The sun is just creeping over the Manhattan skyline as he closes the apartment building’s front door behind him, the freezing March air cutting right through his shirt, the same one he wore on his way here the night before. He slides the brass key to the front door back into the pocket of his wallet that he hides it in—not that it needs to be hidden. There’s no reason that he shouldn’t have a key to Casey’s place. They’ve been best friends for nearly two decades. There’s no reason anyone should suspect that Casey didn’t give him a key until they started fucking six months ago.
