Summary
Courfeyrac leaned against a shelf that creaked ominously, and he hastily straightened. “Well, it’s not Christmas,” he reasoned.
“Not Grantaire’s birthday, either,” Combeferre added.
“And no judgment, Enj, but it’s a little late for Valentine’s Day.”
Enjolras ground his teeth together, glaring a garish painting of a sad clown as if it had personally offended him. “It’s an apology gift,” he said sourly, staring determinedly away from Courfeyrac and Combeferre so that he didn’t have to see the look they inevitably gave each other.
He was already familiar with it.

Summary
“Don’t you think it might be different since you have someone to celebrate with?” Joly pressed, after exchanging a look with Bossuet. “On either account?”
Grantaire’s eyes narrowed. “Different how?”
Joly sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. “I don’t know,” he said. “Maybe you won’t jointly loathe both your birthday and Valentine’s Day for the first time in your life?”

Summary
“Never have I expected to hear those three sweet words from your lips in this or any lifetime.” Grantaire leaned over so that his lips were practically against Enjolras’s ear. “I would settle instead for two.”
“Two?” Enjolras breathed.
Grantaire nodded. “Don’t go,” he murmured.

“Whether or not Grantaire believes isn’t important,” Enjolras interrupted firmly. “What matters is that we make everyone else believe. And when we’re finished, I think they will.”
“Finished?” Kris repeated. “Finished with what?”
“I’m going to ask the judge for a hearing to determine if you’re competent to stand trial,” Enjolras told him. “I’m going to defend you. And more than that, we’re going to prove that there is a Santa Claus, and that you’re him.”

Summary
“You don’t think the bullet-proof vest will give something away?” Silence. “Besides, it does nothing for my figure.”
Olivia smiled despite herself. “All right. You realize this might mean you have to testify?”
“Not my first rodeo, Sergeant. I know the drill. I’ll see you…soon,” Barba said.
Olivia nodded shortly, and they both stepped out of the back of the truck. “Oh, and—don’t forget this.” She handed him the key card for Amaro’s room, then placed a simple, silver wedding band in his palm, and he slipped it onto his left hand. It felt strange, heavy against his skin. “I now pronounce thee husband and husband,” she said with a wry twist to her mouth. “Now let’s get us a serial killer before the cake arrives.”

Summary
“See anything you like?”
The guy who’d been charming Amaro now seems to have focused his energies on Rafael. He’s draped himself along the top of the pastry case, long arms crossed and fingers tapping at the glass. Even with the smattering of gray at his temples he looks too young and too self assured. Embroidery on the breast of the pale pink apron he wears over his dark blue button up announces him as ‘Sonny.’ Which. Yes, that fits.
“Just looking,” Rafael quips. “I’ll take a coffee if you sell any to go with your small mountains of sugar.”
Sonny looks concerned and then says, “this is a bakery,” like he’s seriously thinking Rafael somehow missed that. “Sugar is kind of our thing.”
An AU where Sonny runs his family's bakery and neither he nor Barba are very good at letting themselves have what they want. Maybe they can figure that one out together.

Summary
Tessa could see already that it wouldn’t happen, that Rafael Barba would never be the type to fit in with their family no matter how much Sonny seemed to like him. It was possible Rafael already knew it himself if his demeanor was anything to go by but perhaps he still needed a… push.
Tessa was magic.
Rafael would never know what hit him.
[Or, Sonny's mother is a witch who decides to use her magic to make Rafael miserable.]

Summary
"I mean, I know my mom can blow things out of proportion sometimes. But I told her that she was--Amy?" Sonny interrupted himself, eyes fixed on someone behind Rafael. He was sliding out of his seat a second later, leaving Rafael to turn and watch as he embraced a petite, dark haired woman next to the hostess stand.
"Sonny! I didn't even recognize you without the mustache," she said, holding him at arm's length to look him over. "Wow. What are you doing back in Brooklyn?"
"Just grabbing a bite to eat," he said, leading her back to the table. "Amy, this is Rafael Barba. Rafael, this is my old partner, Amy Santiago. I taught her everything she knows."
"More like I taught you everything you know," Amy said, elbowing him. "You didn't have any of the 2010 crime stats memorized when you started in the Nine-Nine! It was so embarrassing," she confided to Rafael, like Sonny wasn't even right there.
(Or, Five times Sonny ran into someone from the Nine-Nine and one time Barba did.)

Summary
Enjolras has not only fake-married an alcoholic annoyance who doesn't take anything he says or does seriously, he somehow did it while Jehan was live-tweeting the civil ceremony. He's fighting for marriage equality, but the evidence overwhelmingly points to the fact that marriage as an institution is dead, and that he has personally helped administer its coup de grâce.
