Summary
As his weight shifts across creaking floorboards and he pries open the window of the largest of the three bedrooms, Dick tries to picture himself living in the space. The impossible idea of furniture occupying it, the echoing beats of his footsteps and breathing that would be dampened by rugs and blankets and curtains once furnished. It's difficult. Dick leans out the window slightly, his breath a puff of white, and looks at the property from a different angle. He can almost see through the large oak tree to where the drive connects with the main road, and his drooping mailbox, and the aborted fence that he needs to add to one of his lists.
He takes stock of the house, and feels a tenderness towards it that is slightly embarrassing - he wants to apologize for finding it wanting, for planning to change it, as though the wood of the floors under his feet were heaving sighs every time he moves across it and finds another thing that needs repair.

Summary
The parts of her he tries to picture before she met the sea are too soft, too frail, though, and he is certain that he is imagining another woman entirely; Flint as she is, cracked and calloused hands gripping the rail of the ship, is wholly terrifying. Silver watches her cave in the head of a man twice her size with a cannonball, hair a gnarled corona around her face covered in blood, panting and baring her teeth so viciously he thinks, Stheno and her red snakes, he thinks, Enyo with her mouth open in perpetual battlecry.

Summary
Nate sets two alarms for the morning, twenty minutes apart (one to ignore and one to motivate, waking in layers) and lays out his running gear the night before. He runs twice, three times, then starts hitting snooze. He changes the alarm after a few weeks yet wakes up at five a.m. anyway. Lays there for a while, goes back to sleep.
For lunch, he picks at food in gray, recycled pulp-patterned cardboard containers and reheats what’s left for dinner later, and when he misjudges the time necessary to warm it all the way through, he eats it anyway - hot, cold, lukewarm in the middle. It tastes the same; of dried-out rice, or salt, or peanut butter on crackers.
He lives. Whatever that means.

Tony was one of the top searched results on the majority of the sites Maya visited.
"VICE PRES. INVOLVED IN VIRAL TERRORIST HOLIDAY ATTACKS, TAKEN IN TO CUSTODY." "LIVE STREAM: EMERGENCY CONGRESSIONAL PRESS CONFERENCE CALLED IN D.C." "‘IRON MAN SAVED OUR LIVES’; AIR FORCE ONE CAPTAIN SPEAKS ON FORMER STARK CEO’S INVOLVEMENT." "TONY STARK CALLS FOR TOTAL TRANSPARENCY REGARDING A.I.M. ORGANIZATION’S RESPONSIBILITY IN NATIONAL BOMBINGS."
It had been thirty one hours since Maya Hansen died, and it took three articles to find her name shuffled in at the end, listed as a casualty in the gunfire and a credit to her profession - both false.

Summary
It’s two days before he realizes that no one is going to be coming for him, not like last time. They did not come for him, at first, when he took a train to New York City and found his accent echoed back to him from the mouths of the street, but still they came eventually, chasing him for three days before he was held down, kicked in the ribs, frozen again so immediately that, he thinks, they did not properly take everything from him. He still has New York City, much in the same way he was allowed to keep Kiev, Hamberg, Minsk, Volgograd; using him as his own warning to himself. The asset will always be recovered.
