Make all of the mistakes that make me laugh
Oh darling lord how you make me laugh
Get drunk for me, sing louder than you've sung for me
Grow young each time that thunder in
Your lungs begins to rumble at the world" -Welly Boots, The Amazing Devil******

Summary
It’s 2020, and mutantkind has been declared by governments around the world a subspecies of humanity. Sweeping legislation has left mutants with the same amount of rights as animals, and governments, corporations, and private citizens are allowed to use and own mutants as they please.
Erik Lehnsherr is a 32-year-old mutant who lives in a testing facility, and he’s just been handpicked by some new asshole scientist for closer study, a sickeningly-proper British dude in a wheelchair named Charles Xavier. As they interact more frequently, Erik is beginning to suspect that this asshole scientist might be more than he professes to be.
In the end, it may be up to the angry metallokinetic and the sketchy scientist to set things right with the world, but it won’t be easy. And it sure as hell won’t be fun.

Summary
Instead of hitting his spine, the bullet Erik deflects in Cuba shatters Charles's collarbone. In their desperation to treat the wound his friends remove the prototype suppression collar that has throttled Charles's power for years, allowing him to keep it in check. With sudden and unwanted access to the world's minds, Charles exhausts the dangerous power surge by instructing humans not to fear or harm mutants. Then he falls into a coma.
Charles couldn't have anticipated that he'd leave the humans vulnerable and unable to fight back against their own extinction.
When he finally wakes up it will be to a decimated world that Erik desperately hopes they can shape together. That ought to go over well.
Note: On temporary hiatus because chapter 2 is being difficult. But this story will definitely be continued as soon as possible.
