    Bookmarker's Notes

"If you let him Fall, so help me, I will find a way back up there. I swear it."

He's never threatened God before. Crowley waits a moment to see if he'll be smote, surely he'll be smote, only the moments tick by and there's just laughter on the street below. A police siren whooping. Well, She wasn't listening, anyway. But the threat still stands, Crowley thinks.

Though there's been a worse, darker thought circling him since they spoke at the diner. Crowley can barely stand to say it aloud.

"This isn't my fault, is it?" he says into the darkness, and the darkness says nothing.

Crowley likes giving Aziraphale things. Whatever he wants, actually.

Which, happily, includes Crowley himself, as it turns out.

    Bookmarker's Notes

"Would you please stop leaping to the exact wrong conclusion and look at me?"

He said the words. Whispered them into the skin at Aziraphale's throat. The ones he'd tried not to chase and examine all these years. And of all the wonders he'd seen that week, this one was the most unbelievable: Aziraphale said them too. Just gave them away, breathed them against Crowley's lips like they weren't the most precious things in the world. Take them back, Crowley wanted to tell him. I haven't done anything to earn them yet, just take them back.

He growled his dissent and set to kissing Aziraphale silent before slithering down his body. There was so much ground to cover, all of it holy. A wonder Crowley could worship it without being burned.
Oh, how quickly he'd be reduced to ash for the privilege.

    Summary

After everything, Aziraphale and Crowley, by unspoken agreement, begin sharing their lives.
    ---
Why? Aziraphale wanted to ask him, why millennia of the way things were, and now this?

But while Crowley seemed to have little issue upending every unspoken rule they’d ever written for themselves, Aziraphale was not so flexible, and they had spent thousands of years never quite addressing whatever it was this had stemmed from. Words, Aziraphale had always felt, were for bickering about where to eat for lunch, or hashing out ontological debates, or other trivial nonsense; there was no need to trifle with the imprecision of language, with phrasing and the possibility of being misconstrued, when it came to important matters if the other person simply understood, without needing it said. Six thousand years ago, when Aziraphale had met Crowley on the wall of Eden, watching the first two humans set out to begin the rest of history, something deep within him, more central even than his Grace, had thought, oh, it’s you, and that had been enough for him--for both of them, he assumed--for three millennia.

However much he wanted to ask, he didn’t know how. The words simply weren’t there.

    Bookmarker's Notes

one of the loveliest: just the right length, just the right amount of drama, the single most sweet confession… how the fear of losing one another turns into comfortable routine and familiarity. the misunderstandings of their own feelings is just a classic but it's so well executed here, their shortcomings of communication and the mixed signals… wonderful

oh! and how can i leave aside this line:

“If you ask me if I’m sure one more time, I’m taking my interior decor and I’m leaving ,”

    consent is important crowley!!!
