sex with humans, so holding Jungkook to prevent him from falling was probably on the lowest step of the physical intimacy ladder for Seokjin.
But Seokjin had looked genuinely flustered a minute ago. Jungkook wasn't sure you could fake that.
The only explanation he could find was that Seokjin made a point respecting his boundaries. And that made Jungkook feel very, very safe.
After almost two weeks, Jungkook had started to develop new habits that included Seokjin. He let Seokjin read next to him in the bedroom. They talked easily, like they were friends. It was a comfortable companionship Jungkook had not realised he had been craving.
Jungkook tried not to think too much about the temporary aspect of that companionship. For now, they had established some sort of stability in a routine, and that was reassuring for Jungkook. Seokjin was great company, and he had managed to coax Jungkook out of his quiet shell in record time.
And now was his official last day of the big project he had been working on since Seokjin had arrived. Jungkook’s client had approved the corrected versions of all his files and had received Jungkook’s invoice.
Jungkook was done with this massive project. Fucking Freedom, at last.
He stretched his arms above his head and looked at Seokjin. “Let's go grocery shopping."
"Ah," Seokjin nodded. "I was wondering if humans had found the formula for duplication and you made noodles appear in your cupboard when I wasn't looking."
Jungkook snorted. "Is that a jab at the way I feed myself?"
"It is if you want it to be." Seokjin smiled sweetly. "I was started to think your kitchen appliances were mainly decorative since you've only fed yourself with noodles and delivery food."
Being the recipient of Seokjin's teasing had become something particular, something that made Jungkook feel good and important and valuable. Seokjin was beautiful--out of this world beautiful--and when he looked and smiled at Jungkook like this, it made Jungkook smile bright and want to laugh like an idiot.
It was probably some demon power to make him flustered.
"Noodles are convenient." Jungkook said proudly, grabbing his fanny pack and walking to the door.
"You're sure no one can see your horns and tail?"
Seokjin sighed. "Positive. For the fifteenth time."
Jungkook huffed. "Because I can see them really clearly."
"Because you’re my summoner! I want to go outside, come on." Seokjin whined.
Jungkook blinked at him. "You mean you haven't yet?"
Seokjin pouted. "When a demon has been summoned, doing things without the summoner's permission... It's not impossible, but it's an icky sensation. Not a fan."
"Oh." Jungkook seemed sorry. "I didn't know, I thought you went out when I slept or something.” He licked his lips. “You can go wherever you want. By the way."
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. "Really?"
"Of course!” Jungkook said quickly. “You should've told me before."
Seokjin shrugged. "It usually doesn’t make a difference if I say it or not. Humans who summon me want to keep me to themselves. I don't have the luxury of roaming around freely when I'm under a contract. I'm usually busy doing--" He glanced at Jungkook, then at the ceiling. "Other things."
Jungkook frowned. "But you said one of your friend would come at some point."
"Oh, yeah, we can come to the human world. It's just not really interesting, humans can’t see us unless we’ve been summoned here. So we’re either under a contract or invisible, it's not the most entertaining holiday destination."
Jungkook snorted. "Because Hell must be far better."
Seokjin gasped. "I don't live in Hell, I live in the Circle of Lust, you fool."
Jungkook snickered like he always did and finally opened the door for Seokjin.
So far, Seokjin’s short trip in the Human Realm had been way more entertaining than he had expected it to be. When he had understood that he would have to wait for a demon to find him, he had thought he would spend days and days alone, locked up in this human apartment without permission to do anything.
Instead, he had had time to explore Jungkook's apartment, read human books and... talk to Jungkook. Quite a lot these days. Jungkook's energy around him was so comfortable now, it made Seokjin want to purr in delight.
He never took offense in Seokjin's weird jokes and jabs, and it made Seokjin quite pleased. Surprisingly, Jungkook used the same kind of friendly banter as Seokjin did, which had resulted in quite funny discussions in the past few days.
Jungkook was more open, more at ease with him, which was great, but the fact that Seokjin was actually enjoying himself too, now that was a pretty nice bonus.
And now he was finally taking his first steps outside. "How amusing it is that you have only one sun, it's always a surprise when I get to look at it."
Jungkook gasped. "You have more than one sun?"
Seokjin stretched his arms above his head, his tail holding onto his hoodie to pull it down his belly. He closed his eyes and inhaled deeply, enjoying the outside air. "Things changed so much over here."
Jungkook was walking next to him, his energy slightly worried (probably because of the horns and tail), but it was calming down with each step they were taking. "Do you always appear in Korea?"
And Jungkook was clever. He always asked interesting questions. Surprising ones, sometimes. "I don't exactly choose," Seokjin answered, "but yeah, most of the time. Where are we, by the way?"
"You don't know? I thought you had an integrated GPS or something."
Seokjin blinked. "Sometimes you speak, and although I hear the words, I can't comprehend a single thing."
Jungkook chuckled again, and Seokjin absentmindedly noted how rewarding it felt every time. He had always liked entertaining his friends, so it was kind of natural that he would want to do the same with Jungkook, even if he was a human.
"GPS is something that tell you where you are and the directions to go somewhere."
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. "Fascinating."
"We're in Busan, by the way." Jungkook finally said with a huge smile that made his eyes twinkle.
"Oh. Good. I've been there already, I was even summoned on the beach, once.” He said, off-handedly. “Oh wow. Is that the place you were talking about earlier, the E-mart?"
Jungkook looked at him, surprised. "Y-yeah, but wait, you were summoned on the beach?"
"Yeah," Seokjin hummed, more fascinated by the bright lights in the alleys and the shelves packed with colorful products. "Some humans organised a summer orgy. I stayed there for a few days while they took turns."
"That must've been intense."
"Yeah," Seokjin said absentmindedly. "I think one of them passed out from dehydration." Seokjin spotted the noodle packages with weird little birds on it. That seemed to be Jungkook's favorite ramen type. He picked the pink package with the same funny bird. It said 'carbonara'. What the hell was carbonara?
"Were they okay?" Jungkook asked. He sounded worried.
Seokjin tried to remember what they were talking about. The summer orgy, right. "Yeah, sure." To be honest, he had no idea, but he felt like Jungkook needed the reassurance.
Jungkook sighed and started loading the entirety of the noodles rack into his basket.
"Wait, what are you doing?"
Jungkook raised an eyebrow. "Buying food?" He answered like it was obvious.
"Wait." Seokjin put his hands in front of him. "I agreed to cope with this, mh, food regimen of noodles and deliveries because you said you had "a rush at work" that kept you very busy, which was why you didn't cook anything else, yada yada."
Jungkook frowned. "Yes, I had a rush at work that kept me very busy, but I’ll have you know it could have lasted much longer if I wasn't so good at my job."
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. Cute how his human would get cocky for the weirdest details sometimes. "Okay, not my point. Explain to me why you are still eating crap?" He took a cup of noodles. "That's not food! Your body is a temple!"
Jungkook sighed. "I don't like cooking. My hyung does it for me sometimes but I've never--"
Seokjin groaned. "Ugh. Where's the vegetable aisle?" He stormed away dramatically. "Why do I seem to know more about human nutrition than you do?"
Jungkook hurried beside him. "W-wait, that's the other side--"
Seokjin raised a finger to make him shush. "This is not a maze, Jungkook, we'll find our way to the vegetable aisle at some point."
After an unreasonable amount of time spent at the E-mart, they went back to Jungkook's place, both carrying bags of healthy food (thank you very much) and a promise they would try cooking together.
"We can learn. It's not even magic food, it can't be that complicated." Seokjin exclaimed.
"You'd be surprised!" Jungkook laughed. "My friend can stare at eggs on the pan for a long time and still manage to burn them."
Seokjin groaned. "Eggs. We forgot eggs, how could we forget eggs!"
"We couldn't think of everything."
"You're absolutely right. Because your kitchen didn't have the basic essentials that you're supposed to have in your food supplies!" Seokjin said theatrically. "I can't believe you didn't even have rice! You make Korea cry!"
Jungkook laughed loud and dorky, his head thrown back, his shoulder bumping into Seokjin's. "I was going to buy some again, I swear!"
“Words, words, you sure talk big for someone who didn't have the ingredients to make bibimbap!"
Jungkook laughed again as he punched a code into the keypad of his apartment and opened the door. "Well now we have everything we need so you can stop wh--"
Jungkook never finished his sentence. Seokjin closed the door of the apartment and frowned. "Jungkook?"
He walked to the living room where Jungkook was frozen on the spot, and suddenly, Seokjin saw why he never finished his sentence.
A demon was there. Standing in the middle of the living room.
He turned his head to face them and smiled like he embodied sunshine. “Hey, Seokjin. Long time no see.”
Seokjin stared at him, a weight dropping in his chest. “Hello, Hoseok.”
It's not because you're ace that you don't want to touch anyone, ever.
Y'all have no idea how HAPPY I am that you're giving so much love to Lust demon Jin and ace Koo! Thank you so so much for your renewed support ♡♡
Kim is my beta soulmate and did an awesome job for this chapter AGAIN. Also said it was the best one yet, so PLEASE ENJOY DELICIOUSLY!!!
“I, uh. I’ll let you talk?” Jungkook said, walking shyly towards his bedroom.
“Thank you very much, dear.” Hoseok said, ever so polite.
Jungkook nodded and closed his bedroom door softly.
Seokjin didn't like that. He had felt the shift in Jungkook's energy. As soon as Hoseok had started talking, it was like they were back to square one. Jungkook was back into his shell, defensive and wary. Seokjin hoped that it wouldn't last after Hoseok's departure.
Actually, a part of him wanted Hoseok to leave quickly so that he could reassure Jungkook and make him smile and--
Hoseok snapped his fingers in front of Seokjin's face. "Hello?"
Seokjin took a deep breath in. "Yes. Hello, Hoseok. I didn't expect anyone to show up so early."
Hoseok raised an eyebrow. "Well, that's a warm welcome."
Seokjin rolled his eyes and sighed. "Apologies."
Hoseok waved his hand like it was no big deal. "How long have you been here?"
"Short of two human weeks." He cleared his throat. "I think."
Hoseok blinked, like he was waiting for Seokjin to say more. "And?"
Seokjin crossed his arms. "And what ?"
Hoseok frowned. " And , what are you waiting for to have sex with him? Damn, why are you being so defensive?"
"Why are you being so nosy?"
Hoseok pointed at Seokjin with wide eyes. "See! Defensive!"
They stared at each other until Seokjin slouched down. "Okay, I'm sorry. I genuinely didn't expect anyone to show up so early, and I've been trying to put my human at ease--"
Hoseok looked at him with wide eyes. "Put your human at ease?"
"He's..." Seokjin licked his lips. "He's asexual?"
Hoseok gaped at that. "Oh. Oh wow."
