or: no more disguises, let true love decide
“No, I’m sorry,” Jared said, dropping his shoulders and letting out the rest of a breath he’d apparently held.
If Evan stumbled home dizzy tonight, it would have little to do with alcohol and lot to do with Jared Kleinman. He was giving Evan whiplash with the way he was ping-ponging between… Evan didn't even know between what.
When, on a whim, Evan and Jared decide to go to a Halloween party, threads are woven that connect hearts, tug on upside-down heads, and mend the gap between past and future.
How he would be of any real help, Jared didn’t know. Sure, his mom was a pastry chef and he had baked with her when he’d been younger but he had only performed little kid tasks then like pouring milk into batter, or brushing egg on rugelach, or putting his entire head into a bowl to thoroughly lick it clean. He was a consumer of baked goods rather than a creator.
Neither Evan nor Jared is an experienced baker but they don't let that stop them. And it's not as big of a disaster as you might expect it to be.

The sounds of the forest permeating the frosty January air around them were amplified as they fell into peaceful silence once more.
The hearty snap of a branch under a deer’s hoof, a gentle flutter of wings, the ringing prrprrrprrp of a woodpecker chopping away at a tree trunk, the snow crunching softly beneath their feet.
The sun winked at them through a part in the clouds every now and then.
Evan and Jared are home for winter break, and we're going for a walk with these two, a calm, lovely walk to relieve some stress and clear our minds
