When Glimmer and Bow make Adora go to the Fright Zone, the grimiest (and busiest) bar in Brightmoon, Adora meets a mysterious stranger who calls her Baby.
“I realized something about our first time together,” Catra states, and Adora feels the grip on her wrists tighten. Her eyes narrow as she speaks, and when Adora’s brain catches up from the incessant thought of holy shit, my girlfriend is strong, she realizes that the tone is accusatory.
Adora feels her face get hot. Shit. She doesn’t know. She definitely doesn’t know. Play it cool. So cool.
“Oh. Oh. Hah, hm. Whew. What about it?” Adora weakly protests, cringing a little and failing to hide it. Smooth. One look at the woman above her, and she knows Catra isn’t buying it.
“You’ve never touched yourself before.”
They hadn’t had any time alone over the past two weeks, as Adora’s husband was uncharacteristically present. Adora resumed her duties as his housewife and property. Catra resumed her duties as Finn’s full-time nanny, with an additional job from Adora's husband - keeping an eye on his wife.
Adora gently stopped Catra’s head with her hand, running a thumb over her cheekbone. “I missed you,” she whispered.
“I’m right here,” Catra promised, delighting in Adora’s sharp cry at the first flick of Catra’s tongue.
Catra kept an eye on Adora - just not in the way her husband had intended upon her employment.
Title from "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes.
Adora was working too much. The little voice in her head telling her to stop was promptly ignored as soon as it reared its ugly head. She pushed it to the side in favor of Adora doing better - being better.
She'd finally started her first contract as a social worker a few months ago, specializing in foster care. Her usual hours were 8 AM to 4 PM, with opportunities to work overtime. She and Catra had just moved in together around the same time, and they were desperate for savings. It started off with a few extra hours here or there, which spiraled into more hours and soon, it had snowballed out of her control. She couldn't say no. There were too many people to help, and so little time. So what if she ran her body and mind into the ground? She was useful to Catra and the families she supported. It was worth it.
Or was it?
"On your knees, Force Captain," Adora commanded, smiling as Catra did as she was told. Adora was sitting on the throne, muscular legs spread, Catra's favorite toy strapped to the apex of her thighs. Catra looked up to see Adora leaning casually on her right arm, an infuriatingly sexy smirk on her face. Catra was just about to wipe it off her face when she felt Adora's hand run through her hair, pulling her closer to the strap. Her laugh at Adora's eagerness died in her throat at a sharper pull at her hair.
"Leave it on," Adora said.

‘I can’t believe,’ Adora said, earnestly, while Catra fiddled with the temperature knobs, ‘that I spent years showering with you in the Fright Zone and never realised.’
‘Realised what?’ Catra glanced down at herself and smirked. ‘That you wanted to do more than look?’
‘I meant,’ Adora said, and given that she was about to be engaged in much more than looking, Catra wasn’t sure what business she had sounding embarrassed, ‘that I was in love with you.’