Seokjin chuckled humorlessly. "Yeah. Got the same reaction."
“So you’re looking for a solution.” Hoseok said softly, thinking.
Seokjin didn’t answer. The search for a solution had been put on hold for now, but he didn’t want to say it and argue with Hoseok.
Hoseok's tail swooshed the air, a telltale sign that he was nervous. Thinking. "You’re a Lust demon, and yet, you got summoned."
Seokjin nodded. "The invocation circle was pretty clear."
Hoseok hummed, biting the inside of his cheek. "Are you sure your contract is about sex?”
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. “What do you want it to be about, knitting lessons?”
Hoseok rolled his eyes. “Don’t sass me.”
Seokjin smiled haughtily. “Magick wouldn’t take me here if it wasn’t for sex.”
Hoseok crossed his arms. “Why not? It’s not a 'never have, never will' situation.”
“Oh? You’ve heard of Lust demons being summoned for something else than sex contracts?”
Hoseok made a thing with his mouth, a ‘mouth frown’ Seokjin called it, something he did when he was displeased. “Not... exactly.”
Seokjin sighed. "That's what I thought." He sat on the couch and crossed his legs. "So. What are you doing here?"
"Checking on you, obviously."
Seokjin tapped on the spot next to him on the couch. "Sit, babe."
Hoseok complied easily, extending an arm to let Seokjin snuggle in.
Seokjin leaned into him and took Hoseok's hand to play with it. "Let me rephrase that. My human can see you, which means you’ve been summoned. Why aren’t you with your own human?"
He felt Hoseok tense. Just a little. Hoseok was very good at guarding his emotions, but Seokjin could still read his body. "I sensed your presence."
"I see." He stroked Hoseok's knuckles, a dreamy sigh at the memories these fingers gave him. "If you've been summoned, why aren't you with your human satisfying their every need like we usually do?”
“Maybe I’m taking my time.” Hoseok said in an even voice. “Maybe they’re tied up to some furniture and I’m just making them be patient. Good foreplay.”
Seokjin squinted. “Maybe.” He kept stroking Hoseok’s fingers, turning his palm up to trace the lines there. “Still unorthodox to leave the sides of your summoner. Do they know you’re here?”
There was a long silence, then a laugh. "You're right! I can be so forgetful, I should go and serve him."
Seokjin let Hoseok untangle himself and raised an eyebrow. "What impeccable timing."
"Isn't it?" Hoseok turned to him. "Think about what I said, Jin. Magick didn't put you here by mistake. Maybe your contract isn't about sex."
Seokjin sighed dramatically. "Sure. Have fun with your human."
Hoseok snorted, amused. "I already have." He raised his hand but lowered it slightly. “I’ll come back if I find anything.”
He raised his hand again and the next second he had disappeared in a cloud of sulfur.
Seokjin scrunched up his nose and opened the window.
Jungkook had been oh so tempted to stick his ear against the door and try to listen to what two demons could be talking about, but he had not. Because his parents raised him to be a good boy.
Jungkook felt a bit stupid. He had gotten really comfortable with Seokjin. Domestic, even. Seokjin was showing him basic kindness and it was enough to consider him like a roommate, a friend he would do the groceries with.
He had even been looking forward to cooking with Seokjin. He had forgotten that Seokjin actually wanted to go back to... Where he came from. Lust sphere, circle of Hell, whatever he called it.
Of course Seokjin didn’t actually want to stay with a human in the boring human world. He was just being nice for the time being.
Damn, that was so typical of Jungkook to get attached to anyone showing friendly behavior.
Jungkook tried to steel himself for what was about to come. Seokjin will be excited and perhaps a bit dramatic when he tells Jungkook that he had found a way to go back. He would probably say nice things to sugarcoat it, then leave and never return again.
Unless Jungkook asked, maybe. If Jungkook asked, maybe Seokjin would come and visit him?
"No, don't be silly." Jungkook mumbled to himself. Seokjin had no interest in visiting a human. He had said it himself, that's not their favorite vacation spot.
Jungkook heard a knock and almost jumped out of his skin.
"May I come in?" Seokjin's muffled voice asked.
Jungkook breathed in deeply. He looked everywhere for something to do, he didn't want to look like he was waiting or worried. Was he worried? No he wasn't.
He grabbed a book, lay down on his bed and cleared his throat. "Come in."
Seokjin opened the door. He was smiling. "Miss me?"
When Jungkook had no idea how to react, he just froze like a rabbit. And he was still not sure what Seokjin was about to tell him.
Seokjin giggled and sat on the bed, at a respectable distance from him. Jungkook knew he did that to respect boundaries, but right now, it was frustrating. "You can come closer."
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. "Can I?"
"Will you do something inappropriate?"
"Of course not!” Seokjin pouted. “I told you, I don't--"
"Then yes, you can. Come closer."
"Oh." Seokjin licked his lips and came a little closer. "Thank you."
He was still not touching Jungkook. Because he meant it when he said that he wouldn't do anything without Jungkook's consent.
It made Jungkook feel warm and cared for, even if it was just... a temporary display of politeness before Seokjin would go back to his place.
If it was temporary Jungkook might as well enjoy it. He put his hand on Seokjin's shoulder and pushed him a bit playfully. "So. How'd it go?"
Seokjin looked at Jungkook's hand on his shoulder and raised an eyebrow. He raised his own hand hesitantly and... pushed on Jungkook's shoulder.
Jungkook chuckled and pushed Seokjin again, harder.
Seokjin smiled this time. "You-- brat." He pushed harder too. "So annoying." He said with a smile that said the exact opposite.
Jungkook gulped. He knew it was a joke. It was a joke. "So. You're gonna leave that annoying brat soon?"
Seokjin's smile faltered for a brief moment before it was back. "I'm afraid not. You'll have to put up with my immense beauty a bit longer." He looked elsewhere. "I apologize for the inconvenience."
Jungkook felt relieved, and he felt guilty to be relieved. Of course, he liked the idea of having Seokjin with himself a bit longer. Seokjin was great company and he made Jungkook feel good. But he didn't look happy about that.
"Don't be sorry.” Jungkook chuckled to try to relieve his own embarrassment, looking everywhere but at Seokjin. “I'm actually glad you're staying longer."
Seokjin looked at him with wide eyes. "You are?"
"Yeah!" Jungkook said, looking at the book in his lap. He knew he sounded earnest, but it was a bit late to play the aloofness card. "I like that you're here."
Seokjin had made him feel so at ease, despite his mistake of summoning him. The least Jungkook could do was making himself a little vulnerable and make Seokjin as comfortable as he could in return.
Seokjin looked floored. Touched, even. "Well." He cleared his throat. "I mean, what is there not to like in me, right?"
Jungkook chuckled. "Do you want a list?"
"Don't you dare." Seokjin smiled. It looked more like a private smile, something that showed he was happy, deep down. "Thank you, Jungkook. I appreciate it." He said, and he really looked... relieved.
Had he thought that Jungkook wanted him out of his way?
Jungkook felt the immediate urge to reassure Seokjin. He took his hand and looked at him. "You can stay. As long as you want, I don't mind. I like it." And since that felt a bit too solemn, he added, "You promised we'd cook together."
Seokjin looked at Jungkook, surprised. "That I did. And I have no idea how to do it. It's gonna be an adventure." He gasped. "Is that our adventure? The one where we bond?"
Jungkook snorted. "I imagined something more exciting."
"Oh, I can make everything exciting, sweetie."
Jungkook took a sharp little inhale when he heard the pet name.
Seokjin immediately pinched his lips. "Sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to--"
Jungkook shook his head. “No, no, you know what, that’s okay. I kinda like pet names, actually."
"You... do?" Seokjin asked carefully.
Jungkook nodded. His face was warm but he continued. "I’ve always been the youngest in my group of friends, and they dote on me and call me cute names, and I like it. Just, not with strangers, but you’re not a stranger anymore." He paused, then added for good measure. "As long as you know it's not flirting.”
"Of course!" Seokjin assured. Then smiled. "Cinnamon bunny bun."
“Gross!” Jungkook made a disgusted face and started laughing.
A few days later, after Jungkook was finished with his work for the day, they found themselves together in the kitchen, cutting vegetables, a pan already on the tiny stove.
"My hyung uses too much garlic and too much olive oil. He says it's the only acceptable way to cook a steak."
"Oh he sounds like someone I'd like. Too much of everything is my brand."
Jungkook laughed and Seokjin reveled in it.
After their talk about how long Seokjin could stay, Jungkook’s aura felt even more comfortable with him, and Seokjin was... rRelieved. Maybe.
He had to admit that he had feared Jungkook still didn't want to have him near. That he would be better off without a demon constantly by his side.
Jungkook had said he liked his company though. His company .
So many humans had used him as an advanced sex toy, and of course he didn't mind. Or, used to not mind, at least.
Jungkook enjoyed his company, and it had nothing to do with sex. It was surprising and refreshing, and Seokjin had not thought he would like it that much. Demons usually didn't embarrass themselves with that kind of stuff.
He had friends, like most demons. He enjoyed their intelligence, their beauty, their Lust ability. He had never stopped to wonder if there was more. He was just fine, he didn't need more.
At least that's what he had thought until Hoseok's visit. When he had realised he wasn't ready to leave Jungkook.
The relief he had felt when Jungkook had told him he could stay was a brand new kind of feeling. It was pleasant and satisfying, and he liked feeling like this.
So really, leaving the human realm was a problem for future Seokjin.
Right now, he was just enjoying Jungkook's laughter, their banter, their playfull fights. "You can try pushing me as much as you want, I will not budge."
Jungkook snickered. "Your shoulders are too big."
"Thank you." Seokjin stuck out his chest proudly. "You're not too bad yourself for a human, babe."
"Well, thank you." Jungkook showed his biceps and flexed it. "I work hard for it."
Seokjin watched Jungkook’s muscle bulge and stretch the t-shirt sleeve, and reminded himself to stop thirsting.
Jungkook's body was desirable. Seokjin wasn't completely blind. But he wasn't an animal, and there was no way he would let Jungkook feel uncomfortable just because Seokjin stared a bit too hard.
So he looked away as if he wasn't attracted.
Jungkook gave no sign of discomfort in his aura. Better, he had initiated contact with Seokjin, and they touched each other all the time now, so much that Seokjin wondered how they interacted when they weren’t touching yet. They fought, mostly, but Jungkook was surprisingly touchy.
Seokjin had never met an asexual human before Jungkook. He had assumed they didn't like contact.
"What are you thinking about?" Jungkook asked.
Seokjin hummed and started cutting the leek again. "Someone wise told me, there aren't indiscreet questions, only indiscreet answers."
Jungkook snorted. "That seems reasonable."
"I wanted to know if I could ask you questions. About asexuality."
