Summary
Essek Thelyss, lonely and ambitious prodigy, comes to Nicodranas to make a risky gamble with the Assembly. At the water’s edge, he finds himself swept up in another dangerous entanglement he can't seem to escape — and as time goes on, he's less and less sure he wants to. Will his treasonous alliance or the sea itself devour him first?
(Or, the one where Caleb is a merman.)

“An ordinary snail?”
“Yes, just to start with.”
The snail still looks quite ordinary, as far as Caleb can tell. Its little eyestalks sway and wave as it continues its unknown mission across Essek’s research. He clears his throat. “Hm. My friend, how long has it been since you have rested?”

“Gilmore said you could help us.” The halfling Orym wears the long-suffering look of a parent, or perhaps a chaperone.
“Gilmore should not be handing out my name like host gifts at a party,” Essek replies, wrapping the sharp words in polite tones. “I do not particularly enjoy unexpected visitors.”

“Okay, you definitely have something new,” Beau said when he stalled for too long. “Spill.”
Essek continued to chew his thumbnail. “Tour group on the lava field. There was a sudden breakout from a soft spot.”
“...And?”
He took a breath, then shrugged. “It looked like hands?”
(Aka, the spooky volcanology AU that absolutely no one asked for.)

Summary
The baby chews on the ring and considers Verin with doleful sea-green eyes.
"She is teething,” Essek reports, and the way he says it reminds Verin of the days Essek was still memorizing arcane fundamentals. “I am told that the lower tusks are particularly discomforting in their early stages, even when they are milk teeth."
“Understandable,” Verin replies. He feels mentally adrift, like he’s stepped into an alternate universe, one where his aloof brother has been replaced by this warm, doting double.

(Post-canon, Verin comes to a party at Essek's invitation, curious and hoping to reconnect - and is completely unprepared for how much Essek has changed.)

Summary
For Daryl Dixon the world ended days before it did for almost everyone else, and it was heralded with a prerecorded phone message instead of a bang.
An AU fic where Daryl met Paul several years before the apocalypse.
UPDATE 1/12/2019: I was really put off the ship/fandom when the spoilers about Jesus dying started coming out this past summer, so I decided to end this fic at chapter 25 since there was a nice emotional resolution. Obviously I came back but don't have the inspiration for this particular universe, so I wrote down my plans for a sequel on my tumblr. Check it out: https://tinyurl.com/ripplessequel

Summary
Among the Lucidian coast painters of the early 800s, Jester Lavorre is without a doubt the most idiosyncratic: you know immediately when you are looking at a Lavorre painting. Where her contemporaries were largely constrained to portraits and still lifes commissioned by the rich merchants of Nicodranas, Lavorre’s works are concerned with travelers and people on the fringes of society: sailors, courtesans, hermits, criminals, all treated with frankness, equanimity and irreverence.
It is an oeuvre both baffling and electric, the work of a woman who touched, unnoticed, the highest corridors of power in Wildemount–and painted many, many penises.

Ikithon’s voice presses softly into his head. I’m pleased you made use of him. You were always talented at bending others to your goals. Even far from home, you make me proud.
