Brilliant trope subversion. Every has soulmate-identifying devices implanted and there are a lot of laws and mores around only ever being with your soulmate. Viktor already matched with someone else, but falls in love with Yuuri anyway. Tons of scandal and hatred ensues, and they have to weather some terrible storms and loss of respect from nearly everyone in the world.
