Oh, there were other problems, to be sure. But those had been sorted, for a very generous definition of the word, where ‘sorted’ included ‘no longer being official enemies on account of having formally severed ties with Heaven and Hell’, and ‘hopefully having scared away the furious united hosts of Heaven and Hell, who were very interested in taking some measure of revenge on the both of you.’ And the postponed end of the world was a great help, of course.
But none of that was a problem on such a— such a personal level as this.

Summary
All things considered, it was much too easy to fall back into the cozy familiarity of… call it old routines. Though even from the start, Aziraphale knew that wasn’t quite correct. Yes, over the centuries, having a meal with Crowley or going to a show together had become entirely too comfortable, but that wasn’t to say that they did these things terribly often. It had all started long before the Arrangement and settling down in London had inevitably pushed them closer together, but there were still those times when they went entire years without meeting up once, and that all made it so much easier to hold onto the fiction that these encounters were occasional.
This had gone beyond occasional. This had accelerated past regular, shot past frequent, and appeared to be making a very serious effort to reach all the way to constant. The last shred of propriety hanging between them, making a hapless effort to maintain even a threadbare facade of respectability, was the simple fact that they weren’t able to spend every single moment of every single day in company together.

Summary
You can tell when the higher-ups decide to thaw out a new batch of sparks for the aerial corps, because your camp is suddenly full of unfamiliar mechs wandering around and looking lost. Oh, the look of disgust there would be on your face, if only you had a face to look disgusted with. They’re almost like real recruits, but with even less experience and no clue what they’re doing! Perfect!
And you don’t have much idea of who any of the new mechs are, because you one hundred percent do not care. But when you overhear one of them asking, actually asking one of the officers if there are any educational resources he can access while there’s a lull in the fighting— Oh Primus. You have to know which one of them is making that kind of mistake. You don’t get around to asking, because you’re too busy dying of laughter. But if he still hasn’t started to catch on what a bad idea it is to speak up or step out of line— You were joking when you wondered if they knew how to feed themselves, but honestly, this mech is making you wonder.
