"There's something in the shadows," Keith says.
"What is it?" Shiro asks, staring into the fathomless, consuming dark around them. Only the accent lights on his paladin's armor pierce the darkness, and only just at that.
It's a long moment before Keith speaks again, this time close enough that his breath washes coolly against Shiro's cheek and makes him shiver.
"Me," Keith says.

Keith disappears. Shiro leaves the Castle of Lions behind in search of him.

Summary
Shiro's birthday is coming up and he's impossible to get anything for. Keith bears the brunt of their friends scrambling for ideas.
“Look, we promise it’ll be quick,” Matt says. Apparently they’re doing good-cop-bad-cop. “Just tell us where he is and we’ll be out of his hair.”
“He…” Lance hesitates. “Died?”
The smacking sound is either Matt hitting his own forehead or Pidge hitting Lance’s. There’s no squeal, so Keith figures it’s probably the former. He has to give Lance the points for loyalty at least.

There, at the base of his head, right where his braid begins, is a bright blue, gluey-looking glob of...something. “What is that?”
Another sigh. “Bliffuf goo.” Keith turns back around, making a face. “They spit it. And I managed to avoid all of it but this. They told me oil might be able to get it out, but that if it doesn't work…” His expression turns almost scared.
“What happens if it doesn’t work?” Shiro demands, dread rising.
Keith’s gaze drops. “I’ll have to cut my hair,” he says quietly.
