Summary
Daniel can't sit by and watch his little brother suffer anymore, and if his parents won't do anything, he will. Suitcases packed, Evan and Daniel hit the road, hoping to create a better life for themselves. They just so happen to end up in Minnesota, where Daniel becomes a firefighter for Station 48. Life isn't easy taking care of a thirteen-year-old by yourself, especially one that has so many problems. Luckily, a coworker turned friend is there to lend a hand during hard times.

Summary
The angle is wrong for Buck and Eddie, but just right for Hen to see the small, quiet smile that Bobby hides by turning to grab something from the fridge. He’s at the edge of the scene, there but not fully present in the way that Buck and Eddie exist together. It’s like watching a Venn diagram in motion; Bobby and BuckandEddie and the space where they overlap, neatly labelled family. If Hen stretched the diagram out, added a few more circles, she and Chimney would fit just as neatly there as well.

Summary
Growing up in an honorable family meant he never had the opportunity to play with homemade toys, climb trees, and scratch his knees and elbows. Now, he grins down at his notebook as he pictures Khaonueng’s astonishment at how their kites would fly like the military airplanes that soar over Pha Phun Dao.
As he lays down in bed and closes the worn-out mosquito net, Tian ponders over how many things from this village he would sorely miss. His mind spins between many memories; Meejo’s endless questions, the clean air, and Yod’s unwavering kindness. He remembers the paper cranes hanging from his classroom ceiling and Doctor Nam’s sense of humor. Finally, a figure in a green uniform, sporting his usual frown, takes over his thoughts.
Tian settles his right palm over the scar on his chest and dreams of the stars that cover Pha Phun Dao's cliff.
(Strange fires are happening in the forest, and Phupha sets out to investigate by going undercover in a party full of dirty-rich businessmen. Tian just wanted to make a kite.)
