Summary
Yoo Joonhyun fell to his knees. Blood poured from his head and pain lanced through his body. He looked down to the source of the burning sensation. The hole in his stomach was far too large for his ‘Dormant Rehabilitation’ to possibly have any effect.
He coughed up blood he didn’t realize he still had left to spill. He thought he could hear his companions’ voices and their weapons tearing at the monster’s flesh, but the sounds were drowned out by the ringing in his ears.
A dim sphere of light emerged from his heart. His vision grew blurrier and blurrier, before blanking out completely.

And so begins Yoo Joonhyun's 1000th life.

"Yoo Joonghyuk. Really, what do you think you’re doing?”
The other man cups his fingers in his hands, thumbs rubbing over his palms in a circling rhythm.
“You’re such a mother hen. The tea will go cold at this rate.”
Yoo Joonghyuk hums in reply, glancing up to him, then to the abandoned cup of tea on the bedside table, before returning his careful attention to the scarred expanse of his hands. Really, he doesn’t mind the touch itself. It’s just that he hasn’t quite gotten used to the man’s attempts at emotional honesty. They’re clumsy and uncertain, but still backed by an unwavering bravery Kim Dokja can’t openly admit to lacking.

There’s always a fear, at the back of his mind, that the moment he lets his guard down is exactly the moment where something happens that deviates from the story he knows and throws all his plans in disarray. It shouldn’t happen, he knows. But, still, the fear persists.
