Summary
Mostly canon-compliant, except Stede realized his love a little sooner. Blackbeard finds the letter after he's gone, and the only one on the ship he can get to read it for him is Jim.
They snatched the letter up off the floor and settled back onto the barrel they’d been using as a seat.“You’ve just been carrying this around? Who’s it from, anyway?” They pulled the sheets of paper out of the envelope.
Blackbeard shifted uncomfortably. “Oh, well. I’m not, entirely, sure. I found it.”
Jim looked up with narrowed eyes. “You found it? Where?”
Edward rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at the deck. “Doesn’t matter, I just found it.” He mumbled.
Jim noticed the paper had kind of a…smell to it and raised it to their nose. Lavender. Of course. “It’s from Stede, isn’t it?” When Blackbeard didn’t answer they just sighed and unfolded the paper.

Summary
The first time is quick. Ed has been thinking about it for weeks, kissing Stede Bonnet. It is the sort of thing he wants to do right. Though Stede’s never mentioned it in any of their lessons, Ed is certain there is a right way to go about kissing a gentleman. He must wait for the right time, the right place.
But when he finally does it, Ed doesn’t think at all. He is only instinct and hope tangled in a moment where breath is forgotten and the future seems possible.