"Oh." Jungkook said, and for a second, Seokjin was scared he had crossed a line. He eventually nodded. "Sure. Anyway, if you ask any question that sucks, I'm gonna call you a jerk and ignore you. I know you hate that."
Seokjin smiled and poked Jungkook's shoulder with his. "I really do." He finished with the leek and grabbed a carrot. "I know close to nothing of asexuality. I assumed asexual people didn't like touch overall, but you're quite... physical."
Jungkook smiled and went back to cutting mushrooms. "Yes. I like hugs and snuggling. I used to live with two of my hyungs, we would hug all the time. I miss it."
Seokjin frowned. "Why did you move out then?"
Jungkook sighed dramatically. "Well, they got together. I saw it coming, they've been flirting forever, calling each other pet names like 'hot stuff' and 'sugar plum'."
Seokjin laughed. "Ew. At least I employ good pet names with you."
"Ooh. Is that how you flirt?" Jungkook wiggled his eyebrows.
Seokjin looked up at Jungkook. "I would never flirt without your permission."
Jungkook smiled. "For a demon, you're much more respectful than most humans."
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. "I'm not sure if that's a compliment." He cut the last carrot and focused intently on it when he blurted, "If you want hugs, we can hug. I don't mind."
Jungkook was cutting the same piece of mushroom over and over again. Like he was focusing on that very hard too. "Wouldn't it be frustrating for you?"
Jungkook shrugged and finally stopped harassing the mushroom. "Like… It won’t lead to more. I won't have sex with you."
Seokjin groaned. "Jungkook. I know the difference between platonic and sexual." He sighed. "And you just said I was better than all of humanity combined."
Jungkook laughed. "I’m pretty sure I did not say that!" He tried to grab all the mushroom mush on his cutting board and put them in the pan. "Well, if you don't mind... hugs would be nice."
Seokjin's heart was beating fast, and his chest was tight. It was weird to feel so much excitement for such a simple thing. "Okay. Well, I'll let you start whenever you're ready."
Jungkook put down the cutting board. He wrapped his arms around Seokjin's chest, above his arms, and squeezed a little.
Seokjin froze, knife in hand. He couldn't return the hug back. He was about to say so when Jungkook let go with an awkward laugh. "There. First hug. I guess the first one is always weird."
"That is an insult, young man!" Seokjin exclaimed. "I couldn't even hug you back properly! That was a sham!"
Jungkook laughed again. "We finish the japchae and we'll give each other a congratulatory hug, how about that?"
With a sudden fire under his ass, Seokjin grabbed Jungkook's cell phone. "Deal. What are the next steps of that concoction, I'm going to finish it in record time."
Jungkook's laughter was equally shy and pleased.
Even if it wasn't sexual, Seokjin loved contact. Being able to touch Jungkook sent a thrill through his whole body. Not the one that electrified him like usual when he touched another body.
This thrill was exciting but at the same time it was mellow, a soft kind of warm that Seokjin had not really experienced before. He was actually content with hugging Jungkook. Not frustrated, not wanting more.
One evening, they fell asleep together on Jungkook's bed while watching a cooking show on something called Netflix. They had started watching cooking shows because cooking had become something they did together, almost twice a day. It was their thing, and they always had a lot of fun doing it.
That night, snuggled against each other, they fell asleep. When Seokjin woke up, he wasn't sure what time it was, and Jungkook's screen showed the Netflix message 'are you still there?'. Jungkook was drooling a little on his shoulder, too.
“Of course we’re still here. Dumb invention.” Seokjin sighed heavily. He stretched his free arm, then tried to untangle himself from Jungkook, lay him down on his bed.
He carried Jungkook to his bedroom, put him on his bed and was about to leave for the living room when Jungkook stirred in his sleep and grabbed Seokjin’s sleeve.
Seokjin smiled. "Jungkook-ah," he whispered, "you need to sleep."
Jungkook groaned and pulled harder on his sleeve. "Sleep here."
Seokjin put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder. He was trying to stay calm, but his heart was pounding much harder now. "Are you sure?"
Jungkook opened his eyes properly this time and stared at Seokjin. "Yes. But only if you're okay with that."
Seokjin smiled. Jungkook was ready to sleep in the same bed as him and trusted him not to try anything. Which Seokjin wouldn’t, but it was comforting to see Jungkook knew it too, now.
So he lay down next to Jungkook slowly, and opened his arms. "Hug?"
Jungkook wormed his way to Seokjin's arm and flopped on top of him.
"Good night, Jungkook."
After that night, they slept and woke up together. It was sweet. Intimate. A kind of intimacy that was new and exciting for Seokjin.
A month had passed since Jungkook had summoned him, and Seokjin didn't think that much about what Hoseok had told him. He didn't care about the contract anymore, he was just having a great time with Jungkook.
Of course that couldn't last.
"What the fuck are you doing?"
Both Jungkook and Seokjin startled and turned around to see Hoseok at the kitchen door. Jungkook instantly got a little closer to Seokjin, and it made Seokjin proud and ready to protect him instantly.
After a few seconds, Seokjin hummed and looked back at the stove. "Excellent question. What are we doing, Jungkook?"
Jungkook blinked, gaping a little. "Uh. We are uh, trying to make odeng guk." He turned to Hoseok. "It's soup made with uh..." He checked the pot again. "Fish cakes and anchovy. We made the broth ourselves?"
Hoseok frowned. "I know what odeng guk is."
Seokjin clicked his tongue on his palate. "Seok-ah, don't be rude."
Hoseok sighed heavily. "Can I talk to Seokjin, please?"
Seokjin turned to Jungkook. "But if you want to stay, you can."
Jungkook gave him a small smile. "I think I’d prefer to sit this one out." He walked away. "Make sure the fish cakes don't burn."
They waited to hear the sound of Jungkook closing his bedroom door.
Then, Hoseok whisper screamed. "What the fuck are you doing!"
Seokjin cocked his head on the side, expression unreadable. "Odeng-guk."
"Ha ha. Hilarious. What are you playing at with your human?"
Seokjin shrugged. "I don't know how to go back to our plane of existence. Might as well enjoy my time here."
"Are you kidding? You're not even trying to go back?”
"I don't know how to go back, didn’t you hear me?" Seokjin said, impatient.
"It doesn't look like you care that much about being stuck in the human world."
Seokjin chuckled dryly. "Maybe I don't care. It's not that awful so far."
"It has nothing to compare with home." Hoseok said with a disgusted pout.
"And I beg to differ."
Hoseok squinted. “Are you attempting to..." He made a face. "I don't know, fill a void or something?”
Seokjin smiled. “I’ve filled countless voids during my existence. I've filled yours, you've filled mine--”
“I think you have feelings." Hoseok cut him. "For your human.”
“What the--" Seokjin burst out into laughter. " Feelings? Hoseok, we're high demons of Lust, we inspire passion in others, not the contrary!”
Hoseok looked troubled now, almost anxious. “Maybe demons can feel, maybe we’ve never been in contact with humans enough to know that we can .”
Seokjin walked closer to him. “Hoseok... Are you okay?" He pushed Hoseok's hair back, taking a look into his golden eyes. "Did you fall victim of a spell?”
“No." Hoseok pushed him. "No Seokjin, I’ve been thinking about it.”
“You’ve been thinking about feelings? What for?” Seokjin groaned. “We care, it’s not the same.”
“What if it is?” Hoseok asked defiantly.
Seokjin rolled his eyes. “How would you know?”
“I’m think I’m feeling, Seokjin!”
Silence fell over the kitchen, save for the absurd boiling of the broth in the pot.
Seokjin snorted, then started giggling. “What?”
Hoseok put his hand in his hair. “I met a human. During a contract. But after we had sex… Magick didn’t send me back. I was free to go back, but it didn’t send me back. I was left by his side.”
“That literally never happens.” Seokjin said.
“That’s not all. ” Hoseok added, quickly. “I went back home, but the human, he did the summoning again. And Magick sent me back to him.”
“That’s impossible .” Seokjin scoffed, his eyes round with disbelief. “You can’t summon the same Lust demon--”
“Magick brings me back to him every time !" Hoseok shouted, then lowered his voice again. "And it never sends me back! That’s why I felt your energy last time, that's why I'm here again! He's been summoning me for two months, and, and sometimes I wonder why I shouldn’t stay with him! Am I sick?”
Seokjin looked pained now, and sympathetic. "Oh, Hoseok, sweetheart... You weren't worried about me, you were worried about yourself."
Hoseok blinked. "What? No! Magick brought you here for a reason, and if you don’t want to try to go back, maybe it’s because you’re starting to feel--"
"Shh, fear not, Hoseok. I will help you in any way I can. Humans are not that bad, you know. Maybe it's not that bad to embrace... whatever this situation is."
"That is not what I was trying to .. ." He looked to the side. "Do you really believe this?"
“That I should.” Hoseok tapped his foot on the floor. “That I should embrace. The situation.”
"Oh, yeah. Spend time with him, do stuff other than sex! It's refreshing!" He smiled then. "We're eternal, Hoseok, what prevents us from doing anything?"
Hoseok raised his eyebrows. "I... guess."
Seokjin patted Hoseok's shoulder. "Come on, babe. Embrace it, and keep me updated, yeah?"
Hoseok walked out of the kitchen, looking more puzzled than ever. "Uh. Sure. Yeah, okay."
"Excellent. Good luck, sweetheart." He hugged Hoseok tight and waved him off as he disappeared.
Seokjin opened the window and chuckled to himself. "Feelings. He's funny."
Very much like the last time Seokjin's friend had been here, he knocked on Jungkook's bedroom door and asked if he could come in.
Jungkook didn't pretend to be doing something else this time. He opened the door himself. "Are you okay?"
Seokjin looked surprised. "Why wouldn't I be?"
Jungkook inspected Seokjin's body with his eyes, he seemed... normal. "It seemed like you were in a fight. I heard shouting."
"Sorry about that. It's all good though, don't worry." Seokjin turned on his heels and started walking to the kitchen. "Let’s go back to our odeng guk? I might have left i--"
Jungkook wrapped his arms around Seokjin's waist from behind. It was only the second time Hoseok had been here, but just like the previous time, Jungkook feared that they would find a way for Seokjin to go back. And he would leave.
And he didn't want him to leave. Even if he was a demon. Even if they were bound by contract, even if it was all... not real.
The simple idea that Seokjin might leave him... It made him want to cry. Real tears.
Seokjin put his hands on Jungkook's arms. "Hey." He said softly. "You okay?"
Jungkook gulped. He hoped his voice was stable. "Are you gonna leave?"
