Summary
It had been Chimney and Maddie, who had suggested the trip, and so ultimately, Buck sort of felt like this crisis was all their fault. Sharing a bed with Eddie used to be so normal, for the both of them, and now it made Buck feel as though his heart was about to beat out of his chest. That was the downside of being secretly in love with your best friend, he supposed.

Summary
Sophia smiled, the expression soft, and reassuring. “We used to talk more, you and I,” she said, and the words weren’t accusatory, not really: they were a statement of fact that Eddie couldn’t deny. They used to talk more, and then Eddie had started to keep Texas, and his father, and his whole family, at arms length, hiding from the exact gaze his sister was giving him now, piercing and all-knowing, Eddie never able to hide from the elder Diaz sibling.
or, Eddie and his sister have a heart-to-heart after their father's retirement party. post 5x17 coda.

Summary
Buck liked to think that he was good in a crisis. His whole career - it hinged on him being cool, and calm, and collected in a crisis. He had to be able to think on his feet, and react, and be there for people in the worst moment of their life, and he prided himself on being good at it. But it was different, he supposed, when it was someone you loved.
In the aftermath of Eddie's breakdown, Buck begins to pick up the pieces and find a way to help his best friend heal.

Eddie deserved to be happy too. He didn’t believe that, every day, but he told himself that every day in the hopes that one day, believing it would come more easily. He wanted to believe he would be deserving of Buck's love, too, one day, but he wasn't quite there yet either. One day, he knew, he would be - but that day wasn't today.
- or, Buck and Eddie share a dance at a wedding, and begin to address the elephant in the room that is their feelings for each other.

Summary
It was a silly admission to make, Eddie knew, but he’d honestly forgotten to think about what would come after – after the love confession, after his feelings were out in the open, and so he'd been entirely unprepared for Good Boyfriend Buck.
or - seven times Eddie experiences Good Boyfriend Buck and one time Good Boyfriend Eddie has his time to shine.

Summary
“Did you really drive all this way, just for me?” he interrupts, his heart hammering in his chest.
Eddie hesitates before nodding slowly, scratching at his chin. “Of course I did.”
Buck blinks slowly, feeling the familiar stinging of tears in his eyes. “It’s two in the morning.” he chokes out, wincing internally at the way his voice cracks. “Why did you come now?”
Eddie shrugs, the corner of his lip quirking up in an imitation of a smile. “You needed me.” he states. “You’re my family, and you needed me. When my family needs me, I come running. Simple as that.”

Summary
His Google search history leading up to Hen and Karen’s vow renewal looks like this:
How to stop being attracted to your best friend
Why am I attracted to my best friend
Why am I attracted to my best friend + man
Why are arms so attractive on men
How to make my house carry-proof
How do I tell my best friend to keep his shirt on
Why does my best friend keep yawning
Yawning remedies
Dry lip remedies
Slip-resistant dish gloves
Slip-resistant dish gloves floral patternAnd then he just spent the next hour finding and ordering stupid dish gloves for Buck, because Google, it turns out, does not always have the answer, and leaves Eddie with more questions than before (like: does Buck have sleep apnea, actually, and if so, should he be seeing someone for it?).

Summary
“Did you—kick everybody out?” Eddie asks, pointing over his shoulder. He somehow manages to make it look cute, and Buck really has no idea how he's supposed to bear another twenty-three hours and fifty-nine minutes of this.
“Maybe,” Chimney shrugs, elbows on the kitchen island, a celery stick hanging out of the corner of his mouth like a cigarette. “Everyone knows we run this shift anyway.”
in which eddie finally gets a cake.

Summary
“I think,” he says, watching Karen pull Hen out onto the dance floor, their eyes never leaving each other’s, “I think I’m just—sad.”
Maybe. That feels like a close enough word to describe this gaping maw right in the center of his chest. It’s only really there sometimes, taking little bites out of him, easy enough to ignore, but today is worse.
“About being single at a wedding,” Eddie says, not a question.
Buck shrugs. “Sounds stupid when you put it that way.”
or, the one with the four weddings (feat. a drunk karen wilson, shania twain, a single cheerio, and some confessions over cubed fruit).
