    Summary

“You love him” the witch spits out, an accusation.

Jaskier laughs. The sound trails off awkwardly as she continues to glare at him. “Oh, you’re- you’re serious. I mean, yes? I haven’t exactly been subtle about that.”

    -------------------

A series of vignettes of Jaskier's time with Geralt.

    Summary

They've barely left the tavern in Posada before Geralt has made up his mind about Jaskier. He's annoying and persistent, has zero sense of self-preservation, talks too much and is, first and foremost, painfully, vulnerably human.

The next few weeks prove almost all of those things to be true—all but one.

    Summary

Yennefer said something — Jaskier couldn’t catch what, not everyone had super Witcher hearing — and Geralt’s whole face changed. His eyes widened, and then crinkled, catching the light. His smile slowly appeared, like the sun breaking the horizon at dawn. And when he laughed, it was a tragically brief, beautiful thing, because then Geralt caught himself and looked down, his smile slowly fading away.

And as Jaskier stared at Geralt, a single thought crystalized, whispered by a small voice in his heart; this one’s mine.

    ***

Jaskier loves Geralt, but Geralt doesn't love him back. That's been made abundantly clear. He's almost come to terms with it, when Destiny (via Yennefer of Vengerberg) brings him and Geralt back together. Except now Geralt has his own family, and doesn't seem to need Jaskier at all. Maybe. Probably. Even if Geralt's actions seem to say otherwise.

    Summary

He may not like Yennefer, but he doesn’t want to be more of a burden than he’s been already. If he can convince them that he’s good, that he’s great, that he’s ready to take on the world once more, then he can be out of their hair. He’s just an imposition on the perfect little family they’ve got going on, and no matter how he feels he’s not going to homewreck them. Not when there’s a young princess involved.

    Summary

Different species have different ways of recognizing their soulmates, but very few know this.

Jaskier realized that Geralt was his soulmate the second they met, but when Geralt didn’t react—and even tried to scare him off—he knew he had to ease Geralt into the situation. Witchers supposedly didn’t feel emotions, but Jaskier was confident that he could teach his soulmate what love was.

Geralt found his soulmate by punching him in the stomach. No one had ever had a witcher for a soulmate, so Jaskier understandably never said anything. That was fine. Geralt didn’t want to have a soulmate anyway.
