Feng Xin blinked, waiting for him to laugh it off as a stupid joke, but Pei Ming just sat there waiting for a reaction. “You’re suggesting,” he said slowly, “that I find someone to go to couples therapy with me because it’s a more affordable way to get therapy.”
“Exactly!”
He stared at him incredulously. “There is absolutely no way in hell anyone would be stupid enough to do that.”

or: therapy is expensive, pei ming sometimes has good (dumb) ideas, everyone else is suffering, and fengqing finally get the therapy they need. at the same time. with the same therapist. because it's couples counseling.

He’s still holding out the ring between his fingers, frozen in bewilderment. Because Mu Qing didn’t say no (and Feng Xin had been pretty sure he wouldn’t, considering they had talked about it before and he seemed more than welcome to the idea) but he didn’t say yes either and right now he seems...angry? Still in shock, his eyes stay glued to the door Mu Qing disappeared behind. He hears furious muttering followed by a drawer being slammed shut just before the man in question emerges, looking incredibly pissed off.
Mu Qing marches over to Feng Xin and looks him in the eye. “Fuck you,” he says with relish, and then he’s dropping down to the floor right in front of him (on one knee, Feng Xin’s mind supplies helpfully) and holding open a small box and—oh.
“That’s a ring,” he says stupidly.

"Here,” he thrust the box of chocolates at Mu Qing.
Mu Qing finally looked up but didn’t take it, eyes narrowed. “What is it?” It didn’t sound like a question. So far so good. He wasn’t even hitting him. Yet.
“It’s for, um,” Feng Xin scratched the back of his neck. “It’s for Valentine’s Day.”
Mu Qing eyed it with suspicion. “Okay and?”
“It’s for y—” He couldn’t say it out loud! He coughed. Wasn’t Mu Qing supposed to be smart? The man in question raised an eyebrow at him, clearly waiting for him to get on with it. He’d gotten this far, he had to push forward. There’s no way he could fuck this up. “It’s for Jian Lan!” he blurted out.

or Feng Xin tries to do something nice for Mu Qing but panics, and now Mu Qing thinks he and Jian Lan are back together. Xie Lian is worried, Hua Cheng just wants to spend the day with his gege alone, Feng Xin is a dumbass, Mu Qing is just confused. And Jian Lan? She deserves a raise for having to deal with this.
