Fic Summary:
After firing his former nanny for stealing, Arthur is in a tight spot. Against his better judgement, he allows his sister Morgana to find him someone new. Enter Merlin, whom Morgana loves, Arthur's son Alex loves, and Arthur will never ever love. No, really. He has the home security -read: spy- system and boatload of trust issues to prove it.
When the unthinkable happens, however, Arthur has room for only one thing. Fear.

Story Summary: When Merlin discovers that Arthur and Gwen's daughter is not actually Arthur's, he knows his options are staying and destroying Arthur's life, staying and lying to Arthur until one or both of them dies, or running the heck away. Four long years later, Morgana orders (though she would say invites) Merlin's new housemate to her wedding, and Merlin finds himself dragged back into the life he ran away from.

Summary
Merlin is in So14, a close protection unit assigned to the guarding of the Royal Family. It's not an easy job at the best of times, but ever since the Pendragons have started receiving threats from Duir, Merlin's has become quite a nerve-wracking occupation. Especially given how fearless Arthur is, how seriously he takes his role as Prince.

The first stories in this series (The Poisoned Pawn Variation, The Eighth Square and The Queen's Bishop) are my version of how S4 could have happened. Though I certainly didn't expect it when I originally wrote these stories, I more or less ended up in the same place as the actual show, so from The Hedgehog Defense on, the series is Canon-Compliant.