Seokjin tried to turn in his embrace. "Wha--"
Jungkook suddenly let him go and took a few steps backwards. "Because, you can. I mean, you don't even need my permission! Just--" Shit, his voice was shaking. He cleared his throat. "Gimme... Gimme a heads up before? So that I can... Get used to the idea. Of, you know, you, leavi--"
He couldn't finish his sentence. Seokjin suddenly crossed the short distance between them to hug Jungkook. Tight.
Jungkook felt his face fall as he hugged Seokjin back.
"I'm not leaving, Jungkook." He said in his ear. "Not a chance."
Jungkook chuckled, and the sound was a little wet. He sniffed. "Are you sure?"
"Yes." Seokjin said, stroking his hair. "Poor bun. Did I make you sad? Don't be sad." He leaned back to look at Jungkook's face, but Jungkook looked down stubbornly.
Jungkook was still holding onto Seokjin's shirt. "Because I don't want you to stay if you don't want to."
"Hey, hey." Seokjin took Jungkook's face in his hands. "I really want to stay. As long as you'll allow me to stay." He tried to smile. “We have the whole cookbook to go through!”
Jungkook looked up, and Seokjin was staring at him like he could see his soul. Maybe he could.
They looked at each other and Jungkook wasn't dumb. This was a Moment, one of those where you're expected to kiss or be kissed.
Jungkook had found himself in these kinds of moments a few times, when he still wasn't aware that he was asexual, with people he didn't know that well. It had been embarrassing, uncomfortable, and unwanted.
He had also been in this kind of situation after understanding he was ace. With people he knew way better, people he actually had romantic feelings for. He had wanted to kiss a few of them.
He wanted to kiss Seokjin right now.
He was... should he go for it? Should he?
Jungkook was about to come closer, when Seokjin just smiled and pat his head. "Okay now I'm pretty sure the fish is burnt. I'm going to turn off the stove, do you want ramen?"
And he left. He left to go to the kitchen, leaving Jungkook with a cold spot between his arms and a want he had not felt in a very long time.
Each situation was associated with his attraction now, and Jungkook took his time to get familiar with it.
Because once he was, Jungkook became more daring.
LONG TIME COMIIIIIIIING!!!
Lotsa questioning, lotsa disheartened and discouraged feelings, it was a long road to come back to writing, and this was the ideal fic to do so ♥♥
I hope you enjoy this chapter! I loooooved writing it.
Kim is basically the fairy godmother of this fic, she's a huge part of the way I feel about the story and I thank her immensely for that and the great beta she does every time. Thank you thank YOU!!!!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
The realization hit Jungkook like a punch in the face and the guts, simultaneously.
He had wanted to actually kiss Seokjin. On the mouth.
As pretty as Seokjin was, his good looks had nothing to do with it. Jungkook was friends with Taehyung. He was no Lust demon, but Jungkook could see he was out of this world beautiful, and still, he had never felt the impulse to kiss Taehyung on the mouth.
It wasn’t because Seokjin and Jungkook had become close and intimate either. Jungkook didn’t want to kiss all his close friends, he didn’t feel that way with all the people he genuinely liked.
It’s just that sometimes, with some people Jungkook felt a strong bond with, a connection appeared, a spark that teetered on an ambiguous line.
That was the way Jungkook felt attraction.
For a few days, Jungkook said nothing. He kept that information to himself and did nothing out of the ordinary, just tried to calm his racing heart every time Seokjin hugged him now.
He spent more time paying attention to every little movement Seokjin made when they were close, talking, hugging, fighting playfully. Each situation was associated with his attraction now, and Jungkook took his time to get familiar with it.
Because once he was, Jungkook became more daring.
Jungkook loved hugs and kisses and he loved loved loved making out, but that feeling always came with a pinch of ingrained guilt, because he didn't want it to evolve into more than that. Into sexual stuff.
He had been called a tease over that, and that’s where the guilt came from. And it was fucking unfair, making out wasn’t a binding contract, like Namjoon had told him firmly. Consent should be renewed every step of the way, and there was nothing wrong with wanting to make out and only make out.
Both parties just needed to know and respect that.
Seokjin never tried to go beyond the lines that Jungkook defined. Jungkook didn't know if it was because of their contract or whatever, but it felt pretty real to him.
It made him feel comfortable, confident… and impatient.
Sometimes, when Jungkook was working, Seokjin would come from behind and wrap his arms around Jungkook's neck and kiss the crown of his neck. Jungkook would chuckle and try to ignore he wanted to kiss Seokjin really bad now.
It was just really hard to want more and not be sure of how to... ask for it.
The opportunity sort of offered itself when they were doing grocery shopping again. A pile of water bottle crates was blocking the way to the ramen shelf, so Jungkook just crouched and grabbed the whole pile and put it to the side.
When he stood back up, Seokjin was puckering his lips and squeezing Jungkook's arms. "You hot stud, those muscles." He hummed appreciatively. "I should come to the gym with you like you said. If I don't like it, at least I'll be able to oggle something nice."
Jungkook's heartbeat picked up, and he shoved down the idea of flexing his biceps into Seokjin's hands. Which translated into him staring with wide eyes and gaping a little.
Seokjin looked at him, and then smiled. "Relax, Kook-ah. I’m not flirting.”
“What if I wanted to flirt?" Jungkook suddenly said, almost defiantly. "Would that be okay?”
Seokjin blinked. Several times. He licked his lips, like he was thinking about what to answer, and finally opened his mouth carefully. “... Yes. Yes, sure, that would be okay.”
“Cool.” Jungkook said, trying to act unphased. "Okay, cool. I might do. You can do it too. For fun."
Seokjin put his hands on Jungkook's shoulders, let them slip down his hands. "Whatever you want. I'm okay with."
Jungkook's breath caught in his throat, softly. He squeezed Seokjin's hands and whispered "Are you sure?"
Seokjin nodded. "Yes. Yes, I'm sure. I'm comfortable, so just... Focus on being comfortable, yourself." He smiled and let go of Jungkook's hands before grabbing more ramen packs and putting them in the grocery basket. "Alright now, eggs!"
Seokjin had been surprised by Jungkook’s suggestion, to say the least.
Flirting. That belonged to the jurisdiction of seduction. It was a game Seokjin loved but didn’t have the occasion to play lately. Sure, there was always a thrill to seduce a Pride demon and make them bend with sexual desperation.
So. He knew how to flirt, although he had never needed to flirt with humans, that was usually succubi and incubi’s job. Too low in the rank to be summoned for a contract, they had to seduce humans and make them consent to sex.
Anyway. If Jungkook wanted to play the seduction game, Seokjin was more than happy to provide a partner. Better him than another human or demon. He was an expert after all, and Jungkook deserved the best.
Seokjin still thought that Jungkook had said that to test the limits of their relationship, and that he wouldn’t try to actually flirt with him, or at least not before a few weeks.
How ever .
They had just finished putting the groceries away when Seokjin bent down to grab a pan and received a slap on the ass.
"Nice butt." Jungkook said.
When Seokjin turned around, Jungkook's face was on fire. He was trying to smile but it looked almost uncertain.
It was Seokjin's purpose in life to make him smile confidently again. "Oh, Jeon Jungkook, you're gonna wish you never did that." He sprung on his legs at the same time Jungkook started running.
They chased each other around the couch, Jungkook screaming in delight and Seokjin saying "Come here get your spanking, baby boy."
Jungkook huffed from the other end of the couch and removed his oversized sweater in one swift motion. "Oh yeah?” He stuck out his chest and flexed his arm. “Is that baby boy for you?"
Seokjin snorted, but that still had the merit to make him stop dead in his tracks. "What, you think being all tall and muscles makes you not baby material?" Seokjin jumped above the armrest and on the couch, and in two big steps he was with Jungkook.
Lucky for him, Jungkook probably didn't expect him to do that, which allowed Seokjin to push Jungkook against the wall right behind him, holding his wrists above his. "You're the babiest baby boy," he whispered, close to Jungkook's mouth, "I have ever seen."
Jungkook was... frozen. He looked like a deer in the headlights, and Seokjin blinked. "Sorry," he said, leaning back and letting go of Jungkook's wrists. "Too far?"
Jungkook stared, shook his head slowly, and suddenly kissed him.
It was brief, really brief. It had a taste of not enough and unfinished.
Jungkook's face looked like it was about to explode, looking everywhere but at Seokjin’s face. He managed to look at him in the eye after a few long seconds, and asked in a small voice, "Too far?"
Seokjin smiled, got closer to Jungkook, holding tight. "No. Not too far. You can't go too far with me."
Jungkook smiled at him, then at the ground, and touched his nose with his hand.
Seokjin looked at him in the eyes. "But you have to know that... if you wanna go beyond flirting, you’ll have to be the one to start it. Because, consent is primordial for me."
Jungkook stared. He seemed to be searching Seokjin's face, looking for something. “Would you be okay with that? With kissing?”
Seokjin scoffed. “Did you forget who I am? I exist to be okay with that.”
Jungkook chuckled softly. "Then..." He put his arms around Seokjin's neck. "I want more kissing."
"Lovely." Seokjin smiled and kissed Jungkook this time.
Making out for the sake of making out.
That was a concept Seokjin knew very little of before Jungkook.
His previous summoners had always wanted to go straight to sexual activities. Some of them needed to be eased into it, and yes, making out was involved, but it was more a means than an end.
Seokjin hadn’t been aware that you could make out, just for the sake of it.
And lord, had he been missing out.
Seokjin had liked the hugging and cuddling and snuggling. Adding kissing didn’t make it incredibly different per se, and yet. Suddenly, Jungkook and him couldn’t stop making out.
During each of Jungkook’s breaks from work, they cuddled and kissed on the couch. The breaks turned sometimes an hour long, which is when they decided that they should wait for after Jungkook’s work to kiss to their hearts’ content.
Seokjin liked that. The idea of resisting temptation, to let it consume you once you had received permission. Somehow, the hugs he shared with Jungkook were a bit more sensual, a bit more teasing, now that they knew what is was like to kiss but not being able to do it after morning and before evening.
So, Seokjin's favorite part of the day became the morning and the evening. And the whole weekend.
It was just great. He had been a bit uncertain of what the limits were at first, but Jungkook was very enthusiastic in showing him how far they could go.
Seokjin was ready to go with everything that Jungkook would give him.
"I adore," Seokjin said between kisses, holding Jungkook in his lap, "having my lips on yours," his eyes were closed but he felt Jungkook smile against him. "They were meant to be there forever."
Jungkook chuckled and stroked Seokjin's back. "I can get behind that idea."
Seokjin's tongue poked Jungkook's, just a bit. He had learnt that Jungkook liked that. "Yeah?"
Jungkook hummed. "Or below. Or above. I'm adaptable."
"You little minx." Seokjin said, pushing Jungkook down the couch and biting his bottom lip softly. He was so warm under Seokjin, so tender and firm. Having their bodies pressed together made Seokjin want to melt into him, like they could never be close enough.
