    Summary

Buck was a master of self-deception; he could deny and compartmentalize with the best of them. He knew every trick in the cognitive dissonance handbook—hell, he’d practically authored it, the new revised standard edition for the twenty-first century man. But waking up now in Eddie’s bed, he understood, in his heart of hearts, that this was not… regular.

After the tsunami, Buck finds himself invited deeper into the Diaz family. (post 3x03)

    Summary

“For the hundredth time, Buck, I’m fine,” Eddie’s tone was an endlessly patient thing. His eyes held both fondness and exasperation as they traced Buck’s movements around the kitchen.

“You’ve been quiet all day, you barely said ten words at the station today,” Buck countered, playing up his tone a little in hopes of amusing Eddie. “You’re inconsolable!”

“Inconsolable.” Eddie snorted, the clouds finally parting with his amused smile. “Been watching period dramas again, Buck?”

Buck grinned at him then sobered back up, “All I’m saying is, you’re moping. Admit it.”

    -----

Eddie’s kitchen was bathed in golden light from the sun starting its slow descent outside. There was slow music coming from the living room, from a playlist Buck set up. And there was flour everywhere.

    Summary

“So you told her that Eddie is your boyfriend instead of just letting her down easy like any sane adult would?” Hen asked with amusement coloring her tone. They were getting the second set of drinks, but Buck knew it was more of a guise to get him alone and talking.

Nothing good would come out of dwelling on the events of tonight. Buck made an impulsive choice that turned into a funny situation, and Eddie went along with it because he was being a good friend. As he always is. Nothing to any of it.

    -----
In which Buck turns someone down by saying he has a boyfriend (which he doesn't) and introducing said (fake) boyfriend. Only problem is that the person he turned down turns out to be part of their group for the night. Cue pretending, teasing, and realizations.

    Summary

And so, Eddie needs to tell Buck how he feels about him, and for him to do that, Eddie needs to tell his family that he’s bisexual. To have at least one person from his family to back him up when things inevitably go south with his parents after both revelations.

Two things he needs to do, and they are tightly knotted in his mind. He could have told Buck first. Could have had whatever outcome it yielded to decide the next steps for him, but that’s not what this is about. Whether Buck takes or rejects him, Eddie needs to do this for himself.

Or Eddie comes out twice in one week: once to his grandmother, and once to his best friend.

    Summary

Feelings tend to grip Eddie’s heart and make a home there until he is ready -or willing- to express them. And it’s that latter part, really, that gives him the most trouble. While Eddie feels every emotion and holds it close, he can seldom find a way to describe how he feels, the words sticking in his throat and refusing to budge.

    Alternative summary:

The problem with trying to woo Evan Buckley is that Evan Buckley seems to have absolutely no fucking clue when he’s being wooed.
