“All men have stars, but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems... But all these stars are silent. You...you alone will have stars as no one else has them."

The Ace of Cups: New Feelings

    ~

“’Blue’, huh? Of all the nicknames you’ve given the crew, that is by far the most adorable and least platonic.”

“Uh,” he stopped mid-pour, letting some eggs fall gracelessly onto a plate. He laughed – probably louder than necessary – sliding the messy plate over to Steve. “Man, what are you talking about?”

Steve took his breakfast happily, continuing to pin James with that knowing stare as he loaded up a fork.

“James, I’ve seen you flirt with every person on this crew. Even Samantha. Hell, you pretended to hit on Garrus just last night. But with him, it’s…” he huffed, his smile deepening. “It’s sweet. In all the time I’ve known you, I’ve never seen you like that with someone. Like a little kid with a crush. It’s frankly adorable.”

James cleared his throat. Man, was it hot in here? He didn’t have a thing for Kaidan.

    Did he?

    Summary

Scott and Jaal both have a lot to learn. Or: seven conversations. (Or: Scott Ryder does some recreational flirting, blesses a baby, and makes several mistakes that somehow cancel each other out.)

“No,” Scott says slowly. “Our cows stay on the ground. I kind of want to see an angaran cow now, though.”

“They’re rainbow-colored,” Jaal says. “They have long hair that angaran children like to brush and braid. When you make true friends with an angaran cow, they let you cut the braids off to wear as arm accessories.”

“You’re messing with me,” Scott says, delighted.

    Summary

After Meridian, everything was supposed to be fine. And it was! Everything has been just fine, perfect really, as peachy as can be expected when you're a struggling initiative in a new galaxy. It's great. It's wonderful.

Scott can't quite keep up like he used to. That's the part that isn't so fine.

    Summary

Plucking a folded sheet of parchment off her clipboard, Josephine crossed the room and laid it out on Cullen’s desk.

“I recently received an interesting missive from a man claiming to be a Templar of some standing. I wondered if you might have heard of him?”

Cullen took the letter from her and slid it over, leaning in to frown down at it. He scanned the page once, whip-fast, eyebrows jumping as he reached the signature at the bottom, and then looped his gaze back up to the top and read it again at a more sedate page.

“Knight-Commander Holt?” he said, casting a quick, curious glance at Josephine. She nodded in response and Cullen tilted his head and hummed, clearly impressed. He pushed the letter back in Josephine’s direction and leaned back again. “Yes, I know him, though mostly by virtue of reputation. I only met the man once. He was a Knight-Captain then, serving as a representative of the Amaranthine Circle during a skills exhibition early on in my tenure at the Kirkwall Gallows. He cut quite the impressive figure, as I recall.”
