The top floor of Bangtan Industries is pin-drop silent, as if everyone is holding their breath. Employees duck into their cubicles and make themselves appear as busy as possible, praying for their lives that they aren't the unlucky individual to be publicly shamed today.
"Looks like we've got a Code Red today..." an employee pacing back and forth in the break room wearing a freshly-pressed suit sighs. "Just wish he wouldn't take it out on everyone, though."
"Just be glad he likes us enough to spare us from his wrath, Hoseok," another man whispers, standing by the coffee machine.
The five of them, consisting of Jung Hoseok, Park Jimin, Min Yoongi, Kim Namjoon, and Kim Seokjin, were undeniably Jeongguk’s favorites. It was largely in part to the fact that the group was always on top of their game when it came to the workplace, but also due to the fact that they were all friends of Jeongguk before Bangtan Industries was even a major corporation.
"He's coming this way, be chill," Namjoon whispers.
The confident clacking of designer dress shoes slowly gets closer and closer. Turning the corner into the main lobby of the floor is a man clad in a crisp, black suit, putting himself together so professionally that not a hair is out of place. His facial features are soft, but the look in his eyes can only be described as stoic and harsh. This man, very clearly, means business.
“Ara, I said needed the trade agreement on my desk my 12:00 sharp,” Jeongguk barks, not even bothering to look at who he was speaking to. He walks straight into his office, pulling out his phone and immediately shutting the door.
Hoseok pulls out his phone. 12:03 pm. “Jesus,” he breathes, “How that man is married is beyond me. Someone please text Taehyung before he burns the place down.”
The woman Jeongguk called out, Ara, scurries toward Jeongguk’s door, looking absolutely mortified, but nonetheless, with papers in hand.
“I got it, hold up,” Jimin tells the group.

Just as Jimin sends the last message, he hears the door open and the sound of footsteps that he’d recognize anywhere. He looks up, and sees Taehyung looking sleepy, but still positively radiant in a casual hoodie and sweatpants.
He walked through, giving a smile to anyone and everyone who makes eye contact with him, and finally stops at Jeongguk’s door-- except, he doesn’t knock; instead, he walks right through, and seats himself on the deep grey sofa directly across from Jeongguk’s desk.
Some of the newer employees hold their breath, waiting for the moment that Jeongguk will lash out and kick out whoever it was that strode into his office so casually. But the others know just how much of a soft spot Jeongguk has for Taehyung-- how Taehyung could do just about anything, and Jeongguk is completely powerless.
“What are you doing here?” Jeongguk asks, surprise in his eyes, but indifference in every other sense.
“Well, I wanted to make some food for you to eat for lunch. Surprise! It’s your favorite. I brought banana milk for you, too.” Taehyung smiles sweetly.
Jungkook stares at Taehyung, but says nothing.
“Aw, come on! I said I was sorry! You should’ve woken me up if you wanted me to see you off so badly.” Taehyung pouts.
Jeongguk sighs, and gets up from his desk, his cold exterior melting with every step. By the time he reasons Taehyung on the couch, he kneels down and cups Taehyung’s face with his hands. “How could I? You were sleeping so deeply, I didn’t want to wake you.”
The faculty witnessing this all but gasps. Like a switch, Jeongguk had gone from tantrum to loving.
"Damn, 100 to 0 real quick," a voice says.
“Well, I’m here now, aren’t I?” Taehyung smiles, “Here, eat. You have to eat everything, okay? Coffee isn’t even nutrition to last you through the day.” He warns.
“Okay, mom,” Jungkook teases. “Why don’t you stay here with me for a bit? Stay with me while I eat.”
Taehyung makes a noise of approval, and takes Jeongguk’s hand while he leads him back to the fancy chair at the head of his desk. Jeongguk sits down, and pulls Taehyung onto his lap. They both chat together, Taehyung telling him about a dog he saw on the way to the office, while Jeongguk listens intently.
Jeongguk opens the lunchbox and sees that Taehyung has made a full-on bento box for him, with sausages shaped like octopuses and carrots cut into stars. Jeongguk’s eyes light up, and he wears an adorable bunny like smile.
“You’re so cute.” Taehyung pinches his cheeks, “Umm.. So, I heard you chewed out Ara today, huh?” Taehyung starts.
“Yeah… about that,” Jeongguk says, looking apologetic.
“You should say sorry, Guk. You can’t get mad at her just because your irresistibly dashing husband didn’t get to kiss you good morning.” Taehyung teases, kissing him lightly on the cheek.
“Hmm… well, you’re right about two things. One, I should say sorry to Ara for being too harsh, and two, my husband is irresistibly dashing,” Jeongguk smiles, “Seriously, though, I’ll apologize next time I see her. Thank you for setting me straight.”
“No problem, baby. That’s what I’m here for.”
The two continue to chat, Jeongguk eating the food from Taehyung simultaneously. He feeds Taehyung pieces from the bento box, cherishing the time they get to spend together despite Jeongguk having to be at work.
When Jeongguk takes his last bite, Taehyung grabs his hands and brings out the puppy eyes. “Can I go say hi to everyone? Pleaseeeee,” Taehyung pouts, but he knows he’s won already.
“Baby, they’re busy.” Jeongguk tries to argue, but Taehyung has already gotten up and has his eye set on the office, not-so-discreetly sneaking glances at the couple through the glass.
“Come with me!” Taehyung pulls Jeongguk.
“Hold on,” Jeongguk pulls Taehyung close to him, so that Jeongguk’s chin leans on Taehyung’s shoulder, and Jeongguk’s arms wrap around Taehyung’s waist and clasp at his stomach. “Everyone, you may or may not have already met him, but this is my husband, Kim Taehyung. Tae, introduce yourself.” Jeongguk gives him an encouraging smile.
“Good morning, everyone! It’s so nice to finally officially meet all of you. I’m Kim Taehyung,” Taehyung flashes his signature box-smile, and the aura of the office immediately becomes more uplifting. “Some of you may recognize me from my clothing line, Singularity.”
The office “ahhs” with recognition, and Taehyung turns towards Jeongguk, giving him a peck on the cheek. “I should get going, I think. I don’t wanna distract you from your work for much longer,” Taehyung laughs.
“Aw, you’re such a fun distraction, though,” Jeongguk grins. “I’ll see you at home, baby.” He leans down and kisses him, cutting it short after a bit, knowing that the faculty is watching them both of them.
Taehyung releases Jeongguk’s hand and starts towards the door, turning around and giving a final wave and a smile. The office is a bit awestruck, but waves back to Taehyung. Jeongguk watches him go through the door, affection swimming in his eyes, and a faint smile still on his lips.
“He’s a really sweet guy, Sir. You’re very lucky.” A man near the back of the room says.
Jeongguk smiles. “I know.”
