Jin-Woo thinks of his mother in their old apartment, waiting forever for a man burned to ashes. Thinks of Park Gi-Sool and the second child he never saw come into the world- imagines his wife opening the door for her husband only to be greeted by a man in black with a folded flag. If he could undo this- any of this- it would be worth it. (For he’s always been Sung Jin Woo at his core, no matter how much the Architect tried to wipe him blank, and Sung Jin Woo cares even if Ashborn doesn’t.)

Summary
Dust lies thick on the floor of the throne room, the once gleaming marble now aged and stained, worn to a muted grey. Chandeliers that once gleamed now tarnish, darkening a little more with every passing year, and even the throne, gleaming, golden thing that it was doesn't shine as much as it used to.
Igris does not know how long he has stood here, standing vigil over his long dead King. It does not matter, he will stay there until he too rusts into nothing, no matter how many thousands of years that might take.
That changes.
