    Summary

Bucky jolts awake. His legs are tangled in a maroon colored duvet. He is lying in the middle of a large king bed, surrounded by pillows in matching maroon pillowcases. He is warm, but there is a part of him, deep in his gut that is still cold.

There are no dreams in cryo.

Post-Captain America: Civil War. Here be spoilers. You have been warned.

    Summary

Steve Rogers: I couldn’t say no to this little guy, so I guess he’s coming home with me!
The picture below it is an overexcited looking dog, barely older than six months, shoving its nose through the bars of a shelter gate. The tweet already has twenty thousand retweets, a few thousand more likes, and nearly three thousand comments. Bucky can’t help himself, leads in hand, and he leans a shoulder against the doorjamb and taps the comment field.
bbarnes: if you’re ever in need of a walker I’d be happy to take the lil guy on, nyc based and rescues are my thing!

    --

Steve Rogers is a bonafide superhero, followed by nearly a million people on Twitter, not that he’s all too active considering saving the world usually comes first. When he takes on a rescue dog, dog walker Bucky can’t help but leave a message in Steve’s twitter thread, never expecting the DM that comes his way.

With that one tweet, Steve and his new fuzzball Duke tip Bucky’s life upside down, but Bucky’s not sure he’d have it any other way - especially if he can do something about the shadows lurking behind Steve’s smile.

    Summary

Bucky Barnes is a lot of things:

    - a nurse
    - the owner of a dorky dog that's too big for his own good
    - a lot older than he looks (by a lot more than you’d guess)
    - one of the last born-werewolves of his generation (namely due to point number one)

He's also one of the most powerful werewolves in New York City, not that he uses that power for more than keeping up with his work and playing with his dog.

But, when the once-in-two-hundred-years lunar event known to wolves as the Triple Moon comes along, Bucky's more than a little peeved to get to Central Park to find cloud cover blocking the majority of the power the moon is supposed to be giving him.

And then he finds an unconscious man in a clearing.

He doesn't connect the two, though in retrospect he should have - witches are sneakier than they appear.

“This is your home?” asks Bucky at one point.

“It’s where I’m living now, yeah.”

Bucky comes home. Steve's a little slower on the uptake.

    Summary

“So,” Bucky says over the sudden pounding of Steve’s heart. He’s shaking slightly, can feel the quiver in his fingertips, adrenaline, nerves, and maybe-

“So,” Steve replies, and his voice is steadier than he expected. It seems to be what Bucky’s waiting for, because he lifts a hand, pauses.

    “Can I?”

As if Steve would say no. He nods, sharp, eyes on Bucky’s face.

Bucky’s finger’s brush his chest, and it’s like a live wire, sparking outwards, jolting. His grip tightens, and he realises his hands have ended up on Bucky’s hips, without conscious effort. Bucky, his soulmate.

“You,” Bucky says as if he hadn’t believed it, wonder in his eyes, a glint of something more. It takes Steve a moment to place it, and when he does it sends a shiver up his spine. Anticipation.

    --
Steve's volunteering when he meets his soulmate, and the cheetahs Bucky's responsible for make pretty good matchmakers, too.
