She’s perfect. Mesmerizing, really. And Kara’s about sixty percent in love with her. Which is inconvenient, because Kara is also too much of a disaster to do something crazy like introduce herself.
OR, Lena sponsors a youth center, and Kara works there. OR, Esme is an unwitting and unrequested wingwoman, Kara and Lena fall in love in less than five minutes, and they’re both incredibly useless but Lena hides it better.
It would be great if they didn’t meet because Kara heard her laugh for the first time and got so flustered she smacked her forehead against the door of the cupboard she was rifling through, searching for googly eyes, but alas. You can’t have everything.

“Thank you, darling,” she says, and she looks so soft in her color-of-Kara’s-eyes sundress with the pansy Kara bought her behind her ear and soft baby-hair fly-aways around her temples that without thinking about it, Kara blurts out: “I like when you do that.”
“Do what?” Lena asks, cocking her head. Internally, Kara tells herself to shut up at the same time she tells herself to stop being a coward and tell the love of her life that she’s, you know, in love with her.
“Call me ‘darling.’”
OR, Kara and Lena get brunch and go to the farmer’s market on Saturdays.

Rather like a balloon stabbed with a pair of scissors, Kara deflates. “No, I’m not. But it’d be great if I did.”
“Yes, it would.”
OR Alex is tired of Kara trying and failing to ask Lena out OR Alex has no chill and interrupts Uno to tell them to get their shit together OR they clean up together after game night and talk about their feelings and kiss little.
“I’m in love with you. I have been, for long enough that it’s getting hard to pretend I can get over you.”

“Oh, are you closed?” There is an odd note to the newcomer’s voice, Kara realizes. A faint accent, foreign, that no amount of schooling can erase. Kara cannot place it. “If you’re closed, I can-” The woman trails off, tilts her head to the door. It’s gotten so dark out that the street is barely visible.
Kara’s brain misfires. It’s stuck on the way fricatives seem to catch against the woman’s lips. She wants to hear her speak some more, just to try and figure out what other language that so-kissable mouth does shape around. Again and again, and it won’t matter if all of her guesses will turn out to be wrong as long as that soft lilt is washing over her.
She realizes she’s yet to answer the question and flushes bright red.
“I’m totally open. I mean… the store. The store is open. Yeah.”

Summary
Kara’s suiting up for her regular shift at the hospital when she gets a strange call from Alex. She frowns, puts on her Supergirl costume, and grabs her phone and keys as she walks out of her apartment.
Alex seems uncharacteristically nervous, reminiscent of all the times Eliza would ask them about something they weren’t supposed to be doing. They’re just exchanging pleasantries, and confirming lunch orders, when Alex gets paged to go back to work. Right before she says her customary goodbye, she asks Kara if she could help her out and stop by room 115 when she gets to the hospital.
It’s really not such a strange request. Kara dresses up as Supergirl and visits children at the hospital where her sister works as a doctor a couple times a week, when her schedule allows it. A lot of the kids ask for her, especially since the new Supergirl movie came out.
