    Summary

It's not until he's sprawled on his back in the beginning of the second period, dazed and staring up in search of anything he can focus on to get the rink to stop spinning around him, that he actually looks at the stands.

So it's surreal when he looks now and his eyes focus on a single face. One that resolves into someone achingly familiar amidst the crush of shouting fans and players starting a fight around him, lit bright and golden from the light reflecting off the ice.

    Someone he-

He has his hands over his mouth, his body frozen stiff and his dark eyes so wide as he stares back at Jack, so frightened-looking and for a moment Jack has the strangest rush of protectiveness, of a need to check whatever it is that's upsetting Bittle… a man he hasn't seen or heard from in years - until he realizes that Jack's blood on the ice is probably the thing that's upsetting.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Marked as complete but doesn't really feel that way.
Ends with Bitty and Jack not together, Bitty's situation uncertain and possibly v bad. Also, Jack can't get ahold of him anymore.
Really wish there was a sequel but author no longer writing Check Please and no longer responding to comments.

    Probably shouldn't reread this one.

    Summary

Jack had first heard of Eric Bittle when he became the first out NCAA men's hockey captain. Then Bittle signed with Toronto, becoming the first out NHL player. That's how Jack met him.

Now he's being traded to the Falconers, which means that he and Jack need to have a conversation. Because they've done a lot more than meet since then.

fantastic premise that Jack didn't go to Samwell but Bitty did, then Bitty signed with the NHL and only then did they meet. and hit it off. quite well. QUITE well.

If only things were that easy.

    Summary

Eric Bittle, of Bitty's Bakery, is very excited to have been chosen as a contestant for the Food Network Challenge. He's even more excited to find out that he's making a cake for the NHL new-Cup winners, the Falconers.

Jack Zimmerman, of the Falconers, doesn't know anything about cake, and will be the first to tell you that he feels wholly unqualified to judge a cake-making competition. At least Alexei is there to help ease things a little. Honestly, all he's really expecting is to be very awkward on camera for the entire segment, and to eat a lot of cake that's not really in his diet plan.

    That's how it starts.
