Castiel found the concept of sleeping fascinating. Humans were so fragile while sleeping, their bodies becoming soft and relaxed. Sleeping was allowing yourself a moment of extraordinary vulnerability. The human body needed a moment of rest both physically and mentally. A moment in which all the problems in the world disappeared.
Or at least that's how it should be, but Castiel found out that for Dean that wasn't always the case.
(Five times that Castiel watched over Dean as he slept + one time Dean watched over Cas).
The first time Castiel saw a ghost, he was six years old and was playing in the garden. He was picking up flowers when an elderly woman sat next to him and taught him how to braid them to make crowns and the meaning each of them had.
At night, before going to bed, he told his parents about the woman and they frowned and told him that during all the time he had been playing in the garden, he had been alone. Castiel then said that that couldn’t be true, that he was sure that a kind woman had been with him.
After that, his parents didn't let him play in the garden anymore.
Or, Castiel's life would be perfect... if it weren't for two little things: he could see dead people and was also hopelessly in love with his best friend (one of these problems was much more serious than the other).
- Part 1 of the ghosts that we knew
Castiel had the ability to see ghosts for as long as he could remember. When he accidentally confesses his ability to Dean on a Halloween night, both of them become involved in several cases where they try to help different ghosts cross to the afterlife.
Truth to be told, neither of them really know what they're doing, but you know, they're making it up as they go.
