It’s been two months since the storm, and Childe hasn’t seen Zhongli not even once, not since that fateful meeting with the Signora where the truth is finally unveiled.
And what a fun little kick to the gut that is, the realization that not only had he been played by all sides, but he's also being tossed aside like trash now that his use had run its course.
It’s not that Childe doesn’t get it. He’s a Harbinger. He knows first-hand what it means to do his duty, to put the mission first and his personal feelings far, far away, preferably locked up in a box, where it wouldn’t interfere with his job. He knows what it’s like working with vipers, to scheme and plot and lie in wait for the opportune moment to stab his opponent in the back.
But this time, this time Childe can’t help but feel a little (a lot) gutted.
Stupid. He’s gotten himself stupidly attached.

The author has done incredible research on Russian culture and elemental reactions and resistance ingame which makes the story built solidly on canon facts. All in all it sticks pretty close to canon too (I personally highly value this) and Childe as well as Zhongli are perfectly in character. Very good writing: misunderstandings don’t get resolved immediately, more show then tell, empathising with the characters. I genuinely felt myself blushing at some scenes which is a great sign of an author being able to convey feelings well. We have a thick plot, acts and arcs, suspense, and all of that makes a good story. I‘m impressed by this writing.
This is the first fic I‘m reading for Zhongli/Childe, so I could get an idea about why people ship them (in other words, what clues we got in canon, what their chemistry is like etc.) and it made me understand it better.
I haven’t finished this fic yet (2 chapters to go) but I wanted to write down my thoughts in case I forget later.

Wow. Okay. Haven’t commented yet, but: really well written, I felt myself blushing at the first almost-kiss… Admittedly I liked their dynamic in the first half more. Second half is packed with plot and mystery and action — the change in Xingqiu’s heart felt a little sudden to me, but it wasn’t objectively. I’m just a sucker for SLOW slow burn. It’s a very good story with excellent adaptation of Liyue, detailed lore AND BTW I actually laughed HARD when Zhongli made his appearance.
This sucked me in like nothing has in a long time.

Slowburn Takeda/Ukai; the author really knows how to show instead of tell, and you find yourself feeling and suspecting the same way the characters do. It's not completely clear what everyone thinks and feels so it adds mystery and tension I rarely see in fanfiction (more or less unreliable perspective). Other than that it's a fluffy fic with bits of drama and follows canon to the boot. Highly recommended.