But he was always, always careful not to bring this into sexual territory. He was new to that 'making out only' stuff, but he knew how it could lead to way more spicy activities.
Kissing Jungkook was delightful in itself. Seokjin didn't feel the need to bring this to sexual gratification. He could feel Jungkook's aura full of self enjoyment and comfort and it fueled Seokjin's need to make Jungkook content.
And if he was content with just making out, Seokjin was definitely, definitely content with that too.
Sometimes, Jungkook made noises.
Seokjin either ignored it or gently made fun of him but he never took it as an invitation for more, like some people had in the past.
Seokjin, by always respecting boundaries, made Jungkook realise how the dating scene was a real minefield for him, even after having realised he was asexual. So many people had had so many weird expectations of Jungkook in the past, and for each moment of doubt Jungkook had, Seokjin showed him he had nothing to fear.
The first time Jungkook had, sort of, moaned into Seokjin's mouth, Seokjin had laughed it off with a 'that happy to kiss me?' and just went back to kissing Jungkook breathless.
"Doesn't it drive you mad?"
Seokjin tried to kiss him again but Jungkook slightly turned his head. Seokjin took that as an invitation to kiss the skin under his ear and his jaw. "What would drive me mad, baby?"
"Well," Jungkook licked his lips, a soft sigh escaping him. "You're a Lust demon."
Seokjin hummed against the skin of Jungkook's neck, nipping softly, so softly. "Yes, I am."
"But you never--" Jungkook gasped, almost a whisper, but it was like everything became incredibly loud in those moments. He couldn't help but snuggle closer to Seokjin's body, as if to hide himself a bit. "I do those things, like, the noises and, and the stroking, doesn't it make you want to have sex?"
Seokjin raised his head this time. As if his lips weren't awfully tempting on a regular basis, they were now of a darker shade of pink, plump with kisses. "Not if you don't want to have sex."
Jungkook laughed a little, but it was frustrated. It often took multiple tries to convey what he meant out loud. "No, but, you have your own needs, and you have to push them down--"
"Not really," Seokjin cut him. "I mean it. If you don't wanna have sex, it's not appealing to me. I want to do what you want to do," Seokjin crawled up again, kissing Jungkook's chin.
Jungkook felt himself melt into him. "So... It's really okay?"
"More than. Your body is perfect." He kissed Jungkook's cheek. "Your voice is perfect. I love the sounds you make." He held himself on his forearms, above Jungkook, stroking his hair. "I don't feel physical frustration. I adapt my needs to yours. Is it so surprising?"
Jungkook wasn't laughing anymore. Seokjin sounded so genuinely surprised, so sure of himself when he said this... Jungkook realised he had wanted to hear that from a partner for a long time, and the last weight he had on his chest suddenly lifted.
Jungkook wrapped his arms around Seokjin and brought him down. He wanted to feel Seokjin's weight on him, because Seokjin made him feel safe, and good, and at peace with himself and his sexuality.
Seokjin must have felt the shift in atmosphere, because he didn't try to kiss Jungkook more. He rolled them on the side, holding Jungkook's head to the crook of his neck.
Jungkook nuzzled there with a smile, and his eyelids fluttered shut.
To be very honest, Seokjin wouldn’t mind spending all eternity like this. In Jungkook’s arms, or Jungkook in his arms, kissing, touching, entangling their legs together, sharing warmth and laughter.
It was the sappiest thing, and Seokjin loved every second of it. Wondered why he had not indulged in that before, but at the same time he knew why.
Other humans never let him try. And none of them was Jungkook anyway, so Seokjin wasn’t interested.
It wasn’t sex, but sometimes it felt just as intoxicating. Sometimes, Jungkook’s breath would get faster, and his whimpers a little louder, and he would arch against Seokjin, just like another human would during sex.
It was fantastic how sensitive Jungkook was, and Seokjin didn’t even need to feel his skin to be able to unravel him, didn’t need to make it sexual to get an intense gratification out of it. He felt the same thrill as when he made others, humans or demons, come so hard they could only chant his name between cries of pleasure.
Making out was such a great use of his time.
He was taken out of his thoughts when Jungkook gasped in his ear. Seokjin had just nipped on a sensitive spot above his collarbone. He did it again, just to hear Jungkook’s gasp, his toes curling and his eyes rolling to the back of his head. The noises Jungkook made, Lord...
Sure, Seokjin sported a competition boner, but that was only a biological reaction he couldn’t escape. It didn’t mean he was going to jump Jungkook.
He also always made sure that Jungkook couldn’t see or feel it. His boner. It was acrobatic, considering how close they got sometimes during those sessions, but he managed just fine, he was conscious of every part of his body and an expert in how to move them.
On the other hand, Seokjin had not expected to feel Jungkook’s boner against his hip.
Jungkook was hard. Against him.
Alright. No big deal. Seokjin was capable of not bursting his load in his pants at the mere feeling of a clothed erection. He had a reputation, and it had been earned in sweat and tears. Pleasure tears.
As if Jungkook could hear his thoughts, he intensified their kiss. Making out was never linear, it was soft, slow and mellow one moment, and passionate and fiery the next second. Jungkook had decided they had switched to passionate and he was kissing Seokjin like his life depended on it, right here and now.
Seokjin rolled Jungkook on his back, careful to keep his boner away, and give space to Jungkook’s own dick. He didn’t know if Jungkook did it on purpose or not but it was still time to not make Jungkook realise and be embarrassed when there was no reason t--
Jungkook suddenly raised that small, supple waist of his to grind his cock against Seokjin’s belly.
Oh, dear. Lord.
Relax, Seokjin. He forced a chuckled and whispered against Jungkook’s lips. “Happy to see me?”
Jungkook fell back on the mattress, looking positively ravaged. His long, wavy hair was messy, a tiny bit sticky because Jungkook tended to sweat quickly. Seokjin had never minded body fluids, quite the contrary.
“Sorry.” He mumbled.
Seokjin blinked. The vision Jungkook was offering made his brain much slower than usual. “What was that?”
Jungkook gulped. “Sorry. ‘Bout the--” he pointed down with his chin.
“Oh.” Seokjin said. “ Oh. Don’t worry, my virtue is safe. If I must be entirely honest with you, it’s not the first time I’ve felt a hard dick against me.”
Jungkook chuckled. “Shut up.”
Seokjin kissed his nose. “It’s fine, Kook-ah. It’s all good, don’t worry.”
Jungkook nodded. “Yes. Yes, of course. It’s just, a natural reaction, right?”
“Absolutely! Look.” He kneeled straighter, and the tent in his black pants became much more obvious. “I’m hard too. Doesn’t mean I’m gonna jump you.” He winked.
Jungkook stared at the bulge in Seokjin’s pants with those big wide terrified mammal eyes he had sometimes. His aura was… conflicted. A bit scared.
Seokjin slowly lay down again, being careful not to touch Jungkook, giving him space. Enough to not feel pressured, not too much so he wouldn’t feel unwanted. “I promise. It’s fine. And totally safe. What we’re doing is, lord , it’s amazing . I love it. I don’t need more.”
Jungkook’s aura cleared a bit. Seokjin was so focused on it that he almost didn’t hear Jungkook ask shyly, “So… Can we continue?”
“Of course!” Seokjin exclaimed. “You’re sure? You’re okay?”
Jungkook smiled and put his arms around Seokjin’s neck to bring him above him again. “Yeah. More than okay.” He licked Seokjin’s lips before he claimed then again, softly, deeply.
So good. Seokjin didn’t need more.
Jungkook had just decided he was done with today’s work and had requested hugs and kisses on his bed, when he decided to drop his bomb.
"I think... I think I want to have sex with you." Jungkook smiled.
He had thought about it, a lot. Ever since he had seen Seokjin’s arousal, but how Seokjin never did anything to make him uncomfortable… It had made Jungkook realise how much he liked him.
Maybe he had fallen in love with a demon. Seokjin was funny, and gorgeous, and so understanding. He always made sure Jungkook was physically and emotionally comfortable. He cracked jokes to alleviate any tension, any anxiety Jungkook might have.
Jungkook wasn’t interested in sex. But when he liked someone… He didn’t mind having sex, if his partner was interested in sex. Not every asexual person was like that, and he had taken his time to sort that out, but he could actually have sex and be comfortable with himself under certain circumstances that Seokjin happened to fulfil.
When Jungkook was comfortable enough to have sex with someone, it was pleasurable. Like a very good massage. He didn’t need it, even after a long time of not getting any, but it was a nice experience for the body, the senses.
Seokjin was a Lust demon, so. It was a given that he would like to have sex. If Jungkook gave him the opportunity to.
Jungkook was excited to be able to give himself to Seokjin without any trace of doubt or fear, to be able to relax enough and focus on his own sensations, and know that he would be able to enjoy sex.
He was excited that he liked Seokjin so much that he could have sex with him without feeling bad, and that he could give Seokjin what he liked.
If that made sense.
A hand on Seokjin's chest told him that Seokjin's heartbeat had just picked up, just like his own.
Proving his point, Seokjin stared at him, surprise painted all over his face. And that was a rare look on him. "You... can’t be serious."
"I am." Jungkook chuckled. "You already know, I don't need sex. But... I'd like to know you this way. The... The sex way." His face was actually burning, but he was only saying the truth. With Seokjin... He didn't mind.
"Are you sure?" Seokjin whispered, so careful, so gentle. "Have you thought about this?"
Jungkook laughed again. "More than you'd think, since I don’t care about it." He kissed Seokjin on the cheek, the nose. "I thought about how I felt about it. If I really wanted this. And… I do.”
Seokjin looked worried now. “If you don’t care about it, we don’t have to.” He kissed him, soft and tender. “Seriously. Don’t have to. I’m having the time of my existence here.” He whispered.
Jungkook kissed him back. “I know. But, it’s not like I can’t enjoy it. It’s like, like a massage, it can feel good when it’s done right. I don’t need it but... With you, it would make me happy." He lowered his eyes, smiling shyly. “Plus, I know you'll make me feel good for sure, since it's like, your job or whatever. That's a win-win situation." Jungkook took a big breath in. “Maybe, maybe not now now, but--”
"Jungkook." Seokjin was stroking him like he was the most precious thing in the universe. "You can change your mind at any moment."
"I know." Jungkook said, and he really did.
"And if we ever... Ever happen to do… this ," Seokjin closed his eyes, like the thought was too much to bear. "I will use everything I know to make you feel better than you have ever felt."
Jungkook snorted. "And you know a lot."
"That, I do." Seokjin wiggled his eyebrows. "I will take good care of you, I'll never do anything you don't want."
Jungkook smiled and put their foreheads together. "I know." He kissed him softly and whispered. "I trust you. That’s why I wanna do it."
