For the longest time, Nick Nelson and Tao Xu had been at odds. In the social hierarchy of Truham, they were by nature born to be diametrically opposed. Nick was the golden boy, rugby king. Tao was the insufferable nerd, never to be caught dead at a party. They had no reason to cross paths- that was, until Charlie. Unspokenly, Tao and Nick decided to be friendly- but never friends.
That all kinda changed when Charlie was committed to the psychiatric hospital. Turns out they need each other more than they think.

Nick’s palm slams on the desk, catching his verbs before they sail like a paper aeroplane out into the courtyard. Charlie looks up, watches as his face softens into a grin at the sight of him. “What would you do without me?”
“Probably more of my coursework,” Charlie chides affectionately, shuffling so Nick can squeeze past and into the seat next to him. “It’s due next period.”
Exams hit Nick with all the force of a moving train. Fortunately, Charlie is there to look after him.
