Travis remembers what it felt like when Emmett looked at him like Travis was the one who made the sun come up each morning. Like Travis could fix anything, like he was everything. And Travis knows — he does — that kind of thing isn't the basis for a healthy, long-lasting relationship. That was why that version of their relationship didn't last very long at all anyway, yet there's still a part of him that worries, genuinely, what it means that Emmett has that capacity of love in him but doesn't show it toward Travis anymore.
(Rock bottom always looks like Vic being the voice of reason, and that's how Travis knows that he needs to do something about this.)
