Summary
Pete wakes up in a cold sweat, lurching forward in a bed that isn’t his. His head is still murky from the booze he knocked back the night before. He’s not sure if he wishes he were more sober or more drunk.
“Hey, Wentzy, shh,” Gabe sits up next to him, voice soft and soothing. He rubs a gentle circle between Pete’s shoulder blades. Pete struggles to hear him over the pounding of his own heart. “S’just a bad dream.”
____________Gabe takes care of Pete. Pete takes care of Gabe.

Summary
Pete hits the ground with a loud thud. His shoulder catches most of the fall, but thankfully there’s a steel-toed boot to give his face a taste of the dry, gritty dirt too.
“You know,” Pete says, grinning even under the hard press of rubber sole to his cheek. “I love to play like this, if you just ask nice.”or

Summary
Patrick takes pride in the fact that he’s started getting up early. Well, okay, not early , by average human standards. The sun is definitely shining bright through the curtains by the time Patrick rolls out of bed. But it’s before noon at least, and McDonald’s is probably still serving breakfast, so Patrick counts it as a win.

Summary
“Would ya look at you,” Pete says as he steps in, closing the door behind him with a soft click. “All set up in your very own office. This might be even nicer than my dad’s...”
It’s really not. Patrick’s office is modest at best, a small, sparsely decorated gray square of a room with a standard window that has a scenic view of the dumpsters out back... Pete has always been a sweet talker though, especially when it comes to Patrick. Patrick has never been sure if he loves or hates that about him.

Summary
“Stump, my man,” Pete says, laying on the charm and turning his grin up to eleven. It’s the way he acts with his high ticket clients, the ones he needs to keep buttered up and on his good side because they bring him the best work. It’s not what Patrick deserves, but the bravado is easier than being himself. “How’ve you been?” He opens his arms wide, as if Patrick might step into them for a platonic hug, complete with a friendly pat on the back.
Patrick, unsurprisingly, isn’t having it. “Cut the shit, Pete,” Patrick says, shrugging off his suit jacket and throwing it on the dark leather sofa in the corner that Pete keeps for clients and mid afternoon naps. “We both know why I’m here.”