Their next kiss was soft, so soft. Seokjin's hand drifted to Jungkook's waist, his fingers slipping under Jungkook's t-shirt. "Can I?"
Jungkook nodded, and the contact of skin against him was so electrifying he felt goosebumps raise in Seokjin's fingers’ wake. "You're finally--" He gasped when Seokjin's hand came close to his nipple. "You're finally gonna be able to fulfill that contract of yours." He licked Seokjin's lips. "Brag about it to your demon friends."
He didn't notice Seokjin had stopped moving at first. He was just slowly grinding against Seokjin's thigh when he realised his kisses weren't reciprocated anymore.
"Yes! I’m fine, sorry, I spaced out." He smiled at him, kissed his cheeks. "Anyway, maybe next time? I’ll tell you when I’m in peak shape to do it. If I can’t give you my absolute best, then what’s the point?" He said, getting off Jungkook's bed. "I'm gonna make dinner for you, babe!"
Jungkook looked at Seokjin escape the bedroom, stunned. Then he chuckled to himself.
Seokjin was obviously flustered. It was understandable, Jungkook had just told him something pretty substantial.
They had time to do it. All the time in the world.
They went to sleep, kissing in an almost chaste way compared to the increased passion they had experienced in the past few days.
Jungkook was fine with that. Seokjin was still close to him, still hugging, still smiling. He was probably being careful, as always.
Jungkook woke up just in time to see Seokjin pat his head and leave the room. He pouted. He would have liked his morning snuggles and soft kisses. He heard the noises of cupboards and pans in the kitchen. Seokjin was making breakfast. Perhaps to show he was thankful? Jungkook snorted and smiled in his pillow.
In the evening, the hugs and kissing remained pretty tame. They were watching a movie and Seokjin seemed really absorbed in it. Jungkook didn’t need to have sex right this instant, he could let Seokjin enjoy the movie.
Jungkook woke up alone in bed the next morning. He could still feel Seokjin’s warmth next to him. His spot was crumpled, had been slept in. He could hear Seokjin in the kitchen, preparing breakfast alone. It was nice of him to have let Jungkook sleep in.
That night, Seokjin asked him to teach him about the card game Jungkook had worked on, for one of his (their) favorite book series. His enthusiasm was contagious, and Jungkook taught him with the oldest version of the deck. A few fierce and brutal games followed, and a lot of hysterical laughter on both parts.
They went to bed, hugging lightly. Seokjin kissed his forehead, his lips staying there a bit longer than they usually did. “Goodnight, Jungkook.” He said against his skin.
Jungkook smiled. “Goodnight, Seokjin.”
Jungkook woke up in the dead of night. He squinted and checked his alarm clock, bleary-eyed. 3:34am. What a disgusting time to wake up for no reason. Jungkook rolled over to hug Seokjin and fall back asleep, only to realise that Seokjin wasn’t there anymore.
Jungkook frowned and blinked, waking up more properly. Seokjin’s spot in the bed was still warm, so Jungkook got up, bleary eyed, and went to the living room, where Seokjin was reading.
“What are you doing?”
Seokjin looked up from his book. “Oh, hey. Did the light wake you up?”
Jungkook shook his head. “No it’s fine. Are you okay?”
“Absolutely! I just didn’t feel like sleeping. Go back to sleep, I’ll come when I’m ready.”
Jungkook nodded. A part of him wanted to snuggle next to Seokjin and fall asleep there, but maybe that was needy. Maybe that would force Seokjin to carry him and put him back to bed.
He also wanted to just cross the distance between Seokjin and him and kiss him goodnight. They didn’t kiss as much these last two days, but maybe that was just the end of the honeymoon phase. Jungkook had heard about that.
Seokjin still hugged him and kissed him. It was just… More controlled. Which was fine too. Jungkook liked all of Seokjin’s hugs and kisses.
Jungkook didn’t cross the distance between them. Somehow, it didn’t feel right.
He gave a light tap on the bedroom door frame and nodded. “Okay. Well, good night.”
“Good night, Jungkook.” Seokjin said, and went back to the book he was reading.
He didn’t come to bed though. Jungkook knew, because a nagging feeling prevented him from falling back asleep.
Maybe Seokjin had insomnia. Could demons have insomnia? He would ask him in the morning.
Jungkook didn’t ask. He thought, I shouldn’t be suspicious . If Seokjin said he didn’t want to sleep, then it was probably just that.
He didn’t ask for sex again with words, but he tried to make Seokjin understand with his body. Seokjin already knew he had Jungkook’s consent, and he was a Lust demon, so surely, he would pick up the hints.
Seokjin always stopped, though. With a giggle, or a smile. A joke, the beginning of a fight, anything.
And it hurt a little. Because Jungkook felt like he had bared himself for Seokjin, showed him what he wanted, and it felt like suddenly, they weren’t on the same wavelength and Seokjin didn’t take him seriously anymore.
Maybe it was the hurt that made Jungkook notice it, but Seokjin stopped kissing and cuddling Jungkook first. And it didn’t have to mean anything in particular. The end of the honeymoon phase. A solar eclipse. A shift in tectonic plates. It didn’t have a deeper meaning than that.
Seokjin didn’t refuse cuddles, he didn’t refuses kisses.
He just… went with the flow. But he didn’t seem so into it anymore. Jungkook tried hard to think that it was just in his own head. That Seokjin still wanted to have sex with him, like he had said when Jungkook had told him.
Yet, Jungkook couldn’t help but feel a bit hurt. Every single time.
Jungkook refused to believe that Seokjin had played him, all this time. He had always been honest, straightforward, talkative.
Seokjin was hiding something. Behind smiles and lukewarm embraces and half kisses, he was hiding something.
The hurt that Jungkook couldn’t take was when he tentatively hugged Seokjin from behind, and Seokjin moved his shoulder to make him move away.
Jungkook hurt, like he had hurt all the times he had been the first one to ask for a kiss or hug Seokjin lately, and it made him feel more and more dejected. And for what?
Seokjin didn’t even talk to him. Did Jungkook not deserve an explanation to this change of behavior?
“Did I do something?”
Seokjin looked above his shoulder. “What?”
Jungkook tried to gulp pass the knot in his throat. It had never been difficult to talk to Seokjin. Why was it suddenly so hard? “You’ve been different.”
Seokjin snorted and went back to stirring the stew he was making. “What are you talking about, I’m just the same.”
Jungkook grabbed his arm to make him face him. “You know that’s not true.” His jaw clenched. “You’re hiding something.”
Seokjin shrugged, but he sighed. As if he was tired of this discussion. As if Jungkook was being dramatic. “I’m not hiding anything. I’m just the same as when you summoned me. Just a Lust demon.”
Jungkook shook his head. Seokjin was stubborn, and he knew it. “Alright then.” He removed his t-shirt and threw it on the floor. "Fuck me."
Seokjin just stared. For the longest time, he didn't react, just stared at Jungkook, bare chest in the kitchen.
And Jungkook was so, so hurt now, that he started saying things that came to his mind without even thinking anymore. "I said, fuck me! Do it already, since you’re just a Lust demon. I gave you my consent, didn’t I?”
He was almost sure he had seen a flicker of hurt on Seokjin's face, but it was gone in an instant.
After a long silence, Seokjin finally said, "Not interested."
That was a blow that Jungkook had not expected.
Everything seemed to crumble around him. He held his breath as the knot in his throat grew bigger, the telltale sign that he was about to cry. He didn’t want Seokjin to see him cry. “Get out. I don’t wanna see you right now.”
Seokjin bowed slightly, and disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Jungkook opened the window and looked at the smoke dissipate. When it was completely gone, only then did he let himself collapse on the floor and sob, hugging himself as if he could hide his naked chest and his bleeding heart.
For any complaint, my imaginary secretary is at your service. *flees*
“That’s his choice to make! I know they’re humans, but give him some credit, Lord.”
Or, Seokjin realises he acted like a fool and decides to hold himself accountable and gain Jungkook's trust again.
As always, this story is consistently beta'd by Kim, who just *gets* it and me ♡♡
“I must say, I didn’t expect you here.”
Seokjin smiled amiably. “It’s always you coming to visit me, Hoseok. It was high time I returned the favor.”
Hoseok said nothing to that. “Coffee?”
“Sure. With sugar and milk.”
Hoseok snorted and mumbled. “Yeah, I’m afraid Yoongi doesn’t have that.”
Seokjin squinted. “What was that?”
“Nothing.” Hoseok said. “Just, go explore the place, I’ll join you with coffee.”
Seokjin shrugged and stepped back to the living room where he had appeared. He looked at everything, trying to distract his mind from the throbbing pain behind his eyes. There was some weird piano-looking furniture in a corner, with a desk and screens not unlike Jungkook's--
Seokjin cleared his throat, focusing on the little trinkets on the coffee table. “So. This is where your human lives?”
“Yup.” Hoseok said from the kitchen. “We’re in Daegu, by the way.”
Seokjin hummed. “Pretty close. How amusing.”
Hoseok came back with coffee, two cups. “I put more water in yours to try to make it less… bitter.”
Seokjin took the cup. As soon as he sniffed its contents, he made a disgusted face. “How can you drink that?”
Hoseok snorted. “You get used to it.” He sat on the couch. It was covered with fluffy-looking cushions and blankets and looked incredibly inviting and comfortable.
Seokjin sat next to him. He didn’t want to talk about Jungkook. Or maybe he did. But he had no idea how to bring it up. “So. What’s up with your human? Yoongi, you said?”
Hoseok smiled softly. “Yes, Min Yoongi. Oh, I have so much to tell you! The other day, he invited one of his friends for dinner.” He played a rhythm on his cup with the tips of his fingers, smiling to himself. “He introduced me as his boyfriend."
Seokjin almost burst out in laughter. "His boyfriend?" he frowned, trying to quell the uneasy feeling in his chest. "How human of him."
Hoseok stared at Seokjin, and he looked awfully serious. "Right? That's exactly what I told him when his friend was gone."
"Of course you did." Seokjin said into his coffee cup. "That's the normal reaction."
"But then, you see." Hoseok shook his finger, like he was playing a role. "He said the most enlightening thing."
"Really, now." Seokjin replied flatly.
Hoseok smiled, like he was proud. "Yes. He said, 'of course we're boyfriends', like it was the most obvious thing in the world.”
Seokjin rolled his eyes, his jaw locked uncomfortably. “I guess it is. For humans.”
“You should’ve seen him, he said it with so much... confidence, so much nerve. There wasn't a trace of doubt in his aura." His eyes turned a little glassy. "That was so hot. I fucked him for hours that night." He sipped on his own cup of coffee. "Still no sex on your part?"
Seokjin chose to ignore that last question. "What nonsense are you talking about? We're demons, Hoseok, we're not boyfriends! Especially not to humans."
