    Summary

Geralt is just supposed to pass through the quiet Lettenhove area. He's not anticipating being begged by its people to help save their viscount from a curse that keeps him from daylight. Lord Jaskier, they call him, and he's likely dying.

As Geralt struggles to untangle the ugly web of history that has lead to the increasingly complicated curse, he finds himself spending more and more time with the strange young viscount and wondering just what he might have been before the curse, and who he might be after. But things are not always as they seem, and as the curse tightens its grip on Jaskier, Geralt is forced to face the fear of failing yet another person whose choices were stolen from them.

    Or-

Jaskier is kept from becoming a bard. Geralt finds him anyway.

    Summary

Unexpected side effect of Jaskier praising witchers far and wide: children making the logical jump that witchers can handle ALL monsters. Including such subspecies as the under-the-bed variety.

And, well, what are you supposed to say to a child who asks you to fight a monster for them?

    Summary

Jaskier swallows and blinks rapidly for a moment, teeth grit as he pulls in slow breaths through his nose. "We've known each other for most of my life. I've seen you in almost every state it's possible to see another person in. I thought- think- that you trust me?"

Geralt nods again, slower this time. He's trying to understand, he really is, but this isn't easy like things usually are with Jaskier.

"But you won't talk to me," Jaskier says. "I tried, you gave monosyllabic answers when you had to, and we sat here in silence until Yen showed up. And then, well, then you become a regular chatty cathy. You talk to her about Ciri even after turning me away when I tried to do the same. And I get that you have this... this stupid bound fate connection with her, and that you're in love with her. But you literally only just stopped fighting after she betrayed you worse than anyone ever has before, and you already feel more comfortable with her than with me! I just don't understand."

It's baffling. Geralt's baffled. More than he ever has been by any of Jaskier's long winded rants.

    Summary

“How did you manage,” asked Geralt, with infinite patience and only a desire to know the facts, and not at all a little meanhearted glee, “to insult a sorcerer while his tongue was down your throat?”

Don’t make me recount the entire sordid affair, Geralt,” said Jaskier, with a surprising note of desperation breaking through his gruff monotone. “I’m already having a rather shit day and all I’ve done so far is wake up.”

    “In my body,” said Geralt.

“Yes,” said Jaskier, with the insolent cadence that was unmistakably Jaskier’s, but in Geralt’s voice, emerging from Geralt’s face and frame.

“And I’ve got yours,” said Geralt, from Jaskier’s.