"Why not?" Hoseok asked calmly.
Seokjin squinted. "Because we don't!"
Hoseok crossed his arms. "We don't have feelings either, and I think that's working great for us."
Seokjin snorted. "Speak for yourself."
Hoseok squinted. "Oh please. That again? You think you don't have feelings for your human?"
Seokjin shrugged and rolled his eyes. "Preposterous."
Hoseok sighed, tried a different angle. "Okay then. Why did you fight?"
Seokjin was shocked that Hoseok knew that. But after a few seconds, he was seething. "Did you spy on me?"
Hoseok groaned. "I didn't, calm down. Any demon close to you would feel it." He pointed at him with his chin. "I can also feel you haven't had sex in months, it's written all over your aura. Why?"
Seokjin sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "None of your business."
"Fine, then I’ll take a guess.”
“Lovely.” Seokjin said sarcastically. “Must you do it out loud?”
“Yes, it’s part of the maieutics process for you.” He stared at Seokjin, and calmly said, “I think you're scared."
Seokjin rolled his eyes again, but quickly looked at the bottom of his cup of coffee, careful to keep an indifferent mask on.
Hoseok sighed heavily and leaned back in the cushions. "A few months ago, I was as cynical and angry as you are now. Because I was scared. I see a bit of my past self in you right now."
“You’re flattering yourself.” Seokjin grumbled.
Hoseok chuckled. "Someone I look up to told me that I should embrace what I want, because, why not after all? We are made of self-indulgence."
Seokjin didn't say anything, didn't move an inch.
Hoseok smiled a little. "You gave me good advice, Seokjin. Look at me, I'm fine, I'm happy. You just have to go for it."
Seokjin snorted and finally managed to answer. "That's easy for you to say."
Hoseok frowned. "Why is that?"
"Because Magick brought you back to him!" Seokjin suddenly shouted. "Magick let you stay with your human, and it brought you back to him when he tried the summoning again! What if I’m not that lucky?”
Hoseok looked like he finally understood. “You’re not scared of your feelings, you’re scared of losing him.”
Seokjin whined and put the cup down. “If we're not summoned, humans can't see us here. He wouldn’t be able to see me, even if I came back.”
"I refuse, you hear me, I refuse, to think I might not be able to hold him again! And if I must never have sex for the rest of his life, trust me, I will never even entertain the idea!"
Hoseok took him in his arms, hugging him. He stroked his pink hair, whispering hushing sounds. “He’s asexual, isn’t he?”
Seokjin wanted to fucking cry. "But he said he was ready to have sex with me, and I realised… I can’t risk it.” He held on to Hoseok tighter. “I could see how sad he was every time I would refuse myself to him, but I can’t risk it--” Seokjin closed his eyes. “He put me on the spot earlier. He started to undress and told me to fuck him and I, I didn’t know what to do.” Seokjin closed his eyes, hard. “So I… I said I wasn’t interested.”
Seokjin groaned, feeling incredibly powerless.
He had been lucky to see Jungkook become more sensual with him, opening beautifully at his own pace and slowly pushing for more, getting so close to having sex with him... Fulfilling the contract and maybe never seeing him again.
A cold, sobering reality check. The terror of not being able to see Jungkook again was bigger than he had expected it to be and Seokjin had panicked. He couldn’t have Magick sending him back, he couldn't even imagine it.
“Jin… Why don’t you explain that to him?”
Seokjin snorted. “If he wants to have sex, he should be able to have sex. It’s not his fault that I’m a demon, he shouldn’t have to endure the shit that comes with it."
“Um, you talk about it like he has no choice. He passed a contract with you first.”
“He thought it wouldn’t work.”
“But it did.” Hoseok said, definitive. “He’s a big boy. He can make his own decisions regarding his life, his sex life and his love life.”
“He shouldn’t have to put up with--”
“That’s his choice to make! I know they’re humans, but give him some credit, Lord.”
Seokjin couldn’t help but chuckle at that, a wet little sound on Hoseok’s shoulder.
Hoseok was just holding him tight now, stroking his hair. "I understand, Seokjin. I really do." He rocked Seokjin softly, back and forth, until he started speaking again. "You know, I had the same fears. When it actually started to matter to me, I was suddenly afraid that Magick would send me away or wouldn't bring me back to him at some point. It does work in mysterious ways, you never know.”
Seokjin pouted, resting his cheek on Hoseok's shoulder. "It really does.”
Hoseok hummed affirmatively. "I solved it though."
Seokjin opened wide eyes and leaned back to look at Hoseok. "You did? How, what did you do?"
Hoseok smiled softly. "I used a secret."
Seokjin frowned. "I fucking hate you. Now's not the time to play riddles."
"No, Seokjin, listen." Hoseok put his hands on Seokjin's shoulders to look at him in the eyes. "The secret thing we can't say. To anyone." He smiled, bigger this time. "I told him."
Seokjin frowned, and suddenly, understanding dawned on him. He gaped at Hoseok. “You didn’t.”
“I did. And I would do it again with him, if I had to.”
Seokjin scanned Hoseok’s face. He was telling the truth. "Holy fucking shit. You did."
Hoseok laughed whole-heartedly.
When Seokjin came back to Jungkook's apartment in Busan, he had to admit he was more nervous than when he was introduced as a high demon to Asmodeus himself.
Jungkook wasn't in the living room, but Seokjin could feel his presence in the bedroom.
He walked there, each step weighing a ton. He stopped at the open door and knocked on the door frame. “Hey.”
Jungkook didn’t look at him. He acted as if he had heard nothing.
Seokjin gulped. “Yeah, I deserve that.”
He noticed Jungkook was wearing a few layers of clothes now. As if he wanted to hide, or protect himself. It made Seokjin's chest ache.
He sighed. “Jungkook, I owe you an apology. And an explanation.”
“Whatever.” Jungkook said.
Seokjin stepped inside and kneeled next to Jungkook. “Okay. Well, here I go.” He licked his lips again. “First, I’m sorry. I acted like a fool.”
“Close enough.” Jungkook mumbled, still focused on his work.
Seokjin sighed. “I didn’t explain everything to you, but you deserve the truth. So I’m going to start from the beginning.” He took a deep breath. “I’m a demon. Magick connects me to your contract, and once the contract is fulfilled, it sends me back. I have no power over that.”
Jungkook turned his head to look down at Seokjin this time.
Seokjin gulped. “I’m a Lust demon, and my contracts have always been about sex… If we have sex, and it fulfills our contract, Magick will probably send me back, even if I don’t want to, even if I want to stay with you.”
Jungkook frowned. “I can, I can summon you again.”
Seokjin shook his head. “You can’t summon the same Lust demon twice.”
Jungkook pouted. “What a shitty rule.” Then something seemed to click in his eyes. “And if you came back without being summoned, you’d be invisible.”
Seokjin nodded quickly. “Exactly.”
Jungkook looked a bit hurt now. “Why didn’t you tell me this instead of being an asshole?”
Seokjin opened his eyes wide, like he was slowly panicking. “Because, if-if I was a human, everything would be easier for you! We could have sex! You deserve to have sex!” He bit his lower lip. “I thought I’d just deal with it on my own and not make you face the restrictions that come with my demonic nature, and that we’d just continue to hug and make out like we have for the past few weeks!" He raised his arms and looked at the ceiling. “And I guess," He groaned, "I guess I was fine with you hating me, as long as I could stay... with you.”
Jungkook raised his eyebrows. “Oh wow.” He stared at Seokjin for a long time before he groaned. “That’s... probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.”
Seokjin blinked and crossed his arms, miffed. “Well, excuse me, I thought it was pretty chivalrous to sacrifice myself--”
“I don’t need you to sacrifice yourself! Without asking me!” Jungkook got up. “I don’t care if you’re a demon or a dragon or whatever. We’ve done pretty great so far, in my opinion.”
Seokjin got up. “B-but… You said you wanted to have sex?” He asked sheepishly.
Jungkook blinked. “I can’t believe I have to say it again. Seokjin, I’m asexual. I don’t care if we never have sex. Literally, don’t give a single shit.”
Seokjin opened his mouth. Closed it. Opened it again. “Yeah, but--”
Jungkook crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, as if he was waiting for something stupid to come out of Seokjin’s mouth. Which, rude?
Seokjin sighed. “I just wish I could give you what you wanted, whether you need it or not.” He shrugged. “I want to spoil you. I guess.”
Jungkook stared at him, his whole demeanour becoming softer. “I know we’ve been… physically close, and I’m sure it would be nice, but it’s not the end of the world if we don’t have sex.” He cleared his throat. “If that’s all it takes to make sure you stay, of course I don’t care about sex.”
Seokjin smiled a little. “That’s… kind of what I told Hoseok earlier.” He chuckled.
Jungkook rolled his eyes. “See. It wasn’t that hard.” He sighed. “You should have talked to me."
Seokjin nodded in a hurry. "Yes. I was a fool."
Jungkook bit his lower lip, his arms still crossed. "Promise me you won’t do this again. Because... I trust you, and you’ve been a real dick and you’ve hurt me.”
Seokjin gulped. Jungkook trusted him, and he had hurt him. “I’m so, so deeply sorry. I’ll do everything in my power to not make that mistake again, I never want to hurt you. I’m… So sorry." He put his hand on his eyes. "I should’ve trusted you.”
Jungkook looked on the side. “Damn right, you should have.” He mumbled. “You’re just a big baby and I’m the reasonable one in this relationship.”
“Jungkook.” Seokjin took a step closer, his resolve even stronger now. “I want to prove to you how much you mean to me. Because you deserve it. Because I care about you. And I, I want to be your... boyfriend?”
Jungkook smiled a bit reluctantly at that. “‘Bout time you made it official.”
“I couldn’t agree more.” Seokjin smiled. “Which is why I'm going to tell you my sigil."
Jungkook stared at him. “Your what?”
“My sigil.” Seokjin licked his lips. “For demons, it’s like... The ultimate proof of trust."
Jungkook frowned. "What's a sigil?"
Seokjin sighed. "Basically... It's my true name. I'm the only one in all the universes to know it."
"So your real name isn't Seokjin?"
"I mean, it is. But it's not my sigil. The symbol that represents me, my identity, it encompasses what I am, my essence, my Magick. It's mine only, and if you know it, you can control me if you wish. If you know my sigil, I'm at your mercy."
Jungkook sighed. "But I don't want to control you."
Seokjin smiled and took his hands in his. "No, but." He chuckled. "If you use my sigil in the invocation process, you’ll be able to summon me specifically. If Magick decides to send me back." He smiled. “You’ll be able to summon me back at your side. Whenever you want.”
Jungkook blinked, and slowly started smiling until it was scrunching up his nose and making his eyes twinkle. “So you’re staying.”
“Yes. For as long as you’ll have me.”
“And we could actually have sex.”
Seokjin blinked. He had not expected Jungkook to jump on that conclusion so quickly. “Well, yes. As a matter of fact.”
Jungkook pinched Seokjin’s bicep and Seokjin yelped and jumped a step backward, his hands in defense mode. “Why!”
Jungkook tried to punch Seokjin's arm again. “Why didn’t you start with that! Why did you make that whole speech about you becoming a freaking monk and never having sex ever again just to stay with me?”
Seokjin raised his face in a theatrical way, the back of his hand lightly touching his forehead. “I thought it would be more dramatic and heroic. Don’t overlook the power of theatrics!”
Jungkook put both his hands on his face with a loud groan. “I should’ve known, I should’ve fucking known…” But in his voice, Seokjin could hear his smile, pleased and happy, and his ears were so red they look about to self combust.
Seokjin licked his lips and got closer to Jungkook again. “Hey.” He put his hand on Jungkook’s elbow, making him lower his hands. “Can I please kiss you? I’ve been slowly dying ever since I tried to put distance between us.”
Jungkook groaned loudly. “Damn, that was dumb. So dumb of you. Turbo dumb.”
Seokjin pouted. “Yeah, yeah, I get it, I was an idiot, can I please make it better?”
Jungkook hummed. “I want to take it slow. Ease back into it.”
Seokjin nodded. “Of course.” He stroked Jungkook’s hands, slowly went up his shoulders. He had rejected Jungkook a few times, even if it wasn’t with words. He understood that Jungkook would feel the need to be careful again.
After a long moment of Seokjin simply stroking Jungkook’s shoulders with his thumbs, Jungkook stepped a bit closer, carefully, tentatively making contact with Seokjin’s body. He inhaled deeply and blew through his nose, his aura warmer and content.
Seokjin was about to die with how much he wanted to cherish this human.
Jungkook slowly lifted his face and kissed the corner of Seokjin’s lips, once, twice. “Yeah, you can kiss me.”
As promised, Seokjin went slow. His hands went up to cup Jungkook’s face, oh so tenderly, and he angled it just to be able to kiss it with all the reverence he could.
Maybe he was feeling. Maybe giving all the time and emotional space for Jungkook to bloom again was the best thing that could happen to Seokjin, ever.
And Seokjin would wait for all eternity, if that’s what Jungkook needed. He genuinely didn’t care if they never had sex, ever.
After a few days, they were back to their usual intimacy, Seokjin making sure he would give so much physical contact to Jungkook he would actual beg Seokjin to go away, calling him stifling and smothering and laughing wholeheartedly.
One afternoon, Jungkook was sitting in Seokjin’s lap and they were kissing softly, enjoying each other’s presence, when Jungkook whispered. “I want you to show me.”
Seokjin hummed a question, kissing Jungkook’s jawline.
Jungkook laughed silently. “Are you listening?”
“Sure.” Seokjin said, way more interested in pressing kisses on any bit of Jungkook’s neck he could find.
Jungkook put his hand on Seokjin’s mouth and pushed him to stare in his eyes. “I, I want to have sex. With you. But I want you to…”
Seokjin raised an eyebrow and pushed Jungkook’s hand away from his mouth. “Initiate?”
Jungkook nodded. “Yeah. I’ll tell you if it’s not a right time. Just, show me… Show me that you want it.” He pinched his lips. “Is that okay?”
Seokjin smiled softly. “Yes.” He wasn’t surprised by Jungkook’s request. After Seokjin had pushed him away, he was seeking some reassurance. “I want you to feel desired. Because I desire you immensely.”
Jungkook looked shy now. He closed his eyes, hid his face on Seokjin’s shoulder. “You really do?”
Seokjin held Jungkook tighter. “Yes. I’m revolted that I gave you a different impression, I’ll do everything to make it right again.” He kissed Jungkook’s ear. “I’ve never wanted anyone more than I want you.”
Jungkook whined, long and embarrassed. “Stop saying stuff like this, oh my god!”
Seokjin could hear the smile in his voice though. He poked at Jungkook, encouraged him to raise his head again.
Jungkook licked his lips, stroked Seokjin’s nose with his. “Thank you.” He whispered, their lips brushing together.
“Anything for you.” Seokjin whispered back.
“So, this is your sigil?” Jungkook pointed at the invocation circle Seokjin had just drawn on the floor of his living room.
They had pushed the couch and rolled the carpet, just like the first time Jungkook had summoned Seokjin.
“Yep. This is it.” Seokjin said, and he looked more nervous than ever.
Jungkook supposed that it felt like being naked, except that nudity wasn’t a problem for Seokjin. It was his own kind of nudity. “It’s really pretty.”
“Thank you. You’re the first one to tell me. Since, you know. You’re the first one to see it.”
Gosh, Seokjin looked nervous. Jungkook’s chest felt warm with protectiveness. “I’ll be careful. I’ll learn it by heart and I’ll erase it as soon as I use it.”
Seokjin gulped, nodded. “I’ll teach you how to pronounce it. For the summoning.”
"I have a question." Seokjin said around a mouthful of ramyeon. "It's about sex."
Jungkook raised his head, his cheeks stuffed like a hungry hamster. "You have a question?" He swallowed the whole content of his mouth in one go, a rather impressive feat. "Shouldn't it be the other way around?"
Seokjin chuckled and dipped his chopsticks in the ramyeon carton again. "It's about you. What you like or don't like." He slurped a long noodle. "If I initiate, I want to make as little mistakes as possible. I can feel in your aura what feels good or not, but I'd rather have... basic guidelines."
"Oh." Jungkook said. He stared at his own noodles. "I was uh. I was ready to do whatever you want and tell you stop if it didn't feel right."
Seokjin frowned. "I'm at your service, Jungkook, not the other way around."
Jungkook was blushing so hard he rivaled the broth of his spicy ramyeon. "You know, sometimes you say truly embarrassing stuff."
Seokjin wiggled his eyebrows. "And I'm only warming up."
Jungkook snorted and sighed. "Fine. What do you wanna know?"
"Where can I touch you?"
Jungkook went back to eating. "Mh. Everywhere, I guess. Don't focus on my uh..."
Jungkook cringed instantly. "Ew. Yeah. Like, you can touch it, just, the rest of my body is sensitive."
"Do you have particular erogenous zones?"
Jungkook seemed to consider the question carefully. "My neck, my scalp." He bit his lower lip. "My--" He looked down. "My nipples."
Seokjin tried to remain expressionless, but a billion images were going through his mind, most of them involving Jungkook arching up under his hands and mouth.
"I really prefer being clothed, if that's okay."
Seokjin raised his eyebrows. "Everything is okay, there's no right or wrong in your preferences."
"Mh." Jungkook said, a shy little smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Okay. Well, I, I also prefer to do it in the dark."
Seokjin squinted. "I should probably tell you I can see perfectly in the dark."
Jungkook opened his eyes wide. "What? Really? That's so cool!"
"You're like, a superhero!" Jungkook went back to his noodles, nodding to himself. "Very cool."
"You don't mind that I can see you?"
Jungkook hummed and looked at the ceiling. "I don't think so. If I can't see that you can see me, I don't care."
Seokjin put his hand under his chin. "Interesting. What else?"
Jungkook shrugged. "I don't know."
Seokjin put his chopsticks on the table, a pleased smile on his face. "Do you masturbate?"
Jungkook choked on his noodles but quickly recovered. "I-- " He frowned, looking determined. "Yes."
Seokjin leaned back in his chair. "How?"
Jungkook looked like a deer in the headlights. Adorable. "You're not gonna make fun of me, right?"
Seokjin snorted. "I highly doubt it."
Jungkook licked his lips, puffy and red with the spice. He looked left, right, and finally sighed. "I. I like humping a pillow..." He finished on a murmur.
Seokjin put his hand on his mouth, pressed under his nose. The mere thought of Jungkook riding a pillow-- "Fucking Lord."
"What?" Jungkook asked defensively.
Seokjin put both his hands on his eyes this time. "How is this the hottest thing I can possibly think of?"
Jungkook groaned. He got up, taking both his and Seokjin's ramyeon cartons. "See, you're making fun."
Seokjin put his hand on his chest. "You think I'm joking?
Jungkook put the empty cartons in the trash and rolled his eyes. "You've had sex more than I can count, and that's the hottest thing you can think of?"
Seokjin looked at Jungkook in the eyes, dead serious. "And I mean it. Perhaps feelings make things better?"
Jungkook pinched his lips, trying to suppress a smile. "You heretic."
"Keep the dirty talk for the bedroom."
Jungkook laughed loudly, his head thrown backward in delight.
"You said you've had sex before."
Jungkook was snuggled between Seokjin's legs, his back on Seokjin's chest, playing Pokemon on his switch. He was surprised that Seokjin had said nothing so far. He usually asked a lot of questions about the video games Jungkook played. It was impossible to play one game of Overwatch if Seokjin was in the vicinity, and since Seokjin was always there, Jungkook's SR had suffered a lot.
So, Jungkook expected a question about Pokemons. Not his meagre sex life. "Hm. Why do you ask?"
"How was it? I need to check my competition."
Jungkook snorted. "They're not competition." He shrugged. "I don't know. With people I was okay to have sex with, it was nice. Sometimes boring."
Seokjin’s mouth was hanging open, Jungkook could see it in his peripheral vision. “...Boring?" He pushed the switch out of Jungkook's hands. "Are you serious?”
Jungkook chuckled. “I don’t mind. At least, it was my own conscious choice, I was fully consenting.”
Seokjin raised an eyebrow. “I didn’t expect the bar to be so low.”
Jungkook laughed and grabbed the switch back. “You can only impress me then.” He said cockily.
"Is this a challenge, you brat?"
Jungkook snickered like a little shit. "You love me."
Seokjin wrapped his arms around Jungkook's waist and hugged him tightly, his face against Jungkook's shoulder. "You're insufferable." He huffed.
Jungkook knew by now that was a love declaration in disguise.
“Will you tell me if you’re bored?” Seokjin asked, his fingers slipping under the hem of Jungkook’s t-shirt, barely touching the skin there.
They were laying down on the couch, Seokjin on top of Jungkook, watching TV and just touching.
“Bored?” Jungkook asked, absent-mindedly stroking Seokjin’s shoulders and hair, absorbed in the movie.
“Sex. Would you tell me if it’s boring?”
Jungkook hummed. “Sure. Try not to make it boring, though.” He snickered.
Seokjin pinched the annoyingly tight skin of Jungkook’s abs. “I know what you’re trying to do, Jeon, you think you can rile me up? Because you damn well know I will do more than try, I will fucking succeed-- stop laughing!”
Jungkook’s dumb laughter filled the living room and Seokjin couldn’t help but join him with an equally dumb laughter of his.
